EOS usually does things right — other locations are genuinely better — but the Layton EOS is in a league of its own, and not in a good way.

If you’re actually trying to get on a machine, good luck. This place is packed with gym rats who treat equipment like personal hangout spots. You’ll walk the whole floor and still end up waiting, circling, or giving up altogether. Getting time on a machine here feels like winning a raffle.

And the equipment that is open? A lot of it is worn down and clearly overdue for some basic maintenance. Nothing extreme — just that constant “used hard, cared for rarely” feeling that adds up fast. It matches what a lot of people have said: this location stays busy, but it doesn’t feel looked after.

Staff is fine, but the gym itself has outgrown what it can handle. Too many people, not enough functional equipment, and zero chance of getting a smooth workout in.

Overall, Layton’s EOS doesn’t reflect the quality you see at other EOS locations. It’s overcrowded, under-maintained, and honestly one of the hardest places to get a proper workout. If you’ve been to better EOS gyms, the difference hits immediately.

The new company has been very negligent in cleaning the steam room; it's truly disgusting, and some people even climb on the benches with their shoes on, even though we need to sit down. It would be great if there was a notice asking people to clean them afterwards or not to climb on them with shoes on. You can see hairballs in the corners of the gym because they aren't vacuuming, and they never vacuum the artificial grass either.

My husband decided to get a membership he was bringing his buddies which was great then they started to push about adding him to the family plan so he can go whenever he wanted to well they said he would pay his own part and my husband would have his payment they didn’t tell him it would all come out of his card still well we decided to cancel we told them we would like to cancel the whole plan INCLUDING his buddies like you would think the whole this would’ve got canceled well nope they only canceled my husband not the family plan that was on his account and he was still getting charged note we paid like $80 or $100 dollars to cancel in the first so I figured that included that well anyways I go in to tell them why am I getting charged still they said because of his friends still account still open I told them everything should’ve been canceled in the first place then they told me I would need to pay ANOTHER cancellation fee!! I said nope I’m not paying that and I want everything erased and they seemed not to even care and said they will get to it when they can and the other recent charged I wouldn’t get a refund and I’m pretty sure they are trying to fight my dispute like be so for real! Everyone that talks to me about going to a gym I will never recommend EOS ever to them even the bank we have told us how many people they have coming in with problems with EOS too so they are a problem!!!

I was super nervous to start going to the gym, it can be an intimidating place. I even signed up online to avoid being intimidated. The staff there is so friendly and helpful that I felt comfortable going almost immediately. I never feel like anyone is judging me or my workout. Everyone just goes about their own business. The facility is nice and clean, I always see team members wiping down some of the machines while I'm there and that puts me at ease to know I'm not touching machines that never get cleaned. I’ve been going to this facility since it was a Gold’s, and now EOS. The staff and faculty have been able to maintain an atmosphere that has kept the people around that have been going here for decades basically. This tells me that they really know the spirit of what it means to be healthy, and how they truly works into it being a community.

Russel has been here the longest out of anyone at the gym, and he makes sure to keep the place comfortable for everyone. The rest of the staff is also really friendly and have good direction and are just all in all good people.

I Ordered a membership on line and visited the location for the first time two days later. I immediately cancelled after walking the property. The lockerooms were disgusting, toilets had fecal matter on them and had not been cleaned in awhile. The woman who helped me cancel was efficient, but the "couple" employees in the office behind her were all over each other with PDA, and not dressed professionally. I don't have high standards for a gym, but this level of unsanitary is repulsive

I walked into EOS in Layton looking like a frazzled but sexy garden gnome and walked out feeling like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s evil twin from a parallel universe.

The dumbbells there didn’t just weigh pounds, they weighed secrets from the core of the earth, and every curl felt like summoning a dormant volcano.

By my third set, the mirrors were fogging up with what I swear was cinematic smoke while a voice whispered “GET TO THE CHOPPA” every time I racked a weight.

A guy on the treadmill started levitating, and I’m pretty sure the squat rack blinked at me approvingly as my quads morphed into two living oak trees.

Pre-workout from the vending machine tasted like neon thunder, and suddenly I could hear protein shakes calling my name in Austrian accents.

People backed away as my shadow grew biceps of its own and flexed independently. When I finally left, the automatic doors bowed like servants and I drove home gripping the steering wheel so hard it turned into a barbell, muttering “I’ll be back” to no one in particular.

EOS Prioritizes Their Interests—Not Yours
I've been an EOS member for 7-8 years, including through the COVID era, and up until now, my experience has been decent. However, my recent experience with their referral program has completely changed my view.

A few months ago, I encouraged some friends (a family of four) to join EOS, and they did—signing up for both memberships and personal training. EOS advertises that if you refer three people in a month, you’ll receive a free year, provided they stay for at least three months. Wanting to ensure everything was properly recorded, I spoke with a front desk employee, Lyndsey (she's been great), who assured me my referrals were correctly marked.

After waiting the required three months, I noticed I was still being charged. I gave it another month in case there was a delay, but the charges kept coming. I returned to EOS and spoke with Lyndsey again, who escalated the issue to her manager, Taylor. I was told to check back in a few days. This cycle repeated for weeks: "Check back in a few days."

Eventually, I found out Taylor had transferred to another gym, meaning I had to start over with a new manager. More waiting, more runarounds. I remained patient, assuming EOS would honor their promise.

Finally, I was handed off to a different employee (Kylee or something), and after reviewing my case, she quickly informed me that since too much time had passed, they could no longer grant the free year. She was polite, but a polite brush-off is still a brush-off. When I expressed my frustration, she simply repeated that there was nothing she could do. I left feeling both surprised and irritated.

Ironically, while writing this, I noticed Kylee is also the person who responds to all the Google reviews with the same canned message: "Please contact me so we can resolve this." Well, Kylee, I already did, and you didn’t resolve anything. So don’t bother pasting the same scripted response here—you know how to reach me if EOS actually wants to make this right.

I will gladly update this review if EOS follows through on their commitments. Until then, I can’t recommend trusting their referral program—or their willingness to do what’s right for their members.

This is a great location. They have done well with the space they inherited from the building that was several grocery stores in the past. The front desk is always very welcoming and encouraging, they have a good selection of equipment and exercise areas, and it's pretty close to almost everywhere. They do a great job keeping it clean and maintained also. Great location if you're just traveling through and need to get your workout in or if this is regular location.

I was scammed at this gym (EOS Fitness). My wife and I signed up for two basic memberships for $10 a month. We discussed the benefits of these memberships and which locations we could and couldn't access. We were also offered the option of working with a personal trainer, among other things. We ultimately signed up for both subscriptions. The person who helped us never mentioned that there was an annual fee for using the gym equipment or the amount of that fee. In total, they deducted $156 for both memberships. They said we could continue with the service if we wanted, and we could also cancel the memberships. If you withhold information when signing a contract and end up overcharging, that's called a scam, and obviously they won't accept that they withheld information. In short, they robbed me and got away with it.
We spoke to the person at the gym's reception desk and told them we wanted to cancel both memberships. They asked for our information and told us they had already canceled our memberships, but they were still deducting the monthly fees.
I demand a refund for the money they took from my bank account for the monthly fees and the charge for using the gym equipment, as they never told us this money would be deducted.
I hope to hear back as soon as possible.

1) The fans in MoveOS Cinema are turned off during autumn and winter.
2) $50 to downgrade plan or required to cancel.
3) Scheduling a free session of training through the app leads to them canceling the appointment and potentially charging you for a no show? Schedule your free session in person.
4) Women using the MoveOS Cinema are too arrogant to follow the rules of wiping down the machines after use. Men are more likely to follow the rules.
5) Staff can seem rude or annoyed that you are talking to them.
6) Lax enforcement of rules can be annoying.
7) 4 stars for being the right size gym and enough equipment for beginners and casual gym goers. I go when I want to. No set schedules.
8) Must cancel a month before membership expires or you have to pay a renewal fee to cancel.

Cool gym, but they scheduled me with a trainer and she wasn’t there. They told me to come back the next day, and same thing. They also said that there was a 1 dollar price to sign up. But I got charged over 100 dollars in the second month for a sign-up fee… what a scam!

Then they called me and didn’t leave a voicemail. I called them back and they put me on hold and tried to get my bank account details. They’re trying to scam even more! They said they’d add a 3 dollar charge because I’m not giving them

One of the worst experiences, I felt scammed because the person who signed us up omitted the small detail that they were going to deduct an annual fee of almost $60 dollars and they deducted $78. Aside from that, we clarified to this person that for now we were going to take the gym for 3 months and it was fine. And I don't understand if we clarified that we only wanted three months because they deducted the membership for a year. My husband and I lost about $200 dollars in this dishonest registration.

This is my normal gym and have been coming for years. The biggest issue is all the teen age kids. I've seen everything from taking up machines to just stand in front of them, to fill in make out sessions. The staff needs to step up and notice these things happening and fix it. It's gotten so much worse recently and I'm ready to cancel my membership because of it.

The facilities are generally clean, although the building has not undergone significant renovations since its Gold’s Gym days, unlike some other EOS locations.

- Not too pushy on sales:
I have never felt pressured to purchase additional services, which is appreciated.

- Friendly staff:
The staff is generally friendly and helpful.

Cons:

- CROWDS:
This is the most significant drawback of this location. While I typically prefer to work out at 10 or 11 pm to avoid crowds, this location is not 24/7, which eliminates that option. I have visited the location at various times, and it is consistently packed. Arriving immediately after opening or before closing alleviates some of the congestion, but at any other time, there is a high probability that you will spend more time waiting for equipment than actually working out.

- Teenagers:
Layton High School nearby contributes significantly to the crowds. After 3 pm, the gym is often dominated by 15-18 year olds who may not adhere to gym etiquette.

- Limited equipment:
For a gym this size, having only 3 bench press racks is criminal. There is also only 4 squat racks which are usually all taken.

When I joined on Nov. 20, the Personal Training sales people showed up and offered their program at $88 every two weeks. I couldn't afford it, so they said they would lower the price to a one time payment of $20 with 4 free sessions. So then I signed up, and now my Credit Card is being billed at $88 every two weeks for 4 months. I complained about it and as of Dec. 22, nothing has changed, they just say I signed the contract, so now I have to pay. What a rip-off. Zero stars.

I haven't joined a gym in 30 years, and this is how it played out. I signed up for a membership yesterday. At this moment, I am very disappointed in what i've seen and experienced at EOS. The man at the front desk said I could NOT do a free day or a free trial. He stated it was a liability, and I had to sign up first. Which, I did, and when I downloaded the EOS app, it said, "Try us for a 7 day free trial." What is happening? I don't mind that the gym is older and a bit run down. It's kinda my jam! But the bathrooms were really dirty, way beyond the normal wear and tear. Then another strange experience happened with a couple of staff members. It was so uncomfortable. In doing a little research on Google, it shows that Utah EOS underpays their general managers by 18%. EOS, please step up your game. Be better to your employees and don't make them do these sketchy bait and switch tactics. It's gross.

Eos fitness on Fort Lane is always clean and enough equipment for any workout routine you want. It can get busy at times. So, plan your workouts accordingly. Plenty of cardio equipment, free weights, and machines. Great staff that welcome you in. 😀

This location is busy but still has plenty of machines, clean, and organized. The employee do a good job walking around double cleaning things. Feels good to work out here.

Tried to pay my dues and the system kept saying I needed to sign in. Tried to sign in online and system kept saying incorrect credentials (impossible being the same to sign into app). I tried recovering passwords, never received email. Tried recovering username, never received email. Waiting to receive recovery email (as stated never received) it went into the next day which then I was charged a late fee! Then I tried to just cancel membership, there is nowhere to do so on the app. I'm sure all this is intentional so they can steal your money! Right after I signed up for membership I got very ill and was sick for over 2 weeks, so I never even made it to the gym for my free 13 days and I'm already being charged for bs. If you sign up just BE AWARE!

Cancelled membership with employee over the phone. Told me I’d be charged $10 for the next month-was charged $25, then $25 a second month. So I called and they said it wasn’t even cancelled and you have to do it online.

I tried to cancel my membership for personal training and my gym membership and although they said I was squared away. They continued to bill my account for both services. I had to go in 3 different times until the manager was finally able to get me cancelled, 4 months later and they offered no refund. It felt very weird to go in 3 different times and they not follow through and they will not refund even though I didn’t use the service and I wanted to cancel. Will never go back

Me and my father tried an EOS 7 trial period last year and this location, on our second day, stopped my father from entering the facility and they are pushing my father to commit a membership to them. My father told them that we are still on trial period and we would like to maximize the chance first. Then the sales rep told my father to buy a supplement from them first before he can proceed with the trial period. VERY TERRIBLE policy by your sales representatives. We tried a different EOS location in the area and they are fine with our trial period.

Stay away from this location. Go to ROY or KAYSVILLE location instead. At least the people/staff their are nice.

Decent gym! Would recommend signing up online and using a virtual card as opposed to just walking in.

Avoids any potential upsell headaches and pressure, keeps ABC financial (gym billing) away from your bank account, and gives you the choice to sign up for a personal trainer later if that’s your thing.

I go in the mornings personally and it’s fairly crowded, but haven’t had too much trouble with access to equipment overall.

It was the worst experience I could ever have with a gym. I don't know how they are still doing business. They lied to me, they deceived me. When I asked for the cancellation of my plan, they refused to do so and continued charging. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and they didn't reply. I will file a claim in the small claim court to have my money back.

They lie right to your face to get you to sign up! Signed up with the premium membership with Taylor, so we could bring a guest. We explained that I was going to bring my 15 year old daughter and my husband could bring my 13 year old daughter. We were told that you had to be at least 13 to come to the gym. I showed up today for the first time with my daughter and they told me that you had to be 16 years old to come as a guest. I asked to speak to the manager. The SAME person who signed me up for the membership walks over and says there must have been a misunderstanding. I told her no, you told my husband and I both that we could bring our daughters. She just looked at me and said there must have been a misunderstanding. I told her I would just cancel and I understood. So she tells me that I still have to pay the annual fee for both memberships because I am canceling. So her fault, but I still have to pay??? Do not sign anything!! Don’t let the manager lie to your face!!

My suggestion is don’t sign up for this gym or it’s personal trainers unless you want to be ignored and charged for months after you cancel. The manager is unresponsive and dismissive of the members. As a young person that trusted the process I was told what would be required for me to cancel and followed those steps, is now being charge multiple payments each month for a service I canceled. Being ignored when trying to reach the manager, being hung up on when on hold. It’s extremely disheartening.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND. I feel completely frustrated with the (poor) service provided by EoS Fitness in Layton, UT. Last month, I accompanied my wife to enroll and was offered a program with personal and nutritional support, but we initially declined because my wife preferred to hire someone who spoke Portuguese (her native language). However, after much insistence, my wife agreed to take a trial class and, if she didn't like it, she could cancel the program. The trial class was scheduled for the next day, but my wife got in touch asking for the class to be rescheduled as she had a scheduling conflict. It turns out that after some unsuccessful attempts to take the trial class, my wife hired the Portuguese support she wanted and asked EoS to cancel the program. However, to our surprise, even after the cancellation request, the program fee was debited from your account and now EoS refuses to refund the amount and says we have to continue paying (even though we never took the trial class). For me, this goes beyond the standards of good faith, information and quality expected from a company of this size. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Nice gym with a good selection of equipment, was an old Gold's Gym and you can see some of the leftovers. Bring your own headphones unless you like the basic music they play. Steam Room is nice just wish they would CLEAN it occasionally and would've left the hose in there. Gym is constantly crowded just wish it was 24/7
