My grandson joined the summer day camp when school let out. We wanted him to enjoy his summer with fun and also make new friends. It was only from 9 am to 1 pm and he really loved going too. This week a couple of the employees that take the kids to the pool, I guess had a bad day. My grandson says that two other kids were not behaving in the pool. The male employee told the kids that if they weren't going to behave everyone was going to get out. He said that they were pushing his buttons. So they took them out of the pool. My grandson, I guess felt threatened by this and when he was picked up says he did not want to go back. My husband went and tried to talk to the manager/ supervisor and was told he would call him back. When my husband was called back he only offered credit for other services there at the Y. This is not the military don't punish all only the ones that don't behave.

Do not bring you family members here if they have special needs!! They do not accommodate for someone with special needs. They will not allow you to accompany someone who wants to work out that has special needs in this case Down syndrome.

Great staff, always something with the outside pool closed due to rain the night before, lightning 4 or 5 miles away, fire drills every other week. I joined July 17th 2024 used weight room for 2 days it's been closed since 7-19-2024 due to ceiling falling in.

If you’re going to take your child to get taught how to swim, DO NOT take classes with Halle. She’s unfortunately far from a “teacher”, doesn’t pay much attention to your child, is very concerned with her own swim cap, loves to leave your child unattended while she swims underwater, has inappropriate conversations with other instructors about what she saw on FB and has no set structure to learning how to swim. Don’t expect to get greeted on the first visit or have your child get greeted and spoken to about what is about to occur. It was an absolute nightmare. Didn’t even finish the entire course as that’s how frustrating and dangerous it was. Stay away.

I had a horrible experience. On Thursday, July 15, 2021. A young women lock me in on YWCA Barlett (79912) with my two little ones. I had to use the non-emergency door thru the playground and used some random door luckily. Thankfully was unlock and I was able to get out of the building. This was about 8:10 pm

I have attended here for a few years and have noticed a decline in services offered to paying members. Pool hours were recently decreased to late afternoon and no morning option for swimming laps outdoors. Classes are cancelled without notice to members which is a huge inconvenience. The feeling is like the members experience is not important or does it matter.

Desiree gave us a great tour today. We were very pleased with what the facility has to offer. When we returned to the front desk we also met Kevin. Both Desiree and Kevin were very professional and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyable fitness activities. One suggestion. Consider opening the indoor pool for a couple if hours a week for swimming, especially in the winter

I have enjoyed water aerobics @ this YWCA for many years. Great staff, clean, friendly participants & decent facility. The outdoor pool is quite nice, when it's open. The indoor pool, while small works well for classes of 10 or less.

Recently visited some family but wanted to keep up with my New Year’s resolution. I showed up with a friend for a free trial and was surprised at how friendly everyone was! The facilities looked like they had been sanitized by staff often which made me feel much better about being there. The manager greeted my friend and I, as well as the other members there. If I lived in El Paso id definitely attend this location more!

Recently moved to San Antonio and miss this location terribly. I was always greeted properly and enjoyed the atmosphere. Desiree is a wonderful manager and always handled any issues I had with such professionalism and grace. Would highly recommend coming to this location!!

Gym was nice and clean. Feel better working out here during pandemic than at planet fitness like I was before. Staff is very friendly. The manager very friendly and answered any questions I had. Overall really enjoyed this place and will continuing going!

Signed up for a new membership three weeks ago. Came to Zumba three times and signed in. Today I got turned away because they failed to inform me that I was supposed to be registering ahead of time. I drove all the way from Las Cruces. The woman on the phone was rude and caddy. First time in my life that I have ever been turned away from an exercise class.

The swim lessons were mediocre our private swim coach Sarah gave me the impression she hadn't worked with children. We purchased 4 swim lessons and 3 swim lessons later we were told Sarah was in the hospital. One rainy day 2 weeks later Sarah called the indoor pool was closed due to the rain. Never hear back from anyone at the YMCA. Don't waste your money or time at this YMCA. I email the director and nobody called. Buyer beware!!!

I purchased the summer membership specifically for the pool I have 4 kids and we were looking forward to swimming all summer long. Unfortunately the YWCA decided to change their hours for the month of August which was completely unfair because we were told and given a schedule that specified the pool hours and the dates would be 6/1-8/31, 12pm-3pm & 4pm-7pm M-F and they changed that without notice, my kids and I just showed up one day during the first week of August and were turned away due to the pool hours being changed to 5pm-7pm. Very disappointing considering my kids didn't start school until the end of August.

Purchased a $99 summer special in mid June. The agreement was use of pool and facilities thru the end of August. I arrived with 3 children excited to swim today....and was told pool was closed for the summer. This facility changed pool hours in early August to 5 to 7pm....several times we arrived to be told pool was closed "because we dont have a lifeguard"...
My children barely returned to school 4 days ago (on Aug 27)yet for the better part of this month the "new pool hours" where NOT something we expected nor could utilize.
Two hours M thru Th evenings only...really!?!?
And while I am still ranting....the pool was probably never cleaned out the entire summer...full of sand..and broken off pieces of tile began to accumulate along side the pool. I guess all they ever checked were chemical levels.
Shame on you YWCA....I am disappointed that the multiple donations I have made to this organization at the YWCA luncheons have NOT been put to good use.

I do not recommend this daycare. The 2's and 3's are let outside to explore on their own. The teacher just stood at the door not even realizing the kids were on the side of the building by themselves. The 4's and 5's have no order, no structure. They just hang around, run around and have no sense of authority. My son was in the baby room and both times I went to pick him up he was sitting crying alone despite there were two teachers in the room and only one other baby. This is not a real daycare.
