First time being a member with TruFit and getting a membership at this location in Harlingen, Texas. I am very disappointed with my whole experience. This gym is NOT properly maintained, the facility often lacks cleanliness, the cleaning spray bottles are hardly ever refilled making it difficult to wipe down equipment after use. Several machines also need maintenance. The women's restroom always has a funky smell. I could just image the showers, luckily I have not even tried to go in there. This gym needs some changing to do.

Then, the cancellation process is another major issue. You’re required to email in order to cancel your membership, and even after doing so, they continue to charge for another two more months. I was not expecting this kind of poor experience and hassle when switching gym's. This has really cost me in poor decision making for my well being.

Do not get a membership at this gym. Its a TRAP!

The gym and the classes are amazing! Instructors are upbeat and keep the attendees engaged, and the workout is great! This gym is truly worth the price of membership! Gyms in other areas of Texas do not offer the workout machines and especially the variety of classes offered here! Mando at the front desk is so cordial and exhibits customer service which is rare these days!

Equipment is fair but not versatile. Cleanliness is subpar. But, I came on here to say, their enrollment is fine but the canceling of your membership is terrible. You dont get it done at the gym, but over the phone in which they then tell you to send an email. Fair enough, but when you follow that process, I was still getting charged an extra 2 months and when I called to rectify, I had to show additional proof. So I did. I'm still getting harassed via phone calls for payments I have already paid.

I've been a customer at TruFit for three years, I've written stories about this gym for the paper, I'm a Gulf War vet with PTSD and I was hitting the rallies Saturday for something I believe in,
and I did NOT deserve what happened to me tonight.
I have never given anyone here any trouble.

HELP!!! This week even got more screwed up.

10:15 p.m.
At about 8:30 p.m. I was enjoying my workout at Trufit in Harlingen when a young woman whom I had never seen before glared at me with a hateful stare and pointed at a chair and ordered “Sit down.”
I was rather perplexed and annoyed at being spoken to this way, especially someone I had never met and was in fact young enough to be my granddaughter.
She went to her desk and returned with her phone and was glaring at me in a way I found intimidating and she started barking accusations at me that I had been taking pictures in the gym which was against policy and against privacy and then she said she was going to call the police and they were going to get a warrant for my phone and they were going to go through my phone and even if the pictures had been deleted they would find them.
She said all this very quickly rapid fire at me and I felt intimidated and it even seemed she was deliberately trying to antagonize me. I kept telling her I had not been taking pictures and she just kept glaring hatefully at me and I was intimidated and even felt a bit violated at being so harshly accused of something.
The way she came at me with such a hateful stare and tone was extremely juvenile and unprofessional and it appeared she had already decided I was guilty. In fact, she had already found me guilty of all charges.
By this time I was shaking and unnerved and she was obviously trying to intimidate me with this ugly tone and the threat to call the police that I had called the police chief myself as I have him on speed dial because I am a reporter for the Valley and I showed it to her and said, ‘If you want to talk to the police, here. Go right ahead.’
I finished with the weights and then went upstairs and got on the bike. I was on the bike for 13 minutes and a young man probably in his twenties asked me to leave.
There was no reason for me to leave. I wasn’t doing anything. I wasn’t threatening. I was just minding my own business on the bike. This was also unprofessional.
As I was walking out she gave an extremely juvenile grin as if to say, ‘haha, I won.’ And she goes you’re the one that called the police.’
Yes, after you threatened to.
This thing was handled so unprofessionally it was bizarre. This girl didn’t even know me and she charged into me like a gorilla with these accusations about taking pictures. I don’t take pictures at the gym, not even of myself. I see people do so all the time and no one thinks twice about it.
I have been with this gym for three years with no problem and have even written stories about the gym for the Valley Morning Star and given them publicity.
I did recall seeing one individual there, a man giving me the stink eye like he had it in for me, although I have never seen him before.
The way this was handled was wrong. She came at me, she provoked a reaction, and she seemed like she was on some little powertrip. And she was throwing all this silly one-liners typical of a girl her age that were so familiar and so predictable I could write the script.
If my membership is terminated, that would be even more bizarre and even laughable.
Just another example of how this world has become so unhinged.
The correct course of action would be an apology.

I would like to give thanks to Montse from the tru-fit off Ed Carey in Harlingen. Not only did she make the sign up process super easy, but she also made sure to offer information on all the class and time they offer. She also explain the process so I could sign up my 2 kids as members as well. She was so helpful and informational. She also call me a few days after to let me know how was my first few work outs. I've experienced ongoing issues at this gym. The ceiling leaks whenever it rains, the problem still hasn’t been addressed. The paper towel dispensers are often empty, making it difficult to clean equipment properly. The floors are consistently dirty, and there’s visible dust throughout the facility—cleaning appears to be minimal at best. I also found the cancellation process frustrating. I was a member for only a month, realized the gym didn’t meet my standards, and still ended up being charged for an additional month plus the annual fee.

I have been working out here for a few years. Milly, a trainer, has been exceptional in improving my fitness routine and health. The manager, Jay, is very professional, and it is obvious that he takes great pride in his work by continuously tidying up the workout areas and checking in on the gym goers.

The men’s locker room is disgusting, smells horrible, I’ve asked employees many times and nothing changes. Music is trash, playing country love songs during workouts is not my thing, again I asked if they can change and employees never did anything about it. Lastly, the men’s restroom is always out of soap, and now none of the hand sanitizers are filled.

Love this gym, the daycare especially since they actually give me my time to workout and I know I can trust them with my kids, especially Amanda, who my daughter loves so much😊💕 Amanda is always happy to see her and I've never had issues with her.

The sauna is always broken, workers do not maintain organization on the floor, literally have to step over equipment left on floor. It seems like they wait for housekeeping to move weights where they belong. Broken doors in dressing room, broken paper towel holder so we get to use paper towel from a wet roll sitting on a wet counter, needed paint, counter need regrout, floors are mopped but dirty. Group fitness room damage floor and ceiling tiles, plastic falling off all the weights, all the mats are torn.

Tru Fit is a great place to work out. There’s a strong sense of community & support among the staff & gym members. I also really love their work out classes Yoga & Warrior Rhythm. This is the best location I’ve been to.

My wife and I recently opened up an account. The lady told us about a promotion they were having about us paying $4 for the month and then charging us the normal for next month. To my surprise they ended up charging us on the 31st and not next month. My wife spoke to someone over the phone she didn't want to make a big deal but she didn't have any money in her account currently. She was over drafted and had to pay an additional 35 to the bank. Pls the charge of the account. And the person over the phone was not trying to be understanding of the situation they have caused us.

I recently enrolled my girlfriend in a gym membership, during which she was offered a 4-month personal training package for $1400. However, without her consent, the gym deceitfully charged her for an additional month, despite the fact that she had not used all her training sessions.
When we addressed this issue with Mr. Israel Mendez, he was unresponsive and did not resolve the problem. Upon requesting the contact information for higher management, Mr. Mendez claimed that there were no higher authorities or corporate contacts available. He further stated that there was no one higher than him to address our concerns and mentioned that "Amber" could assist us, but she never called us.
We still have not receive a prompt resolution to this matter. Be very careful guys.
