I am so pleased that a friend directed me to Snap Fitness in Pecan Grove. I have a lot of equipment at home and usually work out there. I needed some specialized equipment and heavier weights while rehabbing a partial knee replacement. I started at a different, much larger gym. My recent visit at Snap Fitness in Richmond TX was absolutely fantastic! The staff is always friendly and attentive. The tanning bed itself was super clean, comfortable, and effective. I will definitely be coming back. I love the availability of the gym, being open 24 hours. Snap in Richmond has all the benefits of a big box gym with the feel of a personal training studio.

Came to this gym to start a membership after my gym closed. Decided this gym was not for me. After not being there a week they refused to give me a refund or prorate me for usage of seven days. They kept all the money and even had the audacity to charge me for the last month. Even though I understand that most if not all commercial gyms do first and last month. My point is I wasn’t even there a week. This gym employs aggressive business practices. Be forewarned that if you sign up here and decided that you don’t like it, you’re on the hook and management nor even the owner, whom I also spoke with, care about it. They will take your money.

I recently joined Snap Fitness in Pecan Grove and have pleasantly surprised by a number of things. Beginning with the facility is extremely well kept and maintained. The machines are clean and kept up with. Even in peak hours there’s always a spot open for bench/squat racks which has been really nice. I was going to lifetime for the longest time but grew tired of their increasing prices so a switch was needed and Snap has been an excellent choice. The staff is great, Fernanda and Azim have been an absolute pleasure to work with and have offered great advice!
Almost forgot they have a really neat 3d body scanner that has provided me with a lot of information about my body and allows me to track my progress. I will attach a photo at the bottom.

To give some insight before I go into my review about Snap Fitness (Pecan Grove) I had been a member at the old location and the current location for a little over two years with my husband.
Rather than go into exhaustive detail on my time at this location, I’ll make some brief statements about areas of concern that reflect my score for this location:

- The owners are not present in the morning as promised; my attendance ranged from 7 to 10 a.m. At the latest I would be there was at 11 a.m.
-Zumba classes are “free”. Zumba has a one-time fee of about little under 80 dollars for a MyZone belt that is required to wear to the class.
-Membership is 50 dollars per person a month. Unless you have been grandfathered in from the old location in which you would have been paying 35 dollars per person a month.
-The massage bed is 20 dollars per person a month, and the tanning booth is about little under 80 dollars per person a month.
-If you have a guest they will have to pay 20 dollars for the day.
-The only amenities that come with the membership are free use of: gym equipment, shower/bathroom, lukewarm saunas (when my husband suggested the saunas to be at the appropriate sauna temperature they did not know what he was talking about and blame a customer for turning off the saunas) and customer music request.
- The gym started losing good employees, which affected the gym's cleanliness and maintenance.
- The gym has a thick smell of room freshener, which would linger on my gym bag and clothes.
- The restrooms were becoming increasingly dirty, with signs requesting not to flush toilet paper and a "community" apothecary box provided for customers to share among themselves. Not sanitary.
- The gym is open 24/7, but there is no staff overnight, leading to equipment being left in inappropriate places.
- I was injured when a bench collapsed during my shoulder press exercise.
- The owner and Zumba instructor blamed me for not using the bench correctly rather than apologizing or not saying anything at all.
-The owner was warned by a previous employee to not put the bench on the main floor due to the faultiness of it.
- I found out three other people were injured on the same bench and barbell equipment at Snap.
- I suggested improvements, including maintenance of the equipment and converting the hot gym into a recovery center or opening the hot gym as promised, and my suggestions were viewed as ridiculous.
-I was accused of not having any suggestions when voicing my departure.
- After I canceled my membership, my husband was informed he would have to pay the new rate instead of the grandfathered rate.
- My husband also canceled his membership after being told the only way to honor the grandfathered pricing was if my membership was active.
- I’ve concluded that the gym was unprofessional and likely filled with fake positive reviews from family and friends of the owners.
- The convenience of a few living minutes from Snap was not worth the risk to our safety and health.

Instead of improving the conditions and culture of the gym to compete with the big box gym with the blue and white logo and its "evil" starting price of $9.99, they preferred to spew nonsensical statements such as:

- “With ten dollars a month, anybody and everybody is going to be there. It’s not going to stay a nice gym.”
- “That gym is so packed.”
- “You're going to have to fight for a machine and a bench.”
-"There are so many kids there on their phones.”
- “Three people came back from that gym because of how rude the employees are.” (It’s always the magic number of three. Never two, five, seven, or any other number.)
- “Some people that work there workout here because it's so crowded.”
-"I went there, and I couldn't even walk around because there were so many people.”
-" I was told there are 300 people there at the same time."
- “Every day is like Black Friday at *** Fitness.”

I think this gym has everything I could need. From normal workout machines to even a hydromassage chair, it’s perfect. There are many different ways to pursue a healthier lifestyle and this gym allows easy access to everything. The staff never fails to create a personal relationship with all of the members, and that’s something I really admire. You would usually go to a big, public gym and the staff would just say hello and call it a day. But at Snap fitness, you’re able to create a bond with each staff member because of the excellent customer service. Additionally, the environment is fantastic. The people here are so nice and so welcoming, which allows for an easier and more neutral workout. If I had access to any gym in the world, my #1 choice would always be at Snap Fitness.

I worked out at this snap fitness location for over two years.

This gym changed locations in 2023, and prior to the move was fantastic. It was a friendly small gym, run by a GM who cared a lot for the clientele, kept equipment up to date and in good repair, and went by the name of Brandon. He brought me and then eventually my wife in to begin our massive fitness journey, and we have both had massive transformations in terms of fitness, and physical strength, all through our own willpower.

Then the move happened for Snap Fitness Pecan Grove, and Brandon moved on to greener pastures. Unfortunately for all of us, the owners stepped in, and suffice to say, the gym has suffered from it. Here's where we are now after the move:

The equipment is not always cleaned regularly nor maintained well, mainly the latter. Lots of cables look loose, have exposed metal cabling from the rubber sheath that looks like its fraying (the same frayed wires have been there for months, and are constantly getting worse), benches next to the free weight area collapse under load due to worn springs at the pin, and not all of the cardio machines work as they should, often resetting their programming mid workout just from changing direction.
When on site employees are told of the issue, they respond as they should, by locking down the equipment and posting notices on the equipment in question in order to ensure no one is hurt or further injured from discovering the maintenance issues mid-set (also ensuring further damage is mitigated to the equipment).

The owner, reportedly, apparently proceeds to supersede his employees recommendations, and places his members at risk by either removing those notices at times, or by placing collapsing benches back out onto the gym floor with claims that injured athletes who have been working out for years do not know how to use the equipment properly, thus claiming user error.

I would never recommend that someone I care about be placed in a situation where they are paying $50 a month for sub-par equipment, even if the employees are fantastic, thus I have to give a place that used to be great, a terrible score.

Keep the equipment maintained, and please, for the love of god, get rid of the sickening perfume smell. It covers the entire gym in a super strong scent. It gives people headaches and nausea. And my hair, equipment I bring, and my clothes smell of it strongly when I get home. My hair smells of it even after a shower. It's a sickening sweet smell and really has no place in a gym.

I love the location of the gym, and I feel that the gym has a huge amount of potential. The employees we see on a regular basis are all fantastic, and deserve high praise for their attention to detail and concern for members. It's just not being run by a General Manager, aka owner, who seems to give much thought to his members safety, as can be seen by the state of the equipment within. That is one of the sole issues. Price is pretty high too for very few perks.

I have since moved on from this gym, but wish the people who remain there well, and hope that they remain safe.

Snap Fitness in Pecan Grove is like the Disneyland of gyms—minus the crying kids and overpriced churros. I love this place more than my favorite pair of sweatpants (you know, the ones that make my butt look good)!

First off, let’s talk about the saunas. These bad boys are hotter than a Texas summer, and I’m pretty sure I sweat out my entire weekend’s worth of bad decisions in there. It’s like a detox but way more satisfying. And let me tell you, emerging from the sauna feels like being reborn—I’m basically a new, less questionable version of myself.

The equipment? They have all the right stuff. You name it, they’ve got it. Treadmills, weights, machines that look like they were designed by NASA—it’s a fitness playground for adults. And there’s something deeply satisfying about using a machine you have no idea how to operate correctly. I might’ve almost launched myself into orbit on the leg press, but it was totally worth it.

The staff? Absolute legends. They’re friendlier than a golden retriever at a BBQ and always ready to help. Plus, they never judge me when I take a break halfway through my workout to scroll through Instagram or contemplate life choices.

Snap Fitness Pecan Grove, you’re my happy place. If you’re looking for a gym where you can sweat, laugh, and maybe even cry a little (no judgment), this is it. Trust me, it’s more fun than a shirtless Bert Kreischer comedy show!

I’ve been working out at the Pecan Grove Snap for a while now. They just recently upgraded to a new location a couple blocks down. Love the new machines and saunas!
Love the owners too, really sweet couple. The front desk team always makes you feel welcome, I love Fernanda and Andy. I always feel at home.

So I’ve been coming to Snap Fitness in Pecan Grove for almost a month now and I have to say this is easily my favorite gym that I’ve been a part of, and I’ve been a member at a lot of different gyms. So I’ve been anticipating the opening of this gym, and it did not disappoint. I was working at the planet fitness down the street until this place opened and finally when it did I was given an introduction without any questions. I was welcome back with open arms, and I was satisfied with the experience! The gym offers a wide variety of amenities and workout equipment! I know the parking lot looks full from the front, but they have additional parking spaces in the back along with a Tesla station as well I thought that was pretty neat ( I don’t don’t have one by the way 🤣). Furthermore the ambience of the facility feels like a place where I can increase my focus and really improve myself. Overall, the owners and the employees did an amazing job with turning this old Ace hardware building around, because I used to shop there before this building became a gym and I’ll tell you what it does not look like anything like it did previously. You guys did an spectacular job! Keep up the good work!

I was torn on my rating as it is hard to separate the Pecan Grove Snap 'family' and Snap the business.

I've been a member for close to 2 years and have never had a bad experience or interaction at Snap. For the most part, the equipment and facilities were kept up nicely. Occasionally, a piece of equipment would need to be repaired (and it was done timely), or you'd have to wait for a bench/rack/bike/etc. In 2 years, I've met a lot of regular members and have created lots of great bonds.

As far as Snap the business.... I'd give a 1 star. The owners could publish an idiots guide to botching a move. Their 'upgrade' to the new location has been over 18 months in the making and still is not complete. This has left many members out of a gym for almost 2 months and basically lost all the momentum and progress we were making. To make matters worse, they only send updates/emails/posts once they are called out publicly. Communication is the cheapest form of customer retention there is (or will ever be)! As of now, the only materialistic apology that has been offered is 1 free month FOR A FRIEND OR RELATIVE. No compensation has been offered to members (besides applying our July payment to future charges).

This isn't the first time their management style has been questionable. This past winter, the electronic lock on the front door was malfunctioning (for at least the 3rd prolonged time since I joined). The solution (if you call it that) was to jam a paperclip in the striker so the door wouldn't latch. This was a HUGE safety issue for those of us who workout solo at 4am. On several occasions, I'd pull the paperclip out and attach it to a business card. Then, drop the card in the comment box with a note. This lasted for roughly a month. I haven't dropped my membership yet (only because the facility is decently close and priced well, and I have bonded with several members). However, if they miss their next deadline (8/21), this will most likely change.

First off, I'll keep this civil.

I have been inside the new facility (multiple times). Generally speaking, that is the only way I have gotten honest (not sales-speak) updates. The new facility is REALLY nice. It's extremely spacious and has tons of new equipment. It has so much new equipment that people should rarely (if ever) have to wait on anything. Combine that with the 24/7 access and grandfathered price (assuming that was revoked upon my review), the price-to-value of Snap is incredibly hard to beat. There are other facilities in the Pecan Grove area with similar access and similar prices, but they aren't quite up to the level of Snap in value-to-price.

In keeping with honesty, the issues with this move are NOT with the city of Richmond. The issues are squarely on YOU, the owners. The new facility was purchased Jan 2022. Due diligence was not done during the inspection. There has been issue after issue and excuse after excuse.

These issues should have been known prior to the purchase of the building. Examples are sheetrock missing from the walls and not knowing the building would have to be brought up to code are rookie mistakes. Your realtor and architect should have forseen these hurdles. The time to get them identified and resolved was NOT after getting a move out date from the previous facility.

I also noticed that none of my initial claims were refuted. They were just flat-out ignored.

As of now, I have not joined another gym. I've been making due with my own equipment at home and embracing the Texas heat outside. I still hope to get back into Snap, but we can only wait so long.

My husband and I just left this location. We normally go to grand parkway location, but I wanted to show hubby this location since he has never been (I have been a couple of times before). We each scan our badges and go in and put our stuff in the cubbies. The front desk staff (Hispanic girl with heavy makeup and average/portly build) stops us and says it shows our home location as grand parkway and that we are NOT allowed to go to this location. I looked perplexed…how did we get in if we aren’t allowed? We say we can go to all locations. She shakes her head no. She goes on to say, I will allow it this time. I said we are suppose to be able to access all locations. I also mentioned that we are with Tivy fitness your way. In which the membership is through our insurance. She says I don’t know what that is. I tell her I came on Saturday a few months ago and asked why I was allowed then. I tell her that you were at the desk that day as well. She states our system was probably down so I didn’t see that you were not suppose to be allowed to workout here. I asked if there is there a manager or someone I can talk to. She states me, meaning she is the manager or only person we can talk to. How is she a manager as she says and doesn’t know what fitness your way is? Hubby looks at me and asks if I want to stay. I tell him no not after she just made us feel like this. We go back to grand parkway location. At the grand parkway location, I asked if we can access all locations. They look up our membership and immediately they say yes you have global entry. I tell them about what just happened and at this point I am in tears. This really feels like it was racially motivated. Our badges allowed us in and should have been a sign that we are allowed to workout there. If the badge allows you to go in but you are only suppose to go to your home office, then how do they handle violators when no one is at the front desk since they are opened 24/7. This staff member needs to be reprimanded and
/or retrained in customer service. I have called the owner, Sharon, twice and have not received a call back as of yet.

I have had my membership for a while and finally decided to take the next step and go. I called and spoke to the young lady at the front desk to schedule an appointment for my free assessment. I told her I was nervous about working out and didn’t know anything about using the machines. She was so friendly and assured me they would take care of me. I scheduled my appointment with her. When I arrived, I saw a young lady at the front desk. I told her I had an appointment to see Brandon for my free assessment. She immediately said I remember speaking with you over the phone. She was very pleasant and told me jokingly get ready to sweat. We both laughed. She made me feel better about being there. I appreciated that. Brandon came and got me and had me stand on a machine that measured your whole body and told you basically everything from your weight, BMI and how many inches your arms legs etc were. I was very impressed. Brandon was very friendly and went over all aspects of how I could improve my health and what workouts would help me. He had me do some exercises to test my strength and core. He is a very knowledgeable person and made me feel comfortable about being at the gym. The staff overall was great and friendly. I will be scheduling some time with Brandon to train me. Overall I had a good experience the moment I walked in from being greeted at the front desk, taking my physical assessment and leaving the gym sweaty and worn out lol! . I’d like to thank you all for making my time there at the gym fun. Kudos to the staff!

I recently joined this gym. I love the location and convenience of the Richmond area. The staff members are willing to assist and the upkeep of the equipment is superb. I just transferred my membership here from another gym, but my husband has had his here for a couple years and had nothing but good to say. So far, the machines are always functioning and I haven't had to wait for any equipment. Brandon (GM) was easy to work with getting me transitioned over and is very accessible for questions. I also just started personal training with Savanah. She seemed so sweet and kind when I first signed up, but it's all lies! She will work you hard (in a good way... not like a drill Sargeant). She has made a few modifications for me when I struggled, but didn't let me quit. They all seem to have the customers best interest in mind and keep a clean gym.

Now is definitely the time to sign up, if you're considering it. Prices will increase a bit when they move to the old Ace Hardware building in a few months and you can lock in your rate. It will be much larger and have more equipment.

Great facility! We joined SNAP recently and decided to work with a trainer! Best decision we have made in a long time, Brandon is awesome with a great personality! It has been many years since we had been to the gym, so Brandon did an assessment with a full body scan giving him the baseline of where to begin! I loved this gym. It was so friendly and the back room has everything you need to make up your own workouts. The owner will work with you and appreciates your business. It really feels like a family there and they even have a projector where you can pick classes to display on the wall. The classes ranges from stength, HIT, yoga, kickboxing to anything you want. I’ve been going to snap fitness for almost a year now and have really enjoyed the personal attention that I’ve received there. The place is always clean, equipment is always working and it was really easy to schedule personal training with the staff. Marcus is the best personal trainer I’ve ever had. He focuses on my needs and make sure that he’s not hurting me but helping me. He’s even available outside of the training hours to answer questions and/or motivate me. During COVID shut down, Marcus would send me workouts to do at home for no extra charge but just to keep up my routine. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy a comfortable setting with a personal touch.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I work as a model, and was having difficultly finding a gym that could work with my travel schedule and fitness needs. Snap fitness has been the perfect match. Gym is nice, and equipment is well maintained. I came here as a guest while looking for a gym to sign up to but the service here was no better than any other gym. Owner is sales driven and will push that onto his employees at the cost of customer service. If this location is convenient for you then I recommend this place, but since the equipment and service is the same as other gyms I recommend a cheaper gym with more options instead. Both of my friends cancelled their memberships after my experience here.

I had been wanting to get back into the gym for a while now and Snap Fitness was just around the block. I called and spoke to Sharon. On the phone she answered every question in detail and made me want to come in and sign up. Once I got there the process of getting signed up was flawless, quick, and couldn’t have had a better first impression. The gym has everything you need and the staff is wonderful. My experience was good until I had to cancel my membership. It was easier to get out of military than getting out of their membership.

I have been trying to cancel more than a month ago. I called to cancel, they told me that I have to submit a written notice to cancel my membership and must come in person. (I had moved about an hour away). I came in person, no one is available. Try next week, the personal trainer tells me that the "staff" (owners) are not available due to an appointment. Come back a two more times but end up outside of their hours.
Finally get a hold of the staff member. She tells me she will charge me the current month, and until end of july. (Mind you it has already been two months that I wanted to cancel). I refuse, she says she will discuss it with her manager and will get back in two days.

4 days later, I get a call back from one of the trainers, Blaine, that i will be charged for July as well. The worst part is that the owners didnt want to call me themselves but instead threw it at the personal trainer to bear the news and take the heat. They want to keep every single penny, but at the expense of their employees. You love money, go earn it (or in this case demand it yourself). Dont make your employees do it for you!

Lesson: they will try every excuse to get money out of you. And that's not how a business should be run!

Loved it when I first joined. Staff and trainers are amazing. However they charged my credit card for training sessions I did not sign up for promised to reverse the charges and 3 months later I still have no resolution. In addition I informed them to cancel my membership due to family health issues in November and they are still charging me. I will not go back!
After reading the "owners" response I realize they do not have a clue what actually transpired. What they are calling past due membership fees are fees charged after I cancelled my membership.
