It’s hard to write a review about Nathan without sounding too internet “salesy.” The best I can say is that if you listen and push yourself, Nathan will get you better. I trust what he’s saying. I’m seeing results. I’m having fun playing again.

The time slot he books really helps give you enough to tinker with supervision. Somehow Nathan has the patience of a saint to work through that rough attempts of you trying something new. It also really helps that he tries to use the most simple/straightforward/natural approach possible.

I’m not watching YouTube videos to figure out what he’s saying - release, club at this position, blah blah.

I’m a 49 year old disabled veteran and heard about Tin Can Golf Instruction from another vet with Nathan as their instructor. First he is a Top Tier instructor!!!

I began on August 3, 2022 with Nathan and as of today November 20, 2024 my handicap has dropped as follows:

18Birdies 21.2 -> 8.6
GHIN: 21.2 -> 8.0
VGA: 26 -> 10.8

The psychology of the game is one focus that Nathan addresses in order to make each phase of your swing and mechanics feel natural but also logical.

His instruction is completely different for each student and he uses your own natural ability to determine how to physically get you in position to make pure/solid strikes on the ball.

He has the electronic setup to monitor your swing as well as the purity of your contact made onto the ball. You’ll get to obtain your Smash factor, ball speed and swing speed, determine if you hit a fade/cut/slice or draw/hook/pull as well carry and distance on each shot.

The visual aids help you with alignment, posture, and targeting. The chipping, swinging, and putting surfaces are very all life-like and give you a REAL feel as you work on your stroke.

With the two hours of instruction per lesson, you really feel like you’re getting the most for your money and getting the necessary repetition required to get a good feel for each stroke with each club. His real-time analysis of your swing helps you really see your body and positioning which helps in seeing your flaws.

Highly highly recommend. I am a scratch golfer and struggled to find an instructor that could go highly technical on big swing changes I wanted to make. Nathan has a wealth of knowledge and does an incredible job of both being detailed, but also very understandable.
He incorporates video into every lesson, and because it is 2 hours, you actually have time to work on things. With other 1 hour lessons, I always felt like you did not have enough time to actually improve during the lesson.
Cannot recommend enough. I have also done a dual lesson with my wife (a beginner), and Nathan has also been her favorite instructor.

Brand new golfer here. I've read some articles where people say there is no point in getting an instructor when your just starting out, but after 1 session with Nathan, I feel like that is totally wrong, and I could not be more pleased.

I received a set of starter clubs as a gift for my birthday, and after 1 day on a range it was clear I had no idea what I was doing. I hacked away at 2 buckets of balls, and made minor improvements (well made decent contact more often), but I had no idea what the difference was between the few shots I hit well, and all the rest.

Nathan was extremely patient and supportive throughout the whole learning process, and was never negatively judgemental toward any of questions that I had. I was concerned asking a golfer of his caliber to break down the simplest things for me, but he was more than happy to answer all of my questions, and did so in a very professional manner.

After just one session I feel like I have a much better understanding of the fundamentals, and what I actually need to be mindful of and practicing at the range to improve. I would definitely recommend his services, and will be returning for future lessons.

I have been working with Nathan for about three years. He has helped my game in all areas. Full swing, short game and mental approach. He is a great communicator. Never asks you to do or try anything without explaining why and how it might help your game. I have taken lessons, observed other teachers and read just about everything there is to read on golf, and I highly recommend Nathan as an instructor no matter what your skill level. I’ve been playing golf for almost 20 years and never had a lesson. I finally got tired of the inconsistency of catching the ball fat or hitting it thin and decided to break down and get some lessons. Meeting Nathan has definitely been a game changer. I’ve only had 5 lessons so far but he has greatly increased my ball striking abilities and helped me understand my swing much better. If you want to improve your game, go see Nathan Tyler at Tin Can Golf! My son who is a Sophomore and on his High School golf team has been taking lessons from Nate for over 3 years. (About every 3 months) His game and swing have improved tremendously! Last year his best score in a school tournament was 99. This year his best was a 77. We attribute his improvement to the superb instruction he receives. Every time he leaves a session with Nate he's pumped about his swing and excited to get out on the course! Coach Nathan has been working with my son for over 3 years. My son is 14 now and shown tremendous progress under Coach Nate’s instructions/direction. My son has gone from not hitting the ball, to progressively getting better after each lesson, winning tournaments, and making his high school golf team. Coach Nate is a true professional and can see all aspects of the golf swing at a very quick glance. There are a lot of golf instructors that will give you what I call “Lip Service” or very bad tips, or advice, Coach Nate is not that guy, you will get top tier instructions that will strengthen your game the proper way, and lower your scores.

Within the Mesquite, Garland, Sunnyvale, Rockwall, and Forney area is probably the best golf instructor in the area, with the credentials to back it up.
