This studio is a special place. Regardless of where you are on your yoga journey, The Mat offers a welcoming, non-competitive community of teachers and students. The teachers are talented, kind, and supportive, and there is a nice variety of classes offered. They also offer Yoga Teacher Training.

I have called The Mat my Yoga Home, since it opened, both as a student, and a teacher. In every space, the studio has inhabited, the room doesn’t matter… It’s the community and caring of the staff, quality of the teachers, and the genuine regard for everyone who attends classes, workshops, and events that makes this place special. Every teacher is unique and has something different to offer. Anyone can find a class that suits them at the mat!

Always have a great Yoga Practice at The Mat. Sam talks you through the practice in a supportive and encouraging way. Never thought that I would be hooked on Yoga, but was I mistaken. Integral part of my fitness routine.

This is a great studio if you’re looking for something relaxed, quiet, and meditative. I felt welcomed right away each time I came in. The classes I’ve went to were uncompetitive and encouraged alterations and props to make the experience as accessible as possible.

I’ve found a lot of places are more about fitness than the actual spiritual and mental benefits of yoga so I was very excited to find this place was more about what feels good for your body that day at that time than getting a sweat sess in. I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if it’s yours I don’t think you’ll find a better studio in the area.

The open flow yoga class is perfectly paced and inviting. I took a class with Tracy and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t intimidating and was a mixture of men and women of all levels.

I had an absolutely amazing class. It was a sub and she did amazing. I was asking when can I come to one of her classes. She only subs at this studio and isn’t an actual regular teacher here. She gave me a list of amazing teachers at this studio, such a wonderful class and person. I will definitely return.

Was a member here for a little over a year. I’d go about once a week to a certain class that helped with my therapy and recovery.

Yoga, good.

As a straight white male, I found myself being condescended by the women here often. I was yelled at for what other men did and more than one occasion. I also had to deal with “no offense” as I walked out. Through the see of “empowered” women heaving verbal daggers at me… for being a man.

People, bigoted.

As a straight, white male… I don’t do yoga here anymore.

I have now been practicing at The Mat for 5 years. I have never done an activity for 5 years in my lift. The team at The Mat has created a community that keeps me coming back. The the options of in person, live virtual and video library provides me the with the flexibility to maintain a consistent practice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been practicing here for almost 4 years. I tried a lot of places before I found a community I really like. Lots of different class options throughout the week. Awesome teachers. And members have the option to attend in person, live sessions via Zoom or have access to the recordings of classes.

This studio is a very clean and peaceful place to practice yoga.
The studio has a nice big lounge and a retail shop, where I bought many cute little things, mat, blocks and sweaters.
They also offer various zoom classes 7 days/week.
If you Love yoga, this is a perfect Zen place for you.
Highly recommended.🧘🏽‍♀️

I bought the 3 weeks for $39 deal and have been loving it! Unfortunately, I don’t think I can afford to become a regular member, at $109 per month. No shade to the business! I’m just a college student lol. To anyone looking for other yoga studios, Summit Plano has great yoga classes as well and their membership is only $75 per month (plus unlimited rock climbing and bouldering) or $60 per month for students.

The facility is very nice and the instructors are very kind; to me, it’s just not worth the high cost when there are similar offerings for cheaper, especially with a student discount. 😄 Hope this helps!

I go to the Mat as often as possible. I’ve tried other studios and it’s just not the same. I feel safe there because the studio owner makes sure everything is clean. The doors are locked when class starts to protect my practice. It’s this hour long bubble of bliss - every day. If you can’t make it on time - don’t post one star because you missed out, that’s on you, not the studio.

Would give a zero star if I could. I was really, really looking forward to my first session. Today was very special for me, so I thought I would get a yoga session started at a new studio.

I drove half-hour on the toll way, got there, and found that the door was locked. At first I thought may be they were not there. So I called the owner and it turned out that they LOCK the door right when the session starts.

So if you are a few seconds late, not to mention a minute late, you are completely locked out. The only good thing is that the owner picked up phone. Then she spent the next 10 minutes trying to explain why locking people out and not forgiving people arriving even a few seconds late is a great business.

From their website, it seemed like they also have other very strict rules. Anyways, I l have been to so many studios before and this is the first one that locks people out and self-righteously justifies itself.

She also said that she sent out email reminding people at the beginning of the class about the rules, which I never received anything except for the confirmation msg below. I ended up spending more than an hour on nothing.

Thank you for ruining my day.

My name is Dean and I'm 51. I run a stressful business. In July a friend suggested I try The Mat and I took them up on it. It was a great decision. I had never done yoga before but now wish I had started much earlier in life. The health benefits are amazing, I can think clearer and the staff at The Mat feels like family. They really care and are passionate about what they do. You owe it to yourself to give it a try.

I've been practicing yoga for the past year and it's had a great impact on my mental and physical well being. I've been to 3 sessions at The Mat Yoga so far and it's been awesome. I was two minutes late, and they won’t let me in. Rushed for an hour in the traffic after work then have to go home directly. I need to forget about this place, too far from work, the class time starts at 6:30pm, and I am off work at 5:30, can hardly make it after work and moreover, the it is not hot yoga here. Comparing to this, I think Samatone yoga in addition is much better.

I was so excited to learn The Mat was opening a yoga studio in Plano. Since opening, the community in this studio is quickly building. The space is beautiful; the teachers are some of the very best in town; there is a great variety of class types and times; and the community of students is so welcoming.

I absolutely love practicing yoga at The Mat. The community of this studio is so welcoming. From the moment I walk in each time I feel right at home.

I've taken classes from almost all of the instructors here and I can definitely say that they are all very knowledgeable. I love how there a diverse range of teaching styles at this studio. The Mat also offers a variety of classes and levels of classes which is wonderful to explore.

There are some days after a long day of work that I feel like I have no energy to do anything, but I push myself to make it to class because I know by the end of class I'll feel great about myself and I'll feel more energized.

One of the many things I love about practicing at this studio are the instructors! The instructors encourage their students to go with what works for your own body and to go at your own pace... "Mind your own mat" or "Be the captain of your own ship". They are also great about showing or verbalizing ways you can make your practice more challenging or ways to modify your practice.

Practicing yoga at The Mat is not only a part of my weekly routine, it's also what I look forward to attending to each day. I can't imagine a better place to practice yoga. Thank you, Samantha and all of the other yoga instructors for creating such an incredible studio.

Got the Groupon for this place. Most all the teachers here are AMAZING. They are super welcoming and warm hearted. Chantal and Alex are the best.
You have to take a class with them. You are missing out if you don't.

This place is great for beginners and people who are more versed in yoga. I'm glad I found this place.
I am trying all the local yoga places around me first, and then I will decide one studio and stay with it. So far, this is my favorite place.

If you're on the line about what studio to try, I highly recommend this place. You will thank yourself.

I am new to yoga...My daughter talked me into trying it with her. They treated us with kindness and love as if they had known us forever. Being a newbie, I honestly have no idea what I was doing. :) I have not felt awkward in class one time. They are great at making sure that you are doing the poses correctly so that you don't get hurt without embarrassing you.

The studio has created a family feel. I absolutely love it and it is a great escape from stress. Highly recommend the Mat Yoga Studio.

My daughter (who is college age) loves it too! There is something for everyone!
