Silambam Houston is a great place to learn Indian classical dances - Bharatha Natyam, Kathak, Theory, and Vocals. Teaching is at the Dancescape studio in Pearland.
My daughter completed her arangetram and is now teaching here.

The instructors and the owner are extremely rude and obnoxious. Keep asking for donations to build their dance studio and force you to give gifts. I have learnt dance at other schools. I am shocked with the strategy of this school. Mind you, you can hear the teachers screaming on students from outside the class on a regular basis. Besides, choreography of the Kathak teacher is not impressive at all.

Amazing teachers. This school of Classical dancing instills discipline, ability to not give up and being respectful to others. Their Bharatnatyam classes start from 6yrs onwards and their Kathak classes are for grownups. They fusion world wide literature into varied forms of Indian classical dancing and have ample shows throughout the year. It is a pure form of art at its best. One of the best places to learn Indian Classical dancing in Houston.

I have been with Silambam for about 12 years now, and just when I think that it can’t get any better, it does! Silambam has been SO helpful in molding me to be the person that I am today, as along with Bharatanatyam I have learned the value of discipline and comraderie.
