First heard about this place after my son went to a friendβs birthday party here. Eventually, he started taking classes here and just loves it. The coaches are awesome and heβs a sweaty mess after, which I love because he gets a workout but has fun while doing so. So grateful to have this in town and close by!

My son has attend the parkour classes here for last two years, from Tadpoles to PK All Day, also summer camps. The workout there is really fun. The coaches are amazing. The front desk is very friendly and flexible when scheduling the make-ups. Not to mention that the tuition is very reasonable compared with other gyms. Highly recommend the kids to attend, and attend at least two classes per week.

Staff here are great! They are great to deal with at the front desk and the instructors are all great with the kids.
It is definitely a fun space with a different vibe than just going to a gymnastics gym.
There is also lots of seating options for parents hanging out during class, a counter outside the gym with giant windows for you to watch, picnic tables inside the gym, and couches near the front desk.

My son has been doing weekly lessons at Tempest for two years, and it's one of the best decisions we've ever made. Has he learned cool vaults and flips? Yes. Has he learned how to safely fall? Yes. (My niece jumped from 12 feet and broke both feet and his first comment was, "parkour would have taught her how to land that...") Have his confidence and athletic ability soared? Yes. But most importantly, he's learned grit, which is a life skill that can be so difficult to teach. Some parkour skills have not come easily, and he's learned to be okay with not getting it right the first time, whereas he used to move on to something different if it wasn't easy. He has also learned how to reflect on his craft. The attached photos are of him and Coach Will after he earned his light blue band. Immediately after the test, he began telling Coach Will what he wanted to work on to continue his journey. We are so proud to be part of the Tempest family.

Such a fun and awesome place! We take our 4yr old son and he always has a blast. The coaches (Coach Peach and Coach Chris) help provide structure and are so good with the little ones (which lets face it... is hard to wrangle up a group of toddlers!). Staff is also very friendly and the group sizes are perfect, they almost feel like private sessions. Not to mention, the fact kiddos can run around safely is peace of mind for sure. Great place to check out!!!

It might not be for everyone but it is a Great activity for all kids and adults.. the cost is Affordable for this this specialty type activity. And the coaches are very friendly, educated in what they do, and patient. Both my sons really love parkour. They mix up the activities and the floor layout each week, so the kids are always doing something new and interesting. My younger son recently had a bad experience at another camp over the summer and came back to parkour skittish and anxious - TJ, one of the coaches, immediately comforted him and engaged him in different activities before slowly integrating him back into the main class as my son's comfort level grew. I was impressed that they were so nurturing with the little ones.

This place is amazing! My 12 year old wants us to move closer so he can go all the time. We live in Oklahoma. We rented a hotel room for the week and during this time he developed a newfound self. Confidence he didn't know he had. The coaches were awesome. Safety first, respect second and all of it with a glad you are here smile.
I don't know what he misses most parkour or T.J., Bonus, Taylor, Michael and the rest of the gang. The commraderie was magnificent. Thank you guys for treating us like much more than a $ sign. By the time the week was over we felt like close friends. And very much appreciated.
T.J. you are the best man. It wouldn't have been the same without your presence. You monkey men have what it takes. Btw, Ayden says hi guysπ¦πππππ΅

My son loves it here. Heβs really enjoyed his classes, and the coaches are really great with kids and enthusiastic. The coaches are also very talented in their own skills. I do wish communication was better in that there was some sort of feedback to parents to know how their kiddo is progressing. And I do wish a coach would walk around and help kids during open gyms or set up skills or vaults for the kids to work on. I think a lot more kids would do open gyms if that were the case. I know open gym isnβt a class but having someone walking around and providing small amounts of assistance would be really beneficial. I do think the classes are really great though, and my son looks forward to going to them every week.

I have been to all of the Tempest locations now, and though it is the smallest, Southlake uses its space very well. I wish it was in California, so I could train there regularly! as for the staff, I they are all welcoming and working on improvements in their training which spreads to those around them. if you are ever stuck/bored they are an excellent resource of stoke. If you ever get the chance i'd highly recommend heading in for a open gym or a class. If you are anything like me, you'll end up staying for years

I stopped by while I was in town to check it out and I have to say that the coaches are the reason to come here. They're welcoming and really know their stuff. As an adult beginner, I felt like it was a safe space to try out some skills that I've been working on without feeling like I was being watched or judged. They were watching, of course, but it was more like they were supporting me rather than trying to fix me. There's a lot of fixing to do, but I was impressed with the guidance.

I started Parkour with Tempest for the very first time ever, at the age of 27 (I hadn't even stepped on a trampoline ever before by that time)
I always wondered whether I'm good enough to start training Parkour. The staff at the Tempest have truly been remarkable in getting me through this journey. They have always made learning steps into progressive training, that is trying out easier version of a move first before going on to the actual tougher one.
That being said, the gym is very well equipped with safety equipments so that you can progressively train in safety, if like me you're initially scared of starting out on your own. It also has fun challenges and lines which you can keep exploring in your own time.
For all the super duper experienced people, quite a good professional crew also come to train around, with whom you can build networking and do fun stuff (some of them have also helped me a lot in open gym).
The only caveat which I find here is they may have expensive merchandise, if you really are looking for some (I'm looking for a discount Tempest people π )

I've been going to this place since the soft opening in 2018 then a bit off for own reasons. and back again. It always presents new challenges and people that turn in to friends. The classes are taught by top notch individuals. The gym... its got a something for everyone. a super tramp, a tramp wall, an area for tricking, a foam pit which has a lot of room, several areas to climb or do chase tag. It is a conglomerate of activities. The prices for open gym are great for the hours that they are opened. I've been recomending this place since day one to people I know.

The culture at this gym is getting it right. Parkour and freerunning are about building up the whole person, not showing off. It has been a pleasure to watch the new leadership at this gym dive into crafting a culture that leads kids through a process of learning movements and body control while emphasizing safety. All this, while teaching them about not giving up, and about how to do more than they thought they could do. I have seen this approach before during the current leadership's tenure at another gym. The affect that this approach had on young people, when they succeeded at things they thought they could not do, bumped up their general confidence. To see kids' confidence grow as their ability grows is really a sight to behold. The new leadership at Tempest Southlake emphasizes safety, perseverance, and incremental improvement. Whether your kid is a star athlete or is struggling with body awareness or confidence, this will be a place of growth for them!

My family has had a very difficult time with the management at Tempest Free-running Academy. The staff did not have good communication between each other as well as with our family. One staff member would say one thing to us while another staff member would tell us something different. We also found religious discrimination as we were not able to participate on Sundays for religious reasons, but that is the only day they offer the five minute testing in order to progress through the class. The manager was not willing to be flexible for my sonβs testing. Also, the manager supposedly lives in California while this gym is located in Texas. This is probably a big reason for the lack of communication between the staff-manager and families. Because of this, the manager is not able to truly lead, guide and know the participants or the staff.
I truly wish this company the best, but I want people to be aware of the likely breakdown in communication and lack of flexibility that you may encounter.

It's a great place that we found totally on accident. My soon who's getting out there and running/jumping around and i he's learning how to do it safely. The instructors are great with the kids and parents plus it's not very expensive for the classes. The lounge upstairs is a great pace for parents to wait and watch the kids learn without being in the way our a distraction. Overall I would say great value for the money and a great way to let kids of all ages get out and burn some energy. I would recommend to anyone with children.

Tempest Freerunning Academy is by far the best gym for parkour/gymnastics/tricking that I have ever been to. Aside from having a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment, the ambience is unlike any other.
Unlike other gyms that make you feel like an inmate at Arkham Asylum, Tempest has marvelously decorated obstacles that make you feel like a character from an action movie/video. Everything is made to look like rooftops, parking garages, Bridges and more. They have even got a variety of American Ninja Warrior obstacles such as the warped wall and quintuple steps.
Moreover, the staff is very friendly and co-operative. They are always willing to help.
Not very experienced in freerunning? They offer classes too!
