The course itself is OK. Not a lot of challenge to the layout. Very wet and spongy on the fairway. A good course for a beginner golfer looking to have some fun on a non-challenging course.

DO NOT BRING KIDS HERE! I brought my son and the guy in the pro shop was extremely rude and said they donβt allow kids on the course at all. They also donβt allow spectators at all and kicked my wife and son off the course after I had already paid. For a course that 75% of the time is in pretty rough condition you would think they would at least be a little nicer. The only positive about this place is you can almost always get a tee time and now I see why!

Take a spare junk club to hit out of bunkers or else you'll jack up your good clubs. Hit my tee shot into the bunker on hole 11 and it was gravel. Got some gravel in between the ball and my wedge when hitting out and completely ruined my Vokey SM10 wedge. The face is completely messed up.

Cranefield Golf Course is an absolute dump. The cart paths are destroyed, the greens are dead and shredded, the fairways donβt even exist, and the tee boxes look like a war zone. Itβs obvious nobody cares about maintaining this place. Calling this a golf course is a jokeβitβs a total waste of money and time. I wouldnβt play here again if it were free.

Terrible customer service and communication from the archaic reservation system to the front desk employee. I reserved 6:40 tee time which could not be found (third time occurrence) then informed we would be called when up. 45 min later after following up for ETA w front desk, the mediocre employee says he thought we had already started playing. I reminded him that he told us he would call us. I wonβt be back.

I was very unhappy with this golf course on multiple occasions. The first one was my husband and I went in to golf nine holes and they told us that we could go out right then and start golfing, but that we had to go on their website and reserve a spot when we tried to do that. The next spot didnβt open up for another 45 minutes and they told us that we had to wait even though we were sitting there ready to go and they had openings to where we could just go out and start golfing then our second time giving this golf course another try we were out golfing and we had multiple workers Golf carts telling us that we only had 15 minutes left and then they came out again and said we only had five minutes left so they kept interrupting our golf game even though they didnβt close for another hour. Definitely wouldnβt recommend this golf course.

Outstanding service in the pro shop! Friendly staff and on point. If youβre new to golf and looking to build confidence in your game, look no further. Cranefield Field is it. My wife experienced her first round today here and we had a blast. No trees, wide open fairways, solid place to grow and learn the game of golf. ππΌββοΈ

I've been a regular golfer at this course for the past three years, playing multiple times a week. However, after today's experience, I've decided it's time to find a new place to play. My son and I had just finished our first nine holes and wanted to continue for another nine. Despite the tenth hole being completely open with no one waiting, our request was denied. We are both reasonably skilled golfers and maintain a good pace of play.
While I understand that courses have their policies, I've found that better-managed courses are more accommodating and understand the importance of customer satisfaction and pace of play. Seeing the tenth hole remain empty for a significant amount of time and the 11th and 12th hole empty as well it made no sense to me why we couldnβt golf.
I've enjoyed aspects of this course in the past, but ultimately, I've decided to invest my time and money in a golf course that better aligns with my expectations for customer service and flexibility. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience. I wish Crane Field the best, but it's time for me to move on.
I will still refer people to this course but not to expect a relationship and recognize face to be taken seriously.

Great place for affordable golf. Staff is great, the course is kept well, and for beginners or experts, it provides a fun day of golf. If you're there in the late afternoons, there are mosquitoes, but it's West Davis so its to be expected. The back 9 is the better and more funner part to play, but all 18 isn't a bad deal either.

Wiley and Steve are two of the best. I will never be any better at golf, but these two make me want to come back every day to try again. The clubhouse is so inviting when they are there. Their laughter fills the air, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. Every corner of the room seems to come alive with their stories and shared memories. It's a place where friendships deepen and new connections are forged. I often find myself wishing I could join in on their joyous banter all day long, feeling a part of something truly special. Bob is cool too.

The clubhouse ladies, Lindsay and Tori are super friendly. But the course leaves a lot to be desired. You get great views of the Wasatch Front, but the course layout is awful. The layout is confusing and the greens are some of the slowest Iβve ever putted on. It didnβt look like they had been watered which is odd as they have a retaining pond and a stream on the property. The mosquitos were unbearable. We enjoyed our time there, but wonβt play the golf course again. There are much better places around the Ogden to play.

Decent golf course. Fun layout. The course maintenance is a little rough. Not the best playing conditions. The course looks better than past years, but it definitely needs some help. Played this course today and wonβt be back. Iβve played numerous courses this past month and this was by far the worst. This course has definitely seen better days. Some of the tee boxes mustβve been left off of the routine maintenance list as it seemed like we were teeing off from the rough and divots galore on the other tee boxes. It seemed like there was no tee rotation at all. Water in some of the sand traps. Fairways had either been overly watered and had muddy areas or not watered at all and it was patchy and dead. Couldnβt really tell the difference from the rough or the fairway when teeing off. The greens were challenging especially due to the none existent maintenance they needed. Last and definitely not least, the mosquitoes are absolutely terrible here. They offered bug repellent lotion at the clubhouse and they were empty, I had my own in my bag and reapplied at least 5 times and it still didnβt help. To be fair, the guy at the clubhouse warned me of a βsmall mosquito problemβ but this is no small problem.

Mosquitoes from hell! I just got off the course it was a swampy mess and Iβm from Florida. It was hard to differentiate between the rough and the fairway. The layout was poor at best as well. The course has potential to be a pretty cool spot. Usually uncrowded which makes it convenient to play. Unfortunately the conditions are not great. Fairways don't seem to always be maintained as they have long grass with clumps in spots, in fact some holes it really isn't clear where or if there is a fairway.

This course has been my go to since living in Clinton. I was new to golf a little over a year ago and had only been casually a few times prior to my coming here. At first I didnβt think much of the course and would rate it as βaverageβ but after visiting some other courses I do have to give credit to the grounds staff as every time I come it gets better and better and is my preferred course in this area. The range is also exceptional with shade and distance markers.

If you want to take your chances with West Nile virus then itβs a good option. Never seen so many mosquitoes in my life especially for the middle of the day. I understand itβs not the most ideal location for a quality course but this course is truly terrible. You can pay $8 more for 18 and get a very quality course. If #9 fairway is closed due to ground repair and you made it a par 3, what's the deal with the other 17 fairways that should be closed too? You should be embarrassed to ask us to pay full price on that dirt patch. Sincerely, you are comfortable with calling those fairways and charging as much as Bountiful Ridge or similar? It is aerated clover fields that have so much damage on them, you truly should make it just a par 3 course. You couldn't pay us to play there again, it was that bad!

I have only played here twice this summer (2018) and what a nice surprise to have found this course. I played 18 holes both times and was glad that I took a cart. It's got some great holes that give you a challenge and some that are straight forward easy par 4 holes. Of course no par 3 hole is easy for me and here is no exception. Loved the open fairways and medium sized greens.
The staff here is as helpful and friendly as you will find anywhere. Will continue to make this a monthly visit.

My wife joined the 99 ladies program this month. She has never played golf, but this is a great opportunity for her to learn. This is her review: Wylie and Holly were excellent in starting with a large group of ladies of all skill sets and ages; they were able to interact with us for short individual periods in helping with how to hold the club properly, movement of the arms, wrists and torso in at least starting somewhere. The other ladies in the 99 program were quick to offer encouragement and suggestions where needed - these were all much appreciated. I've made a point of going at least 2 additional times to use the driving range and working on putting. I'm looking forward to my first game!

I have been golfing here for 3 years now. Initially when golfing here I thought it was a below average golf course. Over the past 3 years all it has done is improve. Pros: Pretty nice and an unheard of golf course that doesn't generate a lot of buzz. Lucky for the people that like to go here for practice.
Cons: The never ending amount of bird poop from the cranes in the local area.
The Basics: I went here with my dad on a Friday around the Thanksgiving holiday. It was really nice, and not crowded. The guy in working in the clubhouse was very nice and even gave me and my dad a free bucket of balls to hit before our round of 18. All and all I think this is a diamond in the rough. Aside of Schneiters Bluff, Riverside, and the other golf courses nearby this one is a great one!
Bottom line!.... Its a great course.

Worst place I have ever golfed in Utah. Worst greens ever not taken care of. Had big dead dirt spots on the Greens made putting useless. Also they practice their hole cuts on every playing Green so if your in the unfortunate spot of having to putt through their practice cuts good luck. Worst experience this year. Not even worth $9 bucks on the Davis pass. Maybe would have to think of going back if it was $5 total with Cart. But it would only be by myself I would never bet money against friends on here

FIRST TIME GOLFERS TO CRANE FIELD, TREATED BADLY. WON'T BE RETURNING!!!!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND CRANE FIELD GOLF COURSE! GRUMPY, FRUMPY FRONT DESK MANAGER! BAD EXPERIENCE! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Our first experience with Crane Field began as we pulled into the parking lot. We were excited to be playing a new course. As we unloaded our bags the excitement of our first adventure at Crane Field was overflowing.
We entered through the wrong door with our bags (oops), the clerk at the front desk showed her annoyance, and immediately told us "to put your bags outside!" She was grumpy and rude. We told her this was our first time playing Crane Field and proceeded to shop for gloves, hats, tees and balls. After making our selections and spending $70 in the pro shop and another $100 for the round. She sent us out on the BACK 9! The back sucks! The greens are soggy, the fairways are beat up, we had to drop several times due to construction. The parking lot was empty, this was @ 4 pm on a Saturday afternoon, the course was virtually dead, and the clerk (which was actually the manager), sent us out on the back! The worst part of the course, we found out after that the front is in much better condition. Why she wouldn't want to give us a better experience and show off the best part of the course is a mystery to
I can understand not wanting to work on a Saturday afternoon, but to treat any customer so rudely, especially customers that had never been there, I don't get it!
We will not be going back. I do not recommend playing this course, aside from the horrible, unfriendly, grumpy manager at the desk, the back 9 is a mess. Unfortunately I cannot rate the front 9, thanks grumpy, frumpy woman!!

Great affordable golf! This course accommodates golfers of all abilities. Playing from the tips makes the course a respectable length and the small greens require your approach shots to be precise. For less experienced golfers, the course offers shorter tee boxes and a open layout. The course is still growing in a little, but the quality of the greens is excellent.

Really enjoyed the playing the front 9 today! Nice open fairways. This is a very forgiving course. Greens are well manicured and extremely fast. There seemed to be a bunch of grounds work that caused for some terrible lays and mandatory ball drops, but other than that it's a great course!

The course is always beautiful and fun. They must have hired some new people, usually the staff is very friendly and helpful but today it was some young kids with extremely smug attitudes. They were very rude. It is to bad.

It's great to have a home course so close and so cheap. Staff is great also.

Loved our game at Crane Field today! The course was not too crowded and is nice and open! Average fairway length and nice greens. Great place for amateur/novice golfers. The price can't really be beat! The staff is very friendly and helpful! Great place to golf on a regular basis, and not that far off the freeway in Clinton. I'm going back next week!

Loved my experience at Crane Field. Thought for the price I was going to get an executive course, but was happily surprised it was a full course and not crowded. I enjoyed the water hazards and the long fairways. I will go again soon.

Best value course in northern Utah. I've been playing this course for several years and the course is in great shape. The greens are even in better shape then their sister course Remuda. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Plus unlike most other golf courses in the area, Crane edges their golf cart paths. Its the little details like edging that give a golf course a premium feel.

The fairways are very patchy - lots of bare spots from the alkaline soil.

I play this course fairly regularly as my first "Away" course. It's still under construction and they are working on it. They have added BUNKERS GALORE!!! Expanded Cart Paths, and are doing they're best to fix the places where grass isn't growing the best. They have really tried hard to fix the bad spots and with some success. It is STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS, but I love the greens, I love the lay out, I love the 4 or 5 Par Fives, and I love the amount of Par 4's!!! It's a fun course, and if you can deal with the construction it's a great course. Personally I think when it is finished with the construction and the grass is fully grown in, IT WILL BE BETTER Than it's sister course Remuda! That is my thinking. It's a great course and you still get construction rates too!
UPDATE: Over the 2014 Season they have DONE MIRACLES since my first review. It is still a work in progress, but it is really grown in nicely and way fewer "bare" spots than there was in spring of 2014! It has become my new favorite course in Northern Utah, although fairly flat, and it has pretty much taken over as my home course as the year progressed! Next Year My UGA will list it as my Home Course! It is well manicured and as the trees continue to grow, this course will begin to flourish! Normally when you get a golf course built among a housing development you have windows and siding brakes in the back of your mind if you slice or hook, not to worry here, it's WIDE OPEN!!!
