Dear Volleyball Parent,
As a past volleyball parent and mental health professional, I wanted to strongly advise against allowing your son or daughter to be trained at Club V. While you might be attracted to the banners with kids receiving scholarships, please understand that the mental toll associated with this club is atrocious. Only now that my daughter has given up volleyball do I feel comfortable leaving feedback due to the culture and influence of Club V.
Firstly, Club V strings players along with tryouts done initially where you put down a deposit and then you are placed on a team after your high school season. During this time, you might be promised one team but then recruiting from other clubs occurs and your daughter might be bumped in order to weaken other clubs in the valley. We were bumped after my daughter didn’t receive a commitment to a college and were told that she would be able to play with her friends after she played with the senior 18s club only to be lied too and she was demoted to the lower team.
Second, Club V monopolizes and only sees girls as volleyball players solely. Club V actively recruits players to go to certain schools where other Club V coaches are coaching high school volleyball with other Club V players as they assume that only volleyball matters and nevermind academics, social, and emotional support from other institutions where your girl may play. For instance, my daughter was recruited to Skyline by the Skyline coach and Reed Carlson only because it had a volleyball program that was coached by a Club V coach. In addition, Club V coaches then go on to prioritize Club V players on high school teams. If you have a question, please note the starters for the 2025 5A Utah Women’s championship teams where I believe almost all were Club V players. While you might think this is because of the Club’s skill, I would more likely purport that it is due to their branding recruiting, and willingness to throw players under the bus to get the best girls in the state.
Third, Club V is about winning and that’s it. There is absolutely no loyalty or investment into keeping the players. Multiple times, coaches would leave tournaments to coach other teams if their team didn’t do well. Our coach at Nationals left before we even played our last game because he wanted to attend another tournament in another state where he was a secondary coach because they were winning. Please tell me the message that gives the girls that worked so hard to go to Nationals?
Finally, Club V head coach Reed Carlson can be disturbingly aggressive with his players. While on a college visit, a college coach described how Reed had traumatized one of his players and he had to work on building her confidence back up. After watching game and practices, I concur that Reed breaks his players down and is extremely emotionally taxing and does not foster resilience but rather extreme dependence on his style of play and emotional need to please only their coach rather than enjoying the game and playing for their team.
Overall, the experience at Club V has been miserable and I would actively dissuade anyone from playing at the Club. Only the other players and their parents make the experience bearable.

Amazing venue for volleyball courts.
For tournament purposes…parking is awful. The employees struggled to keep up with attending to the restrooms. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.
The drop down nets around the courts was a nice safely feature but having the bleachers so close to the net proved to be a big safety hazard. So many people tripped over them. Surprised no one feel and hit their head.
Might have been less of a hazard if the isle behind the bleachers would have been used for foot traffic and not blocked by camper chairs, coolers, bags, etc.
When you’re there for 2 days strait…starts to feel like a jail cell… stuck in one area and hard to get out.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. There’s no parking, no room, and you can’t hear yourself think. On top of that the floors are complete crap.

This review is purely based on the times I’ve been here for volleyball tournaments (and as of February 2025). The facility building isn’t bad by itself, but the way they configure it for volleyball tournaments makes it inadequate. The facility supports twelve courts during tournament play, so 24 participating teams. All these teams plus their supporters mean quite a few people attending a tournament. Unfortunately, the facility only has parking for maybe half this number of people, so unless you arrive extremely early, you’ll likely have to park up to a quarter mile away along the road and walk to the facility.
Now once you’re in the facility, the next challenge is finding somewhere to sit. Like the parking situation, the facility doesn’t have adequate seating to handle the number of spectators for these large tournaments. You are allowed to bring a camping chair, but it is still challenging to find an open space to sit. Getting to the seating area on the back side of the courts is a hassle too. There are no designated walking paths to the backsides of the court, so if you have to go somewhere before a game is over you have to run across the court during a timeout or pause in play. One other thing to note about the seating is that the courts only have protective netting on three of the four sides of the court. This means that if you end up sitting on the side of the court that doesn’t have netting, you’ll have to worry about getting hit by a ball from either the court you are watching or one of the courts behind you.
The next inadequacy of this facility is the bathroom situation. They only have one men’s and one women’s bathroom. I was here for my niece’s volleyball tournament and the poor players looked miserable having to wait in a long line to use the bathroom.
Finally, this facility gets really loud during these tournaments. I was curious, so I downloaded a decibel meter app on my phone and it was consistently recording between 86 – 89 decibels. This is loud enough to permanently damage your hearing if you’re exposed to it throughout a whole day (e.g., 8 hours) of volleyball. Now granted I’m sure this app isn’t 100% accurate, but you can tell it’s really loud just by being in the building. I would recommend bringing some ear plugs if you’re planning on being here for an entire tournament.
I gave an extra star because they do have a concessions area where you can buy snacks (albeit, at a premium) and sit down to eat, so you don’t have to leave the tournament if you don’t want to.
Overall, as others have mentioned, this is my least favorite venue in the area for volleyball tournaments.

This place needs to stop hosting tournaments. The parking is not even close to adequate and the seating isn’t any better. It’s ridiculously loud inside. Everyone hates when we have to come to this location.

The facility manager by the name of Babcock is policing masks for certain folks and not for all of them. She told me to leave and that she didn’t have a mask for me as at least 50 people were within 30’ all without masks. Have the rules for everyone or not at all. Her breath smelled terrible through her mask. Yes she was that close to me....

Love the size of the facility. They worked on bleacher placement which was great. No longer narrow pathways in the middle courts. Better smell inside.
The snack bar is generally okay except today. There was white mold on the cheese of the chicken wrap I bought. When I asked for another one without white mold on the cheese the caucasian supervisors condescending responsed with an annoyed look "is this satisfactory to you?" Most of the young people working the booth are super friendly but the female caucasian supervisor is terrible.
Previous to the moldy cheese incident, the staff were accommodating which was much appreciated as my little one has food allergies.

Great volleyball courts, but very loud. Some courts don't have seating so bring your own seating. They have a eating area, along with plug ins to charge electronics as well. They also have concession to purchase snacks as well.

Overall the facility is great. When we come for volleyball tournaments it is clean and the equipment is well maintained. The only thing I can’t get over is 10 loud volleyball games going on all at once and echoing off the walls. There is zero sound management. If the owners would spend a little money and put sound panels on the wall and suspended from the ceiling it would make it much more enjoyable.

After being a Volleyball mom for 15 years, 2 daughters, I am now a volleyball grandmother. This facility, although lacking in some amenities, certainly trumps the places my daughters had to play in. Facilities for women athletes are always the most underfunded of venues. Be happy parents, that someone has at least stepped up and invested in our girls!!!

I can think of few thing worse than paying for inconvenience, but THIS facility would be one of them. From absolutely terrible parking to the overcrowded and inadequate seating this building SUCKS! it gets a second star only because as repurposed industrial buildins go the floors for vollyball are nice. They could protect guests from flying balls but they've chosen istead to spend the money on undersized bathroom facilities and an overpriced snackbar. As a vollyball dad this is the facility i dread coming to the most.
