Best gym by FAR in this area. There are never an overwhelming amount of people to where the gym feels crowded. Equipment is super solid. I’ve been to a lot of gyms (eos, klub, fitness connection) and this one knocks every one out of the park. On top of that, it’s pretty clean. I’d recommend this gym to anyone.

This gym is functional, but it falls short of its potential. On the positive side, the A/C works, there are enough free weights for serious lifting, and it has the basics covered. However, the experience overall doesn’t reflect the value being charged.

Organization & Maintenance: Weights are often scattered around the floor with little structure. Some equipment shows wear — plates are mismatched, rubber is peeling, and a few machines feel loose or in need of tightening. Nothing that stops a workout, but it does give the gym a neglected feel compared to other options nearby.

Customer Service: This is where I think the gym could improve the most. I’ve never once been greeted on the way in or out, and staff generally appear disengaged. Even a simple “hello” or “have a good one” would help create a more welcoming environment. Right now, the atmosphere feels indifferent, not community-focused.

I believe small, local gyms can thrive by pairing good equipment with great service. This one covers the basics, but it doesn’t currently offer the hospitality or upkeep that would justify its higher price compared to larger, better-maintained chains nearby.

The advertised price is not what they’re going to charge you. I signed up at 34/month and realize they were actually charging 45.
When asked about this they said the price just hasn’t been updated online. To their benefit, I was told the price was going to be honored going forward but I would not get a refund on the difference for previous months. Even if the price was changed I wasn’t told this when I signed up.
It’s been 3 months since I signed up and the price advertised still shows 34 online and it hasn’t been updated this whole time? Highly doubt this is just “overlooked”. The signup form online even says 34 monthly.

Ontop of this, the equipment is dusty on spots that aren’t surface level. Meaning the bars on cable machines, behind weights, etc. The rubber on plates are falling apart and there’s 2 different sets of plates mixed throughout the gym. You’ll also find yourself hunting for plates despite the gym being pretty low traffic. Equipment is also not bolted down properly and is just waiting to injure someone. The squat rack supports are tilting, equipment is close together so you’re squeezing between bars, and on the final day there I noticed one of the cords on a cable machine splitting apart. Bbout half the machines shows heavy signs of deterioration, loose/missing bolts, or just awkward to use like the leg press.
I overlooked this for 3 months in an attempt to support small local business, but the bait and switch pricing was the final straw. It’s also standard practice to start charging the monthly fee at the start of the next month, but I made the mistake of signing up 3 days before the month ended so I paid 45 for 3 days of gym usage. Fun!

It’s ridiculous how much is being charged for a gym under these conditions when franchises nearby charge less for better maintained equipment and even more amenities.

I don’t know if it’s possible to be in love with a gym but I am completely enamored with this place. I’ve been looking for a solid gym in the greater Houston area for the last 7 years and finally found it. The equipment selection is amazing and I kind of wanted to keep the secret of how good this place is to myself but had to share. You can’t beat the value and atmosphere!

Overall the gym was GREAT! Nice equipment, clean environment, and not hot! I like to try new gyms (as I am a powerlifter) to see different environments and this one was cool, but more for body building and regular gym goers!

The ONLY thing I wasn’t too fond of was the front desk guy was not welcoming at all and seemed very rude. He seemed as though he didn’t want to help us at all and kind of pushed us away. Maybe he was having a bad day?
Either way, the gym was cool and if you’re thinking about trying it out, YOU SHOULD. :)

I need to make this review, due to the fact that this is a model gym to shape your business around. From top to bottom, this gym understands the business, understands their people, and caters to people who care about working out.
It took me about 3/4 Day Passes to really get a feel of this place, and I have compared to other gyms in the area, but landed on this. I have worked out in other free weight gyms and power lifting gyms, and this place is just like an amalgamation of all the great things every gym can be.
I have been here for a little around a month, but have been here for the past 8 months in my visits. Every time, I’ve actually had nothing but positive and compounding good things to say about this gym. I have gotten bigger, gained my muscle mass back, and have talked to people who know more than me to do that, from both experience and theory, which helped me feel welcomed and synergistic with the psuedo-community this place has.
Even if you plan on full headphones, 0 communication, in your zone workout, this place has it all. You can get a fully body workout, and do power lifting, just with machines alone in this place. There is also cardio machines, cables, free weights, and racks for traditional power lifting and platforms for that as well.
The people are kind, this place is solid, and I would not want this to go away any time soon. I sure hope I can help positively give back as much as this place gives me.

Been coming for about 3 years but decided to cancel my membership due to the gym being taken over by teenagers. They leave plates/weights all over floor and don’t re-rack the weights after using along with coming in with groups that over crowds the gym significantly.

I love this gym, there is for sure a soft spot in my heart for it. But one thing I do have a problem with when I go is how dirty/dusty it is. If everything wasn’t so hairy or dusty and all the machines and floor got more cleaned I would have rated it a 5 ⭐️.

Update: the gym did address the music.

Disappointed. The music that is played is very vulgar. Sent an email and I was told to put in earbuds if I didn’t want to hear it. I pay for a trainer, therefore can not use earbuds. I need to hear my surroundings. Shower area is filthy and always running into an issue with broken equipment. Trash is all over the place (empty bottles, towels, etc.).

I’ve been going here for an around 3 months now. Early morning is the best time to go. I get here from 430-6am and it’s never packed. Afternoons are crowded. The weights/equipment are always scattered but not a huge deal. Showers could be kept up more but it’s a public gym after all. Lots of equipment. Only 24hr gym besides planet fitness that advertises showers! This was a big point in my decision in joining here. Price is very good for the quality here as well. Thanks SteelWorx!

I love this gym! I became an immediate regular when my local 24 Hour Fitness shut its doors in April. Like 24 Hour, Steelworx is no nonsense and they have the really heavy weights I need (up to 150lb dumbbells). Late nights are my preferred time to visit; at those hours, I typically don’t have to wait for equipment. The one irritation here is periodical run-ins with douchebags (male and female) who seem to lack awareness of personal space, vocal volume, and/or basic physics, and others who snap selfies without first checking to make sure others aren’t unwillingly included in their pictures. Although I detest encountering these loathsome people, they are the minority as most of the gym members behave respectfully. I can’t wait to get back here now that the sinus infection I had last week is finally gone!

Pretty good gym, has everything you need. It does get crowded during the afternoons but it’s not that bad, we all figure it out and the people are nice. Reasonable price (student and military discounts available) and convenient area.

My only complaint is that service is inconsistent with towels and wipes being empty many days during normal work hours when staff is there. AC and water fountain were broken at some point, which is understandable, things happen. Would have been nice to have been offered bottled water when the fountain was broken, or notified via text/email so we could come prepared. Overall, some things with the service can be improved but solid gym I do recommend 👍🏼

Just went 2times, been to planet fitness, 24hour fitness,2other gyms abroad. my first impressions are: pros: people are friendly, no membership, cheap, allot of unusual extra equipment, perfect for bodybuilding routines. Negatives: very busy, I'm missing some cardio machines like a sled and elliptical (now they have cardio only making use of legs). Overall i would recommend this gym.

You can not beat this gym for the price. It has a ton of really good and muscle specific machines that you can't find at the big globo style gyms. It's open 24 hours and the people that work there and everyone I have talked to that works out there are all super helpful and approachable. I come in for personal training as physical therapy in an outpatient setting is not challenging enough and hits my health insurance too much. Here, I can get one-one training and if I make a small mistake I don't have to go get a costly x-ray, just dust it off, get back up. However, there have been a few accidental charges on my bank account where Steelworx has charged twice in the same month. So it ends up being double. The equipment is great. I don't go at night bc I am a disabled woman and that wouldn't be safe. Plus my trainer always walks me to my vehicle so no stranger follows me out to the parking lot. If you are a woman, I recommend that you get a trainer who is working out alongside you for safety.

It’s such a good gym with good potential BUT if your someone that works during the day and only gets to workout after work, go else where. They allow the highschool kids come in groups and sneak in so many kids. I genuinely love the gym but unfortunately I’m going to have to find a main gym and have this as a secondary gym. The groups of kids and them sneaking in their friends, really ruins the gym unfortunately.

Redoing my review after using this gym for nearly 3 years, started off great and has done nothing but improved, equipment is maintained and anything that breaks is replaced quickly, the new plates are amazing and really high quality and came at a good time as the old plates were starting to see their wear and tear. The staff has always been amazing and the owners son has helped me a ton with my form and any questions I've had with different machines I've never used. The people there are amazing and any time I go to ask for a spot everyone has always been more than happy to help and the spots were always perfect, managed to hit tons of PRs through the years with these people. Not quite sure why a gym advertised for body builders has a problem with men doing exactly that having their shirt off. Anyone offended by that or creating rules like that is a pansy. It’s a great gym, but they aren’t strict at all with the fobs, so you have people coming in with GROUPS of people that don’t have a membership. And it’s only got worse because they have the big doors open during the day. As a woman it’s a little dangerous do to guys being to see what car you pull in with. I’ve already had one guy take a picture of my car. If you are a woman, I don’t recommend for safety reasons.

It’s like working out at a dance club. You’re gonna hear their music on top of yours even if yours is at full volume. Was visiting from New Jersey and I wanted to be able to go the gym. This is a serious gym with a large variety of equipment and is paradise for any bodybuilder/power lifter. I’m 15 and was still able to get a membership and workout without a parent present. I found that around 9-10 pm the gym was almost never crowded and that all the equipment was always open. The music was kinda loud but it didn’t matter cuz it was always 🔥The best gym I’ve ever been to and I will definitely be returning on my next visit.

Yes The experience for steel worx is the cancellation policy that they have in place. Initially when u purchase.a membership you receive an device which identifies you and it lets you in during odd hours. So not knowing this I was not prepared for my deployment and I called the gym explained the situation and thought my membership would be terminated. Well not that easy a charge the next month came up and the management proceeds to tell me they would need a key fob to cancel although I’m not in town to get it to them and would they terminate it 6 months and $300 of charges pulled up . The owner, Sam, is himself a competitive bodybuilder, and it was amazing being in a gym that was thought out and furnished by someone who is versed in weightlifting from a bodybuilders perspective and not some corporate shlub just trying to spend the least amount of money. The staff is always willing to talk to you, the equipment is all brand new and they are still adding new equipment, and the other lifters are nice and answer questions if you are new to lifting. Hands down favorite gym.
