Absolutely love this gym. As someone who’s been going to commercial gyms for years, it feels refreshing going to a gym like Houston Athletic Club. It has all the equipment I need for whatever my goals may be; including bodybuilding, powerlifting, and now strongman. There are an abundance on accessories and tools at the gym to help with your goals. The gym never feels packed or crowded even during peak hours, allowing you and everyone else to work on what you need. I highly recommend this gym to all newcomers and veterans alike.

I highly recommend HAC… This place has been my home for the last two years and had everything I needed to start my journey! It’s typically not packed, and completing my workout without having to wait on equipment has been very nice as well as having a variety of equipment to use! Sadly I am moving across town and will no longer be close enough to continue coming but highly suggest stopping by and having a look… I guarantee you will be making the right choice if you decide to choose this gym!

Found Houston Athletic Club , it’s an individually owned gym, on my Gympass. I absolutely love this gym it’s small and very clean. There’s no pressure from others or feeling judged. The owner is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the 24hr access as I work shift work. I do feel safe coming in early morning as the place is completely locked and security cameras throughout. Thank you!!

Highly recommend this gym. Open 24hrs makes it possible to go in spite of my crazy work and home schedules. It has nearly doubled in size the past year, with plenty of options to fit your workout needs. I’ve been attending the gym here for near a couple of years, and consistently David, the owner, had been very personable and professional, openly gives advice and pointers if asked, and also offers excellent training lessons. Has clients established for years. Drew, another trainer there, is also very knowledgeable and great at what he does. He holds a “Strongman” class that my wife and I both take and enjoy. Check the place out! Slightly off the beaten path, but worth every penny!

Everything I could want in a gym. It had all the strength equipment I want and more, enough floor space to do more than traditional weightlifting, and the atmosphere is very community oriented. David and Drew knew mine and everyone else’s names each time I saw them, and were super helpful and friendly. The 24 hour access is always a plus. Equipment was in great shape and I never had a problem. I will definitely be coming back.

Great no-nonsense gym with solid equipment and no large crowds - couldn't ask for anything more.

I've been coming to this gym for several months mainly for the turf area with sleds as I train for the Hyrox competition but I've loved using the Oly and deadlift platforms along with the squat cage to supplement my training with strength exercises.

All the equipment is very well maintained and there is plenty of space and availability that I have never had to wait even if there are multiple people doing the same exercises.

I highly recommend checking this gym out if you're local to the area or dropping in if you're visiting!

Long overdue review. I've been a member for about 6 months now, and I must say, the place is great. Despite the size of the gym, its offers everything you need to achieve your fitness goals. David and Drew, the trainers, are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about various health aspects, whether it's muscle growth, weight loss, or cross-fit training. Whatever your goals may be, they're dedicated to helping you reach them.

It’s been a couple years since I was last at HAC, but I will say for the short time I there I very much enjoyed. I was getting personal training lessons for powerlifting by Mark twice a week, and he was not only very understanding, but was also very accommodating, willing to work with you, and he was very easy to talk to. I do plan on going back HAC. Hopefully, Mark is still there when I finally get cleared by the doctor’s to start working out again. I highly recommend this gym to anybody that’s looking for a gym to train at or is wanting to get training in Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, or even Bodybuilding.

I wanted to start working with a personal trainer to increase my accountability and to push me to lift heavier than what I would do on my own. I found HAC through a Google location search and loved that it was really close to home. I have been training with David now for close to 5 months and have really enjoyed the gym atmosphere here, the programming and methodology David uses, and the communication style David uses to encourage me through my workouts. He's not a tough scary intimidating guy! He's laid back and very approachable but gets to the point. You pay him for an hour to workout and you'll be working out for that hour!
The gym itself is kept really clean and organized and has a ton of different pieces of equipment to offer. Anything you'd need for a good workout you'll be able to find at HAC. If you're considering a good private gym to train at then you need to head over Houston Athletic Club to check it out!!

Solid, locally-owned gym. While not particularly large, it maximizes the space by having a selection of equipment that can accommodate any fitness routine. David is the owner - great trainer and solid dude. This is an EXCELLENT place for beginners to get started or for those looking for a more toned-down, but still serious gym environment.

David is friendly and professional, and his experience really helped me progress way better than I'd ever imagined I could. I can do five pullups at a time now (previous best was 0.5 pullups) and am deadlifting 1.5 times my bodyweight! I unfortunately left because my jobs gym opened back up after the pandemic, but I'll miss this place! Friendly staff, great equipment (lots of squat and bench racks), at a very affordable monthly rate. If you don't mind no AC, this is absolutely the place for you.

Great place, has almost all the equipment I’d need in my weekly training plan, but I wish the gym wouldn’t sometimes be locked out of nowhere without any warning, maybe an alert of some sorts sent through text would be nice, just think it’s important since the place is advertised as 24hours. Overall great place though.

I would recommend HAC to literally anyone looking for a new gym, whether you already know what you're doing or (like me) are new to everything.

There are no gimmicks, no confusing contracts, no upselling. Prices are extremely reasonable and both the trainers and clientele are down to earth and focused on the workouts. I've been working with David for four months now and he's been incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable.

For nervous folks out there: Prior to stepping foot in this gym, I had absolutely zero experience with any sort of training. Worse, I had a pretty sizeable fear of not knowing what I was doing and looking ridiculous. If you are worried about that, please give this place a try and work with someone for a few months. I promise it will be worth it.

I've been an official member. I can't get enough of it. The trainers are excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Everyone is incredibly friendly and willing to assist. We're always doing something different with each trainer, whether it's high intensity days or ab days, upper and lower body. Everything is done in a group workout format, which I enjoy, or you may do personalized training. You don't have to be a fitness expert to come here, and it doesn't matter how much knowledge you have about weight training. They will teach you everything you need to know to perform things correctly. You should look into it.

I am a longtime fitness advocate who started a more serious journey into weight lifting a few years ago. I did my research, purchased and implemented various programs (Starting Strength, Wendler Log, etc.), with good results but I still was not progressing the way I felt I should have.

I’ve been using David’s, a trainer at HAC, programming for a little over a month now and I am now starting to break through my plateau and move on to my next level of strength training.

Additionally, I get personalized feedback based on my performance, form issues, and adaptations on the fly if I’m feeling iffy about a lift. I’ve received advice and feedback from the other trainer, Marc, which has been invaluable as well.

HAC will definitively up your game in a chill and friendly environment with highly competent trainers

Joining this gym is one of my best decisions for personal training sessions before the pandemic starts, as the staff and other members are super cautious about it while I achieve my goal. The gym is also open-aired, which helps circulate the air.

I've been with the gym with Mark the owner as my trainer since the beginning. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and patient to help me lift weights in the proper form, giving me a good pump. So, over the years, I have seen some improvements in myself.

There is a wide variety of machines, weights, and other equipment in the gym for anyone to use. The gym consists of members, whose goals are to lose weight, make gains, or attend some competitions. Everything, as well as the environment, is very clean because they are consistently wiped down and cleaned. Also, all the staff as well as the members are super-friendly. They have one-on-one personal training, group training, and independent sessions. Their hours are also flexible. There are also virtual training sessions available, where I find them useful to lift at home or away from town with Mark online: they keep me motivated.

Dear Internet,

This place has been great! I've been going for about 4 months now and working with owner/operator David. As a beginner, I could not ask for a better experience. David worked with me on my somewhat difficult schedule and opens the doors early so that I can train. The gym is small but seems to have all the bases covered when it comes to equipment.

My goals coming in were to exercise (which I was not doing at all before) and improve my quality of life. I find myself now looking forward to my next session (I don't dread it!). As for quality of life, a lot of little aches and pains have gone away. I feel stronger and more confident, my posture has improved, and I just feel better overall.

David is very laid back, but he really knows his stuff. Every time I ask him a question thinking I'll get a simple answer, I'm blown away that he always comes up with something really well thought out and evidence based. He sticks to simple, tried and true methods and always has a reason behind each exercise. He also approaches things as a guide and teacher rather than a drill sergeant. I don't think I would have come back if he had been really intense! On the flip side, I know that he has mentioned working with clients who are in the military as well as some clients who lift competitively, so he is clearly able to adapt his style for a broad range of clients.

Overall, I have no regrets choosing this place. If you're looking for a local place that is comfortable and adaptable to a broad range of training needs I think you can find that at HAC.
