Quality equipment and not crowded at the times I went. Great gym for those serious about getting stronger/healthier. A lot of competitive powerlifters here and trainers who can help you achieve your goals. Might seem intimidating if you’re coming from a commercial gym but well worth it. The community is helpful and it’s motivating to see everyone so dedicated.

Awesome gym. Easily my favorite in the salt lake area! Great gym if you are a serious lifter but also very friendly and welcoming for beginners and those just starting. Never used the service but plenty of personal trainer availability if you are interested in that. Usually not too busy and it’s open 24/7 which is a huge plus. If you are sick of the giant corporate gyms or just want to try something a bit more local, this is the gym for you. Really bummed when I moved away and could no longer use the facility. 10/10 highly recommend!

This has been the best gym I have been to since I moved here to Utah 3 years ago and I am sad to leave it. I wish I had found them sooner I would be even further along. The functional equipment is so good, the range of kettlebells is unparalleled and I will probably continue to come back on day passes from time to time because they are that good. The turf upstairs with the sleds has literally given me the ability to rehab my knees and allowed me to make them even stronger. I've set some of the most impressive PRs in my life here at this gym.

From a convenient drop-in registration to an extensive (but not overwhelming) array of equipment, Big Mountain Barbell is a friendly local strength gym only 15min from Salt Lake City. With every piece of equipment you could need and a well-spaced layout, the gym provides a welcoming experience for any short-term to long-term visit. Clean, diverse, and easily accessible, I have no complaints, just what I needed as I passed through Utah.

As a life long exerciser - I'm happy to say Big Mountain Barbell is the best overall gym experience I've had. The gym is very clean and equipment is well maintained. The private gym experience is also really nice - they gym is never crowned and you often see the same "regulars" day in and day out. Everyone is very friendly and the gym has an incredible amount of weight. I gained more strength during my time at this gym than any other gym I've been a part of. Highly recommend Big Mountain.

Hands down the best gym that I have ever trained in. Been a member for about two years. Spa is always working. Everyone is friendly. It’s a very welcoming gym where there is never a wait or inability to access your training station. This gym is a power lifter and bodybuilders paradise but it’s also very welcoming to the average Joe and beginner. There are no big egos here.

This is honestly the best gym me and my wife have been too in the valley. The staff as well as members are very helpful, the members have good gym etiquette, it's not overly packed, there's awesome professional equipment, and everyone there shows respect to one another as well as the gym itself. The people there actually care about working out and self improvement. They have a ton of resources for you to improve your physical health. The prices are fair, and way better than these big overly crowded commercial gyms.
Love Big Mountain Barbell

And there was no wait to move from one rack to the next in my lifts. I met a couple great guys. Visiting from Alaska and decided to check out a local gym!
First and foremost - THERE IS AN UPSTAIRS. You can’t miss it, yet somehow I did. I modified my workout because I didn’t see any cable machines. As I was looking around for cardio equipment, that’s when I saw the stairs that led to a medley of other equipment - including the cardio equipment.
It’s not the largest gym I’ve been to. The lower half is sort of cramped and could easily become crowded during heavy traffic hours. Upstairs was a little bit better in this regard, but still.
The day pass wasn’t unreasonable at $20. It was easy to get one, as well. The monthly rate seemed a little high to me at $79 but I’m unfamiliar with the area, so maybe that’s not a fair assessment.
I got a shirt that came in purple (my favorite color) which was a win, and the complimentary theraguns by the door are a nice touch.
I like bodybuilding/powerlifting gyms; I go to one at home. I don’t know if this one would be the gym for me, though.
Knocking the a star off because I’m not a huge fan of the peloton treadmills in there (a pearl clutching statement, I know) and the Spotify slander on the wall next to the tablet for music selection. I take that personally.

If you're looking for a powerlifting/Olympic weightlifting gym that's under $100, look no further! BMB has 4 weightlifting platforms, 4 deadlift platforms, 4 combo racks, and more specialty bars than I needed! Also, upstairs has some AstroTurf you push & pull a sled (no more using winter as an excuse 🥲), dumbbells, machines, cardio equipment, and more racks! If you don't know where to start, there's plenty of great coaches that work out of this gym whether your goal is general fitness or hitting that next PR on the platform!! Highly recommend this gym to anyone in search of a new gym!

I’ve been in here one time about a month ago and was very very impressed especially with someone who has been in the gym their entire life. I started upstairs and I loved the entire deck and I feel like what I am looking for my power work outs was all at my hand too. I utilize this gym every so often because I go to PF full time because of their tanning and other amenities included.
Nonetheless, I use this gym on Sunday’s usually. The only thing I wish this gym had was a vending machine with water bottles and protein shakes as I always forget to pack mine lol. Zac and Lynndsey are awesome people!

The gym is overpriced, small and cramped, and dingy. Despite that, I would have paid for a membership because I like that they have olympic platforms (which are fairly hard to come by in a gym), however, Big Mountain Barbell is closing for a week (June 28-July 5, 2021) and they refuse to pro-rate the membership fee. I would be irate if I were a member and I was being charged for a weeks' worth of overpriced membership when I am being barred from using the facility during that time. Seems very dishonest and unethical.

Feels like a fitness community. No judgement at all. This completely different than VASA, Planet Fitness this a legitimate community who focuses on helping each other.
You're probably asking why I'm not a member, the only reason I'm not is because I live so far...Herriman. This would be a 30 minute drive for me everyday BUT I am considering on converting to the best gym I ever gone to.

This is my favorite gym in the valley. I have been a member at Lifetime, Xcel, Vasa, and Planet fitness. This gym has the most welcoming environment hands down. No one walks around wanting you to notice them or trying to critique you. Everyone can belong. Besides the environment the equipment is above and beyond anything else you will find - every type of lifting bar, belts wrist wraps, massage guns... all there free to use. I’m in the ladies lifting club and love it so much. All the ladies are kind and welcoming, and the coaches have extraordinary knowledge. I did CrossFit for years at different gyms and personally like the exercises, knowledge, and team feelings of ladies lift club much better 10 out of 10 recommend you just come see what this place is about.

Big Mountain Barbell was the best gym choice I could’ve made when moving to Utah. I signed up for a month to month contract in hopes of not living in Utah very long, however, on my drive to the gym one day, I drove past a company that looked intriguing. I decided to apply for a job and ended up in what is now my career path! I messaged the owner of Big Mountain Barbell with the good news, asking for a year to year contract and he replied telling me that he’s also a realtor! Now we’re currently looking to buy a home for me and he’s been the most helpful ever! Everything seemed to fall into place so easily and perfectly for me as soon as I joined this gym! I was immediately greeted by Lindsay and Zac and welcomed to the spacious gym by their message and actions of inclusiveness. I am fairly new to the the fitness world and the energy and resources at BMB allows me to grow and gain. Everyone there is always willing to answer my questions (even the dumb ones lol) and help out. Hands down my favorite gym in the State! First impression- clean, spacious, lots of well maintained and high end equipment, and people who know what they are doing in a gym. This was intimidating to me coming from the Planet Fitness world but I soon found every member was kind, eager to help, and incredibly welcoming. Their coaches were able to tailor a training and nutrition program that worked for me with ZERO prior athleticism and a truly dysfunctional relationship with food. I’ve made life long friends, put on lots of muscle, lost fat (25 lbs!), and found a sport I absolutely love. Props to the way they handled Covid-19, I was so happy to have the ability to rent equipment for home use by continuing my membership dues during state mandated closure. I’ve been able to continue training at home during the quarantine with the support of the owners and the free programming they offered members.

Beautiful facility, as a busy working mom I can appreciate an accesible clean gym facility.
Big Mountain has allowed me to stay on top of my workouts, juggling kids out of school during COVID times has been a challenge. Big Mountain not only offers access to top of the line equipment but also has a wonderful kid space, my children enjoy the quiet and clean play area.
I think it’s fairly priced, the environment is very professional and friendly and the hours of operation can fit anyone’s schedule. I highly recommend ❤️

Best Gym In The Valley!!
Love working out at Big Mountain Barbel. The super knowledgable owners and trainers of this gym truly care about their members and it shows. They are constantly updating the equipment and delivering the very best. 20+ squat racks? Unheard of.
I was initially intimidated by the impressive powerlifters that call BMB home, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. The community here is so welcoming and helpful to everyone from professional athletes to people who might be new to the gym. I've also been very impressed with the cleanliness of the gym. They are taking every precaution and I'm so glad I found a gym I can feel safe in, even during covid. Now more than ever, I feel good about supporting a small, local business vs a corporate conglomerate.

Since my first interaction with BMB in 2018, I've found a shared sense of comradry with the athletes, weight lifters and gym enthusiasts of all levels. Originally, I joined their Fitbliss program to learn how to build my strength, learn about nutrition, and how to holistically approach my health and fitness journey. Fast forward to 2020, and they are hands down the most hygenic and considerate gym in Utah. I'm proud that BMB is all accepting of all body types, people and prioritize our health.

BMB is a top tier gym. Not only do they have the a plethora of diverse equipment, they also have the best owners and community around. I would also like to point out their 20+ squat rack selection, you’ll never have to worry about waiting for a bar or rack. The sense of community in this gym is also note worthy. Members are all kind, respectful, and always willing to help each other out, and the owners are genuine and quick with their communication.
Highly, highly recommend this gym!

I’ve been at big mountain barbell for about 6 months now, and haven’t regretted coming here once. Having such great equipment that is almost always available is awesome. Even better in my mind though, is the culture. Great people, who aren’t there to be seen, but to work hard and achieve their goals.

I've been to many a gym. Never have I seen a gym with so many nice barbells and so much room for Olympic and power lifts. And a local business and family friendly. Just gotta watch out for the loud babies yelling to get out and get in on the lifting.

BMB is the best gym I've ever been a member of. The kindest, friendliest owners, trainers, and members. The best and most equipment you'll find anywhere, all well maintained and clean. And an environment and culture that encourages you to go hard and do your best.
You won't find any of the negative gym stereotypes here that you'll find at other other chain gyms. Let me put it this way: I get a free membership to a local chain gym from work, and I still pay out of pocket for a membership at BMB, because it's worth every penny.

There is definitely a community of lifters at this gym. The equipment is quality, clean, and lift specific. Close to freeway too!

The owners are an awesome couple who really care about the gym and all their customers/friends. And ladies definitely check out the women’s Fitbliss program, best thing I ever did!

Lynndsey and Zac have brought to the Salt Lake Valley a gym that cannot be rivaled. Sure, there are some decent gyms that specialize in bodybuilding, powerlifting, or weightlifting; but no gym around specializes in all three, like Big Mountain Barbell, and at such a high level. For the weightlifters, there are plenty of Eleiko and Rogue bars, Eleiko and Pendlay plates, pulling blocks, jerk blocks, squat stands, and 5 platforms to work with. For the powerlifters, there are multiple deadlift platforms, squat racks, benches, squat/bench combo racks, monolifts, pound and kilogram plates, and specialty bars to work with. People of all fitness backgrounds can enjoy the leg presses, glute ham raise, reverse hyper, cable machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, belt squat machine, sleds on the turf area, plyo boxes, sandbags, maces, Concept 2 rowers, assault bikes, and Peleton Treadmills. Finally, the atmosphere is perfect. No where else will you see beginners mingling with national level weightlifters, record holding powerlifters, national level bikini competitors, and great coaches that all show each other support.

This gym is awesome. The people, the facility, the atmosphere, everything about this place is amazing. Does not hold the hustle and bustle of a VASA or other commercial gym which is great. Everyone is willing to assist when needed and give pointers as well. Highly recommend this place.

I had been looking at this gym for about a year when my wife finally got me signed up because she was tired of me complaining every day about my then current big box gym getting too busy with the squat rack curlers. I was only hesitant because the drive is 3 times longer. Totally worth it. I quickly found out how legit this place is. So legit, I cannot quit, therefore I shall not quit.

Being a not naturally athletic human, in the past I’ve had a hard time feeling comfortable at gyms. Bad energy, not feeling like I belong, or men giving you creep vibes when you’re stretching. Never ONCE have I experienced any bad energy or vibes at Big Mountain Barbell.
Whether I’m doing one on ones with my amazing coach, Anneke; or in class with Meghan they give me the knowledge I need as a newer lifter to be able to master my lifts! After 8 months of coming here I’ve been able to grow so much thanks to my lovely coaches and peers at my gym!!
All the people at the gym love having other people here no matter your experience. I am so glad I found this gym and for the first time in my life, I’m honestly so excited to go to the gym! I highly recommend coming here and joining our lil fam bam.

Love this gym! So hard to find a spot for an Olympic weightlifter. Most places make me set up in a corner but not here! There’s plenty of room and nice equipment. You get spoiled here, makes it impossible to enjoy other gyms. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Best gym out there. It’s hard finding a gym that has great equipment (oly especially) for such a great price. Not only is the equipment top notch. The owners are great and very responsive. You can catch them in the gym lifting or are easy to contact via phone. Not to mention that it’s super clean, 24/7 and just a great work out environment.
Update: just ran through the mountains of new Zealand.... peloton treadmill.

I painstakingly researched gyms and visited several in the greater SLC area before enthusiastically choosing BMB after moving from out-of-state (and leaving a world class facility). Ample equipment for body building, power lifting, etc. There are also excellent facilities upstairs with an area of turf, sleds, kettlebells, plyo boxes, aerobic conditioning equipment (rowing machines & assault bikes etc). It's my jam. I get a lot of work done here to support my hobbies, so can you no matter your goals, sport, etc. Owners and coaches are all great. Culture is positive. Finally, it's affordable and BMB are always making improvements. Seamless transition from my former facilities to an outstanding gym.

I started working with the Fitbliss program at BMB a while ago and had a great experience! It is a very different atmosphere than other gyms I’ve been to, in the best ways! People within the Fitbliss program and others in the gym were so accepting, helpful, non judge mental, encouraging, friendly, motivating, friendly, & i could go on forever honestly! I saw almost immediate results by doing the guided exercises as well as with help from a coach with my nutrition! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Come for the gym session, stay for the community.
I love every part of Big Mountain. Top of the line equipment(seriously, the top top), great coaches, wonderful owners, but most importantly, the awesome gym community. Most gyms you will walk in, everyone puts their head down, headphones on, and never interact with anyone; that is not BMB. Walk in after a few weeks of being around and you will be greeted with smiling faces and friends. Bodybuilder, powerlifter, Olympic, CrossFit, or just trying to get in shape, Big Mountain will take good care of you.
