Unbelievable place. You can tell the owner Travis really cares about the people and cultivates a healthy mindset. The people are very welcoming. The workouts are very challenging. I have experience working with great trainers and gyms and group fitness. As far as group fitness, there is nothing BETTER than this place. I wish I had joined earlier.

I first became part of this community back in 2010, when Travis was leading classes at RedBlack Gym through Crossfit Central. When he launched Travis County Strength in 2013, I followed—and I’ve been a loyal member ever since.
The programming and coaching here are truly exceptional. Classes are intentionally kept small, which means you get personalized attention when you need it. I’ve tried countless gyms and personal trainers over the years, but nothing compares to the quality and care at TCS. The coaches are deeply committed to proper form and tailor movements to meet you where you are—whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned athlete.
As someone who’s had a love/hate relationship with working out, I need a space that keeps me accountable and consistent. TCS does exactly that. The community is warm, supportive, and genuinely uplifting. It’s the only gym where I feel I’m consistently getting the most out of every workout.
If you’re searching for a place to train, I can’t recommend Travis County Strength enough. Try a class—you’ll see what makes it special.

I’ve been to so many gyms in so many countries and cities, and let me tell you, this gym is amazing!!!
Travis, the owner, always welcomes you and makes you feel like TCS is your second home. The classes are incredible. You just show up and give whatever effort you have that day. You don’t have to think about anything else. The training cycles are well planned and the workouts are even better.
My body has changed so much since coming here. The coaches, including Travis, always help you get better with proper technique. It doesn’t matter if you’re their friend, the strongest, or the fastest. They treat everyone the same, which is something many gyms don’t do.
TCS is a place where you don’t have to be the best or the worst. You come in, do what you can, and everyone supports you. It’s a wonderful community. Come work out with us. You’ll love it.

Great workouts and vibe! I was in town for ACL and purchased a week pass. Went Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. All different and intense workouts! Instructors were friendly and helpful. Everyone made me feel welcome. Highly recommended. Will be back on my next trip to Austin!

Before starting at TCS I had zero barbell experience. The coaches and community enthusiastically embrace rookies and give positive and constructive feedback to help you learn and gain confidence with each part of these workouts. It’s always fun even if it’s challenging, but your only competition is yourself ! Kudos to Travis and team for running an awesome gym where all are welcome.

I was in town for the month and decided to sign up for a few classes. The instructors are exciting, friendly and knowledgeable. What sets this gym apart from most is how engaging and helpful everyone is. I mean, I had total strangers helping me put away my equipment at 0630 in the morning.. This might be a Texas thing but the leadership here definitely has a role. Travis County Strength helped me enjoy working out again. You guys have a fan hailing from Miami! 💪💪💪

This review is actually about what happened after my membership!
Firstly, I had an amazing experience at the gym itself. Travis and the other instructors were super attentive on form, and really educated their members on lifting heavy in a responsible way. The workouts are challenging, but scalable to to everyone from beginner to veteran lifters. It's a fine line getting someone to push their limits without injury, and TCS does that super well.
I want to give a huge shoutout though to Travis for how the gym treated its old members even after the membership had ended (I also only was able to attend TCS for 4 months total). 6 months after I stopped attending TCS I noticed that there had been monthly membership withdrawals from TCS. I searched my emails, and could not find any evidence of having ended my membership. In my move to different cities it had slipped through the cracks. I reached out to Travis, and we worked through what must have happened- He was always super polite and helpful. At the end, even though he had absolutely no obligation to do so, he provided me a refund for the months I'd been missing.
Long story short, TCS treats its members incredibly well and the good vibes that flow through that gym are genuine. Met some great people there while getting strong!

I started going to TCS during the pandemic in fall of last year (2020), and it really helped my mental health. I did yoga for a couple of years before starting strength training, and I was unsure whether I'd like lifting. At the beginning, I could barely lift the 35lb. barbell when I started, but progress came quickly (and is still happening) with the help of great coaches.
All in all, highly recommend this gym. The atmosphere is positive and inclusive, the members are kind, and the coaches are encouraging (Travis, Jen, and Sean are all great). If you stick with it, you'll see results! (My spouse convinced me to go, and now we work out together :D)
Oh, and as a huge added plus--lots of strong, great women frequent this gym! And it's so encouraging to see and be reminded that lifting isn't just a "guy thing."

I joined TCS about 3 weeks ago and I must say I am HOOKED. The workouts are intense and with a small group of 11 people. The coaches will correct your form if you are doing a movement incorrectly and help push you to your limits. I would recommend this facility to anyone and have transitioned from a trial membership to their unlimited plan

This Gym is Amazing. They are taking covid super serious. Everyone is put into there own squares super far apart. Also, it is practically outside. After each set of workouts, we clean the equipment down. Travis is the best. He welcomed me by name right when I got there. I haven't worked out in years. I am way out of shape. He helped me the entire time and modified all of the workouts for me. If you are thinking about getting back in shape, this is the place. They have an intro class for only $15. If you want to try it out for a month unlimited classes it's a steal at $79. There also is the option to purchase 4 or 8 class passes on their website. This is extremely competitive pricing compared to similar gyms. Everyone there was super nice.
The workouts are extremely doable. Please do not be intimidated if you haven't been to the gym in a while. Travis caters to your current fitness level and is excellent at helping you work on your form.
They also offer streaming workouts, you can do at home. I heard they are super fun and totally worth it.

hell of a gym- came in with lots of injuries and in the worst shape of my life and TCS took care to make sure I didnt aggravate my injuries while helping me get back in shape. Ive been through lots of trainers in my life but sean is hands down the best one ive ever had; kind, patient, and fully explains each movement with a lot of emphasis on technique. even went out of his way to look at my diet and provide me with a meal plan to help me reach my goals- went above and beyond with everything. jen and travis write up some amazing workouts and are super nice people. gym is super clean and classes are small so no corona fears.

I'd give 6 stars if I could! I live way too far south to make it there regularly, but each and every time I can make it Travis and the crew are always super welcoming and genuinely glad to have you!
Travis writes workout plans that are works of art! Seriously, they are beautiful! Solid warm ups, creative & accessible workouts, and he does a great job explaining each part, while supporting you during the workout.

Went here for the first time recently, and loved it. Travis is a down to Earth, caring, professional and attentive coach. He knows what he's doing, and how to get the most out of each workout. Most importantly, he's safe, and cares about making sure that he assigns you the right workout for whatever level you're at, and will constantly check on you to not only make sure that you're doing the exercises, but doing them properly. A great workout facility with that old school feel, and look to it. Y won't leave disappointed, but you'll leave sweaty, exhausted and thanking yourself later that you came in for a great workout.

I’ve been coming here for 4 years. In that time I’ve added 100+ to my squat and deadlift and completed a handful of marathons/ultras mostly on the strength of TCS workouts.
The coaches are the best out there. Perfect combination of demanding, supportive and instructive. The programming is fun (brutal, but fun) and it works. Barbell work, kettlebells and a full array of strongman implements are used. There is nothing to be intimidated by, the coaches will breakdown tools and techniques so even the unititiated will have no problem with them. TCS is perfect for everyone from hardened meatheads to folks completely new to working out.
Beyond the fitness, the community at TCS is awesome. Jen and Travis have attracted a group of incredible people to the gym from all walks of life and all abilities. It’s always a pleasure to be around the folks there and something I look forward to every week.

I've been training with Jen in her women's-only LIFT program for eight years now and I can't imagine her workouts not being a part of my life. Programming-wise she's the best. Her workouts are always personalized, strategic, and the right kind of punishing. Every time I leave the gym I feel more comfortable in my own skin. More impressive than the work itself though is the community Jen has built around her. Smart, interesting, grounded, unjudgmental women who are as excited to sweat alongside a former college athlete as they are the 50-year-old woman who's never lifted a weight in her life but wants to start taking better care of her body. I trust the women who go here as much as I do the woman who gathered them.

Excellent gym. Dropped in for two Strictly Strength classes while I was traveling through Austin. The community was awesome. I felt immediately at home and Travis kept an eye on me through the workouts, making sure my form was correct. Great gym if you want to improve your ability to pick stuff up and put it down. Would be my gym if I lived in Austin, hands down.

This place is the best! I came in just to try out a few classes but soon got hooked to the energy in the gym and quality of the workouts. The coaches know what they're doing and can scale a workout to any level. The clientele is so supportive and friendly they can make a 5:30 am class the best part of your day. After years of plateauing in a typical fitness gym, I switched to TCS and quickly saw results. In only one year, I added 15 lbs of muscle and somehow still got faster. This place is definitely worth every penny.

If you are ready to work and get fit, sign up. TCS has been amazing- they watch your form like a hawk to make sure that every movement is quality and safe. The camaraderie of working out with your team is so much fun! I have been doing the 5:30AM LIFT all women's class for several years, and it has kept me in the mental and physical shape I need to be in to enjoy life. The programming is incredible.

I've been at this gym since it opened.
I'll start by addressing two concerns you might have when looking into joining this gym.
1. The space looks fairly small. Don't let that discourage you because classes are capped and they use the space well. I've never felt like I don't have enough room.
2. It seems like one of the pricier gyms in Austin. However, it really isn't. Classes are fairly small so it's almost like getting a small group PT session. The coaches work with you one on one anytime you need help during class. The amount of money you pay for classes/memberships is worth every dollar.
Some things I love about this gym:
1. Great coaches who know exactly what they are doing.
2. Great programming.
3. Supportive community.
4. Functional workouts.
5. There are no complicated machines that you have to use-it's mostly body weight, barbell or strongman exercises.
Really just a great place to get fit and meet a like-minded community of amazing people.

I finally found my people! My last gym had gone through a lot of changes, and it wasn't fitting my needs any longer...the personal feeling was no longer there and the workouts were not as challenging.
I was starting to put feelers out for a new gym, and decided to see what TCS was all about. I attended a workout as a guest of a good friend who has been a member of TCS since it started - and the rest is history. I was thoroughly impressed - and decided to join right away.
Since I have joined, I have PR'd in almost every area - and I've never felt stronger and healthier. Not only that, I've made new friends, and feel part of this great community.
What I love about the gym:
Smaller classes than most gyms
Full hour workout, usually with extra credit at end if you want to challenge yourself even more
Inspiring coaches who will push you just enough
Tailored workouts (if needed) - if you cannot do all of the movements, they are easily modified
Welcoming members - I have never felt left out - very friendly, and everyone pushes each other and cheers each other on
Easy scheduling on app
Lots of extra targeted opportunities - nutrition classes, speed work, strong man, barbell, etc.
It's dog-friendly!
Every workout is different - which keeps things interesting and exciting
The coaches really take the time to do their homework to come up with strategic workouts to achieve various training targets/goals
Periodic social events outside of the gym
I highly recommend TCS - and I'm so glad I became a member! The coaches really care about their members and community - and it shows!

All of the coaches are extremely knowledgeable, and no workout is ever the same. I have seen more change in my body internally and externally than any other workout (yoga, spin, running, climbing etc.) I primarily go to LIFT, the all ladies class, but have also started going to conditioning with Travis and SS with Mari and you can't go wrong with any class. Also one of the most accepting groups of people in the workout community.

This place is my zen. Every time I have to do something hard in my regular life, and it was easier than I thought it would be, I know it's because of the hard work I put in at Travis County Strength. Lifting heavy awkward things has made me physically stronger, and Travis's "comfortable being uncomfortable" attitude has made me mentally stronger.

TCS is my happy place. The coaches are top-notch and truly invested in seeing every member reach their goals. The workouts are very challenging but also very doable (simple, but not easy!). I am quite certain I never would have tried out any of the strongman training tools on my own, but I've honestly grown to love them because I can feel them translate into real life strength. I've noticed a difference in my body composition, overall strength, and speed in the past few years of training at TCS. What sets this gym apart from others though, is the community. Everyone is genuinely welcoming and supportive. I always look forward to my TCS classes because I know I will leave feeling like I just did something really good for myself.

The best, I have been a couch potato for about 15 years and on top of that I had shoulder surgery about 2 years ago, very reluctantly I went to Travis County Strenght at the request from my son but I did not want to sign because unfortunately I'm very overweight and weak but my persistent son got me to sign up.
I can't believe how great Travis (trainer) has helped me, I joined about 3 months and he has worked so hard to motivate me and help me with the workouts to make them in ways that I can handle and jet have a super workout.
I can tell you that this has been a life changing experience for the better, I'm no longer going back to 24 hour fitness - THE MOTHER OF ALL PROCLASTINATION.
Thank you Travis, your help has made me a better person for helping me improved my quality of life big time. I never review but your service is so great, many would benefit from your knowledge, discipline no to mention all the cool people that train there, I could go on but maybe you can check it out yourself.

TCS helped me get over a pretty negative and competitive mindset that I had about working out. The women I workout with at LIFT, and the coaches, all push and challenge me, but also support me and make the workouts punishing but so rewarding. I have gotten stronger by working out there, and it's something I enjoy! The coaches work hard to make every workout different and interesting, while still keeping them within a framework that builds on itself. TCS is great. Joining up was the best thing I've ever done for myself. It doesn't matter if you have zero athletic background or you are a former college athlete, Travis, Jen, Nikki, Mary and Nick will take good care of you. Awesome, unpretentious, ridiculously strong people. Nobody cares what you're wearing and everyone's there to do hard work. There's a huge variety of equipment and training styles, so you get to learn and do a little bit of everything. My friends are jealous of the stuff I get to do at the gym. Best workout in Austin by far.
