We celebrated my daughter's 6th birthday with 26 kids, and Westwood Gymnastics took great care of us! The coaches and staff were so sweet and helpful. The team makes it so easy - they help set up, take the kids around to different stations, and when it's time for cake they assist with everything (passing out food/drinks, cleaning up, and putting the presents in our car). Highly recommend and made our day so easy and FUN! Their assistance throughout the party allowed my husband and I to be in the moment and enjoy the party with our daughter and friends.

My daughter loves her gymnastics classes!

Not giving more stars due to my experience with Jennifer her attitude over the phone was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional.
Also, parents should know that Coach Rafaela often yells at the kids and doesn’t treat them kindly.

The rest of the staff has been great though.

We recently hosted a birthday party here, and I would absolutely never recommend this place to anyone. There was no transparency whatsoever about the fact that the kids would not be allowed to use any of the actual gymnastics equipment. Instead, our group of 13-year-olds was restricted to a tiny section of the mat, where they were constantly walked from one small area to another, forced to sit down each time and listen to rules before moving again. It was frustrating, tedious, and completely inappropriate for this age.
To make matters worse, at one point a coach actually screamed at the kids to “hush your mouth” during yet another rules session. That kind of treatment is unprofessional, disrespectful, and absolutely not what you want for a birthday celebration.

On top of that, it was not disclosed in advance that our “party area” would be in the grimy, uninviting lobby. It felt like an afterthought, not a celebration space. For the price we paid, this was an enormous disappointment and nothing like what was presented to us.

If you’re looking for a fun, engaging, and clean birthday party experience, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This was a complete waste of time and money.

I need to do the makeup class but before their expire day and don't allow any change after scheduled. why don't you refund or charge 3 classes??? wasting money.

I had a very concerning experience here. A male coach in the preschool class grabbed my daughter’s hand and squeezed it so tightly that it caused her pain and said rude words to her. I immediately brought this to the office staff’s attention, but their response was dismissive (“oooh ok”) and nothing further was done. She mentioned okay we will charge you for the following month then your classes will be cancelled.

No follow up or anything. This behavior makes me question their professionalism and whether they should be working with young children. The teachers seem annoyed and should reevaluate their position within this company. I don’t recommend this place whatsoever. It’s cheap for a reason with mediocre courses.

Do not waste your money and time here. They are racist and rude at this gym to new or potential trainees. My daughter (2Y) and I decided to go with my neighbor and her daughter (3Y) to see how her classes went, and they were rude to us from the moment we went in the gym. They wouldn’t do “free try out” on the spot nor allow a 2 year old on the huge gym park since only “enrolled girls” are allowed (my daughter was crying because she wanted to join her neighbor) even after the trainer allowed her to join the classes and some random Caucasian lady decided to kick her out. I was considering enrolling my daughter but due to obvious reason we will not be coming back. My neighbor is also considering switching gyms after this experience.

The best gymnastics and tumbling gym in Katy. The coaches make things happen here. They are constantly monitoring encouraging and motivating kids. The training area is really huge. There’s lots of seats for parents to watch their kids in action. The whole training sessions are planned so well. They use a variety of training foams that make the whole thing very safe.

Kids are not safe their! My child went there for parent's day out and was kicked & pushed by an older kid. No one of the adult supervising saw anything. They seem to not even care. Which is frustrating when taking your child to a place that promises to keep you child safe and fails to do so. I don't recommend this place for drop off of any type. They have too many kids and not enough adults to watch them closely.

My child hasn’t attended anything yet but i’m giving one star simply for the fact the Melody, the lady in the office was extremely RUDE from the moment we walked in. When we walked in she just handed us a paper saying “ you can walk around and here’s everything we offer”. So we had to find some else the dance director then explained everything. We went back and signed up and she was extremely rude and incompetent. She has a TERRIBLE attitude and makes a HORRIBLE first impression for the whole place. Seems like she really hates her job and it’s SAD that’s the face you see when you walk in for the first time interested in what they have to offer. She should be fired.

UPDATE: We switched to a slightly earlier time slot with a different coach and it's been great. Revising the rating upwards.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This facility is fine if you are lucky enough to get a coach that is really committed. My daughter (currently enrolled as beginner) had a great coach for some time. Then they changed the coach and the current one is far from the expected standard. Still three stars because it is very possible that you may get lucky and find a good coach for your child..

I'm sorry I didn't get to this sooner because the tumbling coaches and dance teachers at Westwood deserve to be recognized for the encouragement, guidance and love they pour into these kids. My daughter has been in dance the past 4.5 years and tumbling the past year. SHE LOVES IT!!! She loved gymnastics and those coaches, as well, which she was in for 3 years, but felt she needed more of a challenge, which is the reason she switched to tumbling. The dance teachers are amazing at finding each child's strength and love for the different type of dance and they are great at building on that. I feel like I need to specifically mention the tumbling coaches because I was a little worried my super sensitive daughter wouldn't be able to handle the male coaches if they corrected her in a tone louder than a whisper. Haha! I will admit, she's cried during and after one or two of her classes. Not because they yelled at her or put her down, but because they believed in her and encouraged her to push through her fear so she could accomplish what they and I knew she could do. Well, today she did it! She got mad at her fear, listened to her coach and did a back handspring without a spotter!!!! All the tumbling coaches cheered and congratulated her. That gave her the confidence to do it again and again and again! These are the kind of coaches and teachers I looked and prayed for. People who will encourage my daughter to challenge herself, set expectations and teach her how to get there.

I love Westwood. I would highly recommend for gymnastics classes and for birthday parties.

Birthday parties: I recently had a joint birthday party for both of my daughters (7 & 5 years old) on a Saturday from 3pm to 430p. Everything was so seemless and easy. We had 30 kids and the 3 coaches (Kiara, Chris, and Ashley) were so extremely helpful. I arrived at 245p and they already had tables and chairs set out. The coaches help me unload my car, put out the Tablecloths, and get my goodie bags ready . I brought 2 cakes, tablecloths, plates, napkins, silverware, pizza, goody bags, and a cooler of juice/water. For a party of 30, I got 4 Tables for the kids to sit and eat, 1 table for the cake, and another table for presents. They had a whole system in place. Guests arrived, checked in, put the presents on the table, kids took off shoes/socks into cubby, and then off to the party. The kids stayed together in each area. They rotated every 15 minutes. Started in an area while everyone arrived, went to the beams, uneven bars, big foam pit & rope, and then they ended at the big park in the corner. In each area the coaches gave clear direction and made sure everyone was safe. They also started each area with my girls first with everyone saying happy birthday. If you have a kid under 3, then a parent just followed and they were able to stay with the group. We had 4 or 5 little kids under 3. After the activities, the coaches helped serve the pizza, drinks, cut and serve the cake, and distribute our goody bags. The coaches also put all our presents in 3 big bags and helped load the car. I was not stressed or anxious at all since the coaches did such an amazing job. They had all 30 kids moving to each station and all sitting and eating at the same time. I was able to talk and chat with the other parents since the coaches handled everything. They definitely made my girls feel extra special. Little things like having photo opportunities at every station and in the big park having Happy Birthday written on the wall was chef's kiss. I had 6 or 7 parents say it was well run and it was the best gymnastics party they had ever been too. My car was loaded with presents, left over cake and pizza, and everything cleaned up by 440p. Thank you to Coach Chris, Kiara, and Ashley. I would highly recommend these coaches for your next party if you have lots of kids, don't want to stress, and want to be able to talk to other parents.

I had a terrible experience and vowed never to visit or recommend westwood to anyone. All the people I referred withdrew their kids after seeing what happened to my daughter. I signed up my daughter about two years ago in gymnastics and later on added tumbling. A week after she got elevated to level 3, she had a terrible fall and broke both arms and wrist. My oldest daughter rushed her to the emergency room. I wept for my poor baby because she went through a lot of pain. We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon. This event happened in April of 2024, and not for once did any member of the management reach out to us to find out how my baby was doing. Only the coach that was present when the incident happened gave me a call once or twice to check on her. When I went in to cancel her membership, the lady I met, who I guess is the manager, had the effrontery to tell me to bring her back on time to secure her membership. Are you kidding me right now? My daughter had a cast on for 2 and a half months, and she's expected to have another surgery in December to take the ROT that was used to hold her bones together out. My daughter cried every day, and so am i. Thank God for the amazing principal, her teacher, her school nurse, and the nurse aide who fed and took care of her while she could not do anything at school. All I requested from these bunch of useless people are to show they care about their students and their well-being. I never requested anything from you but to show that you care. So sad.

I knew this day would come eventually, but I guess as parents we are never prepared for it. I have a 4-year autistic son, who is very happy, loving, smile all day, and despite his autism he is very affectionate and loves to be hugged and has no problem being around other kids.
Since we found out about his condition, we realized that eventually we would face some sort of prejudice, however, during these 4 years we found nothing but wonderful and very accommodating people and venues…. Until today unfortunately.

We were invited to a birthday party at Westwood gymnastics. Their parties are based on a circuit, where they take the kids to different parts of the gym accompanied by a coach. However, being autistic and non-verbal, unfortunately I cannot have a conversation with my son yet. Therefore, he is not able to stay with the group, he finds what he likes to play and just stay there. For this venue it is the mountain with the slides. We’ve been to many parties there before, and my son can keep going up and down on those slides for the entire party.

As they have multiple parties at the same time, I did my best to avoid him from going there while they had other parties in the mountain. But when I noticed it was empty I took him there as it was a great opportunity for him to enjoy it, needless to mention, I was there the whole time solely to watch him.

That’s when an employee came to me and said that he could not stay there, and that he must stay with the coach assigned to our party. I gently explained to her his condition and that he can’t understand the commands of the coach and he would just try to keep going back to the mountain… but to no avail… I explained that I was there watching him, that I had signed the waiver, and that the only alternative was for me to take him home. Yet she said those are the rules and so I had leave with him, crying on my way home.

I cannot avoid comparing this situation to a park I went while I was in Brazil, called “Parque da Mônica”. Once they figured out my son was autistic, they first said they wouldn’t charge me, to which I was pleasantly surprise, but I insisted on paying anyhow, after all it’s a business. But they completely refused to take my payment, AND they gave my wife a special lanyard that identified my son as special need. Some rides/toys that are normally busy have a time limit for each kid, but that lanyard meant that special kids were not restricted by their time limit.

I acknowledge that it must be hard for people without special need kids to fully understand the hardship that parents in this situation must go through. My review is not meant to disqualify the place, it’s just a warning for any parents with special need kids or someone that might have guests with special conditions or for people that just care about real inclusion.

My daughter has been going on their gym for Gymnastics, dance classes and summer camp for years. I will therefore cancel all her participation on this gym as well change the plan to have her birthday party there. Our friends also seemed very annoyed with the situation, and I wouldn’t doubt they’ll ever throw a party over there again.

I acknowledge that no business is obliged to be inclusive, but I finish this letter in tears just realizing that I need to prepare myself as most likely I’ll start facing more saddening encounters like this.

My son had a good experience here four years ago. And my daughter is taking both gymnastics and ballet class here. The ballet teacher is awesome, gymnastic coach is ok. What drives me crazy is the registration girl is being ridiculous. I made a call on Thursday to change my daughters gymnastics class from Friday to Tuesday and said very clear that this change should start from the next week, so this week, she should still be on Friday class. We missed the Friday class and we should receive a makeup credit, but we didn't. I went to the office and they said the change made immediately and no makeup credit. When a business make a reasonable request unreasonable, means they don't care your business at all. Time to leave.

Update: the response from business is even more ridiculous. The so called FREE fifth class is offered to every student and is included in the whole enrollment. They made a mistake messing up my class schedule, and refused to make up because it's free. Seems like they can take back FREE fifth class freely as they want. The way they handle their mistake is very impressive.

Find a different gym! They only care about taking your money and the ratio of coach to children is out of control. I experienced frustration with particularly unfriendly and uncaring coaches during my child’s time in classes, but my final frustration came when I pulled my child from one of their camps. First off, there are not enough personnel managing these camps. There are too many kids, so bullying behavior is frequently overlooked. After deciding to cancel my child’s enrollment in a second camp (because she was begging not to go back!), I called the gym to cancel. I spoke with a manager and was met with aggression and shaming. The manager emphasized that I would not get money back. I didn’t care about the money - what I wanted was for someone to apologize for my child’s poor experience. I received no such apology. I have never had such a horrible interaction with someone so unempathetic. I was offered credits, which I will clearly not be using.

Our child attended dance summer camps here, and we did not like them. It ended up with tears and bad memories for my child. We signed up our child (in advance) for all summer camps at this place. What we didn't know is that they give "medals" at the end of each of their camps.
It seems like half of the medals were given to insiders, i.e. kids who signed up for the year-round dance school. The rest of medals seem to be given pretty randomly, with a lot of emphasis on minorities and youngest kids, and with little correlation to their skills. For example, one girl who got a medal was not dancing at all during the graduation show and was standing all the time.
As much as I don't care about a "medal", I paid money for several camps, and each time I had unhappy child at the end.

My daughter has been coming here since she was 3 and is almost 6 now. We love Westwood so much. She’s tried most of the classes but has been in tumbling and gymnastics for years now. There are tons of
Coaches with different teaching styles and they make it easy to move around coaches/days/class times so you can find who works best for your child. They have the easiest make up policy and tons of special events for holidays, when school is closed or even just extra practice clinics and open gyms. They keep the facility clean and maintain all of their equipment really well. Highly recommend!

We went in for a 5:40 trial class on a Monday. Staff was not welcoming at all and coaches are worse. You can tell they are not fond of new students in their class. Only paid attention to their students and didn’t bother to explain anything to us on how the facility works or the class. I tried getting the coaches attention a couple of times to ask a question and was blown off. Will be looking for a different facility for my children.

I’d post the details of my experience but it’s too much for anyone to read through because at this point the lack of decent communication is maddening! I will comment the most disrespectful conversation I had was with a person named Edna who was identified as a manager (wow, I’ve been in customer service management for 25+ years and If I treated my customers the way she treated me, I would not have any)
My situation for my granddaughter was not complicated at all yet Westwood Gymnastics made it ridiculously stressful. All from my asking a very simple question regarding makeup classes. WE WON’T BE BACK! There are many other options in Katy where I’m certain our participation will be appreciated.

I was present at a party tonight where I just wanted to give some feedback. My husband and father-in-law both have worked in gymnastic facilities, and I feel like what I witnessed tonight would be something that needs to be addressed with the staff.

At the party my kid was present at, another child threw up. When the kid threw up, the mom was trying to get him off of the floor when he started to throw up again. Instead of trying to help the mom, get a trash can, lead them towards the bathrooms, literally ANYTHING, the employee leading our party said very aggressively to the mom, "GET HIM OFF THE FLOOR NOW", as though she wasn't trying to get him off?

After this, it took a good 5-10 minutes before anyone started cleaning the vomit up. At least 3 employees stood around talking about the throw up before one finally started cleaning it. No one stood near it to warn others not to step in it, so I personally watched 2 little kids run straight through it since there was no one or nothing to stop them from doing so.

At this point, I did not realize that the child did not leave. He should have left as soon as he threw up, and I don't understand why this was not addressed with his parents or the party hosts. I did not witness any conversations so I do not have information on what happened during this time.

When the kids started eating, the child was apparently still present and threw up, again. After this, the employee was obviously tired of what was going on and started verbally berating the parents to get them to leave. I understand her frustrations but her behavior was completely inappropriate. Telling people over and over that they need to leave, loudly reprimanding them for not taking their child home earlier and claiming that she "did not want to clean up throw up for a 3rd time". When the parents said they were trying to find the kid's shoes, the employee responded that "they are obviously in the cubbies, you need to leave now".

The kids finished their food and cake, and after about 20 minutes, I went over to get my daughter, who was sitting very near the boy who had thrown up before. As I went to get her, I stepped in the throw up that I assumed had been cleaned up already, since the employee was loudly complaining about having to clean up the throw up multiple times. I do not understand why the kids were having to eat next to throw up instead of it being cleaned up immediately. It is absolutely disgusting. Again- no one cleaned up THROW UP while other kids were eating next to it. No one blocked it off so people wouldn't step in it (another girl FELL IN IT). No one did anything, except to complain about the kid throwing up and berate the parents to leave.

The unprofessionalism, disgusting practices, disgusting behaviors and lack of empathy are only part of the reasons why we will never return to your facility.

My child went to Westwood Gymnastics for summer camps and she took gymnastics classes there as well. She loved going there so was excited to go to Westwood's Halloween Extravaganza. I gave her money so she could eat because they had pizza and various other snacks there, however when I came to pick her up she said she didn't eat while she was there. I asked the coaches why they did not make sure she ate and was told she had opportunities to eat but did not use her money to eat because she was too busy playing. My daughter is 7 years old and was left to fend for herself for food while she was there. I left my child in your care and it is the adults responsibility to make sure kids eat. Kids that young should not be left to decide when/if they should eat. There should have been a set time to eat during the party as there has been during all the other events my child has participated in at Westwood. I would give this place a zero rating if I could. I will not be sending my child back to Westwood as they do not know how to properly take care of young children. When you have young children in your care it's the adults responsibility to make sure kids eat. Eating should not be a free for all for very young kids when they participate in events like this as kids this age do not properly know how to take care of themselves (making sure they eat) yet that is why they are put in the care of adults at this age.

My son was treated horribly here by a coach!! We have been members for three years and all the coaches know my child and we have never had a bad experience until this week in the tumbling class at 4:25 pm. My son is extremely well behaved and this coach was aggressive with him. He slammed my sons hands down on the floor while helping him with his bridge. Then the coach jerked his body up into the proper bridge position while he grit his teeth. I could not hear what the coach was saying to him but his body language showed extreme frustration. It made my son cry and I removed him from class. He was scared. This was abusive. My son was listening and following directions I did not understand where the frustration came from. I am extremely upset. There is no reason to be so aggressive with small children!

The place smells horrible, I don’t see any improvement in the past 6 months, I would not recommend this place I was told I could still use all make up classes even if I drop them off for summer and it wasn’t true.

I've literally been calling for the past 45 minutes. No one will answer the phone.

Update: an hour later someone finally answers the phone to tell me to call back in an hour or 2 there's no one in the office .

After both of my children having being enrolled here, my daughter in dance and gymnastics, my son in tumbling for a year and 9 months, we had to leave tonight. Coach Jacob typically cuts up and jokes with the kids. Evidently that changed and when my 12 year old son joked back with him, he was asked to leave class. After getting manager Edna involved Jacob came to me and my son and said he felt like the joking was crossing over from coach/student relationship to friends and he needed to draw the line. He then said my son could come back and join the class. I’m so very upset that for one he humiliated my child in front of the other students over something so petty. And for two, why in the WORLD would the gym coach not WANT to friend the students? Not like hanging out outside of gym class but be civil and give the kids someone positive to look up to? Needless to say I’m looking for a new gym for my kids.

We really wanted to love this place at first it started off well the coaches were very professional and took time with my daughter but after her 4th week I can tell they didn’t really want to deal with her anymore both of their demeanor had changed. My daughter did need a lot of redirection but I was very upfront with them to let me know if this is something they think will be a good fit for her or to possibly do private classes and they reassured me that it takes time for her age and that we would just need to be consistent with her. Today I witnessed coach JJ basically single out my child during a routine talking to the other students about her behavior and not addressing it with my child. This didn’t sit well with me I don’t appreciate having my daughter being singled out or pointed at I was horrified at how I could hear the parents giggle and I hope they make changes and train staff accordingly to age appropriate guidance and discipline and to stay consistent.

We've had our girls going to Westwood for near 10 years now and we haven't even bothered looking elsewhere; there hasn't been any reason too.
It's a great gym for those that are not necessarily looking for the competitive environment or have kids that are just getting started.
When the kids get more advanced, the tumbling coaches are top notch!

We LOVE our classes at Westwood! The coaches are personable and so involved. The facilities are always clean and organized. We love coming here and make the extra drive to continue taking classes at Westwood even though there are other gyms that are closer to us!

I do not recommend this place, the teachers are only focused on child that have a good level instead that child needs to be helped. The teachers are not friendly kids, they don’t smile, they looks like they are not enjoying teaching gymnastic and that’s make child afraid and they don’t want to go in this place. Also there are only one teacher per level for many child....

I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they are sure that is the place they want to be. I registered my child after she enjoyed the first few classes, but for some reason my 3-yr old doesnt want to go there anymore. I have been trying to get my child to go, but she refuses. Due to my health conditions, and travel reasons we have accumulated quite a few 'makeup' classes, which has to be used only when you are registered member (ie., paying that month's tuition, thus accruing more classes). These classes that you already paid for, can only be used if you are a continuing member? I want to just use my accumulated classes (which i already paid for), and not continue to accrue anymore but that cannot be accommodated by the facility. I am just asking them to let me use up the classes that i already paid for, and not accumulate anymore, but they could care less. I would not take my child back there, even if she is interested in gymnastics in future.

I signed my little one up for the 3rd week for summer camp and never received a discount. While visiting the school I observed kids throwing each other around and not one supervisor was near the students, instead they were on the other side of the gym sitting on the couch. I feel that they need to supervise the children better, if my child needed to use the restroom, she would come and go as she pleased with no one questioning her (kids could use the restroom and stay for hours without anyone going to check on them). I spoke with the Manager about the situation and I got the feeling that she wasn't taking into consideration my concerns, this is the second day in a row that my daughter wasn't told to bring her swimsuit and was told that the brochures that said to bring it were up at the front desk for anyone to take. while picking up my daughter no one told me either. Instead I was told that it would be ok for her to swim in her undergarments, which is unacceptable. Speaking with the manager. This place is the most unorganized, unsafe and only care about the dollar. I could literally walk into this place of business and walk out with someone else's child without being questioned.

If you were thinking of getting dance lessons for your child, this is NOT the place. No accredited teachers. Take it from my experience, you will NOT get what you paid for and no amends will be made from management or owner. Greedy establishment. Look elsewhere, plenty of other dance schools and gyms for that matter.

1st time registering my child and visiting the facility. The lady who helped me was very dry and unwelcoming. Basically went through the process like I was just statistics. I did not feel at home at all for a 1st time attendee. Made me wonder how the actual instructor was going to be.

I really wanted to like this place as it is in a great location and the staff is always friendly .
Unfortunately they were not challenging my daughter enough to where she started getting bored. We had to transfer to Birons. It is quite a drive for us but I can tell you there is a big difference In the levels and how much they challenge them. My daughter really likes it. We still do the parents day out at Westwood gymnastics and she likes those.

Good place overall, kids enjoy it but areas for improvement. As a parent that doesn’t always bring the kids in for their classes, it would help if the staff called for the start of the class loudly and clearly. They just tend to stand around with their clip boards and chit chat amongst themselves. Teenagers for the most part and perfectly understandable not to be the most organized but would expect management to provide adequate direction and training. Have also noticed some classes start late land finish early. As a for profit establishment, I find this practice wrong and no different than stealing. Again, improved training would go a long way.

Nice and clean. I took my daughter to try this place out and she really liked it. My only complaint, and the reason why I needed up taking her somewhere else is because theyre not competitive and not under USAG. But if you're trying to have your child be active without plans of competing in the future, then I'd choose Westwood. Everyone is amazingly nice and knowledgeable.
