I stumbled across Sweat440 when I was taking advantage of a $5 promotion of ClassPass access. I found the classes challenging, but do-able; I liked that you could come in whenever, bang out a workout, and though you are working out alongside other attendees, you don't necessarily have to engage as much with them as you might have to in other class formats. The music is usually good and it is conveniently located.

When I came in for my first class, the manager walked me through much of the first session, coaching me on my posture and technique, which is what I knew I needed a lot of help with. The coaching was appreciated, and for this reason, I decided to sign up for a membership.

However, that manager left after a couple of months, and since then, management hasn't seemed very interested in being on the turf with us and assisting with form, unless it is someone that they are obviously buddy-buddy with, (or maybe wanted their phone number!)

That is, until Lana started at the Highland studio.

Lana has been the best trainer at this gym since I started almost two years ago. And there have been a LOT of them. Management has cycled in and out quickly in the past, which was tough on the trainers, who would end up throwing in the towel as well.

But Lana has stuck around.

She always has a smile on her face, and welcomes everyone warmly by name.

She is on the turf whenever possible, helping every person out - the newbies and the vets - while cheering us on and encouraging us.

She is there with a sani-towel as we finish our sets, or wiping the equipment down for us, before we can get to it ourselves!

She has been great for her staff. Turnover seems lower, and the trainers are following her lead on the turf and assisting us wherever they can. In the past, the trainers could be stand-offish or seem disinterested and checked out. Her influence on the rest of the trainers is definitely showing lately.

She knows us - she asks us about our fitness goals, but also knows about our lives, our backgrounds, our fears and our wins. She is great at getting people chatting with each other, too. A lot of us have been coming here for months and haven't really spoken to one another, but that has changed. There is more of a "team" vibe now than there ever has been.

She is also (seemingly) in the studio 7 days a week, and I recently found out she has even moved super close by, just to be present whenever she is needed.

Anyway, I can be just as guilty as the next guy - only coming on here to leave reviews when something negative happens at a place of business - but I felt compelled to come on here and give a shout out to y'all. Keep up the great work!

I love the appeal of the variety of class times and exercises offered every single day. The lunch time slots are fantastic, and being able to fit in a class as late as 7pm is just too good to pass up for those of us who are not 6am'ers.

When the exercise isn't something I want to do or my body can handle, it's easy to modify and you can also ask one of the coaches what exercise would be good to substitute. The coaches are friendly and offer good feedback on technique, and generally look like they love their job. Also, I really love the playlists during the workouts. Perfect for elder millennials.

My only complaints are that:
1) Sometimes station 1's TV doesn't work for days straight on one side of the station (with 2 exercises), which is a bit annoying when technique is important to prevent injury. 2) It's frustrating when the cleaning wipes are gone, and there aren't enough cleaning towels to wipe down the station. 3) Upper body days leave out chest exercises too frequently, according to my partner who has been going for 6 months.

Definitely take advantage of the first week being free, to decide if it's right for you!

Love these classes! The pace is great for a HIIT workout - goes by so quick and I always feel great afterwards! It can be tough sometimes but also you can go at your own pace. I love the format of it feeling like you’re in a group class but at the same time you’re almost self-guided as you follow the workout on big screens above you, with countdowns. A new class starts every 10 minutes so if you’re a few minutes late to your slot you can get start in the next one, which I’m grateful they honor with Class Pass, too. There are different focuses on different days (upper body, lower body, etc). Staff is super friendly and helpful to make sure you’re doing the moves correctly throughout, and motivating! Definitely recommend.

I have been going to Sweat 440 for about a year and a half, and have really enjoyed my time there. The format of classes every 10 minutes allows for flexibility with scheduling and the variety of exercises keeps it interesting! Coach Kenneth has been around since I started and is a big part why I have continued going. He always makes the atmosphere fun while giving exercise modifications that fit my abilities. Updated review to 5 stars. Over the past few months, this location has hired back some of the original trainers and their new trainers are really getting into the swing of things. They've also just reopened the mid-morning hours, which helps a lot with convenience. The new trainers I've been working with have been very mindful and helpful about navigating my injury and finding substitutions when needed. To the gym owners, thank you for taking the feedback of the community to heart :)

ORIGINAL (OCT 2024 - 1 STAR)
I’ve been an unlimited member of this gym for over a year, having started back when Candace was running things. I would train in the mornings several times a week and my classes were almost always taught by Angie, Kenneth, or Candace, and occasionally David. I loved every single one of these coaches immensely. They were what kept me coming back. I say this in the past tense, because within the past year the management of this gym has changed and every single one of these coaches has left.

The reasons I loved Sweat 440 so much were the trainers and the feeling of community that the gym had. I knew most of the people who came to workout in my time slot and I knew all of the coaches. What was most important to me however, was that the coaches all knew me. I have a previous injury that can flare up very easily if I don’t have perfect form, and every single one of these coaches would go above and beyond to constantly micro-adjust my form, make sure I was doing preventative stretching and exercises, and even come up with exercise substitutes ahead of my class if they knew there were exercises that would aggravate my injury.

At one point I went too hard during one of the gym challenges and aggravated my injury. I had to take a few months off to recover. When I tried to come back I guess the management had already changed, because Sweat 440 cut the exact hours that I used to always come in (10-11am). This was the only reliable time I could make it to the gym every day. Because of this, it took me a few MORE months to be able to rework my schedule to be able to come back regularly. This is particularly annoying, as most of the marketing for Sweat 440 is around convenience. This change was anything but convenient, and it’s now a hassle for me to make it to the gym every single time.

The biggest issue though, is that the new management of this gym has done SOMETHING that’s caused every single one of their dedicated, loved, and qualified coaches to leave. The coaches are literally the heart of this business. If I just wanted a HIIT workout I could pay $10 a month for Apple Fitness and use my free apartment gym that has most of the same equipment. What made Sweat 440 worth it to me was the coaches and the individual attention that allowed me to work out effectively with minimal risk of injuring myself again. Kenneth was the last remaining coach that I knew and trusted, and as of last week he has also left because of the new management. Since Kenneth leaving, every time I’ve gone I’ve been basically ignored by the on duty coach and have had to try and correct my own form and come up with substitute exercises on the fly just to be able to complete a class. It hasn’t been going well, to say the least. The most common state of Sweat 440 that I’ve experienced now seems to be not having a single coach on the floor while people are exercising. If I were just starting at this gym today, I would not continue my membership.

This gym no longer feels like a community to me. It also no longer feels like an effective, safe, and supervised form of working out. It’s no longer a place I recommend to any of my friends either. The quality of coaching has decreased just as drastically as the prices have increased. I'll give this place a few more months to adjust to the growing pains of employee turnover, but if things continue in this direction I'll be considering canceling my membership to either go it alone or find somewhere else where I can trust that I'll be supervised during my workouts.

I love this place so much! I’ve been a member since 2023; went for the free class and immediately signed up for a year. The studio is clean, the workouts are fantastic, and the staff is amazing. I also like that classes start every 10 min, which is extremely convenient for people’s schedules. While there was some management changes two months ago that caused a couple issues, once Tommy started as the studio coach the issues were taken care of. He personally reached out to make sure my concerns were addressed, and is nothing but kind, friendly, and motivated to have Sweat440 be the best it can be. I am thankful we have Tommy!

I genuinely love this studio, and cannot imagine my life without it. I always leave the studio feeling a little stronger than when I went in. I have been a member for a year and a half and I’m so disappointed in management. The most consistent best coach, coach Kenneth, is no longer at 440 and new management cannot get the gym open on time. They say they open at 5:45a and we were waiting there until 620a this morning and no one was still there when I left. In fact, someone sent a message on the Instagram app and got a reply that the new manager had overslept and wouldn’t be there till 635a at the earliest.. If this is a preview of things to come, I will be canceling my membership.

I love the frequency of the classes. Traffic is unpredictable and I get stuck at work often. Classes every 10 minutes is great. No more late cancel charges! You are constantly moving and rotating, so 40 minutes goes quickly. The focus is on weight training, less on cardio.

I stepped in for a free class offering and was BLOWN AWAY! I was thinking it was going to be like your traditional OTF or burn all the calories away mentality studios, but was pleasantly surprised.

1. The staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. They are experts with movement demonstrations and will allow you to meet yourself where you are at.
2. The workouts are very well programmed (from session to session and throughout the week).
3. The format is very fun and engaging and super helpful for people looking for a quick but effective session.
4. There is actually a focus on all aspects of physical capabilities (strength, conditioning) and nothing about calorie burn.
5. Everyone who attends the classes is super nice and friendly. I felt right at home even on the first day.
6. The studio hosts a ton of community events.

Sweat440 is amazing! The thing that stands out to me the most here is that all of the coaches are all both very encouraging as well as very helpful when it comes to providing feedback on form and adjustments to make sure you don't get injured.

The workouts themselves are no joke. They're self-paced and have a good mix of upper body, lower body, and cardio - and all of the exercises are low impact which I appreciate. I absolutely work way harder at this gym than I ever would at any traditional gym.

If you're someone who's out of shape and coming in for the first time like me, you can expect to be sore for a long time after the first few workouts (I was literally sore for a week). But give a few classes, it's totally worth it and gets better the more you go! This gym is honestly the best investment in my health that I've made in years.

I used to be on ClassPass until I realized I was only spending my credits at Sweat440 - now I'm a member and love it. I love how easy it is to book a class and show up with little pressure, just need to do my best and move through the movements on screen. Forty minutes goes by so fast in this workout. I needed a place to get/feel strong, work through my stress and anxiety, and frankly get the endorphins I need to make it through the daily slog that it can often feel like when parenting a small human! If I start to look healthier and more fit … that’s a great bonus.

As a complete beginner I was intimated by regular gyms where I would be expected to know what to do, how to do it, and how long I should do it for. Thankfully, my dear friend @laegg brought me as a guest to workout with her one day at Sweat 440 and I was hooked. The fast pace! The support! The ease of being able to modify every exercise to my level! The fact that every hard exercise only lasts 40 seconds at a time (my favorite part).

My first three classes I was calling over the floor trainers to help me modify a lot - especially for core exercises where I realized I was hurting my low back trying to compensate for my lack of core strength (thanks, C Section). They were SO supportive and SO non-judgmental 🥹🥹

They say on their website that they are the best HIIT workout for a busy lifestyle and I 💯 agree. 🙌🏻

Can’t say enough good things! Class times being every 10 minutes are so convenient if you’re running late in traffic or want more time to warm up. I love that the exercises are so varied. I hate repetitive cardio like running so this is great and fun. Welcoming atmosphere, doesn’t have an intimidating or competitive feel between participants. It’s just you vs yourself. Loved this place!!! I came here over the holiday weekend with my sister in law. Absolutely loved the workout and the unique circuit concept. Kenneth was the trainer/instructor that day and was very attentive making sure I understood the equipment and some of the motions. I’m not new to weight training but I have not worked out in a gym since Covid so I was slightly intimidated by the ropes and the bike, but it was all good! Even impressed myself a bit. The facility was extremely well maintained and had showers and lockers. A great experience all around.

The coaches treat you like family. Coach Brian was the first coach I met - his energy is infectious and instantly made me feel at home. I like to tell my friends it’s like a challenging adult gym class every 10 minutes. It’s fun, hard, and no one is there to judge you (only support you!).

One of my ABSOLUTE favorite places to be! I’ve done CrossFit and then I spent a few years doing Legree (megaformer) Pilates, and this place has provided a needed change for variety. The pace is just perfect and it changes up every class so you can never get bored.
I’m particular fond of how the music choices seem to change with the instructor… not sure if that’s a thing, but Angie and Kenneth know a thing or two about keeping you motivated. Kenneth is particularly skilled at understanding proper form and necessary modifications, while Angie wastes no time in quickly helping you get the move correct for each circuit. They are truly and asset to this gym experience.

This place has become my favorite gym to go to! I came as a guest with a friend in January and felt super encouraged by the fact that all of the workouts were doable and still challenging. And as someone who is frequently late to things due to Austin’s inconsistent traffic, I love that classes start every 10 minutes. Since classes are only 40 minutes long, I feel like I get a lot accomplished fairly quickly. I’ve been coming about 3 times a week since January (minus a week where I took off to train for a race), and I’m SO pleased with the results. I’m stronger, and I genuinely enjoy working out now and look forward to classes both in the mornings and the evenings. If you told me back in December that I would be a workout girly, I would’ve actually laughed out loud, but now I’m going into the summer with abs😌 10/10 would definitely recommend Sweat440!

Finally got to try out this new concept of drop in 40 minutes classes.
I have to say, it's really easy to grasp and just pop in.

I've done classes ranging from crossfit, f45, barry's boot camp, orange theory, etc. Sweat 440 is definitely very high up there in terms of quality of workout.

I would definitely recommend trying out the workout for yourself!~

Location is what drew me to Sweat 440, but the people, prices and workouts are what made me want to stay! I work at the ACC building, so having a place this convenient and affordable is amazing and I also really enjoy the workouts. I am also a student so the 50% student discount is literally unbeatable anywhere else in Austin! They also did a corporate discount with my work! I highly recommend this place! The staff is also just THE BEST!

If you’ve been to orangetheory, F45, eat the frog, 9rounds etc. this is definitely the better option! Not only is the membership price reasonable, the coaches are attentive, the equipment is new and clean, the workouts are killer! Everyday is different and attacks a variety of muscle groups so you’re not left lacking. Highly recommend if you’re a student near the ACC area!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!
As a single mom of 2 young kids, working full-time in healthcare, it's hard to find time to work out. At home workouts would quickly unravel due to mommy ADHD - remembering to put clothes in the dryer, or a child that has an "urgent need" or suddenly remembering the need to add something to the grocery list. Taking classes, I'd always feel rushed to get there or would get there late. And trying to do my own workout at a gym is not my jam. It's so nice to turn off my brain for a little bit and have someone else guide my workout.

These workouts go by fast! They start every 10 minutes so its hard to make excuses to not squeeze in a 40 minute workout, 3 times a week. I just finished my 3rd week. The trainers are fantastic! I love working with Jordan! She truly loves what she does, is so encouraging and pushes me to do my best!

So thankful for this gym!

Listen here… if you’re looking for a convenient (aka a class starting every 10 minutes so that it can fit your schedule), challenging, kickass HIIT workout… you’ve found your gym! I am so beyond happy I stumbled upon Sweat 440 a little over a month and a half ago because I have been looking all around Austin for a gym that would fit not only my workout needs but also my work schedule. Love this place so much, their prices are so reasonable, have such a good commitment policy AND have great coaches. What else could you ask for?!

I love Sweat440! I’ve been attending for about a month and a half and only have amazing things to say. The model is so convenient - you can start a workout every 10 minutes. The workouts are varied and challenging but I always feel comfortable - never judged or pressured - if I have to modify an exercise. All of the coaches are SO motivating and positive and fun, and are always there to help with questions and form. They really create an inclusive environment where I feel welcome every time I step in the gym. All the members are friendly as well - I’ve met some awesome people and even a gym buddy (shoutout to Brigitte!) on day one! Highly highly recommend trying them out!

When I say that doing a workout here will have you SWEATING BULLETS I’m not even joking 🥵😂. I’m a gym enthusiast myself and this was my first time taking a class here this morning. 4 stations with 3 exercises each and all of them are challenging in their own way. The coaches here were very welcoming and encouraging showing me proper form and they weren’t intimidating at all. Space is clean and overall it’s a good vibe. Definitely coming back for my next one for sure!

My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and wanted to try a workout here. We loved it so much we came back the next day! I've had my fair share of group fitness classes and this by far is my favorite. I truly never felt like I was in a "group fitness" class but rather a training session with my personal trainer. The coaches are motivating and encouraging and many times I felt like I was getting my own one-on-one time. The way the workouts are set up, a new group starts every 10 minutes so no worries if there's traffic, wake up late, work ran over, etc. because life happens. A lot of times trying new workout studios or various gyms can feel intimidating or overwhelming and I can honestly say I never once felt that. We had an absolute blast and so badly wish we had a Sweat 440 near us. We would've signed up in a heartbeat!

I have been very impressed with their entire operation. I must confess that I was a bit concerned about jumping into such a program with my 74 year old body! But the incredible staff members quickly put my mind at ease. They have all gone the extra mile to assure that I use proper technique as well as appropriate weights, etc. Plus they are always encouraging progress and a pleasure to be around. An awesome team!!
Another big plus is their convenient scheduling which makes it easy to fit into your day.
But I guess the most impressive aspect of the program are the results gained from these workouts. I'm amazed after just 4-5 workouts how much my body has transformed. I feel great!
