My wife and I visit El Paso monthly and needed to find a gym to join while in town. My sister works out here and highly recommended the trainers. We scheduled sessions with the owners, my wife with Lizzie and I scheduled mine with Shane.

The sessions with Lizzie and Shane exceeded our expectations. They were both extremely knowledgeable and motivating. They are both some of the most sincere and genuine people we have ever met. If you have an opportunity to schedule a session or are looking for a gym to join, I would definitely look here first.

I have been going to this gym for around 3 months. I thought it was good at first but my opinion has changed. It is unbearably hot. I am not exaggerating this one little bit 100% of the time it’s colder outside than inside. You can not workout because of how hot it is. Don’t go here you will get a heat stroke. I have been here waiting for my friend to finish not working out Iand I am dripping in sweat. At this point I think they are trying to make it hot.

Been working out here for more than 4 years. It is not Planet Fitness (thank God). Owned by two locals and run like they care more about their members than their bottom line. This gym truly feels like home. The energy is amazing, and there’s a real sense of community. Shane and Lizzie are incredibly inspiring and kind with everyone. They even pray in the mornings before the gym opens, which I love. The atmosphere is friendly, and most of the trainers and staff are approachable and happy to help if you ever need a tip or support.

That said, the front desk experience could be improved! (Been going almost 2/3 months every day) there’s usually no one greeting members when they arrive or saying goodbye when they leave, which feels impersonal compared to the rest of the gym. Also, there’s no refill station for water bottles, just a small fountain for cups, which isn’t ideal during intense workouts.

The equipment is awesome, but the layout is tight and not always easy to navigate machines feel crammed together, and moving through the space during busy hours can be tricky. The cardio area could also use more stair machines, as they fill up quickly

Overall, it’s a great place to train with amazing people and values, If you’re a true gym rat and want a place where you can focus and push yourself, this might be your spot!!

Sun city athletic club is more than just a gym, it’s a community that has been built by two of the best trainers in the game. Lizzie and Shane are absolutely amazing!! They’re always willing to offer advice to help you reach your goals and the atmosphere is always positive. The gym offers a large variety of equipment and the garage gym vibe is one of a kind!!

My favorite gym in all El Paso! Currently reside in the northeast but I still come here each day. If you’re looking for a gym with new equipment and modern feel, this gym probably isn’t’t going to be what you are looking for. However, if you are looking for a gym with the old school vibe, sense of belonging, nutrition education and motivation then SUN CITY is absolutely where you belong! This is a locally owned gym without the large financial backers. Shane and Lizzie have put there time, heart and sweat in building this into the body building Mecca of El Paso!

I’ve been coming to this gym for a couple of years now, and it continues to impress me. The owner, Shane, is truly committed to constantly improving the facility—whether it’s by adding new equipment, maintaining what’s already there, or ensuring everything stays spotless. You’ll often see him and the staff walking around cleaning and checking on things, which speaks volumes about their dedication to quality and cleanliness.
What really sets this gym apart is the culture Shane has built. He goes out of his way to greet members with a smile, check in on how you’re doing, and make newcomers feel welcome. The sense of community here is strong, and you can tell customer service is a top priority.
Recently, I started training with one of the personal trainers, Ethan, and I can’t recommend him enough. He’s extremely knowledgeable, motivating, and will push you to get results while always making sure your form and safety come first.

Overall, it's a good gym. The gym is massive, and has tons of equipment available. Some of the equipment is outdated, but does the job. The best attribute about this gym, is the atmosphere. There's always this "happy vibe" in the air when you walk in. People are super nice and friendly. It's also affordable. That's the good, now the bad. During summer, walking inside the gym, is like walking inside a sauna. It's HOT. I don't like a freezing cold gym, but the heat in this gym is uncomfortable. I have to shut down my cell phone cause it overheats while I'm browsing for music to workout to. There's only one water station/fountain in the whole gym. For some reason patrons bring their biggest water jug from home, and fill it out at the water station. When you go to get a drink of water, the water is warm like soup. Also during summer, there's a bunch of high school/college kids, that sit around gym equipment, looking at their cell phones, while others wait. Parking can be an issue during busy hours. There's also some education institution across the gym that blocks around 8-10 parking spots for their staff. That should be illegal if you ask me. Also, someone needs to monitor the 3 handicap parking spots available in the parking lot. I'm handicapped, and 9 times out of 10, I have to drive around looking for a parking spot cause there's inconsiderate jerks, that park on the handicap parking spots illegally, without having a handicap permit. By the way, a disabled veterans license plate is not the equivalent to handicap. You need a handicap license plate/placard to legally park in a handicap parking spot.There's incoming and outgoing trucks coming in and out of the gym, so exiting or entering the gyms parking lot, can be annoying at times. And the worst of all is folks documenting their workouts. You have to be careful not to trip over tripods, or cell phone stands, or walk in front of someone's camera while they film.

I’ve been coming here for about three months, so I feel like I can now make a completely honest and accurate review. I’ve lived all over the world and been a member of a lot of gyms. Sun City is absolutely in the running for my favorite gym I’ve ever been a member of. It has an exceptional sense of welcoming community. Everyone here is very friendly and pleasant to talk to. There is not a single piece of equipment that I feel they are lacking. It has an atmosphere conducive to those who take their training seriously. I’ve read some of the negative reviews and I find them comical. No the equipment doesn’t match. No they don’t have a staff of ten re-racking weights. If you want a corporate planet fitness type gym, you won’t have to look hard. This is a family owned business, not a international chain. It’s an awesome gym, it’s very welcoming, and it has everything you need. Oh, and for $25 a month I will happily lift on equipment that isn’t painted the same color of purple. If I could give this place six stars I would.

From day one, I was welcomed into the family by everyone who works here. Geoff is the ultimate welcome crew and immediately helped me figure out what I needed help with. Shane and Lizzie are top notch and make the gym a fun, encouraging, safe, friendly, and more importantly, they make it feel like home. When I walk in the doors here I feel like I’m at home. I've been a member at this gym for 2 years now. I highly recommend the personal training sessions. After having 2 kids I struggled to get back into shape. Fantastic gym. A great variety of equipment. The atmosphere is motivating. A lot of posters of bodybuilders. Large tv screens displaying bodybuilding contestants. Very inspirational. Although the equipment is a bit old and worn, it hasn't lost its effectiveness. In general an oldskool hardcore raw place for serious bodybuilder. The surroundings can be a bit intimidating in the beginning, but it is still newbie friendly.

I couldn’t give this gym a one star cus I still got a decent pump from the workout.
Some equipment was old. Attached is the bike that Thomas Jefferson might have once owned.
What made my three start review was that it was extremely dirty. They have about 5 microfiber towels lying around that were soiled and looked dirty. All the equipment was sticky.
There was no order to equipment. Everything was just thrown around. I get they keep saying they r local and “trying their best” but my gosh have some pride in your business and for your paying customers. I can’t believe they charged me $10 for one day to use junk. I will never return and never speak highly of this place.

The gym itself is good if your looking for unique machines but since they don’t usually have a lot of the same machine your probably gonna need to wait, work in with someone, or find a different machine. Same with the weights you might have a hard time looking for plates or dumbbells but that’s usually only when it’s busy. If you want something more basic and less variety then another gym would do you better. The only main problem I have with the gym is its hours on the weekend, on the week they close at 10pm I think and at 6pm on the weekends but I don’t get out of work till 5pm at the earliest on the weekend so I have to find somewhere else to work out 2/7 days of the week, it’s understandable since it’s locally owned but I think 10pm isn’t too late to be opened all week long. The second thing I don’t really like is the lack of working treadmills, there’s other options for cardio like stair master and ellipticals but I prefer the treadmill and usually there’s at least one or two out of order and there’s only around 6 total treadmills.
(Edit) owners responded quickly and addressed the issues I talked about instead of just ignoring them like a lot of other places do so to me it shows a lot more character on the owners part and it shows how much they truly care for their business and they’re members.

This was a great place to workout when I first started at this gym. I was with them for about 2 years. However, when Covid hit we were informed we could not cancel our membership as it would affect their business. They sent an email out saying no cancellations would be made due to Covid restrictions. At the time I decided to stay with it as I believed I’d be going back. Fast forward to May 2022, I cancelled my membership as I wanted to switch to a new gym. I filled out their cancellation form in person and assumed all would be taken care of. As of September 2022, I was still being charged. I went in again in person to voice my concerns. The attendant did not make me fill out the form as I instructed him I had already done so. He then made me right out on a paper my information which I never received a call. Now in October of 2022, I am still being charged. When I asked to provide a refund the owners informed me I could not get one as a form had never been filled out. These owners at first seemed like genuine people. But over time it has shown they have favorites in their gym and do not care about running a business. This is extremely unprofessional. If you’re looking to switch here my suggestion is don’t.

I came to this gym “Sun City” 4 years ago as a stepping stone. What I mean by that is that I was waiting on the Planet Fitness on Artcraft the one behind Walmart to be built. Planet Fitness has been built for a couple of years now & not once have I gone there. I’ve passed by there but have not gone in & I have no need to as I feel very comfortable at Sun City, the Vibe there is just so Sun City meaning it’s uniqueness . This is THEEE BEST gym in the 915 by far. Whether you’re coming in for the week on vacation or plan to be here for a while I wouldn’t recommend any other gym. Sun City has all the equipment you need, well maintained to get you towards your goals. I love going there because it is such a fun encouraging environment with no judgement. Trainers are always happy to help and will spend time with you answering questions you may have.

The staff is great. Everyone says hello and helps you out if you need anything. They have fresh towels for you when you work out, which is awesome. Owners are always on hand and really bring a great vibe to the place. Multiple machines for each body part you are trying to work out so you are never waiting around for someone to finish. Tons of dumbbells and other free weights.

BEST GYM I’VE EVER BEEN A PART OF. I recently just had a baby and was feeling insecure about going to a gym because most gyms you automatically feel judged for not being in the best shape.. but not this one! Everyone is super friendly and encouraging... it feels like a family. They have TONS of equipment so you never have to be waiting around. Shane and Lizzie are SO KIND, knowledgeable and hard working. Best Gym In El Paso 🙌🏽 trained with Lizzie for over 4 years, lost 25lbs and gained muscle & knowledge with her. gym feels like home, so much cool equipment you won’t find at a standard gym. Love that I can dress cute and not feel weird around the guys, I felt like I was part of a community here. I recently moved and miss the gym so much! Haven’t found anything like it and probably won’t. This gym has all the characteristics of a good overall experience. I have been a member for approximately 5 years and I have never felt more comfortable and safer than this gym. This is the best gym anyone could go to! Lizzie is by far the best trainer any human being could have! With her help and meal plans and all the advice she has given I am in the best shape I have ever been in. Shane is always around motivating as well… they are Barbie and Ken and the nicest humans ever.. the gym is friendly and welcoming I highly highly recommend this gym if you want to get healthy in a fun and welcoming place! I have gone several times as a guest because one of my friends takes me there. Let me tell you, I would not recommend this place to anyone for several reasons. They always have the same playlist, whenever we as guests/members want variety, we get tell by the front desk staff that "Shane doesn't like that music". What an unethical way of thinking, when we pay to be there. Non only is this unacceptable, but also the restrooms are dirty all the time with stains that have been there for a bit. the gym needs a lot of maintenance and yet, they keep adding unnecessary stuff like lights and clothing store but can't fix their air or ceiling. Horrible experience, horrible staff. Do not come here.

Shane! My coach has helped me so much since day 1! I am super happy with my so far results! I have lost about 24lbs and Im just about to hit my 3 month mark! It’s been such an amazing journey for me. I moved to the other side of town so no longer can go here. I never would've gotten a membership if I knew how impossible it would be to cancel it. I filled out their form to cancel back in March yet still got charged a month later for May. I have tried calling, emailing, DMing them on Instagram only to be ignored and charged at least one extra month so far. If they have not solved the problem by this month that will be $50 stolen from me, all while I am ignored, literally left on read by a company. This customer service is trash, and this problem is absurd.

A gym that is so much more than just a gym. It feels like a home, everyone is super friendly & approachable. Shane & Lizzie we’re my 1st fitness inspirations and some of the hardest workers I know. Have been coming here since I moved back to El Paso in February. I’ve tried a lot of different gyms, and can honestly say this one is my favorite. They have every machine you could ever want, (and if they don’t, just tell them and they’ll probably get it.) a ton of free weights, and a super positive vibe you can feel as soon as you walk in the door. All the other members have been kind and encouraging, and it’s overall just a great place to be. Not to mention that there’s an actual sense of community between the members, unlike some average commercial gym. Super happy to be a member!

I’ve been going to sun city for three years. Neil is my trainer and he is the best trainer I’ve had! It’s such a great gym I’ve referred my family and friends there and they also love it! Atmosphere of the place is nice and they have some very good (although very used) machines. The only things that I do not like is the how unorganized the plates and dumbells are, aswell as for how unlclean the gym is. They are basically everywhere and some dumbells are missing pairs. I have been part of other Gym establishments in the past and even though I would go and get my workout done, Suncity Athletics has been a game changer. The owners Shane and Lizzie are the best at what they do, each member gets a personal touch when it comes to diet, one on one training and even counseling (lol).
