Jessica and her team did above outstanding for my wedding on July 9, 2022. When my previous venue cancelled on me, The Downtown Club was available and the team instantly invited me and my husband out to view and tour the venue. We loved that the venue was spacious, had lots of windows and lighting, and had a cute gem of a bar. On the day of the wedding, the service provided by The Downtown Club was far superior than I've witnessed anywhere else. The food and drink tasted great and the dining tables and decor were outstanding. Before the wedding, Jessica was really responsive and wonderful at answering all of our questions. If you are a Bride looking for a wonderful Downtown Houston Wedding Reception experience, this is definitely the place to book! Also, this venue is great for professional events as I have participated in a few business meetings at the Downtown Club as well.

Have to pay a whole $5 for parking because the club wasn't open during its normal business hours on a Sunday. The pool is located at the Four Seasons hotel and is a major hassle to use. That's the main reason why I go there.

Fancy. A little expensive but good experience. Parking not great and in line with cost of place. Food was good but not worth the price. Your paying for the ambience.

I signed up for a gym membership last year. I was not allowed to tour or have a trial day(s) beforehand in order to receive the special rate/reduced fees they were offering. 1st red flag. After joining and attending the gym for about 3 days, I quickly realized this was not the gym for me. The older women in the pre-work crowd are unfriendly and very cliquey and it's embarrassing for women that old to behave in such a way.
I quickly called and explained it wasn't going to work out and that I would be cancelling. They understood, my auto-pay was cancelled, and I have never been billed since cancelling the membership. I assumed that was the end, I had this gym membership for less than a week and even had trouble remembering it when I received a call almost a year after cancelling that I had an overdue balance of $600-700.
I had signed up for auto-pay and was never charged after cancelling so someone has obviously done their paperwork wrong. I have never received a single invoice or piece of mail. More importantly, why would they continue to charge for a membership that someone is not using or paying? Would someone just be able to have an active membership and not pay? It never occurred to them that something may be wrong or the member should be contacted?
They allowed this bill to just increase to no end in order to get the most out of it? These are the kind of shady business tactics that I would expect from 24 hour fitness or something. Multiple people in my office and building attend this gym I will be telling all of them that this is the kind of business they conduct.

I was extremely let down with the hosting of my event.
-the AC was not working
-fans were brought out at 11p and looked AWFUL
-everyone is dropping in sweat in all the pictures
-parking services was not aware of my event so guests were forced to pay $10 instead of the $5 I prepared them for
-menu options I initially wanted were not available
-set up was poorly thought through when recommendations were sent
I tried reaching out to discuss but was given the run around from management. Save yourself - have your event elsewhere.

I really don't know where to start with this place. I am looking for a place downtown to work out that is close to my office so I can go at lunch. I had been in their dining room on several occasions and it was OK - nothing special. They try and brand themselves as upscale and nobody likes to work out in a dump with poor maintenance issues. So I decide to try the place out.
I went over and met with Ashley and she showed me around the work out facilities, again - they were OK ,everything you need but nothing special. Then I went into the locker room, a lot of amenities, but it did not look like they had been updated or maintained since the 1980's. But I thought - maybe they just look worn and their service would be great - they do think of "themselves" as upscale.
So, Ashley sets me up with a trial for a week and the next day I go to check them out. Well, I get there and the lady at check in knows nothing about it - but she gets me in and gives me a key for a "guest locker", I think these are the same ones they RENT you for $2 a day if you don't pay $23/month for a full time locker. This "guest" locker is barely larger than a shoe box, you are supposed to either wad up your work clothes or hang them in a community closet(which was full) next to these little boxes. Well the key doesnt work in the box, so an attendant tries to get a different one but NONE of the little boxes work. I am pretty frustrated by now and go back to the main desk and ask if they have any other options although I think the place is a dump by now and not sure if I any more interest.
The manager (I am guessing) Michael comes out and makes some foolish suggestion about keeping my stuff in his office while I work out, then come out get them, etc. Sorry, but NO. Then he gives me attitude about my attitude and maybe this isn't the place for me. No kidding - genius, if this is the way they treat guests and potential customers I doubt it is going to get better once they sign you up and have your money. So, I am out the door.
Save yourself time and money - go someplace else if you are downtown. I know there is not a lot of choices - apparently they do too, but go ANYWHERE else but here.

Let's start with the positives: It has great views!
Despite the great views it was a disappointment for me for several reasons. The service was on the slow side. There weren't many people in the club when we (party of 3) arrived at 6:45pm but it took longer than normal between being seated, ordering our drinks and then ordering dinner. Not a huge negative but it could have been quicker.
After ordering our drinks, we were wondering if there were any "snacks" to munch on. The waitress didn't come back around for a while so I got up to ask the bartender. While walking up to the bar I noticed an hors d'oeuvres table tucked up against the wall next to the bar that no one told us about. By the time we noticed it, most of the food items had been picked over. They took it down right after we got a few left over items. It would have been nice if they wait staff would have pointed this out to us when we sat down.
The menu was limited to about 6 or 7 items on the "large meal" side and another 6 or 7 items on the "small meal" side. The food quality was just OK and portions were on the small side for the "large meal".
One person in my party ordered the steak and lobster special which came with a salad and desert. However the waitress forgot to offer the desert after our meal and brought us the check instead - thinking we were done. We did eventually get the desert but the portions were so tiny it was a bit embarrassing. Seriously, the key lime pie was maybe a 2 inch square!
For our pre-dinner drinks two of us ordered a Crown Royal Old Fashion that was listed on the menu for $9. When I got the bill these drinks were $11 each. I pointed this out to the waitress and she took care of the mistake but blamed it on the way these drinks were listed in the computer ordering system.
Don't think I'll be going back any time soon unless I want to take pictures of the Houston skyline at night.
