Lots going right with this place. Great organization, scheduling, flexibility with working with parents, incredible clean facility full of cheery colors and games, clean lockers. Everything on the admin side was perfect. When we were ready to go, the cancellation process was fair, smooth, and quick. Thank you.

Minus one star because I think they need to more carefully vet their swim coaches and lifeguards to be people that are good to be around kids. That’s why we’re stepping away. Shame too, because everything else about the company was really great.

We LOVE Goldfish Swim School!

It’s by far the best place for swim lessons we’ve ever tried. They are so organized and professional. Our kids love that they can work through different skills, level up and earn prizes for their hard work.

The facility is so clean and nice, and makes us feel comfortable and safe. They have two lifeguards on duty, in addition to all the instructors in the pool, which we find really reassuring.

Our girls love coming and have improved so much. We also love that because it’s indoors, weather doesn’t affect our lessons and we can go year round.

Kids (8, 6, 3) came for a week long jump start class, they loved it and made huge progress.
Their teacher, Kassie, was great, and did a fantastic job of being kind but firm that they were going to try things they were a little uncomfortable with, and by the end of the week they had made a lot of progress.
Well maintained facility, good temperature air and water for the kids, nice places to change. Employees were helpful and nice.

The teachers are excellent. The program is excellent. My daughter went from "I REFUSE to put my face into the water" to having zero fear of holding her breath and going under water. It's been so impressive to see the growth in just a month's time. I've been very pleased and would highly recommend!

They need more bathrooms that do not have showers. Everyone gets in the bathrooms and showers forever. This is a real problem when you have kids that need to go. They need at least 1 bathroom that doesn’t have a shower.

They fixed it very quickly when it was brought to their attention and have since disconnected one shower so there is a dedicated bathroom. Thanks for hearing the feedback. Five stars for how quickly the problem was fixed.

Can’t say enough good about the Goldfish Swim School, my daughter and son have both gone from being too afraid to let go of a parent in a pool, to swimming entire lanes or putting their heads under the water unassisted all thanks to the Goldfish Swim School and their swim coaches.

They have really nice facilities and plenty of amenities like tons of dressing rooms, plenty of showers, swimsuit dryers, blow dryers and can’t forget to mention their family swim nights where the whole family can come swim for free if your kid is a student.

This school is amazing! They go above and beyond! We have loved the teachers. My child is picky so if we have ever had a teacher they didn't work well with the school helps me get into a new class and find a better fit! I also love the makeup class policy it is the most flexible I have seen compared to other swim schools in the valley. The bright colors and ocean theme also make it an exciting place. I love everything about this swim school. Classes are short, which I was worried about at first, but it's perfect for what my kids need. The amenities are amazing, the coaches make it easy to understand what your kid is good at vs what they need to work on. They get little ribbons when they pass things off, which encourages my kids even more. Their availability makes it so easy to work it around our schedule. I highly recommend them!

My 4yo son absolutely LOVES going to swim school at goldfish! He has gained a lot of confidence when in the water and he adores trying to get a ribbon (this is the school reward method for hard working kids and they get a treat after class with it!). Teachers are lovely the facilities are always clean and they have all you need like hair driers option to buy towels or googles if you forgot, showers shampoo etc! As a mom of a young one, I am truly satisfied!

My kids didn't like Goldfish at first, but after Goldfish revamped their approach to lessons, my kids have been loving it. They love their faster rate of progression, and they love the new skills they've been learning. We also love the Family Swim, where we get to enjoy a warm, clean pool, with a lifeguard always on duty, and fun pool equipment to swim with.

I also have to give a shout-out to the staff for constantly playing schedule Tetris for us. Every time one of my kids moved up a level, they'd help us move things around so we could still keep our kids' lessons at the same times or back-to-back at least. That was no easy feat, and was something that other swim places struggled to accommodate. We super appreciated this help from the Goldfish staff. Also, the process of having to cancel a swim lesson if needed and scheduling a makeup later is very stress-free.

What I hate to see in this place are those parents who don't let their kids play with other kids. My kiddo asked those 2 siblings if he can play with them during the family swimming so technically everybody wasn't on a timed lesson. I don't understand why adults would not teach their kids how to be polite as simple as, "I'm sorry, we can't." The mother and her kids just stared at my kid and didn't say a thing!! Not cool!

We love goldfish! Our 18month old has been going for 5 months now and they’ve helped him to climb out of the edge of the pool and hold his breath all by himself even at his young age. This place has things buttoned up. From the timing of switching classes, safety while waiting their turn, to cancellations and make up sessions it’s been great. I have 2 kids taking the class with one that is scared of water. The progress with both kids has been great. We aren’t able to get them to the pool very often, so having a weekly class has been nice to keep them comfortable with swimming, They are very aware of what each of my children need to work on and try to move that along in a trusting, patient, and kind way. My fearless one has had a lot of fun and my scared one has done so much more by now than I thought she ever would. I also always appreciate and am impressed when young people do a job well. A lot of people that work here are younger and they’re very polite and responsible. I appreciate they are open on Sundays and consider working parents with hours. I’m glad I chose this swim school over the others.

Both of my boys have taken lessons at Goldfish American Fork and it has been a great experience. My 4 year old is obsessed and lights up when I tell him it’s time for swim lessons! My girls have come so far in such a short period of time with the instruction they receive at goldfish! The staff is so accommodating and helpful! We started bringing our 3.5 year old here this month the first couple classes were good however yesterday I watched as the instructor made my son “swim” back and forth repeatedly (he cannot swim). and with his entire body and head under the water he was shaking his head like he needed help/air and she just stood there and let him gasp for air under water. Over and over. She would finally pull him up and he was choking on water and gasping for air. This happened repeatedly and he was the only kid in the class so had no breaks in between these episodes. Finally I spoke up and told her “I don’t think he is okay, I think he is going to throw up” she responded with “he’s fine.” And then he proceeded to throw up right then because he swallowed so much water. I also ended up taking him to the ER because my pediatrician recommended it to rule out the risk of secondary drowning as he breathed water into his lungs over and over and hours later was still coughing up water and throwing up. It was horrible and very traumatic to watch him do everything but drowned in front of me and was traumatizing and life threatening for him.

We love this swim school! Our 6yo daughter was afraid to try swim lessons again after she had a bad experience with swim lessons at a city pool, but these guys helped her so much during her trial lesson. They are so organized and methodical in the way they teach, and they have equipment that makes their teaching effective and fun. We were so relieved when our daughter told us she was excited to come back for more lessons after that first day because she had such a good experience! We signed her up for their Jumpstart program and it’s been excellent—she’s learning so quickly and she looks forward to her lessons!

Good school overall but I’m just here to complain about the snack policy. My daughter always looked forward to getting a ribbon at the end of the class so she could go get a snack at the front desk
, like, that was the highlight of the class for her. However, without notice, they just stopped giving out treats to the kids which I’m a little disappointed about. I know it may seem like a small thing, but my kid is definitely not as excited to go to class as she used to.

I have no problem with teachers , they are incredible, but I would like to comment that today I went to the reception and generally the people in charge are always in front, but today I went to make a question about a flight attendant on my account and it was so simple to explain that it was the annual membership . Miss Katie helped me, and when I asked her name she didn't even look at me, she continued walking, explaining to the manager, who very kindly explained to me in detail what I had been asking about. I felt very vulnerable being treated with indifference and annoyance by this person mentioned above. His annoyance on his face was very noticeable when answering my questions, which at no time were ill-intentioned. I just wanted a simple friendly response but it wasn't like that. This fact is unfortunate because as I said before we had very good references for goldfish from American Fork and everyone is very friendly at this location :/

We signed my 4yr son up for swim lessons a few months ago. While he loves playing in water, he has major performance anxiety and doesn’t love trying new things. After the first lesson, it was clear he was not quite ready. However, according to policy, we were locked in for 4 more classes and were instructed to just keep bringing him, so we did. There was one instructor that was great with him and let him take his time and feel as comfortable as possible, even though every class was a struggle. I was grateful for that.

This review has nothing to do with the instructor or the fact that my son was nervous and not quite ready. It has to with how we were treated on our way out.

The reward for going to this class and working on facing his fears was that he got a candy at the end as we were leaving, which he looked forward to every time. Ribbon or no. On our very last class, we were walking out and he ran right up to get his candy, but was denied because he wasn’t given a ribbon. My son was confused. He didn’t understand what he had done wrong. We were never told we needed a ribbon to get a treat. Some weeks he got a ribbon, some he weeks he didn’t. But every week he got a treat. A new policy was never explained to me before hand to prepare him. And the girls at check out acted like they couldn’t care less. It broke my heart for him. I couldn’t even explain to him why he didn’t get a ribbon because it wasn’t explained to me.

I get giving out a reward. But not making it clear of why he did or didn’t fail that week is not teaching him anything.

I did a lot of research trying to figure out which swim school my twin boys should go to and I am so glad I decided to go with Goldfish! I really like how each lesson is 30 minutes since it took some time for one of my boys to even feel comfortable getting the water which would take sometimes 15 minutes sometimes into the lesson. I saw some other swim schools only had 10 minute classes which would’ve never worked for my boys.
They are very accommodative when I need to reschedule our lessons and the swim teachers are the NICEST to my boys. They are patient and very kind to my boys when they have been scared to get into the water. I would absolutely recommend Goldfish to anyone!

The swim school is a fun place. Both of my sons go there. But they recently made a policy change to their post class snack policy. It used to be that after class, you got a ribbon which you redeemed for a snack. If you leveled up, you would get two ribbons. Last week, we finished class and no ribbons were given out. That has happened before but we got snacks anyway. However, this time, they acted like we were delusional when we were confused as to why the boys got no snacks. They acted like ribbons were rarely given out and no real criteria on how they were earned was given.

This week, one son had a class where no ribbons were given. The other sons class all were given ribbons. I heard another customer today confused because the same thing happened to them.

What is the policy?? When are ribbons given? Why was the policy change never communicated to customers? It isn't in any newsletters and no signage has been posted. Don't gaslight us about the policy either.

I am updating my rating as of 4/30/24. We have loved goldfish swim. I take all 3 of my daughters there and have for months. I’ve been super frustrated at their change in not being consistent in giving ribbons or setting a clear criteria with parents and kids. My kids work so hard and it’s so frustrating when one gets a ribbon and the other doesn’t, they’ve both worked equally hard and both done the same exact thing. Some teachers just decide not to. When they don’t get a ribbon, they don’t get a treat. I’ve even been told before that they deserved a ribbon, but they just didn’t give them out. The last 2 times I’ve had kids in tears as we’ve left and it’s really tainting my experience. I totally understand that if kids misbehave and setting an expectation that they don’t get a ribbon but I don’t like what this is promoting and it makes my kids wonder if they’ve done something wrong when they don’t get one.

They do not provide infant survival skills. I had my daughter in lessons for a couple months from 8 months old. She loved class and became confident going under water. The classes are cute and playful. Your baby sits in your lap and you all sing songs and paddle around the pool. They play games like collect all the floating balls, basketball, jump off the side, climb out, float with a parent, get the balls again… it’s cute, BUT they never teach them to float on their own.

I asked when they teach that and it’s in their more advanced class, like toddler stage, so don’t expect that. That’s what I wanted so I canceled and they won’t stop spam calling me to come back… really annoying.

The pool water was warm and nice but the changing rooms are freezing.

Overall, it was a fun experience for my 1-year-old son. Teachers were great. I felt like the lessons were more to help our baby get comfortable with the water than actual swimming compared to different classes around.

The unfortunate side of all this is that we had to work off of their schedule. They didn't seem to want to work with us and the times that were best based on our availability. We had an 11am class, and we are not sure why, but they insisted that we switch to 10 am and no reason was given. We couldn't do it. It again seemed like we couldn't be worked with, so we had to cancel. They also appeared to be happy to have us cancel anyway.

We were members at the south Jordan location and then we moved to American fork because the drive was closer to our house. The instructors are a lot newer at this location although they are trying our girls learned way more at the south Jordan location not to mention weekly they would give out treats like donuts or popcorn at the the south Jordan location. We have seen our girls stop improving here so are canceling our membership as the cost is very high to not learn hardly anything or see improvements but would recommend in the future the extra drive to the south Jordan location!

We've been doing the Parent Child swim class for a couple months and it's so much fun! My son has learned a lot of skills and it's great bonding time together. The instructor is friendly, and we love that the water is warm and the decor tropical.

This is THE MOST amazing Swim class. I have done all the rec classes, tried to teach my 4yo myself, but NOTHING compares to the teachers and staff at Goldfish! My son learned all the necessary survival skills in one summer! 😍 12/10 would recommend!

We loved our time here! The instructors were so good with my kids, who are usually very nervous to try new things. They were really patient and encouraging of them! They taught my kids they can do hard things. And they make it so fun! Swim class was my kids favorite 30 minutes of the whole week.

Incredible experience! From the moment you walk in you are immersed in the fun, playful and exciting. My kids felt at ease right away and were eager to learn. My daughter took the 4 year old class and loved it. I took my son to the parent & me class and the instructor made things so engaging for both parent and baby! My son smiled the entire time . At the end the kids get Ribbons showing the level they are at. Customer service was perfect and I felt very welcomed the entire time. If you are looking for a “no tears” swimming experience then I highly recommend Goldfish Swim!
