I was just at The Village Fitness Center as a guest. I asked to speak to the manager as an outside vendor. In turn, i spoke with this rude, Gen Z front desk girl. As a visitor and a potential business affiliate, she could have cared less that I was there. Also, I asked to use their restroom and she would not allow me to use it. I ended up using the restroom at Hous of Wigs, a high end lace hair salon. Aliya was so nice. She helped me while helping a customer. If you are in need of good custom lace hair, please contact them.

Update: parking no longer gated โ
old review: Parking garage gate is terrible, it doesn't work when it rains. We end up being stuck for 20 minutes.
Circling back on this, the gate still doesn't work properly when it rains, and there is no other way to exit.

I think this gym is the best example of wasting resources.
There is a lot of space dedicated to this gym, but only a small fraction of it is allocated to free weight area. Also, what is the logic behind putting a number of leg machines such as calf machine in the free weight area and the rest of leg machines on the second floor?
All in all, I think a thorough reconsideration is needed even regarding purchasing new machines.

Posting one star for maintenance and safety of equipment. It is a regular occurrence that multiple treadmills have one or both of their two switches ripped off, causing malfunction.
I have had multiple occurrences because of this of them rapidly speeding up without prompting and nearly throw me off or cause injury as a result. Each time in the past I have notified staff however, I do not see them mark the machines out of use.
Today was the final straw of this when my treadmill jumped from 4 to 8 mph. I went and informed staff then watched them allow a woman to use that same treadmill, the staff member informing me they'll wait and see because she wanted to use it. Please prioritize safety and maintenance

Very clean and modern but need more space for free weights, especially for an apartment community of this size. I like that they incorporate outdoor spaces but when it's over 90 outside, the indoor space tends to fill up quickly. They honestly could use another floor ๐ Also wish their water fountains would provide cold water. Kinda gross to drink warm water after a workout ya know?

Very nice gym. The individuals working out here are not versed in the least in gym etiquette, of course most look as though they have never worked out before so I cannot blame them. This seems to be the preferred place in the Village to stare at your cellphone. The staff are all very friendly. They offer a lot of different things to suit your own fitness needs. I would certainly appreciate more 45lb plates, another full line of pin-select machines, some 29mm (or even 29.5mm if you can find them) bars for your squats, deadlifts and benchpress.

For the thousands of village residents this gym is intended to support, the lack of space and available equipment is shocking. Itโs a modern and nice facility that looks good in photos, but itโs just not practical whatsoever. It takes less than 10 people to make the weight area completely full. I keep trying to use this gym (that we pay for) but I will continue to pay for another gym membership elsewhere due to the lack of space and equipment available.
I unfortunately donโt expect the village to take these reviews seriously based on the sarcastic responses to other low star reviews.

Just a couple of comments about the Village Fit. It's a beautiful facility although need more equipment for the serious "work out" people. Check other comments as they are very specific in their needs-more weights, squat racks in front of mirrors, more room either by longer hours or build out to accommodate. Take a poll and ask the members of the Village Fit what they would like to see in their gym. There are offices up front which are empty most of the time when I'm there. More room for work out space and less for office space. Also there's only one room with a nice wooden floor and mirrors downstairs. This room is always booked with classes in the evenings and sometimes the class may only have one person in it. We need time allotments for dance / practicing on the wood floors with music and allowed to close the door and use music to dance. There are many ways to care for our body and keep in mind dancing is a great way to exercise, work on flexibility, relieve stress and move the body. We just need open times slots to use the room without interference with classes every hour in the evening. Also when we are doing choreographing, we need to play the music on the speakers in the room or be allowed to bring our "jam box" to work on our routine. Also why not consider dance classes to include in the schedule? Country two step, ballroom or west coast swing? It would be fun and this style of dance is so popular in Texas!

Overall pretty good. Couple simple ways they could improve. For the amount of people that use this gym they definitely need more space for free weights. They certainly need atleast one more indoor squat rack. At a minimum the squat racks they have NEED to be in front of mirrors. Not the benches. Also an additional pulley machine would be great as thereโs always a wait for these and one has been broken for months.

Did ya'll really need to have security come in and run everyone out of the VFit when it was actually 10 minutes still until closing? Ya'll need to put the VFit hours to 24/7. I'd say a good portion of residents don't work 9-5.

Later hours. Doesnโt have to be 24 hours but even to be open till 2 am would be Amazing. I had to get a planet fitness membership ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ because I get home from around the time they close.

Very nice facility and helpful and affable front desk staff.
However as many others have stated, there is abysmally, almost suspiciously limited allocation for weight machines. Given how large the Village community is, the fitness center, while providing adequate cardio space, has just a handful of machines for body/weight work and these are always busy even during the non peak hours. Seeing that the reviews and complaints have been going on for almost an year now, this is strange and could perhaps be by design. Like most other people, I have bought a membership to a gym outside (LA fitness).

Nice new facility with an upscale atmosphere. Cardio options are great, but unfortunately the weight room is not large enough to meet demand. Much of the space in the facility was given to miscellaneous classrooms, etc., but a large majority of the people who come here are looking to lift weights. This results in a huge concentration of people in the weight area. Please consider expanding the weight room. Itโs hard to believe this much time was spent building a gym and the weight room ended up being this small.
Edit: Instead of posting snarky responses to the other low-star reviews also pointing out how tiny the weight room is, how about doing something about it?

Love that i have this fitness center to use almost whenever. Only wish it were able to be staffed 24/7 instead of closing overnights. There are a bunch of villagers who work weird hours and end up having to pay extra for a gym membership just to be able to workout around their schedule. This isn't really an amenity that I get to use anymore which sucks big time. Please look into being open 24/7. It will also help with not being as crowded during peak times.

I started working out again for my health and also wanting to drop some weight. The staff here is friendly and they try to accommodate. I highly recommend a visit here.

Cardio area is way larger than it needs to be and goes underutilized, while the weight section is small and always crowded even at "slow" times during the day. Many days you'll never get access to what you need if you're doing strength or bodybuilding training.
EDIT: Owner left this response: "It's funny, the cardio users always want more cardio and the weight room users always want more weights. Surely between 3 outdoor work out turfs, two indoor studios, multitude of equipment, weights, stationary equipment, benches and grit equipment, indoor studios, indoor track and basketball court within 30,000 sq feet - someone can get a decent work out in?"
My response: Just search "cardio" in the Google reviews. Every single one complains of the exact same thing that I did. Nobody that I see has complained about wanting more cardio. Maybe instead of getting defensive, you guys could pay attention to the same repeating message: more strength/bodybuilding options. You only have two flat benches for BP in this entire 30K sq ft. Pay attention, take action if you actually cared. But the decision makers don't care, that's why this never gets fixed. That's why I've now purchased a different gym membership, instead of taking advantage of this free gym as a resident. That should say something.

Short review: The Village Fit was one of the best aspects of the redevelopment process. It is an upgrade over the pre-renovation main fitness center. However, it didn't address most of the problems with the pre-renovation gym or the interim gym while renovation was ongoing. Details below...
The Village Fit is much more spacious than the two previous main fitness centers. That's a positive. The biggest positive out of The Village Fit is the inclusion of indoor fitness class space. Prior to the renovation, all fitness classes were outdoors, which was quite uncomfortable in the summer months with the Dallas heat. I avoided the outdoor fitness classes for the most part during this time. The interim fitness center had a studio space, which was a move in the right direction. The indoor class spaces addressed a real missing element in the past. The outdoor fitness lawns can be useful 8 months out of the year.
As many others have pointed out, The Village Fit has a space allocation issue. The weightlifting area is cramped and crowded, just like it was in previous iterations. Meanwhile, the cardio equipment area tends to be spacious.
There's an indoor basketball/volleyball court with The Village Fit but one basketball/volleyball court does not make up for the loss of 12 tennis courts.

I like this gym but im considering getting a gym membership somewhere else due to the fast that I live at the village and got my rent raised and I feel the gym space isn't really used well. The gym is very good, has everything you may need but the pool is quite poor.
The olympic swimming pool is outdoors as if it's Miami. Practically unusable in winter and I have to get a gym membership to swim my laps, defeating the purpose of having this gym and pool as an amenity.
On top of that people put their kids into the lap pool to float around and there is no associate to ask them to go to the kiddie pool instead. Very hard to swim even when it's swimmable. Please do something about it.

They brag about the square footage online then shove all the weight equipment into an area slightly bigger than their studio apartments. They replied to reviews previously about reanalyzing, they didn't and won't, they get money from rent, not from memberships. 8 people is how many it takes to feel quite crowded. Thousands live at the village. You'd think with the village studio apartments with no microwave, washer dryer, etc. being around 1200 a month today you'd get a weight room that doesn't feel crowded during traditionally dead gym hours. Front desk staff is nice and cardio area is big though. Planet fitness and LA fitness is close by if it's too crowded

No leg press machines at the new location (although they do have one for hack squats), and the indoor track is tiny. However, the facility is huge, they have indoor and outdoor spaces for workouts, plenty of options, friendly staff, group classes, and more. Best apartment gym I've had.
Source: Google

This facility is massive, but the weight room could fit in a 2-bedroom apartment. There are two benches. If you want to get a full workout in, expect to be there for 2+ hours while you wait for free weights to be available, at any time of day. The solution was to take weights outside, which doesn't help when there aren't any available. I don't know why they shoved the free weight area into a small corner of the facility and left so much empty room in the cardio equipment areas that are only ever half utilized. The main problem is that the fitness center is open to all residents of every property vs. most apartments having their own gym (albeit smaller). So the population to equipment is way off.
TLDR: Invest in more free weights, more people use them vs. cardio equipment.

The village fit through photos and appearances, no doubt, is a 4 or 5 star gym. There are however multiple issues that cause it to be 2 stars.
The weight room is incredibly cramped and unimpressive. Compared to the previous village fit, it is comparable in size (with maybe a few less pieces of equipment). This is amusing, because the new village fit must be 6-7 times the size. The old village fit also never seemed quite as busy.
The cardio space, however, is 7-8x the size with much more equipment, when in fact less people when I go use this equipment. You can tell they placed the cardio equipment where they did for the photos. (Gyms like having treadmills in front of windows).
Whoever was the project manager failed to realize that gyms like this are "free" to residents. I use that term loosely because they charge more on rent. The thing about "free" things is more people use them. I've gone at multiple times during the day, 5 am, lunch break hours, 2-3 pm, 5-6 pm, and right around closing at 8-9 pm. The weight room almost always feels cramped, even when it might not be! If you go at 5 am it's empty, but then by 5:15-5:20 it's booming. The day doesn't matter (except on Mondays, because that's national go to the gym and lift weights day). I've even tried to go off of "popular times" on Google, but even when it says it's not that busy - all the people that are there just seem to go to the weight room.
They made an attempt to expand this, no doubt after complaints, but it's all outside and it's not much unless you like to squat, and take all your weights and the bar outside.
I'm hoping Covid is the cause of the tremendous price increases and not amenities like this gym.
I have a feeling they may be trying to increase more space, but I think this is years away. I've kept an eye on their construction practices, and it's pretty slow. I think there was a hole or some issue in the basketball court, It wasn't until a month or two later they boarded it up with wood.
People I've talked to are unhappy with the size, but go because it's free, and "supplement" with other gym memberships. I feel like people supplementing alone shows failure on the village's part for a great gym.
I think people in project management programs at universities could actually use The Village Fit as a great example of going for appearance instead of practicality. That being said, the staff is very friendly. The negative review isn't personal, it's just pointing out the failures of whoever was in charge of building this place. They should consider expanding hours to ease busy hours in the weight room and wheeling out old equipment into a new make-shift space. I know for a fact there was more equipment because I saw it at the old location
TL:DR
Gym is pretty for photos, but falls short in the weight room due to it being free and due to a confined space with pitiable amounts of equipment for the amount of residents at the Village properties

I truly donโt understand how they can have so much excess equipment for certain stuff that never gets used whenever Iโm there yet if something in a different department breaks like the martial art stuff itโs down it is frankly down way too long when it could be put back up in less than 90 minutes and then just streets up does not have equipment for certain activities preferred the old facility by leaps and bounds and they were ran by the same people So I know they can do it and run it well
Edit and response for mma unless i am missing something is 1 punching bag that is by far not a good bag the metal behind really hinders the use of it and 1 speed bag considering the other has been down well over a month id be more than happy to meet and discuss some additions that could be done with minimal accommodations

They make you pay for the gym, but the don't make it inclusive for everyone. All they have have for people who may enjoy kickboxing, wrestling, and clinch work is one cheap bag. The bag is hanging next to weigh equipment which makes half of the area around the bag unusable. It is also on a very hard service. They don't even have a mat under the bag so that if you want to do jab sprawls or shots, you're going to be landing on basically concrete. I just don't see why they make everyone pay for it if it doesn't have stuff for everyone. Not everyone wants to play basketball or ride on a fake bike to get their cardio.

Great place to go for a workout. I live at the Village and go whenever there's time for me to go. I always get a very nice welcome bye the staff and feel right at home. It is small but there's always room to do exercise. I've been at peak and low traffic hours and there's always a spot for me to do my workout. Machines and restrooms and floors are always clean. There's a yoga room where they also teach several other classes (weekdays and mornings). Ot opens at 5 am and closes at 10 on weekdays and from 7 to 7 on Saturday/Sunday. So, there's always time to go and blow some steam. If you live at the village or are considering to move, give it a look. You'll love it. ๐๐ป

This is my backup Jim. I love the hours and it's small but they have good equipment. You can't go in the gym unless you're part of the village
