The gyms management is terrible, all come off to be nice and accommodating but once you go to cancel your membership it seems no one knows what’s going on. We are on month 4 of supposedly having a canceled membership and almost 1200 dollars has been charged to my bank account. Well here we go again and the machine are still broken and have not been fixed in several weeks. This will be a huge liability in the near future. 82nd please fix your machines I almost fell off of a bench since the bench has been broken for over 9 months. I told a personal trainer but I guess they ignored him too. This is about to be a huge liability. And please please change the batteries to the concept 2 rowers, none of the work! If there at the gym they should be working properly! The machines have been broken for several months! Do yall need more maintenance workers? I’m sure there are people that work out there willing to fix them for y’all. Well here we go again 9-26-24 I noticed several machines have been broken for several months now! OK here we go again it’s 7-22-2025, the cable machine cables are so thin that that they seem they will bust any time you’re almost afraid to put any weight on it most cable machines are not working properly! I know a guy that fixes these machines before they injure someone! Ok here we go again 11-18-2025, I got on two machines today and guess what, broken. These machines have been around since the gym was Bodyworks it’s time to upgrade hopefully!!! Stop recycling the Machines!!!! Please!!!!!

Ok if I'm being completely honest.. No deltoid machine but getting another hip thrust is just sad to see. And the vast majority of the staff is very nice and cooperative, but there's always that one employee who just seems to be trying to ruin my workout. Also, some of the equipment is out of order for quite some time, I fixed like 3 machines yesterday (makes like 20 now) that were from people slamming the weight back down and getting the cable off track, or just not paying attention, and were easy fixes that the staff could've done. But hey the sauna is consistently 190-200°F

Don't agree to month to month with these people. We been trying to shut it down for months just to get nowhere. Ontop of this they charged me 3 times in the first week of May. Facility is ok i just don't have time to go. Been about 4 months emails and visit they keep charging me. This is criminal. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TRUFIT TRAINING SESSIONS. I quit doing them back in May, after my trainer and I put in a notice the month before like they require. Since then, they have taken an extra $700 out of my account, and I have not been refunded the money. I put in a notice about this a month and a half ago. I have tried to contact management numerous times about the issue, and nothing has been done. They have avoided almost all of my and my husband’s phone calls and emails. The lack of professionalism is absolutely astounding. Complete robbery.
Before this happened, I had no problems with the gym. The front desk people are nice, and the equipment is great; I am just appalled at how this issue is not being dealt with. Looks like from the other Google reviews, I’m not the only one who has dealt with something like this with them. TRU-ly disappointing.

I've been a member since November of '24 and primarily use the 82nd Street location. The remodels in all three locations really made a difference, especially at the 82nd Street location removing the rubber band trampolines and the climbing wall, and expanding the free weight area. I've been telling staff since December or January '25 that there are loose dumbbells and loose preloaded barbells and management/maintenance has done nothing in over 8 months. Someone is going to get hurt when one of the ends falls off. Maybe this will get someone's attention before that happens.

Update 9/30.... Same dumbbells and preloaded barbells still loose. I failed to mention in the first review that knobs on the adjustable benches are missing too, just nubs of thread sticking out. Another failure of management to monitor equipment.

I’ve been a member at Tru-Fit for over 6 months now. My spouse and I both pay for the top package and regularly go to the 34th & 82nd location. I’ve scanned in countless times without ever being told I needed a picture on my account.

This morning, however, when I scanned in at the 34th location, I was stopped by Jonah at the front desk. Instead of politely explaining that I needed a picture, he immediately raised his voice at me saying, “You can’t work out unless you come take a picture.” I showed him that my app already has a picture on file, but he dismissed that.

What shocked me most is when Jonah threatened to call the police on me simply for not stopping to take a picture—even though I am a paying member. That’s completely unnecessary and unprofessional. If having a picture is such a big requirement, why wasn’t it handled when we first signed up? And why has nobody mentioned it in the 6+ months I’ve been coming here?

I go to the gym early in the morning for a reason—to get my workout in before my day starts. Instead, my time was wasted, I was embarrassed in front of others, and even police officers had their time wasted over something that could’ve been solved respectfully and professionally.

A better approach would’ve been simply allowing me to work out and then having a manager follow up with me later. The way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional, humiliating, and unacceptable. If this is how Tru-Fit treats paying customers, I do not want to come back to this gym and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Nobody should have the cops called on them over a picture when they’re paying top dollar to be here!!

My grandson is 17 years old and I am his legal guardian. They got him a membership there and let someone else sign for him and would not cancel membership since technically it is not a valid membership since I the legal guardian did not consent and they have been debiting his account. My grandson thought it was 45 dollars a month and it is 45 a week are you seriously stealing money from miners.....
