It is impossible to put into words how this studio has been life-changing for my family and I.
While my son and I are the only ones who train but my entire family is seeing the benefits.
I’ve wanted to learn karate for most of my life, but the time was right for me to start at 40.
The culture and environment are such that it is easy to leave your problems off the map and find some relief; even if it’s just for an hour a week.
The instructors are approachable and no one acts like they are above anyone else.
I can’t recommend it enough.

The dojo is great and always super clean! Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming and the classes are solid. They also have various kinds of classes from Kenpo to Karate to Weapons. I’d definitely recommend training here.

This is an amazing place. We truly enjoy being here as a part of WTK. Initially started with my son then myself joined to get more time with my son and it worked great and I truly loved practicing Karate over there. Sir and Ma’am and the rest of the group leading the practice are truly some of the best in Lubbock. We are so glad to be part of this place.

We have been with WTK for almost 4 years now, and couldn't be happier. My son started as a Little Dragon (age 4-6) and is now in the regular karate class. My husband and I are now both members, and our youngest is in Little Dragons. This is a family centered organization, where each person is always encouraged to do their personal best. Even during COVID they have maintained a friendly yet safe environment. It's actually the only extracurricular activity my family has kept up during the pandemic. They are absolutely amazing!!

I’ve been here for over a year I’ve loved every class I’ve been to! They’re a great group that pushes you to grow and doesn’t see you as just another number. The leadership really invests in their students. Very family friendly too. My confidence has grow so much since joining.

Great school with knowledgeable leadership, ready to train beginners to experienced practitioners alike. A traditional art from the ground up, to include weapons training and self defense. Advanced training is available for those who are up for a real challenge. Be prepared to put in the work, reward only comes with practice and dedication at this dojang!

My time at WTK was cut short by me moving away from Lubbock, but I highly recommend them. The instructors are amazing and treated me and my friends like family. WTK was an amazing experience and an amazing way to learn self defense for all ages. It’s a great place to build friendships and learn discipline. I learned things there I would’ve never learned anywhere else. If you’re looking to learn self defense or even just a new hobby it’s the perfect place to be.

My daughter was extremely nervous to start karate but this place set her at ease. They have a lot of girls young and old at their school and everyone is so great with new students. She has moved up a few belts and wants to be part of WTK forever which makes me feel more confident in her defending herself. Thanks for all that you all do for her

Master Hinkle and Bu Sabom Galvan are excellent! We have been so happy with experiences here. This school is a wonderful asset to their public school learning as well. I’d recommend this to anyone interested in physical fitness and mental discipline.

West Texas Karate has been my home away from home for 5 years now, and I have loved every minute of it! The instructors are always encouraging and everyone there has become like family to me. WTK has changed my life forever in the most positive way possible, it has given me more confidence, taught me respect for everyone around me, and I have absolutely fallen in love with martial arts. If you ever get the chance, drop in and talk to one of our instructors about starting your martial arts journey with West Texas Karate!

Not sure about those negative reviews. Sounds more personal rather than professional. My girls started West Texas Karate (WTK) 4 years ago, at the ages of 3.5 and 5. My husband and I joined 2 years ago when they started up family classes, so we could train together as a family. Since then, the school has grown considerably from around 25-30 students to around 200 students. Not only is this a wonderful, family-oriented school, but they emphasize respect, diligence, integrity, concentration, discipline, focus, self improvement, and leadership. In addition to martial arts and weapons training, there is a leadership curriculum that will far surpass anything else other martial arts schools have to offer. Much of what is taught here, your children may never get in school...but these are lessons that will shape you and your children to be leaders and promote success in whatever you do. What they hope to infuse is not just a sport to learn, but a way of life to live. I encourage you to stop by, watch some classes, talk to the students, parents, instructors and staff (or Master Chad Hinkle himself)...and try it out for yourself. There are no year-long contracts to "bind" you to the school. It may not be for everyone. But you will never know until you come see and try it out for yourself. Don't take others' words for it.
