My three year old daughter has been going here for the last 4 months and she has loved it! All the dance teachers are so kind and great with the kids and we love that it is a Christian studio. We have been at Studio One for over six years and absolutely love it. We appreciate the all star high level teaching, Christian atmosphere, values, gorgeous costumes (all of them), amazing recitals, and the list goes on! My daughter has been dancing with SODC since she was 2! We have loved our interactions with every single teacher she has had. The studio really fosters her love for dance and you can see that the teachers really want these girls to love to dance. If you'd like to find a daycare or just let your kids have fun, Studio One is a great place to go. However, if you expect your kids to learn dancing seriously, it would be a waste of time and money. My daughter took the 5-8 TBJ class for one year. Although I'm less familiar with tap and jazz, I've learned Ballet for over 10 years as a hobby and know Ballet pretty well. The training provided by Studio One was very disappointing. Since observing the class is not allowed (only 15 minutes every 2/3 months or so), I don't know how the teachers instruct the kids, but have reasons to infer that the teachers rarely correct the kids' positions or movements, because it is no exaggeration to say no one kid did the position or movement correctly during the observation or recital. In fact, the recital was a disaster in my view, since no single kid danced correctly. What is worse, the teachers provide minimum feedback during the semester, and, since parents are not allowed to observe the class, I don't know how to help my daughter improve in the first couple of months, until the recital video is available in mid-Spring. Every time I asked how my daughter did in class, the teachers are not patient at all and provide perfunctory responses with little helpful information.

I understand that this is just extracurricular for young kids rather than professional training; however, I do believe that when kids learn something new, accuracy is much more important than complexity. I'd really hope that Studio One could only offer one type of dance for each class, rather than combining three types of dance for young kids their age, which is too much for them to learn so that they learned nothing (but probably easier for the Studio to make more money out of the costumes; see below). Also, for recitals, it would be much better if they could do some basic dance or barre practices with better accuracy, rather than complicated movements and turns beyond their ability.

Relatedly, Studio One puts perhaps too much attention on making profits out of the recitals instead of scientifically and systematically training the young dancers. Although the recitals are in May of the next year, the $300 costumes fee (for TBJ three dances) are charged in early Oct. Since students have to stay for at least two months, ALL registered students will be charged the costumes fee, even though they decide to drop out later, which is definitely a waste of money. Even though your kids stay for the entire year, the costumes are still a kind of waste considering they're only worn twice-- during the picture day (again more about making money out of the pricy pictures to be purchased, which is more expensive than pictures using regular photography service) and on the recital day.

Overall, I don't recommend this studio at all primarily because kids don't learn anything. There're kids who have learned four years in my daughter's class, but don't dance any better at all than others or my daughter who just took the class for the first time. I feel very sorry for their time and money. If you would like your kids to be serious dance learners, do find another studio, which provides more rigorous and professional training.

My 6 year old daughter is in her fourth year at Studio One. We love the friendly atmosphere, age appropriate dances, teachers, and Christian foundation. My daughter loves her weekly classes. My favorite thing about Studio One is their focus on helping their community here and abroad. All the proceeds from their annual Nutcracker performance benefit Lephare Orphanage with Taking Shape; in Port au Prince, Haiti. I highly recommend Studio One!

We have wanted our daughter to do ballet since she was born but were nervous about putting her in many establishments that are not particularly modest in their costumes and dances. When we found studio one we were immediately drawn in by their motto ‘…to recapture arts for the glory of God’ and we were so excited about that. Outside of that, our daughters’ teacher, Angelisa, has won our hearts and especially our daughters’ who picks a piece of candy now before every class just for her teacher and has said multiple times during our family Thankful book she is thankful for her teacher (she is 3 and this speaks volumes to us). We love Studio One and have already recommended it to other friends and will continue to do so!

We toured multiple dance studios upon moving to the Fort Worth area and I am impressed more and more each day by Studio One. Communication is great and I love getting surprise videos monthly of their routines. They had parent watch week this week and we got to watch all the kids demonstrate what they’ve been working on. For the rest of the day my daughter raved about it. In addition, I swear my daughter is learning the days of the week now. You can bet that when Monday rolls around she KNOWS it’s dance day. Only complaint I have is that our daughter would rather be at dance now than with us. 😂

Studio One Dance Center is an amazing dance studio with a fantastic well qualified staff who makes your dancer feel like family. I've had the honor of knowing the owners of Studio One Dance Center for several years now. I met them because their daughter out of nowhere came to the aid of my sobbing son outside of elementary school on his fist day of kindergarten. This beautiful soul patiently took my son by the hand and waited for him to walk into school. It was a precious moment all because of the people that raised that little girl.

We soon came to know the Brast family.

Studio One and the Brast’s are not just business owners, they dedicate their time and money helping local charities. These charities help children with illnesses find hope. They host fundraisers contributing to orphans in Africa for Gods sake, raising over $13000.

They give scholarships to underprivileged families that have a love for dancing this bringing joy to the performers and audiences alike

I love the enthusiasm of the teachers. You can see that they are fulfilling their gifts as passionate instructors.

My daughter enjoyed dacing here and we are very glad they were always very understanding of different issues she had health wise. Unfortunately after this summer's recital I'm very upset at the fact that my daughter's daddy daughter clothes/shoes (NIKE LEGGING/NIKE SHOES) were stolen from the dressing area. I don't get what room moms are for if the dressing room was crawling with mothers, and specially with one with so low morals she STOLE our items. And yes her things were stolen taken out of her bag only thing left in there was her simple flip flops. I'm very upset at the way the people in charged managed the dressing area. More upsetting is that those shoes were very special to my daughter, again I confidently say stolen because nothing was has been turned in. other than the studio not following thru with the whole only "room moms" in dressing area i guess everything else is ok

We were looking for a place for our daughter that we could trust would be in line with our beliefs and not some of the dancing we would see as inappropriate for her. Studio One came highly recommend by 2 of my friends and WOW we are so glad they did! We have been very impressed with the education she is getting in dance; accompanied with Christian music, teachers with a genuine love for what they do, and excellent administration; all founded on their beliefs as Christians and dedication to surround everyone with His love. I love studio one! The fitness schedule and the classes are first class! I have tried every workout and loved them; the small class numbers mean that I get a personalised workout from the awesome instructors. I also recently began to take aerial yoga with ember Nevill. I have been a member of SODC Fitness since they opened classes in November. The instructors are phenomenal and the classes are all of exceptional quality. Because of the small groups, the members get a lot of personal attention. The instructors know all of us by name and are creating a real family atmosphere.
SODC Fitness is different from traditional fitness studios in that you sign up for specific classes. The advantage is that you quickly get to know the other members, create accountability and bond easily. Plus you always have your spot guaranteed! I am taking some of the classes with my 12 year old son, and it is refreshing how welcomed he is, even though he may be the only kid working out alongside a group of adults. This is such a great experience for him. He learns at an early age that fitness is fun and rewarding and that commitment pays off. We love working out at SODC!

My daughter attends the ballet and jazz class and she absolutely loves it! The adult classes are great as well! I’ve done the aerial yoga workshop and Ember was an excellent instructor. I had never done anything like that before but she walked us through it and made sure we were comfortable with every pose. Recommend everything about this place :)

Staff not friendly. When my daughter decided that she did not want to dance anymore (because that's what kids do...they up and decide after you've spent lots of money...anyway) I sent a nice email to the staff and never got a reply or response at all. EDIT: I received a call from the owner who was very nice and apparently there was a miscommunication as to why I did not receive a call but the staff.

Studio One Dance Center offers a variety of dance styles at multiple levels so that my children have plenty of opportunities to discover and excel at whatever their heart might desire. They have a great group of teachers and staff that want to help my dancers achieve their full potential. In addition to having great people and variety, I especially like that they promote strong Christian values, such as modesty and kindness, and strive to glorify the Lord God in all things. I am proud to have my dancers be a part of this dance studio.

We have danced at Studio One for 7 years. We love the excellent teachers, great friendships and wonderful skills learned each year. An added bonus is that costumes are always tasteful and the music is appropriate for anyone!

Just finished dance practice for our recital this year, and I am reminded at how much I LOVE Studio One Dance Center!!! As my daughter is not only dancing to but singing "Sunday School Swing". I know when she is there she is in a great environment to learn, grow, and make mistakes because there are strong Christian leaders who will be there to guide her in the right direction. The desk is always helpful, sweet, organized and making everyone feel welcome! I can't imagine dancing anywhere else!

I couldn't decide whether to leave a 1 or a 2 star. I wasn't sure if "hated it" described my experience but I sure didn't like it and would not recommend it to anyone. This is advertised as a Christian establishment, which is what drew me in. Apart from the music the children danced to and the fact that the costumes were more modest than other studios, I am not sure in what way they operate in a Godly fashion. My experience, anyway, did not reflect that. It isn't worth outlining every detail, but on more than one occasion, I felt like I was swindled out of money, and when it was in an instance that was their fault (I was charged for a class I should not have been and was told I would not be charged for) - it took MONTHS to get the amount reimbursed. After quite some time passed, we actually decided to send our daughter back there, because she enjoyed it, and I just knew to be more cautious with my funds with this company. However - in working things out with them and getting info about coming back to the studio, the business manager literally said to me on the phone, "I'm sorry I was nice." I was FLOORED. It was in regards to the mismanagement of my payment account (the charge incurred which shouldn't have been done). In any event - we decided quickly to not attend that establishment again. I have never been so insulted or worked with a "Christian" business and experienced this level of unprofessionalism and rudeness. I wouldn't recommend anyone attend there unless you want to pay an arm and a leg and then be told they are sorry for being nice (in the event they offer you a benefit or discount or kind action). We have found a new Dance studio and are very happy!! (And I have ended up running into other former dance teammates of my daughter's that have also changed studios for the same type reasons!! I hadn't known the problem was so widespread when making my decision to leave Studio One). Happily, at the new place the PEOPLE are more important than the MONEY.
