Want to improve your flexibility, core strength, balance, posture, coordination, breathing and/or athletic performance? Pilates will help you reach your goal! Kristen Dockter, Gimell Ruiz and Hannah Dargahi are 3rd generation classical Pilates teachers who will give you a customized workout focusing on what your body needs. The 500 sq ft home studio is fully equipped with Gratz equipment and located in the Houston Heights. Studio KDX Pilates is a game-changer!
Kristen and Gimel are truly exceptional instructors. They bring incredible knowledge, energy, and care to every workout. What sets them apart is the individual attention they give each client—they’re always watching and correcting form to ensure you’re getting the most out of your workout safely and effectively.
They take the time to focus on both strengths and weaknesses, tailoring exercises that help you build balance, control, and overall strength. Since starting at Studio KDX, I feel stronger, more flexible, and I’m experiencing far less pain in my daily life. Plus, working out is actually fun! The atmosphere is encouraging and upbeat, making it a place I look forward to going.

As a former athlete now in my mid 50s, I have navigated more than my fair share of physical challenges after years of football, wrestling and rugby. Four knee surgeries, a bone graft and metal pins in one ankle, rupture and repair of both bicep tendons, countless sprains, multiple shoulder dislocations with reduced range of motion, joint degenerative disease in my neck and lumbar spine, and now inflammatory arthritis affecting all my joints. Add to that the reality of a sedentary job, and you can imagine how far my mobility and strength declined.

When I began Pilates with Gimell, my primary goal was simple: to move better and reduce pain. Thanks to her personalize plans, encouragement, and adaptive approach, I not only regained mobility but also reached a point after 18 months where I could safely reintroduce strength training.

Over the past six months, combining Pilates with Gimell and strength training has transformed my daily life. I’m more active, my recovery from everyday tasks has greatly improved, and I’ve experienced healthy, sustainable weight loss. Beyond the physical gains, I’ve regained a sense of capability and confidence I thought I might have lost for good.

Gimell is more than just a skilled Pilates instructor she is someone gifted with tremendous soft skills who knows how to work with complex injury histories, tailoring each session to meet individual needs while steadily building progress. I cannot recommend Kristen and her skill set enough. Her ability to identify, diagnose, and correct dysfunctional movement is fantastic. Studio KDRx Pilate has an inviting atmosphere. You feel welcome. I was referred to the Studio and met Kristen Doktor the owner and Pilate instructor almost 5 months ago. On the first day she listened to my problems: disk in lower back pain and fibromyalgia. She observed the movements of my body and for the first few weeks she used a technique to activate my muscles with simple movements to help me to establish a neural connection from brain to muscle. My sessions are personalized and they have been effective. Kristen build a strong foundation by simple movements beforehand to make trainings smooth. It has been almost 5 months that I’m taking sessions with her and she made a positive impact on my health. I have gained strength, flexibility and not to mention confidence. I was slouching when I was walking before taking sessions with Kristen and now I can walk straight and I don’t have much pain in my lower back either. I see Kristen every week to get better. My goal is to strengthen my muscle so much so that I can overcome the pain of fibromyalgia.

Kristen and Gimmel are wonderful. I'm so glad I found them. I was out of shape, had poor body awareness, and was in constant pain. I knew pilates would help and that I needed individual attention. They trade off working with me, and both have an amazing ability to adjust what we're doing to target my problem spots. When I began my journey into private Pilates lessons, I was totally unsure what to expect. I had taken “exercise” reformer Pilates that was group oriented and most a cardio workout. KDRX (Kristen and Gem) walked me through the program and showed me the difference in that type of Pilates and classic Pilates (both good but different.) I turned to Pilates about 8 months ago to improve my core strength and balance. Kristen used to be a chemical engineer and a competitive body builder, so she combines precision, body and mind connection into her Pilate teaching. She also consistently learns new skills to help her students. She has helped me to achieve and surpass my goal. She is precise, so get ready to work! I will be going to her classes forever!
