The place is maintained well, the people are nice and knowledgeable. Most gyms do not welcome folks on Walkers (I am recovering from major surgery), if you are there to workout Stone's makes you feel welcome.

Years ago Stones "used" to be the gold standard for an old school gym where people go for a serious work-out. Now? New(er) ownership decided to go for the run down Anytime Fitness look and feel. Just looks and feels cheap.

I 've worked out in many gyms for the last 40 years and this gym is one of the best I've ever been to. The owners, trainers, and members are all very nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I moved to the area about a year ago and checked all the area gyms before joining. The rates are very fair, especially since it also incudes some group training classes.

This gym is the worst I’ve ever been to, they like to kick out good, honest, hard working folk. I’ve been discriminated by the owners wife too many times and I’m sick of it. Do NOT go to this gym if you respect yourself.

Read the latest review and honestly couldn’t wait to share my own experience.
The owner's response really rubbed me the wrong way. It came off as defensive and out of touch probably written by the owners wife who is known to be extremely rude and unprofessional. Not only did they misidentify the person who left the review, but they also twisted the situation completely, likely because of their own personal/political beliefs.
I used to be a member of this gym, and I’ve heard this story firsthand from several current and former members, many of whom ended up leaving because of how management handled this situation. A young guy was aggressively approached and verbally harassed by an older man in the locker room. It got to the point where the younger guy had to defend himself verbally. Even after he tried to walk away, the older man followed him out of the gym still harassing him.
It’s really upsetting to see people in leadership roles let their personal biases cloud their judgment, especially in a situation that should have been taken seriously. I expected better, and honestly, I’m really disappointed.

After over five years of being a paying member, I was kicked out because another guest started a verbal altercation with me and then they started throwing around legal threats. And what did this gutless management team do? They banned me. The victim.
Let me say that again: someone instigated an argument with me, threatened me, and then got scared and started talking about lawsuits… and instead of handling it like professionals, this joke of a staff booted me to avoid dealing with any actual conflict. No investigation. No context. Just weak, knee-jerk damage control.
If you want to support a place that rewards the loudest complainer and punishes long-time members to cover their own self interests, then by all means, sign up. But if you care at all about being treated fairly or protected as a patron, steer clear of this circus. Disgraceful.

Liberal gym, I warn you not to go here. I have never seen a more poorly run gym. Saw a nice young man get kicked out because of political prejudice. Avoid this place like the plague. Quality is going down, yet prices keep increasing.

Just joined recently,I love everything about this place; it's small (but has all the equipment I'm used to at larger gyms), class sizes are great, class variety is good, and you can always access a machine or gym equipment at most times of the day. Trainers are knowledgeable and friendly.

I’ve been a member of Stones Gym for two years, but unfortunately, I’ve had enough. They’ve decided to raise membership fees by $7 a month with no real improvements or upgrades to justify it. The equipment is old, outdated, and clearly neglected—free weights only go up to 100 lbs, and they’re missing various increments, which makes workouts frustrating. The business manager is rude and unhelpful, making the experience even worse. The only bright spot is Mercedes at the front desk—she’s always friendly and professional, which is a rarity here. The gym is filled with geriatric old people who treat it more like a social club than a fitness center. Save your money and find a gym that values its members and invests in their facilities.

Stone's is nice local gym with all the basic classes and typical gym machines that has been in the Clear Lake area for a very long time. It is not overly crowded and the staff is always friendly. The members are mostly the "older set" and the classes accommodate all skill levels. I like the yoga, Pilates and spin classes. In particular, Tek Ballesteros is a great instructor for the Pilates and yoga classes along with being a friendly face at the front desk. She does a great job in conducting her classes accommodating all that attend. Very creative so you always feels like you get a good work out and do not get bored with her routines.

This gym offers towel service, and I’m not sure if they changed washing services but almost all of the white towels have brown stains on them. They recently replaced the towels and I’m not sure these were the best option to go with, I know they make stain resistant towels specifically for gyms, these are definitely not stain resistant though, either that or they aren’t being washed properly which is even worse.

Rusty dumbells that that will leave your hands brown. They honestly are a good gym but just desperately need a renovation, like everything is just so old and dirty. Definitely not worth the membership price unless they renovate, but asides from that really nice staff

My experience at Stone's gym started out well. I took personal training sessions with John which were nice. Slowly I noticed how some equipments which were out of order never got fixed. Once the women's bathroom was clogged up with a terrible smell but the staff closed and locked it and it didn't get fixed for a couple of weeks. The AC would break from time to time so the management would turn on the fans which weren't helpful in 105 degree summer temperature. The most ridiculous thing about this gym is when you start they lure you in with how they provide the best quality service since they are a family owned business but slowly and surely you will realize how horrible their service is. Once I showed up for a class and the instructor told me, "oh I didn't know you signed up for this class. I have to run an errand so I'm going home." I would never recommend this gym to anyone. At the beginning of my gym membership I was told that I can cancel my membership if I move, but Dylan and Frankie never refunded me for my private training session which I paid for in advance but was never able to take those since I moved another state. The staff at stones gym specially Dylan will never return your call and avoid helping you in any matter once they have received your money. They are extremely professional when it comes to charging you but once their business is finished with you they don't bother returning your phone calls or addressing any issues that you might have. This is a first time I've written a review and only because I wanted to make people like me aware of how horrible this place it.

If you ever join this club, do not give them an email address. I have not belonged to the club since 2009. I have asked several times to take me off their email list and tried to unsubscribe a dozen times. They never honor your request. Received another message from Stone's Fitness Center at 4:10 AM. What jerks!

Completely disagree with negative reviews about customer service at Stone’s! We’ve always experienced friendly smiles and excellent customer service- even when issues have arose.
Cannot recommend them enough. Part of me didn’t even want to write a review because it’s so nice to have an amazing gym that’s not overly busy with great equipment and classes... but this local business more than deserves 5+ stars!

I had been a member for over a year. I have been putting off writing this review to see if the management would be reasonable.
During the shutdown, my trainer left the gym, and as i was training for a specific purpose and had been with that trainer for a really long time, i was extremely hesitant to just go with another trainer that i had never met that Stone's couldn't provide me with their qualifications right there which they should have. So i asked for my money back.
I was told that since i purchased multiple at a time and had already used some so i couldn't get a refund for any of them. I did not go in and say i want to purchase package X. I had said, "hey i want to purchase 4 training sessions with such and such trainer for the month".
When I asked if i could use the payment/credit towards anything else (group classes, t shirts, etc) I was denied.
I asked to speak with the general manager and explained my position and when I did not want to just go with another random trainer to use my credit; i was screamed at, kicked out of the facility, and my membership was cancelled by the general manager. Not once did i raise my voice or say anything vulgar.
I have been emailing them for now over a month to try and get my shutdown credit back since i was unable to apply that to the next month's membership fee and the training credit that they now prevented me from using by cancelling my membership.
At first the gym manager was responding and saying he had to pass it on to the general manager (the one the kicked me out). Now they are flat out not responding.
The management is extremely unprofessional and rude.
I just want what i was prevented from using.

I have been going here for years and have never had an issue until I needed to cancel my membership due to starting a new job in a different area. I paid my membership through out the pandemic and was told I would receive a credit when the gym reopened. Unfortunately I had to cancel my membership and instead of receiving a credit of any sort anywhere, they kept charging me money. When I called they said they I didn’t qualify for a credit and I was going to be billed an additional 30 day cycle and $15 cancelation fee on top of everything I have already paid. It’s June 15. I haven’t entered the gym since the last week in February because of the mandatory state shutdown and pandemic. The fact that I have still been charged and then up charged baffles me. I will never recommend this gyms again.

Excellent, old school gym. The gym has a great feel when you come in that makes you want to train hard. Towel service which most gyms no longer have, and the gym is open on time in the morning. I use the term "old school" because of the steel and cast iron weights versus many new gyms that use a lot of weights with pullies which changes the weight. Here, if you can lift it, you are doing it for real.
If you want to train hard, this is the gym to do it in.

I worked out here for about two years, and loved it. I only left because I moved.
It was exactly what I was looking for out of a gym honestly. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the free weights section had just about everything I needed (for squats/deadlifts/weighted chins/Bench Press/Dumbbells etc.). I never experienced anything negative from other gym goers, it was always very positive. The locker rooms are very nice too. I never took part in them, but they offer a ton of classes, and have a lot of cardio equipment if you're looking for that as well.

the equipment is good and the staff is very kind but it is the people that made me quit my membership and switch to 24 Hour Fitness. I catch their regular/daily members taunting and laughing at people who are out of shape while they work out and I was disgusted by this. these people are trying to improve their health and possible their self-confidence and you have these people laughing at them. Rude & unacceptable! I'm so sad at not returning here because the owner and his staff were so great but the members were absolutely terrible.
