Gained weight (body fat), lost muscle mass, lost close to $1,000. Very disappointed with the end result for me...
Advertising on facebook & what was said over the phone to get me into the sales pitch & what was said in the meeting are NOT transparent. I wish everyone & every business could be transparent. I was asked if I'd trust (John) & his nutrition advice. (I didn't know what that advice would be until after I signed up & paid). It was 1.5 pounds of meat/ animal product EVERY day. I told them I was studying veganism before & after signing up & so 1.5 pounds of meat/animal protein/day is a whole lot for me... The alternative was 1.5 pounds of tofu or soy a day. I didn't think that was healthy, so I didn't try it. I HATE the outcome & results I got. Plus, I don't trust them. Other people are happy with their results. That is good. I tried to see past the advertising & signed up for the program. I tried to think that maybe his diet would work for me, I just didn't know what it would be until too late (money paid & contract signed); but, I just couldn't believe it was good for me once I found out what it was.
Then since I was desparate when I signed up- not really able to afford it, but really wanting help - or to get in good shape & health, I signed up. Hopefully anyone considering this program can know & make the best decision for them.
If you sign up for a year contract (or in my case 6 months): the price comes out to be about $20/workout (@ 3 times a week). The 6 month contract would usually be a little bit more. They advertised for a 6 week program, but told me that for the results I wanted, it should be a year or 6 month minimum.
I felt good some workouts. But did have some body pains before staring (sometimes) & hoped they could help me exercise correctly so I wouldn't injure myself or keep having the pain. One Saturday morning workout I told the instructor/coach (title??) that my shoulder hurt doing push ups, so he had me do them at an incline & that hurt more. So, I am kind of really disappointed.

Let me first start out by saying that my review is not of the actual program run by John Madsen. From everything I've read, the actual program is probably really good and helpful.

My review is based solely on my experiences and I just feel that what I experienced wasn't okay and I'd hate for other people to go in blind. Life is already hard enough, you don't need to go to this place and experience what I experienced.

A couple years ago, when I saw an ad for a free program for women to lose weight, I jumped on the opportunity. When I went in for the orientation, it turned out it was one of those programs where you pay X amount of money and then if you lose a certain amount of fat, you'll get that money back. The point that Mr. Madsen made was that by paying money, it ensured that I'd be invested. When I raised my hand and asked how I'd know he was invested, especially as by my losing that weight meant he'd be losing money, he wasn't very happy. He basically ignored the question and instead said that if we couldn't make the decision to pay immediately then we weren't committed and we should leave. So I left, not because I wouldn't have paid given some reassurances, but because his response made me feel attacked and like I wasn't even worth his time. I won't lie. I don't have great self-esteem, so it hurt my self-esteem to be talked to like that.

Flash forward to six months ago. I was once again scouring the internet for work out and weight loss secrets (yessss...I'm still trying to get in better shape), and what should pop up on my facebook but an add for a free six week program. I'm instantly suspicious, but decide it can't hurt to check it out. Lo and behold, it takes me to John Madsen performance. As wary as I was, I scheduled another orientation. Unsurprisingly, there is no free program. When I ask about the free program, the gal running the orientation looks awkward and then says they don't do a free program. I turn to the other girl in the orientation with me, who confirms that she also saw an ad for a free program. Long story short, I don't write off Athletic and Fit immediately...I take a tour and ask for a free workout to try it out, thinking that maybe it is worth the money. Not long after I leave, I get a text from them. Basically, they act like I was lying about having seen a free six week program and then try to tell me they don't do those "Free" six week challenges. I can let go the abruptness of the text, but the worst part of all this was the poor girl in that orientation with me...she was quite over weight and she said this telling line as I was talking with her, "People like them don't understand what it's like for people like me. I feel trapped by my weight and I want so badly to lose it, but I don't have that kind of money. I feel like they just tried to lure me in with a free advertisement and then try to get me to spend money by hitting me where it hurts: my weight." My heart went out to this girl. I don't care anymore how good your program is or how well it works, it's not okay for you to use false advertising to prey on and abuse people's self esteem.

Also, full disclosure, I never did get that free workout to see if it was even a good program. I freely admit that I'm a little miffed by that, too.

Just finished up with the 6-week challenge. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to hit my 20 pound goal, so I doubled down, followed the diet, did the workouts (at 5:00 AM mind you), and ended up losing 28 pounds!

Let me start by saying the 6 week program is great and I would give it 5 stars hands down, but my review is for the 6month program which I was disappointed in.
the longer program was
- very unorganized
- no goals, weigh-ins, accountability etc.
- did not receive food/ diet guidelines till 3months in
- Rudeness from 1 new employee to me ( she put me in tears more than once)
- you have to have a facebook to communicate and was told to get one if you didn't have one
- did nothing to remedy or even listen to my concerns when brought up
- Last did not set up and cancel my xcell contract right so was over charged from them
I could go on but long story short what started great ended so disappointing. I find my self wishing the 6month program was as good as the 6week, because if it was I would still be going for the long term ....in the end i felt like just a check to them not a person :(

I just finished my 6week challenge, I lost over 22 lbs and had a wonderful experience! I have more energy love the nutrition plan and the traininers are so motivating, you can tell they really enjoy their job and want you to do your best! Thank you for this experience, I will definitely be back and all my friends and family will hear about this program ❀️

I just completed my 6-week challenge, and it was so incredible! I was fairly fit before starting this program, but was really looking for something to push me past my plateau and truly challenge me to improve my fitness level. JMP did exactly that. The group workouts with supportive, knowledgable trainers and the easy-to-follow nutrition plan produced incredible results for me, and I highly recommend this to anyone, of any fitness level. Loved this so much!

This program is incredible!!! I have never seen such quick results in my entire life! I participated in their Six Week Challenge and loved it! It was hard, it was a challenge, and it wasn't always fun to say no to donuts and bagels and pasta. It WAS satisfying and fulfilling to conquer bad habits and see results. It was SO much fun working out in a group setting and feeling the change over time. If you're looking for an intense workout, for someone to push you, and for results, JMP is the place to be. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is serious about their fitness goals.

I have tried other fitness programs before but this was incredibly focused, detailed and showed results much quicker than I had anticipated . The group classes helped tremendously , the personal trainers are caring and patient to us newbies that struggle to stay fit .

I struggled so much my first day almost fainted but came back my 2 nd day, finished out my first week and felt amazing . Get through the first week or 2 and you will feel incredible !

I would suggest John Madsen to anyone trying to get into shape !

Great team to work with. Not only are the trainers incredible, I loved building relationships with those in my class. In 6 weeks John helped me lose 8 pounds of body fat, 4.2% BMI and that was all with a trip to Ireland---so I promise you it's possible if you trust the process!

As a former high school athlete and lately an amateur runner, I've felt "fit" most of my life. Hitting rock bottom after twins at 40, I found JMP and for the first time in my life I feel physically STRONG!

The work-friendly schedule, safe and progressive weight regime, the awesome and knowledgeable trainers - all helped me drop 20# and gain muscles I've never had before!

I recently wanted to partake in one of the fitness challenges and had the opportunity to see he facility and meet Mr Madsen. First of all, the facility is amazing! John and his team have their own functional training area within a larger super high tech and very clean fitness facility so as a participant, you get full access to everything. I was most impressed by his attitude and overall knowledge. This is not your typical CrossFit-type place. He is highly qualified and certified as a Strength and Conditioning coach, as is his staff. This is one of the most difficult certifications to get and their level of knowledge is demonstrated by their overall attitude and demeanor. I loved the focus on technique and individuality- they create personalize workouts and mealplans for each person and Truly seem invested in each individual. They prioritize long term change and development instead of quick results with a non sustainable crash-diet and workout plan. I am a physician who grew up playing sports and being surrounded by training as both of my parents are personal trainers and I can say without a doubt that this group is one of the most impressive. They are also very willing to work with you- I have a crazy and erratic schedule but this was no deterrent to the team. Overall, I was super impressed. I will definitely be coming back!

john Madsen i would say he is a lier! If i have to give 0 star i would they are running this business from scamming lying. I saw ad on facebook about 6 week free challenge so i end up making appointment they give me the appointment when i went to the place i had to wait an hour and then john madsen came started exciting me i will loose weight i will look good bla bla finally after half our introduction he said it would cost $550. I said no thats not what you said on the facebook ad. He said oh yeah thats just to get people in but i can’t do this for free! What??? Seriously he wasted my time & my gas. I left the place. Dont fall in his facebook ads its all scam.

John Madsen and team knows the formula to see desired results! Before working with them, I would never work out for a full hour, much less call it fun! They made the workouts tough, but enjoyable. The nutrition plan told me exactly what to eat, while still giving me lots of options...and after 6 weeks of the program I lost 5.9% body fat! I would highly recommend this program to anyone to wants to see results! It's worth it!

I loved my time with JMP, and can unreservedly recommend their program to anyone looking to make some positive changes in life. From the get go, with the review of nutrition and workout expectations, it was clear what I needed to do to succeed, and I felt confident that as long as I followed their instructions, I would meet my goals – and I did! 21.7lbs and 4.4% body fat gone!
Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday Brayden and Alec were in there getting us pumped with positivity and great tunes to work out to. I particularly appreciated how they were especially attentive to each individual’s abilities and needs. They made sure that no one got hurt, and that we were pushing ourselves.
The other participants were also a great group of people to work with. I loved how encouraging and positive everyone was – sharing stories of what works, and what doesn’t. Even stories or a good recipe or β€˜homework’ as we called it – extra work outs, outside of the weekly three with the trainers.
Heaps of fun! And I am stronger and have more energy and stamina than I have had in years! Highest recommendation!

My girlfriend just signed up for your free program that you advertised on facebook, in the advertisement you claim that your six week fitness program is FREE and that you will pay for the food in the diet portion of the program. NONE of this is true and is false advertisement. It cost her $460 plus the cost of food which was over $100 for just the first week. I find it disgusting that you would lie to better market your company and prey on those who are trying to better their lives and health. You claim to refund the a portion of that if she meets her goal. Which you say is motivation to meet the goal. In no way does that help build confidence or better a persons self-esteem. Not to mention the fact that you're just dishonest in your marketing campaign. You should honor you're advertisement and not be dishonest to those who looked to you for guidance to better personal health. It's called Integrity, have some.

John is always very positive and supportive. His training really enhances athletic performance. Our son (5'11") was playing on his AAU basketball team and was blocking shots of guys who were 6'3" and taller and getting rebounds in there with the bigs and parents of his teammates were asking what he's doing to jump so high. I tell everyone that he's been training with John Madsen. It's hard work but it's all the right stuff and it works.

I first had the opportunity to meet John back in 2011 when my son had a burning desire to play High School football. He would be a senior that fall and had only stepped on the field 1 time during his first three years of H.S. He had gained weight and a lot of it and it made it difficult for him to move the way he needed to.

John, took the challenge to transform our son and transform him he did! He lost close to 60 lbs and put on muscle, gained greater agility, and increased speed. He went on to earn a starting position on a team that finished 10-2 in the 5A ranks and has been blessed to continue his dream where he has started all but 4 games during his first 3 years of College. John did more than just transform our son Physically, he also allowed him to dream and believe in himself.

We are now on round two with our younger son. I would never allow my son to go anywhere else because John Madsen changes lives of those who have a dream and a desire to to succeed!

By far, the best training experience we've had. I don't think I could say enough about John and his staff. His program is set up for results, PERIOD! He pushes his athletes beyond what they believe they can do and builds their confidence. Our son has put on 30 lbs. of muscle in 7 months. He has jumped up several levels in speed and power. People comment on his speed all the time. He is playing baseball right now. He's increased his throwing speed by 10 miles per hour in just 5 months. He's driving the ball to the fence on a consistent basis. The increase in power has been very noticeable. We can't wait for football season to start! Best decision we've ever made for our son. I've been going to John's facility for 5 years now and I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else or even consider switching. Training is top notch, best of the best athletes train there. If you want to take your talents to the next level whether it is ( football, baseball, basketball, track, hockey, etc.) Don't even hesitate and go sign up with John and his staff. Not only does he teach training and all the fitness side, he always is an amazing mentor for the youth and adults. He teaches how to get ready for adulthood, and how to succeed after sports or athletics is eventually fulfilled. John is the man. When you here about John Madsen Performance you may think it's for your boys. Our daughter joined the JMP TEAM a couple of years ago and I can't say enough about her experiences there with John and the other trainers! We had a female athlete that wanted to get to the next level and JMP was instrumental in getting her there. She learned a ton, gained confidence and of course strength. She is constantly complimented on her lifting form which is so critical in strength training. She is going to college with a great foundation in weight training and a four year athletic scholarship. John is fabulous for so many reasons but the biggest one is he truly cares about his athletes. Our daughter still keeps in touch with him and his gym will be one she visits when she's home on summer break. Thank you John!
