I used to belong to a VERY expensive boutique exercise studio until I decided I just needed more variety. What a blessing it has been to be a member of 24 Hour Fitness- I love the classes. It really shows that the management cares about the gym and their patrons and understand what it means to defy the usual "gym culture".

Still not open. I’ve been going here for years and it’s good when available. But no access gets a failing grade when all the other gyms are open. Lack of exercise is a health concern.

This is a pretty strong gym. They have great parking and great equipment. Spa, sauna, pool, and steam room are usually in good condition.
Staff members are friendly and professional.
Like all Utah 24s, they go overboard with the cardio equipment.

Tried to give this place a chance but the facility is gross, machines are poorly maintained and don't even get me started with the neglect in child care. Do your self a favor and spend your money elsewhere.

I was kicked out of this place and treated poorly. One staff member chose to call the cops and have a cop stalk me for living in my van. Discriminatory practices is not something i appreciate

Called corporate to complain about issues at club, after some resolution they offered me 30% off to remain a member. 2 days later, I followed up with staff at another location and they informed me that the general manager had cancelled my membership which would result in a early termination fee. I was crystal clear that I did NOT want to cancel my membership after being offered reduced monthly fees. Instead of calling me to follow up, I guess the easier solution was to cancel my membership. This isn’t how you do business, it’s well worth the drive to just go to the much cleaner and well managed Murray location.

There’s always something not working, not clean or closed. Last days of January no soap and first week of February 2020 no hot water. I can bring my own soap but hot water?

Probably should clarify 3 day pass is only for locals and a drop in fee is 20 dollars? Nah, I'll pocket that money and buy my own cheap commercial equipment

Clean gym with great staff, but it has become quite crowded since the closing of the Trolly Square location. You have to pick your times carefully or you'll be waiting for equipment/getting close and cozy with some sweaty strangers. Going later in the evening (9-10 PM) works well. Just wish I didn't have to plan my day around the crowds.

TERRIBLE GYM!!!!
It is ALWAYS packed. Parking is impossible. Many of the machines are old and often don't even work... not that you'll be able to use them since every piece of equipment is always in use.

5 stars for the manger Alexis, she's lovely and helped me out a lot. After like two months of kind of BS, and lack of communication between lots of different staff member. Alexis the manger was amazing.

Staff is incredibly nice, but machines take forever (3-6 months) to be fixed. Maybe the staff isn't reporting it to management when I tell the front desk. Thinking about Vasa if they have better maintenance

It's an OK gym but it is kinda gross, they need to do a better job of cleaning. I go here now that the Trolley location has closed but I really don't like it at all. The front end staff don't really pay much attention to anything but their phones.

We came from out of town and tried to use the 3 day pass. Apparently you have to be a Utah resident to use that? That wasn't listed anywhere when we signed up. Then, we had to pay $20/person to use the gym for a day. The equipment was old and not in good condition. The gym was very crowded and cramped which made it hard to workout. We will not be returning to this location when we come back to Salt Lake.

I transferred to this center from Trolley Square over a year ago and enjoy it. The staff is very friendly. The only complaint that I have is the staff at the desk is more concerned with their phones than greeting/saying goodbye customers or talking with each other there has been times that I have been totally ignored. It would be nice to feel welcomed.

Hispanic short girl working Saturday night 11:38 is soooooo rude and unprofessional. Snapping at me and others “You can’t buy a drink! It’s closed!!!!” Like totally that girl that thinks everyone is stupid... I’ve had the people at the airport that scream at you to take everything out of your pockets be more professional... also, she was laying on the floor. Also, lock the refrigerators like every other 24 hour fitness.

This is Gail Liese writing this review, although I believe I can vouch for my husband that he feels the same. I have been working with Personal Trainer Matt Stahl for going on three years now. I can't say enough about how good he is. He stays current on research regarding working out AND nutrition. He is encouraging and keeps me motivated. I have more confidence not only in the gym, but also in other areas of my life because of him.
The current club manager, Susan, is doing an unbelievable job. Earlier this year, I spoke to her about the condition of the basketball court floors which were quite dirty. She apologized and explained they were having difficulties with cleaning people. That very day, Susan cleaned the entire floor herself, which must have taken her at least two hours!!!!! She constantly leads her staff by example. I have always loved this gym for its diversity, solid class instructors, and friendly clientele, but Susan has really improved the atmosphere! It is cleaner, and the front desk staff are wonderful, in particular, Erin and Skyler who always greet me by name and have great people skills. I'm retired and plan my days around my gym time. I spend a lot of time here and I love it!!!!

Skyler is one of the nicest dudes on the planet! Just walking into the gym everyday- even if it was a hard day or I’m feeling kinda down- he always gives a huge shoutout and makes me feel so good for going!! The gyms pretty big and there’s 3 squat racks so it’s rarely a wait to lift. Tons of treadmills and cable machines too. It’s a little pricier than vasa or planet fitness but the dudes behind the counter and the fewer people there working out at once more than make up for it!

I signed up for my membership back in August of 2017 and it truly was one of the best things I could have done. The team members that work here are some of the most, if not the most, friendly individuals I have ever encountered in a gym setting. I have been to different gyms in years' past where everyone from the front staff to the trainers could really care less about you as a person; that has never happened to me at this location.
I was nervous about starting to work out back in 2017 and decided to invest in some training sessions. The very first session with my trainer had such a positive impact on me that I knew I was going to come back and that this time, FINALLY, I would stick with working out and make it a part of my life. He treated me, still treats me, as a friend and not just "another client". I see other gym members working out with the other trainers at this gym and I see them treat those they are training with that same friendly attitude and are invested in that persons' well being and progress.
I love this location, not just because it is close to where I live, but to be 100% honest, it is because of the team members that work there. As I said above, they are some of the most friendly, even at 6 in the morning. I am always greeted with a smile and "Have a great workout" or "What are you working on today?".
I know there are complaints about some of the equipment there, but personally I do not understand why. About a year ago they got new cardio machines, which I still love to this day. As far as weight machines, free weight's, etc. I don't see an issue with any of them. When things break down, which come one people it happens, they address the issue as soon as possible. I read some other posts where there were complaints that free weights weren't re-racked; all I have to say about that is there are signs asking members to re-rack their weights when they are finished so people need to take ownership of that.
I will keep coming back to this location because I truly do feel welcome when I step through the front doors. Thank you for helping me live my best possible life!!

EDIT: 2/11/19 1:52 PM Susan, the location manager, called me in regards to my review I posted earlier today. Somebody give this lady a raise. She spoke with me about her same concerns for the cleanliness of the gym and what she's doing as the new manager to resolve the issue. The cleaning crew is outsourced by the corporate office and they are the source for the uncleanliness and she's working hard on bringing it to the corporate manager's attention.
I feel better knowing that there is someone like Susan who cares about the satisfaction of her customers. I am thankful that she reached out, as I now feel like my concerns and disappointment was taken seriously and changes are going to be made.
I look forward to continuing to go to this facility and see the changes that Susan is working hard on making.
-----------------------------------------------
2/11/2019 12:00 PM Wish I would have stayed at Planet Fitness. This facility is disgusting, outdated, unkempt and uncleanly. I signed up in December, have already been charged $200 for annual fees, initial fees, etc., and after a month being here I have realized I made a horrible mistake. I called to see what my options are for canceling my membership because I'm so disgusted with the level of cleanliness of this facility and they told me that to cancel my membership, it would cost $290 for the remainder of the 1 yr contract that I signed.
Wish I could go back in time. I'm so disappointed in this gym. If they cleaned and maintained their equipment and bathrooms, I would feel so much better but for now, every time I get in the pool or drink from the water fountain, I am reminded that this facility has been rotting for 20 years.

I have been trying to cancel with this gym for the last month. The first time I called, I was told a manager would get back to me and call me back to confirm cancellation. 3 weeks passed and no call, so I called again. The guy said that they were undergoing new management and they were backed up with cancellations so it would take awhile, but assured me that if I was charged an extra month, I would be refunded. I waited and checked my statement for the month, and sure enough I was charged. I called them and got a manager and the manager said she couldn't refund me and that they have no record of me calling at all.

The place seems like it’s getting worse by the day. The staff doesn’t say hello to you when you walk in they are usually just on their phones. No weights get put away and a lot of the equipment is barley usable. The only reason I still go is because it’s close to my house but I might change if it gets any worse.

I’ve been going to 24hr for years. All locations have a decent variety and selection of equipment and machines. The actual facilities are way overdue for some renovations. There’s random holes in the walls, leaky ceilings, and old bathrooms. The water fountains all have a good crusty build up of mineral deposits. No one really wipes down equipment so my hands are always gross after lifting but, whatever. And I did once see a guy clipping his toenails INTO THE POOL!!! Also, I’m pretty sure it took them until 2018 to get WiFi....The location in Sugarhouse DEDPERATELY needs to increase the lighting in the parking lot and encourage staff to do the rounds every once and a while. My car was vandalized here and I often see broken glass in the parking lot (park in the garage, if you can fit (6’ limit) and have ninja driving skills for tight spaces.
Still, I like this gym for its hours (no pun intended), because I don’t like to workout when it’s busy. It’s fine for the person looking for an affordable gym with a selection of classes and workout options. Staff is always nice and the shop has decent stuff.
Hey 24. Stop buying new treadmills and do some facility improvements already.

If I could give 2.5 stars, I would. This particular facility has a full gymnasium, spin room, additional space for classes or exercises that require a bit more space. It also has a lap pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Generally these facilities are clean. There have been times that I've used the steam room/sauna during which I've had men uncomfortably stare at me which the facility can't be blamed for, but it does no negate the experience and reluctance to use these amenities. I've never felt unsafe per se, but it certainly has made what was intended to be relaxing... Not so relaxing. There was another time that someone was "Hocking lewgies" (sp?) in the sauna which was a bit disturbing... Again more of a patron issue than management issue. Lastly, I partially joined 24 hour fitness because of it's national distribution, so that I can use my membership out of town; however, more and more clubs are adding designations like 24 hour fitness "super sport" which do not honor your membership from this facility and require a $30 day fee despite it's affiliation.

I only use the gym for the classes, which are pretty good. Most teachers offer up modifications for lower or higher intensity. They also use a microphone if the class is higher energy. I definitely like the classes and the times.
The staff is really nice and super helpful all the times I've asked for assistance.
The floor in the studio could use a good dusting and a damp mop more frequently during the day. It gets dirty with people coming in straight from the street to the studio. They should also consider getting real yoga mats instead of the short multipurpose fitness pads.
Parking in the lower level is kinda dark and creepy so I never park down there. The stairwell isn't well marked either. I didn't see an elevator from the garage to the main floor.

It is a good solid gym however they need to stay with the trends and switch out some of the dated (over 10 years of) cardio equipment with racks. They only have 3 free weight flat benches, could use 2 more. The music is horrific unless you are into techno-european-rave type music. They have been looping the same lame play list for years now. If you work there and you are reading this please don't get all butt hurt over it. Listening to your customers is how you improve.

I have been loving this gym since my fiancé and I signed up a little over two months ago. It’s convenient as we live close by, and we love the atmosphere of it. The front desk people are extremely friendly and helpful. The equipment is a tad old, but still useful and we love it. We take our one year old with us to the daycare (Kidsclub) and never have had an issue with it until tonight. Hence the 3 stars. We love everyone we have met so far that works in the daycare and they now know our daughter. But when we came in to check her out today, we noticed that she was nowhere to be seen. So we asked where she was, and the two girls working, TWO, were looking around for her. My fiancé then spotted her over the desk. As a previous daycare provider, I am not okay with what we saw and how our daughter was not being watched. There was two girls in there and maybe 6 other children and she was the only baby in there. The daycare needs to be more observant and actually hire people who will do their job of watching children instead of watching the tv.

This 24 is always super busy, unless you go real late at night or super early in the morning. It's clean and has plenty of lockers. Make sure you show up early to some classes in order to get a spot since they are almost always full and have people setting up for their million friends who aren't even there or show up late. Parking sucks since it's right next to the liquor store and several other stores so it's usually pretty packed. Overall, it's okay.

Sport Club level. Facility is clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly. This gym offers a good variety of equipment and classes. One of the few gyms in which the equipment is consistently reracked and easy to find. Other amenities include a lap pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna.

My favorite gym. Has a lot of charm for a 24 Hour Fitness and across the street from a park which helps for dog owners

I've been working out at this location off and on for over ten years and have never worked out at a better maintained gym. All new exercise bikes were put in a few weeks ago, and just last week I was noticing how clean the men's locker room smelled. The staff couldn't be any friendlier and all of their huge TVs are perfect. Parking . . . are you kidding! No better parking anywhere in SLC. Front parking lot, large underground parking, and even 24 hr fitness parking just across the street. I have to wonder about the negative reviews . . . hmmmmm

The equipment's a little outdated. They need to hire a full-time custodian to take care of some of the problems and the roof leaks. That being said I love the people who go there really friendly and nice.

Over all it's a pretty good gym I just feel like it should have lil bit more equipment and it should be open on holidays a lil bit longer instead of being closed down cuz it is suppose to be a 24 hour gym

The gym is nice because it offers a large pool, Sonic, steam room, and hot tub. However the condition of the building seems to be run down and the locker rooms are not well kept and run down also. The work out floor has a wide variety of machines and free weights.

We did the 3 day free intro offer. Huge facility, lots of machines, but it's usually packed. There's a pool, hot tub, dry sauna, and steam room, which is fantastic and I'm not sure any other facilities in the area offer as much for the price point. They also offer dozens of classes from yoga to pilates. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews online, but it sure doesn't seem to matter because of the sheer amount of people that frequent this place. We probably would have got a membership here, but my gf and I both prefer hot yoga at Bikram SLC.

They pretend like they are cool here and don't pressure you into memberships, but it's not much different from anywhere else. This gym is overpriced. The actual gym itself is not high quality. The equipment is ok. The staff is friendly, that is the only good thing.
I signed up for $30 dollars a month for a BASIC membership which is already a lot. And then they charge you an annual fee of $50 a year OUT OF NOWHERE I WASNT TOLD IT WAS BEING WITHDRAWN FROM MY ACCOUNT. And That I swear they must have said it under their breath, because I would have never signed up had I heard that.
I would just like a gym that doesn't pressure me and doesn't over charge me. And doesn't trick me.
I just want to lift weights and run on the treadmill. Help...

I have been going to this specific location for probably 5 years now... I'm amazed that I've lasted this long. First off, the staff... lol most of them are very rude and have a serios attitude problem. they are unhelpful and act like they are better than you. I find this hypocritical considering most of the trainers and staff at this location are out of shape... secondly the amenities and equpment. What a joke... seriously, most of the equipment at this location is old and falling apart. Well below the standards set by other gyms. The worst thing about this location specifically which I have never experienced at any of the other 24 hour fitness gyms in the valley is the appalling pig stye they call a locker room. IT CONSTANTLY SMELLS OF STRONG URINE AND AMONIA! Since the day I started going to this gym the smell has been overwhelming. The toilets are usually covered in urine and or feces and unusable. On a side note the lockers are old and I absolutely do not feel safe storing anything of importance or value inside of them. I strongly urge ANYONE considering getting a membership at this gym to think twice! There are plenty of other options out there.

Just joined last week, good to get a change of scenery especially with this Vasa Renaissance going on. Came to this gym in 2001, sometimes you have startover again and go back to the basics good customer service from workers there.

This gym does have good size and a decent selection of good classes. Keri has a great yoga class going as well. The LGBT comments are very strange ....I have no idea why this would even be an issue.
You will want to use the rest room before coming and dust bunnies galore in the group fitness. No much cleaning going on. The equipment and bikes are ancient and often don't work. UPDATE NEW BIKES enhanced my rating based on new bikes which were sorely needed. Room for improvement still in terms of the building.

Very bad service. Canceled my membership in May of last year. They just suspended it and then continued billing for at least five months. I went in to cancel a second time. They refunded just two months. And now I find out they are still billing me again

Isaiah the manager was super helpful and helped sign me up. It was definitely a lot easier than most gyms. A gym is a gym is a gym...but this one has a full deadlift platform which is nice and trx system. I enjoy going here. Don't listen to the negative comments previous...

Racial discrimination and profiling 1st time visit...Traveling from California, I knw I wud experience some discomfort but never did I think a 24hr fitness representative would suggest my transition in the area was difficult due to an increase of Caucasians In the area. I was shocked to receive the response I was given. I told him my son's half white, his mothers white, ethnicity has nothing to do with my adaptation to the area! Wow way to go for first impressions 24hr fitness of Salt Lake City!...gym equipment was ok, happy the showers have curtains.

I've been to a lot of 24hr fitness locations as I've traveled across the west....and this was the worst that I've seen.
Gross showers/sauna/lockerrooms. Dark and dingy looking everything. Mold growing on the ceiling tiles. Would be a depressing place to work out at all the time. Desperately needs an update, or for someone working there to actually care.

I got a three day pass to use and showed up at 5:40am to meet my friends to workout. I was told that they couldn't let me in because I wasn't a member and that I would have to wait until 6am. At a 24 HOUR FITNESS. What part of 24 HOUR was supposed to indicate that I couldn't work out until 6am. There was NOTHING on the pass that said it couldn't be activated from 10pm-6am. I asked if I could do cardio for 20 mins and then come back to check-in and he said no. He said I could sit and wait. Seriously? I told him there was no indication that the pass couldn't be used and that I had gotten up at 5:15 to use their gym (not a small sacrifice for me) and he still said no. I told him that was terrible customer service and he just said that was the "policy." So, here I am. Sitting in my car. Alone. At 5:50am. While my friends are inside. I am zero minutes into this 3 day pass and I can already assure you that I will not be a member at 24 hour fitness any time soon.

Gym is a POS. Equipment is all broken and missing parts. Took them over a week to replace a fluorescent bulb above the cable machines so that people can see. Gym is dirty. There are copious amounts of black mold in the men's locker room including on the shower curtains, just right there hanging out colonizing the shower room unopposed. Cleaning crew has been cut, the place literally feels like it's going under. Been working out here for 6 years. Feels like whoever owns the place is flat broke and has quit maintaining it. It's like a water park in there when it rains. If the health department came tomorrow, the place would be shut down. Used to be a great facility but has drastically changed due to horrible management. Staff are focused on selling memberships instead of protecting their member's respiratory health by removing the toxic mold from the shower rooms, evidenced by the fact it's been there for months. Black mold everywhere and no one doing anything about it? They know about it, and not even a notice that there are toxic mold spores in the locker room and my respiratory health is in jeopardy? That's criminal negligence.

24-Hour is one of the few affordable, real gyms in downtown. However, this facility is grungy, and generally dirty. But it gets the job done for those who don't wish to travel to a Vasa.

Definitely overpriced. It is a very small facility making it very very crowded, and parking sucks. The male locker room is unrealistically dirty and filled with naked old dudes all the time. They also rearrange the equipment way too frequently, it is quite annoying.
On the bright side, it has a very prime and convenient location. Also there is a decent mix of gym goers, not what you would expect from the typical VASA/Golds meathead gym.

I was honestly a little nervous about this place after reading some of these reviews. I went in for a tour to see for myself. They seem to have really stepped up their game on cleanliness. The pool looked and smelled clean (no oil/film on the surface, the water was clear and smelled only like chlorinated water) and the manager told me they check the PH every 2 hours. The machines looked clean and the manager also told me they were fully wiped down and cleaned twice a day. I looked at the machines and I only saw one with an out-of-order sign. They may not be the most cutting-edge and some places are still covered in 80s pastels but as far as having a clean, serviceable gym nearby I found them to be perfect for what I need.
Edit: Some background- I was looking to join this gym for late-night pool use, light dry-land training and the occasional class with a couple of coworkers. I took my tour around noon on a Wednesday and even then I saw a good mix of people from your usual gym-rat/fitness-ad-models to college kids to soccer moms to the elderly so I never felt like I didn't belong or was going to be looked down upon. I don't know about roof-leakage or what it's like in the summer, so I'll have to see how that goes. But otherwise I look forward to working out here in the future.

As a straight male, I have no idea where the complaints about LGBT community members are coming from. I have worked out at this gym for 2 years and have never been harassed or witnessed harassment. Behavior here is no different than any other gym I've seen.
From the perspective of someone who doesn't use the cardio equipment much:
Pros: Friendly staff (again, not sure where the naysayers are coming from, I've never had a bad interaction with them). Very conveniently located - 3 mins off I-80. Even when crowded, there is enough variety of equipment and weights that I usually don't feel the need to wait for something to free up.
Cons: Smallish and very crowded 4-7pm. The men's bathroom feels claustrophobic and the stalls can get pretty gross. The roof leaks when snow is melting and the buckets they set out to catch water are pretty ghetto. Not sure I would use the hot tub here as I see people of dubious hygiene in it regularly, though that is probably true of most public hot tubs.
