When is day and Met Miss Smitha is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin meaning "one with a divine smile" or simply "a smile" who funny enough smiled at me the first time I met her also Daniela and others were very polite to me and kind Miss Smitha the health and wellness manager and she changed the whole place around new equipment all around I couldnβt help myself. I wanna hit the 50s thank you guys and God bless you.

The management at this facility is tone deaf to the disabled. They insist on teaching their private swimming lessons in the only swimming lane with stairs. I can plan around their regularly scheduled lessons, but I can't utilize a facility where I am randomly kicked out of the pool. When I spoke to the aquatic director about the issue she was unable to comprehend my limitations.
I will not be going back to this facility.

This YMCA is fantastic. Iβve been going there to swim laps in the morning and the pool is clean and temperature is great. The whole pool area is peaceful amd calming. The lifeguards are conscientious, and I feel safe.
The front office staff is also very kind and welcoming. Mirabel went out of her way to help show me around when I was looking for a group exercise room and a place to stretch.
The upstairs track and area for cycling and stretching is clean and worked well for me to stretch and warm up, especially while the downstairs weight and cardio room is being renovated. Canβt wait to enjoy that area soon!

They have the most absurd rules in the pool. Even if your kids pass their swim test, you still have to be physically in the water with your kids at all times otherwise they canβt swim. Like you canβt even sit on the side of the pool and watch them. Also the lifeguards tell the kids they canβt hold their breath under water??? What are they supposed to do, breathe under water?? I understand rules for safety purposes like no running, etc, but itβs to the point where my kids donβt want to swim at the ymca pool because of the insane rules. And if your kids donβt pass the test, they have to wear a lifejacket even if youβre holding them the entire time. Itβs wild. Also the parking sucks

All young bucks working here. No manners or patience. Wish all YMCA were open more hours. In order to compete with other gyms will need lot of changes. Oak Hill needs more strength training equipment and more parking. City of Austin needs to buy nearby businesses and couple of homes to expand the location and create more parking. One on rundberg is nice as well. One in Buda is the best with lot of strength training equipment and cardio.

Love child watch!! Thanks for having crafts, outdoor time, books, and games. Iβm also appreciative that the staff limits screen time and finds other more creative ways to engage the kids while I get my workout. This kind of child watch sets YMCA apart from the competition.

The parking is limited. Saturday mornings are the worst. Today there were volleyball games, swimming lessons, and a large public event. Street parking is by residential permit only. We watched about 10 cars get ticketed. I don't think it's responsible for a place to host large events without warning people about the lack of parking or doing anything to mitigate it. This is an argument for more public transportation.

I like the weight room (free and the machines), the spin room, and the outdoor pool. All are clean, well equipped, and although the weight machine area can be a bit full right after work, I never have to wait for a machine because at least one of the things I have left to do will always be available. Off hours and on weekends the crowd level is very comfortable (ie not very crowded). The locker rooms are also very adequate and well maintained, and the staff is friendly.

I joined for the outdoor lap pool, but it is poorly maintained (often gives me a rash), overheated for exercise (87 degrees), and often closed with no notice. Serious disappointment. The small indoor pool is not set up for laps, is likewise poorly maintained (always gives me a rash), and the air and water are so hot it feels like swimming in boiling water in a humid tropical jungle.

I was expecting a lot more from this YMCA given the reviews. I'm a new member of the Y and while my closest locations are Camp Moody and Townlake, I thought I would explore other nearby options that may be less crowded. Not only was this location *as* crowded, it was also in a lot worse shape in terms of equipment, layout, facilities, and the pool. I had heard this was one of the more mellow Y's but on a random Wednesday at 2pm it was overrun with kids and all the pool lanes were filled.
The locker room was also so small and awkwardly configured people were squeezing past each other to change. This location needs a pretty significant reworking of its layout and upgrade of its equipment and interior. Namely - to get from the lap pool to the locker rooms you have to walk through the entire gym, past the dining area, and then go through the bathroom to get to the lockers. It's also a little tricky to get to the YMCA parking lot too due to construction on 290 (I can't fault the YMCA for that).

I love this YMCA! It is so convenient to get to and everyone is so kind. Every person greets you with a smile and it truly feels like home when you are there. I used to have a lot of gym anxiety and now I so enjoy coming to this YMCA location.
I have tried several classes and cycling is my favorite (Please add more cycling classes per week!!) There are still more classes I want to try as well as try the lap pool. I also so enjoy the sauna especially during the winter months. Feels so nice to go in there after an intense cardio or weight lifting session.
Speaking of weight lifting- this is what I predominately do at the YMCA and yβall have one of the best weight rooms I have been to. So many machines and weight levels to choose from!
I love you YMCSLAY!!

It's appalling that one pays $105 for a family membership only to have restrooms that aren't cleaned regularly, equipment wipes that aren't stocked and broken weight machines that aren't replaced. The second sink from the left in the men's restroom had a soapy residue for weeks (weeks!) before being cleaned.
And don't get me started on the stupid teenagers who mooch on their parents' accounts over summer and sit on a machine looking at their TikTok or Intsagram making other patrons wait. Obviously the Y isn't going to do anything because they don't want to turn off the membership spigot. This place does not have enough machines to tolerate such kind of boorish behavior.
Stay away from this garbage.

Iβve been a member since 2014 and have enjoyed the experience. Iβve found it has an inclusive culture, a great outdoor pool that is well maintained, and a substantial amount of quality equipment.
The upstairs area - elevator or stair access - has a good area for floor exercises on your own, and for getting in walking in bad or really hot weather.
Staff is pleasant and easy to work with if you have administration or membership needs. Pricing can be sliding for families or individuals - pretty much based on income levels.

My boys and I love this Ymca. I have been going to the YMCA since I moved to Austin many years ago when my children were very young. I homeschooled my children for many years and the YMCA was a little refuge for me to get a quick workout while my kids enjoyed their very friendly childcare. I currently teach my sons about the benefits of weight training and my oldest even works here as a lifeguard now. The YMCA is truly a part of my family and I couldnβt imagine life without it.

Not very crowded in the evening when I like to work out. This facility, very smartly, has not replaced its cardio equipment with that TechnoGym JUNK! TechnoGym equipment is the least user friendly stuff I have ever encountered. It is also not designed for or accomodating for very tall people (6β6β and over). Worst decision ever by Y management to replace everything with TechnoGym stuff.

I love that the Y is for everyone β people of every race, age, income, size, ability, EVERYONE. My daughter has Down syndrome and I love that there is an employee at the Y who also has Down syndrome. The yoga classes are great. The pool is fun for little kids. Personal Trainer Gary really helped me build my strength without injury; after 8 sessions with him, I am stronger and I no longer have knee pain! This Y is a little further compared to my home Y in Springs Y but I like coming here every now and then. Thursday and Sundays are when I typically come and I try to stay for at least 1 or 2 classes to make my drive worthwhile.

They donβt care about anyoneβs opinion, and the remove equipment and services to favor their targeted families, thatβs what i think.
i even wrote a letter for the director and asked for a reply, left at front desk. i watched the front desk guy open and read it in front of me! and then said nothing to me, threw in a pile. maybe the downtown Y is ok? but this makes me NOT want to work out.

I had Anna Johnson as a personal trainer for a month while i was staying in Austin for the holidays and she is so amazing! I was hit by a car a few years ago, and now i get so nervous with personal trainers, I'm 220 at 27 years old and never gotten over 180 before the accident. But with Anna she made me feel confident that i can loose my weight and that it's ok that I'm at this weight, I felt no judgement from her, i would even go as far to say she made me feel comfortable in my skin, It was an amazing environment working with her! she made a plan that doesn't affect the old injuries, and that was something i was having a hard time with! She also sent me multiple emails full of customized information just for me. I really appreciated her more then she could imagine! Thank you Anna!
If you are looking for a personal trainer, who will go above and beyond, customize your workout for you, and having a non judgement zone! Someone who can understand injuries and work with you to get you to your goals Anna is the woman for you!
I really enjoyed working with her and all the great knowledge she gave me!

we couldn't think more highly of the staff at the southwest Y - they keep us coming back daily. the branch director, andi, is phenomenal. she is professional, hardworking, personable, and leads through serving others. she knows members by name and will step away from a busy day to invest in building rapport with members & staff. we also think the world of the children's program. we love knowing that when we bring our kids to the Y that they are not just sitting in front of a screen, but being taught new things, creating crafts, playing with educational toys, running outside, and making friends. special shout out to all the childcare workers and their hardwork and patience, especially ms. elizabeth and ms. kathy. lastly the programs coordinator hailey is always always serving the community and kids. i see her tirelessly teaching, leading, and helping others through camps, programs, and events. if i haven't reiterated it enough, we love the southwest ymca and are so thankful for the incredible people who work there - y'all are truly the best of the best!

The bathrooms and lockerrooms are super clean. The facility smells wonderful. The outdoor heated pool is just lovely, especially on a briskly chilly Texan January evening. There are adequate and equitable facilities for gender non-conforming people, but the staff needs to be educated on how to communicate that before directing a person to go to the incorrect locker room. Also, the prominent Bible in the foyer does a good job of alienating people of diverse faiths from using the facility. Here, Southwest could take notes from the diversity mural at Townlake just outside the kids zone.

Not many people on this visit. All equipment/machines I used were clean and good working order. Pretty much what I'm used to at the Y.

Absolutely love coming to the YMCA! The people are so very sweet and I canβt compliment the daycare center enough. The ladies there are very kind, sweet, loving and considerate. Love coming here. There are people that work the floors to wipe off machines after every use. They scan everyone coming in, and mask are required. Thank you YMCA for being so great

The indoor pool is temperature controlled. I attended they're group and was surprised at how friendly everyone was i love the indoor track and they're day care service so that you can exercise while your children are fully supervised and intertained

I am impressed with the safety protocols YMCA is following during COVID.
I continue to enjoy BodyPump on Monday and Friday's with Betsy.

The place are really good and clean. The bad points are they closed so early, complete closed sundays and the indoor pool are closed tooπ¨ that limit so much the time, sometimes I didn't make it.
