I came down to SLC to visit family and was concerned about having to fight commercial gyms while I was here. Discovered Butler back in July of this year and needless to say I was extremely impressed. I have since returned this month. Coming from a private gym in Seattle this one made my envy not living here. Perfect mix of newer equipment but keeping the gritty old school bodybuilder vibe. I was really impressed with the variations in machines for all different exercises. Equipment was well taken care of and provided a very positive experience. I look forward to coming to SLC just so i can come here and get a couple lifts in. Big thank you to the employees and owner for creating a fantastic gym.

This place is my second home. If I could, I would live here. I love the people, the machines and the atmosphere. It has been a huge part of my life and my bodybuilding journey! The only slight downside is the dirtiness of the space, but it only adds to the hardcore bodybuilder gym vibe. It’s my home!

This is one of the best gyms I’ve been nationwide,
The staff is super professional and respectful, friendly and kind.
This place is the MECCA OF THE GAINS in UTAH.
Great equipment, great Old Skool Gym, this is just a BADASS PLACE.
Trust me, I rather workout here than in a big commercial gym. Those are overrated, this is the gym for people who actually focus on their goals, mind their own business, know competition, and seek to be the best. That’s what I NEED to thrive.
Hands down, CHINGON!

A few things stand out about this place.
Commercial gyms have their place, I'm still keeping my membership to EOS, they are huge, have big amenities but come with some downsides, the crowds, the lack of specialized machines etc.
What I love about Butlers is the location. Working in Sugar House give me a few options, Vasa, a few MMA gyms, a few trainer specific gyms, but nothing great.
With Butler you can hop on the freeway and their location is like a few hundred yards from the freeway exit/entrance. Life saver.
The gym itself has everything you need and then some if you're serious about working out. They don't have a regular maintenance person like a commercial gym but the gear is legit and if you know what you're doing you'll be fine.
Price is great, I've been a member at another private gym in Sandy/Murray area that was $30 more per month, had less gear but did have bigger shower/locker area.
I'm giving these guys 5 stars because they've built something super cool, with a great vibe and I'm looking forward to using the gym regularly.
Only downside is that the bathroom/shower is super small which makes it hard to really 'shower off' the gym. I guess I'll have to embrace cold showers ;)

We had five hours to kill before our flight so I Googled “Bodybuilding Gyms in Salt Lake”. Once I saw this is where the pro’s drop in when in town I knew this was the spot. Hardcore gym vibe yet still very clean. All kinds of machines I haven’t seen at other gyms to mix it up. Awesome gym!

I was visiting from Phoenix and found this gym online. I travel often across the country for business and pleasure. This gym is easily in the top 1% of facilities I have trained at. To make it even better the gym is 24 hours and you can buy a pass online that will generate you a door code for instant access. I trained on Christmas at 4 am while all the other gyms were closed for customers. Unbelievable job on creating a best in class experience and facility!

I was just staying in Salt Lake City for a few days, and I got some day passes to work out here. I’m a bit out of place since I’m not a bodybuilder, but whatever, I have good calves and proper squat technique so I’m usually accepted even though I’m not super cut or big. Their day pass process was also really easy. You just go on their website, buy a pass, and get a code to type in at the door.
This place is a clean gym with a wide selection of machines, especially ones that aren’t found at most gym. Their pendulum squat in particular is amazing, and don’t be surprised if you’re a lot weaker than you expect on it (My high-bar squat max is 355 lb for 1 rep, and I only put 45 lbs on the machine, although it was for 10 reps). I also thought it was really cool that they had an assisted nordic curl machine, which I’ve only ever seen on the internet. There are also some glute machines that I’ve never seen before like standing hip thrusts, and a standing lunge machine which I’ve also never seen before. I went to a really big bodybuilding gym in San Diego that was probably 3 times as big as this place, and I still didn’t see these machines until I came here (the San Diego gym did have a pendulum squat, but I liked the one here more). There’s also a lot of old school machines that probably aren’t of interest to most people, but I got really into gym equipment during Covid lockdown so I thought they were cool to see, even though I didn’t use them. It’s kinda interesting to see how machines have changed over the years, and I’m sure they’re still effective. They have tons of attachments for cable machines like the Back Widow and a lot of different bar types in varying grip thickness. I loved how their chest press machines had knurled handles, and there were also some lat pulldown machines with twisting handles to help with getting the extra range of motion. They had dumbbells up to 180, maybe 200 lbs, which was a first in my personal experience. There are also of course all the standard machines that are found at commercial gyms along with some cardio machines. I would love to see some Prime Fitness machines, but I know how expensive they are along with their long wait time.
My only complaints about this place as a non-bodybuilder gym goer is that they don’t have a locker room (just 4 or 5 bathrooms, and some have showers in them), and there’s not an area to stretch and do mobility work. I made due since I either went at night or early morning so the gym was quiet, but I’m not sure what I’d have done if it was crowded besides get in other people’s way. If you’re a powerlifter or Olympic weightlifter, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. There’s only 1 deadlift platform, 2 squat rack, and 1 flat bench. Most of their weights are just old school iron plates, which can be a bit miscalibrated (some of my barbell squats felt unbalanced). The half-rack was decent, but the full-rack could be upgraded. The flat bench was also just okay, although the incline bench was nice, which makes sense given this gym’s focus on bodybuilding. Their barbells were pretty basic, but on par with a lot of commercial gyms. These are all things that I think bodybuilders would care less about though, and this is a bodybuilding gym so just take that into consideration.

I come to SLC from time to time and need a place to train. Called BPG, talked through Day Pass process - whole thing was effortless.
Get to the gym and I can say with absolute certainty that I've never been in a gym that is as well equipped as BPG. This is the only place I'll train when in SLC. Excellent work, y'all.

I was in town for just a couple of days and decided to check out this gym. It was amazing. If you're a gym/fitness enthusiast they have lots of good machines you don't really find at other gyms. The aesthetic is overall cool with a nice vibe. I visited outside office hours but they make it possible to easily get in and purchase items such as energy drinks (which was needed for an early morning workout) and even merch. They have other items such as proteins powders and pre workouts as well. There are private bathrooms along with napkins and cleaning spray to wipe down machines after use as we all should. They have a rest area with some comfy couches and a small studio for some post workout pump pics (there was even a ring light and phone tripod!!). If I lived in the area this would 100% be my gym. Even if you don't definitely check it out

Butler's Pro Gym is one of my favorite gyms in Utah. Located in a bustling area, this gym stands out from the chains with its unique character and specialty focus on old-school leg equipment. As a fitness enthusiast, I appreciate the individuality and dedication to providing a top-notch workout experience.
One of the standout features of Butler's Pro Gym is their dedicated leg room. This space is equipped with all the classic leg machines that many fitness enthusiasts seek out. From leg presses to calf raises, this room has everything you need for a killer leg day workout.
Unlike many chain gyms that can feel generic and impersonal, Butler's Pro Gym exudes personality and charm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, creating a sense of community among members. This unique atmosphere is what keeps me coming back for more.
Another aspect that sets Butler's Pro Gym apart is their equipment selection. They offer a mix of traditional machines and specialized equipment that you won't find at your typical gym. This variety allows for a diverse and challenging workout experience.
In conclusion, Butler's Pro Gym stands out as a one-of-a-kind fitness destination in Utah. With its old-school leg room, non-chain gym atmosphere, and unique equipment selection, this gym provides a truly unique workout experience. I highly recommend giving Butler's Pro Gym a try if you're looking for a gym that goes above and beyond the norm.

This a professional grade gym that embraces the old-school mentality of the 80’s thru early 2000’s. The members are kind and focused. I get after it hard in the gym and look for big equipment capable of handling big movements. Butler Pro Gym can accommodate the professional to novice first time lifter. The atmosphere is that of focus results. While other gyms offer amenities catered to comfort and uniformity and standardization, Butler Pro Gym allows the individual the opportunity to devote full attention on personal development without distraction. These gyms are hard to find… and worth stepping into.

I have not used Bronson Butler's gym, but I have bought two pieces of used cardio equipment from him. He is helpful, fair and honest. One piece of equipment had an issue that surfaced the day I got it home. Bronson offered to cover the repair cost to make it right. Who does that with a used equipment purchase? (We split it as I felt that was only fair.) So refreshing to work with people of integrity!

Great gym. Great ownership. The members there respect the gym as well.
I went here to do a shoot. I’ve done several shoots here in the past and was unsure of the additional fees to shoot.
Today I did a shoot for a friend’s birthday (none of us are members and there was about 10 of us there). One of the staff members came and asked me if I paid the fee to shoot, and I replied no and told him I was unaware of this. He told me to get in contact with Bronson.
So, it being a Saturday, I wasn’t sure if he would respond. To my surprise, after explaining the situation, within 5 mins he replied that it was ok for today and reminded me that moving forward that I would have to pay the additional fee.
We ended up staying for 3 hours and enjoyed our celebration workout there.
Thanks for understanding and letting us enjoy your gym.

Definitely the best bodybuilding gym around. It has all the old and new stuff. It's never been busy like commercial gyms. A great place to come and lift weights in ways that other gyms just can't provide. Bathrooms (with shower), cold drinking water, posing room, etc. I wouldn't recommend it to people who want to do Olympic lifts, but that's not what this beautiful gym was made for. If I lived closer, I would definitely get a yearly membership, but since I'm +45 minutes away, I get a day pass every once in a while and spoil myself. I absolutely recommend if you're in the area to have a lift here if you can make it. 24/7 and super easy to get a day or week guest pass.

This place, these people, this community, saved my life.
I LOVE this place, and if there was a way to give a 6 star review, I would. I've worked out at a lot of gyms and moved around a lot, and I've NEVER had an experience anywhere near the one I've had at Butler. Every single person in there is an absolute angel.
I was so intimidated by the idea of working out at a pro gym,, but man, were those presumptions SO wrong. The people at Butler genuinely take pride in seeing you succeed. They have this way of motivating you without making you feel bad about where you're at. Everyone's so dang nice.
I've been spiraling as some personal stuff has forced me into a not so great headspace, and Butler has been my rock that I could anchor to. It's the best part of every day. It simply would not be the place it is without the amazing staff and genuinely kind souls that run it.
Thank you, Bronson, Russ, John, Heather, and everyone else there who's made me feel so welcome.
Whether you're a pro, a beginner, or anything in between; this gym, and this community, is for you. I promise.

The recent expansion of equipment here is amazing. This is now a top bodybuilding gym in the country. The owner is not bringing in fluff. Corporate gyms have equipment that looks fancier, modern and more expensive but isn’t necessarily the best for targeting muscles. Some of the best equipment is old school plate loaded stuff. The machines here will target and cause pain. Bodybuilders with the most muscle should be the ones deciding what is the best equipment to be in a gym even if carrying their mass isn’t your goal you still want there wisdom for whatever amount of muscle you do want. Bodybuilders ought be the most received people in the gym but aren’t. Planet fitness has lunk alarms for those carrying a gallon of water (a smart thing) and grunting during a workout. Here bodybuilders are welcomed. The kind of gym you might take off your shirt impromptu for posing and you won’t get crucified. There posing room has good lighting for seeing your work. More plate loaded stuff here, cables, free weights etc. Things I love: the new white hack squat I am nailing my quads with (a lot of hack squats feel uncomfortable for me but not this one.). The inverted leg press not many gyms have. I can’t go that heavy for some reason but I get a great burn. The white leg press has a light sled and also feels great. There is generally a lot of leg equipment now. I’m trying to get into the pendulum squat. It’s still new for me. The belt squat had my legs feeling like rubber. I have used slightly better plate loaded sitting calf raise machines but I can definitely target my soleus. I like the smith machine’s thin bar (not the thick heavy bars at corporate gyms) for doing calf raises for gastrocnemius. They had a standing calf raise machine but I think they got rid of it. Maybe they’re getting another? A plate loaded standing calf raise machine would be sweet. I’m not finding a great lying hamstring machine for me. The plate loaded one I’m not able to bring to a full contraction at the top comfortably even with lighter weight but maybe I need to adjust it or do it first in my workout. There are other standing leg curl machines for hamstrings I also need to play more on. They also have a plate loaded sitting hamstring curl machine I can’t go very heavy on but I can do a lot of reps on. There is a great variety of choices for cable attachments. Unlike your usual lat pulldown bar there are attachments here that can target more the lower lats. I am still learning about some of these attachments from training videos. The ab straps are heavy duty and really quality for my ab work. They have a biceps blaster I love to remove shoulder flexion with. This list of equipment isn’t exhaustive. If you can’t get ripped at this gym go see a clinician who can test you for mental retardation. Room for improvement without sounding ungrateful: perhaps another lying hamstring curl if a quality one comes around? Perhaps more dumbbells in the lower weight category like 7.5, 12.5, 17.5, 22.5 etc…, matching kettlebells (lying tricep skull crushers with matching weights for example.)

1: Owner Bronson Butler and his team are extremely passionate about selecting the best rarest equipment and having the best trainers in house.
2: Everyone at this gym is extremely helpful and willing to help others especially new comers.
3: The vibe is like none other. If you want to be the best, you must train where the best train.
4: but not the final reason (because there’s too many to list here) I’ve been waiting many many years to find a gym such as this one. So it’s a great blessing and I’m grateful for everyone who makes it possible for all of us.

It is mostly free weights and machines and the cardio is limited in the number and variety but they have enough for you to not get bored.

Good stuff. I signed up a week ago after taking a 5 year break from 5 years’ bodybuilding, and lost all my gains. This place reminds me of the gyms I went to. Has the feel. Rarely jam packed. Supportive atmosphere, not jerks, which fosters real gains. The equipment is awesome. A lot of plate loaded machines that operate smoothly. Would like to see a stair master, plate weighted sit up machine, and the ever elusive forearm machine. That would be icing on the cake. But other than that this place is perfect, and those are small things. I scoped out the valley, save yourself the time, this is the best.

I love that this gym is so clean! There’s so many great machines/equipment.
I work with one of their personal trainers, John Gilbert. From day 1 I realized why I wasn’t reaching my weight goals. He is so professional, positive, and motivating. I would recommend if you’re looking to get to the next level and look your best he’s the guy to talk to. His meal plan was straight forward and really easy to follow.

Dopest gym in Utah. I have been to all the other main commercial gyms here in Utah, and finding this place was the best thing I ever did. Bronson, the gym owner, is a very knowledgeable and hardworking individual that is always doing everything he can to keep members happy, growing the gym and setting the standard for how a serious, hardcore gym should be. He is also the best bodybuilding coach in Utah, and has made a plethora of outstanding transformations inside and outside of the sport of bodybuilding; both lifestyle and competition clients with Team Butler Muscle. This is the Mountain Mecca. You will not find a better gym than Butler Pro.

Butler Pro Gym is not your typical gym. The place is not ego driven and not full of tough guys . We train very hard and intense. Whether you are a professional or a beginner everyone is treated equally. The gym is classy and unique . It is tucked away privately with 24/7 access. You do not have to worry about your stuff being stolen or having to tolerate any type of disrespect because it will be addressed quickly and promptly . It is a family atmosphere so if you are looking for a 2nd home and a good place to workout this is your gym . You will run into some of the hardest working men and women in the business !

Up until Butler Pro Gym, Salt Lake City has seriously lacked a place where bodybuilders and serious lifters could train and feel at home. There's a massive surplus of stuffy commercial gyms, mma gyms, and some good powerlifting gyms but no "home gym." For anyone who wants bodybuild, practice posing, or just train to their limits (without being scowled at), Butler Pro Gym is the place to go.

If you don’t want to worry about matching your tank top to your shoelaces or bumping into your grandma mid workout this is the gym for you. They’ve got a wide variety of equipment that’s actually useful, not 694 ab machines and nothing for legs. The walls are painted with pure motivation instead of shades of burgundy. Bronson usually won’t play Alanis Morrisette, it’s typically going to be something you’d actually want to lift to.
My favorite part is the outdoor area, Utah’s own “Mecca”.
Try it out. You can always go back to the big box if you miss their interior design and thousands of treadmills that don’t work.
