This is a great place to take Gymnastics!!

My daughter went to this place for 3 years and learned absolutely nothing. She stayed at the same beginner level the whole time - never moved up once.
I met them a few times asking why she wasn't improving. They kept saying they'd check on her progress and move her up. That never happened. Not once did a teacher try to help her get better or tell us she was struggling. Nobody from the gym ever called to say "hey, your daughter needs extra help" or anything like that.
When I finally asked them about it, they said "oh the teachers are supposed to give feedback after every class." Well guess what? That never happened either. Not in 3 years.
We threw away so much money every single month for nothing. My daughter got nowhere and nobody cared enough to even tell us. They just kept taking our payments while my kid sat there doing the same stuff over and over.
Don't waste your time and money here like we did. Find somewhere that actually teaches kids and talks to parents.

My son has been doing the Olympus Tots program- first in Mom&Me and now in the 3-4 yr class. Great program! I don’t think he will be a gymnast ultimately but it has been a wonderful experience. His current coach, Sarah, is phenomenal! She sets really clear expectations for behavior and what each child is doing at what time. It’s wonderfully structured so they are learning things like waiting, following directions, and taking turns, while having fun and moving their bodies in new ways! My 18 month old baby can’t wait to start ;)

My daughter has had a great time at Olympus gymnastics in the tots program! Not only does she learn gymnastics skills, but her coach teaches the kids to listen and respect not only her but also the other kids. They work on multiple different gymnastics skills each week but there is also routine in stretching at the beginning and closing on a good note with stamps! 1000% recommend.

I really love the gym itself. But I am in x- cel and it is super hard to switch in to level and I have also had a super hard time with coaches and my team.

We had come to a birthday party here for my daughters friend a few months ago and she was eager to try gymnastics after having a blast at the party so we tried the trial class and sadly won’t be returning. Originally, we were disappointed to see there weren’t any introductions for her or warm welcomes to introduce herself or the others in class but moved past that thinking they just needed to get going. As we watched, we noticed both coaches seeming to be distracted and talking with each other. At times, one was hands on helping our daughter more so than the other but I was really upset and disturbed when we watched them laugh when our daughter was performing a push up incorrectly. The one coach was shrugging to the other with her hand up like our daughter was helpless and that’s just really disappointing and unnecessary. Of course it hurts to see your child being laughed at but it also is just really uncalled for. There are so many new things happening, hence the reason she was in beginner and as a business, you just miss the mark by not remembering that these kids are new to this and these moves. We continued to watch and again, each new place on the floor they moved to was yet again with no demonstration and little instruction or attention to them so it was all over the place. I get that they’re teaching a certain level of toughness but I think it could go a lot further with more compassion, kindness and even a smile. I hope this feedback can be provided as a way for the coaches to make other kids’ experience a more positive and safe place rather than what our daughter experienced. Let’s raise them up and help them to see if this is their passion rather than tearing them down and being so defeating. They’re too little and innoncent to be shown and treated with those behaviors so early on.

Pros:
Olympus really focuses on form and technique. The coaches know gymnastics really well and we former athletes. The facility is top notch. They are arguably the best gym in salt lake.

Cons:
Olympus's culture isn't great. They are expensive in comparison. The communication is terrible. The teachers play favorites. Any level below hotshots is a waste of time and money. If you don't already know the gymnastics world educate yourself before coming here.

Advice:
If your child wants to be the best and you can afford it go here but, plan on paying for private lessons to keep up. Don't rely on the office staff, complain to them or expect good communication from the coaches.

So we had gone here my daughter was doing good, due to her not being stretched or warmed up she has injured her knee it has not gotten better sense then. I've even gone to front desk and complained everyday they did not warm them up or stretched them out she was 5 years old. Now we are still dealing with knee issues so frustrating they could have avoided it by warming them up stretching them out. My youngest 3 year old had class they had 5 year old showing her what to do. I have pictures of it cute. But really what isb5 year old going to teach a 3 year old how to hold her body and legs. Hope they have gotten better sense but we will not be coming back. There good for older girls I've noticed when we where there.

Olympus is a great gym for girls gymnastics. They helped push our daughter to perform better than she had done at other gyms. They are strict on requirements to move up to the next level which is hard when the gymnast wants to move up but can't until they can score high enough on evaluations but great for helping them perform, score, and place well.

I had my Level 9 daughter here and currently my Level 8 daughter goes here. Both have made good friendships and continued to progress in gymnastics. The main reason I made the switch to this gym is because my oldest was in need of teammates on her level and a lower stress, positive competition environment. She previously had great coaches but was missing the "team & teammates" aspect. She LOVED the positive energy at competitions here and even though she had to quit due to injury she finished her gymnastics "career" with the BEST competing experience she got from Olympus. My current gymnast is a Level 8 and her coaches communicate as needed, and I have no concerns about her progress because their progressions are sound. Every gym has pluses and minuses, if you want to be catered to this gym is probably not for you. They have a huge program and unless your kid is extremely talented they're not going to get special treatment. HOWEVER, if they want to learn good gymnastics and progress, this is a great gym for that. :)

I want to love Olympus but after taking a couple year break and bringing my toddler I still left feeling awful. They aren’t flexible, the office is windowed off with closed windows always making you wait in front until they’re ready to open. It’s just not the vibe and it’s a bummer because I have 3 girls in gymnastics and this is the closest gym but I drive 40 minutes away and I was reminded why today. It’s a very strict gym with great athletes, it’s just not for me or my daughters.

My 8 year old takes here and she receives great instruction. We really like her current teacher, Sophie Belchak. She really cares about the progress of her students. She has sent surveys to parents to see where she can improve as a coach and occasionally awards with special treats for achievements. Coach gets 5 stars (which is biggest reason for updated review).

The facility is amazing. Equipment in top shape. Bright and well lit. Feels safe. Facility gets 5 stars.

Because they are so big it's run like a machine. After you get over the stress of how many kids are there at the same time, it's actually quite impressive how they function. I wish it were less crowded, but I don't think it effects my child's progress. You may feel like just a number in lower levels due to the amount of students and changes in instructors. They do offer makeup classes, which can be difficult to attend due to only being Sat. mornings and credits expire. However, other facilities often do not offer makeup classes. Environment/culture 3 stars.

I have reached out to the company/owner a few times via email. Once a very hopeful upbeat email with an idea I had. I put a lot of thought into writing it so I felt pretty bad they never responded. No "love your passion, wish we could accommodate, but we can't" acknowledgement. Other private communication has felt condescending. Perhaps I misinterpreted tone due to my disappointment... This is another reason for my update as I may have been unfair in this area. Communication to parents about changes, etc is great. Overall 3 stars for communication.

I suggest doing trial class at different places to see what's right for you. I enjoy the adult tumbling at Wasatch Trampoline and Tumbling. My niece takes at Bailey's and a friend's child takes at Pinnacle and they are both having good experiences.

This review is specifically for the ninja program. Not that there is anything super wrong with the program, it's just very limited and my son was standing around waiting to take his turn most of the hour. Which was difficult for him since he is incredibly high energy. It's also pretty expensive for what they offer. We went to another gym that is a ninja specific and are much happier there. That being said we will probably take my daughter here when she is old enough to take a gymnastics class.

Signed my 3 year old for up for gymnastics for a year. I ended my service and ended my payments the same day. They attempted to charge us an additional month because they needed a termination letter, mailed in, a month in advance? Ridiculous. Now attempting to collect through a collection agency for a month of gymnastics we never signed up for, or ever attended. Dirty business practices. Will never recommend to friends/family.

I’ll start by saying, the gym itself and staff were great.

What is NOT so great is needing to cancel or stop any services at all. They require a 30 day notice. That’s fine, and pretty common. So we proceed to cancel through their app as they indicate. Well guess what? No cancellation option there. We then proceed to message them directly on their app to cancel and possibly receive further assistance…no response. We call and leave multiple voicemails on how to cancel…again no response! This is now approaching scam level actions that do not allow for life changes or membership cancellations. BEWARE!!! Hopefully reaching out to the BBB will have someone here at Olympus finally get back in touch with me.

EDIT: Olympus did contact me after leaving this review, and did help me cancel the classes needed.

I will however stand by my previous issues of poor communication and an app and parent portal that does not include needed information or clear correspondence methods. DO NOT use their portal system to contact! Go in person, call, or use a method outside of the app or web portal!

I do not recommend signing up for Monday classes. The facility is closed every holiday and you pay for a full month's tuition. Most holidays land on a Monday and for the month of July we only met twice. I asked if the Monday classes would be allowed a make up class since we paid the full month tuition and only met half the time. Their response is there are some months that have 5 weeks and tuition is the same for
those months. There are more Monday holidays than any other day of the week.

Some teachers are great and others show no interest. My daughter has been enrolled for a year now and has shown some strength gain but hasn't progressed a ton. The classes are packed full and most of the time there is only 1 teacher per class session. The tuition is twice the price as a rec center and the experience is somewhat similar. I do like the option of having a makeup class. Though the class has been moved to Saturday due to staffing issues.

Poor customer service from front desk and supervisor. Rec classes were just ok. Before I signed up, I wanted to make sure my kids could make up their classes that we would miss for travel. They said I could but that the only make up day was Friday. That worked for us. A couple weeks into the lessons, they abruptly changed the make up day to Saturday only. When I let them know that it wouldn't work for us that day because of our schedule and asked them to work with me (either allow us to make up on another day or refund just the class we miss) they wouldn't. They were unkind and didn't acknowledge that they should try to work with me when they changed their policy. Not even a sincere apology for the change. I tried reaching out to the owner to resolve it (I had been working with the supervisor at the front desk) and got no response.

*In response to the owner's reply below--the employee Xandra told me that there was a makeup policy for Fridays only when I signed up. I asked because I wanted to make sure it worked for me. Olympus then sent an email saying that the only day makeups could happen were on Saturday. I understand that changes sometimes happen for staffing reasons--it's the poor customer service response when those changes affect people. Just sincerely apologize and empathize with people. The response below isn't an actual apology either--it's just saying "sorry to hear of your frustration." They don't know how to treat customers well, which is why when I do sign my kids up for regular gymnastics we will go elsewhere and recommend the same for our friends.

Lot Many students and doesn’t get good attention for individual.
Main important , worse cancellation policy
If you can’t submit request from the website before 15th then next month is mandatory to pay
Never saw such pathetic policy
They do have parent portal which has option to add the class but no option to cancel it
Isn’t that amazing , ridiculous .
Also when you submit request on website for cancellation , you won’t get confirmation about the request
This is kind of getting one month’s additional fees by force
Will not recommend to anyone

Not recommend!!!! I signed up my daughter to learn Gymnastics here and paid a month fee (4 sessions). We decided to not send her anymore after her first session because there were so many people there and I didn’t see any kids or coaches wear a mask at this point that COVID-19 cases a lot of goes up, especially for kids. Then I asked to freeze the rest of sessions if it’s possible. or it’s fine for us to paid a month fee, even though we just sent my daughter one time there. I think that I am kind enough to not ask a refund, but The drama responded by them is that we have to pay two month fees because they have 30 days advance notice sign out policy!! Seriously????!!!!

*****False advertising and completely taken advantage of!
We signed our daughter up this week to start gymnastics, (I didn’t know until we got there that they had a free trial class) anyways we did our research on their website that they were following strict Covid guidelines and everyone was wearing masks, that each child was bringing their own water bottles and when we got there we found that none of this was happening. My daughter is now home sick, I called and asked for a refund and was told that they could not refund me. After making a big deal about their website vs what was actually happening I was told that they could give me some money back. So essentially I paid $50 for a one hour class that my daughter got sick from! Michelle at the front desk was very unhelpful!!!! I work for a local hospital and will NOT be recommending them!

I have two daughters at Olympus Gymnastics; one who has been competing on team for 4+ years and one who is just getting started with the sport. We have been with Olympus for 6 years and have nothing but great things to say about our lengthy experience with this club. I am highly engaged in all of my children’s sports whether it be wrestling, soccer, swimming, dance or gymnastics and have high expectations of those I allow to influence their lives. Olympus absolutely meets those standards! The coaches care deeply about the child as a whole. They not only provide incredible professional technique, putting high priority on quality drills and strength conditioning to prevent injury, but on the flip side, they also understand the personal and relational level...the value of the coach/athlete foundation of trust, and they do an amazing job of customizing their instruction to the individual’s needs. Through a positive gym culture, my girls have been taught discipline, self-worth, team work, how to be goal-oriented and achieve greatness through dedication. These life skills trickle over into their academics, friendships, home lives and I SEE the benefits everyday. I am so grateful to have Olympus Gymnastics and their coaches be a part of our lives, helping me shape strong, confident young women.

As a parent of a level 10 gymnast who is committed to a college, I can tell you that you will not find a gym with a nicer facility or equipment. You will also not find coaches who are as committed to the success and happiness of each girl. Ryan and Jess are not only extremely knowledgeable concerning the sport of gymnastics, but very understanding with injuries and allow each gymnast to listen to their own bodies when it comes to the number of reps they practice and the types of skills they perform. They also make practice fun and have great sense of humors.
No gym in the world is perfect, but you will not find better than Olympus.

Our 13 year old daughter has been a gymnast at Olympus Gymnastics for 7 years. Watching her transformation in gymnastics has been both impressive and enjoyable. Her coaches are all incredibly experienced, and are always motivating her to give her best effort. She has also been coached for many years by the owner of Olympus, who has created a positive environment that allows gymnasts to thrive as athletes. The trust my daughter has in her coaches is evident by her relationship with each of them. Every year we get the pleasure of watching our daughter's teammates graduate and go on to compete in college gymnastics. They all come in to train when they are home, and the energy in the gym is so exciting on these days because they are all great role models for the young gymnasts who aspire to follow in their footsteps. Our daughter leaves the gym every single day in a good mood and proud of what she accomplished in her workout. The training and conditioning program the gymnasts follow is designed to minimize injuries. We feel fortunate that our daughter has had very few injuries over the span of 7 years, as gymnastics is a high intensity sport and injuries are not always avoidable. Olympus is not a gym where coaches allow gymnasts to try skills before they are ready. They emphasize proper technique and skill progression and repetition before a skill is allowed to be attempted. This is where the term "trust the process" comes from. The coaches have always been very kind and patient with our daughter, who sometimes struggles to make corrections and perfect skills. She has never been the top gymnast in her level, (she has progressed from level 3 her first year to competing level 9 this year), but her coaches have continually been encouraging and always find a way to acknowledge her strengths. This positive and supportive coaching style makes her beam with pride and keeps her motivated to continue to improve and be the best she can be. Her teammates are always supportive of each other and their friendships extend beyond their time in the gym The facility is huge, extremely clean and one of the nicest in the country. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of gymnastics for their child or who is looking for a new home for their gymnast to take advantage of the free trial classes offered to see if this is the right fit for your family. There are always going to be many 5 star reviews and a few that make you cringe, but the only way to know if a gym is the right place for your child is to experience it for yourself. My daughter loves Olympus and there is no place she would rather be.

Originally we were super happy with the Ninja class that was offered for ages 4-6. There was a great coach named Eliza who is now gone. We pulled our son out of the class recently because they have too many kids in class. They should either add a second coach or keep the classes smaller. Kids don’t listen to the coach and start acting up so overall it seems like not much is accomplished. There was one instance where an older boy started pushing a younger boy around and the coach didn’t even notice.

This place is in need of some serious help. I have read some of the other reviews and see the responses from the owner stating that they don’t know or have record of a person posting with this name. Just so everyone is aware this is not my personal name but a different email I use. But I have been involved with Olympus gymnastics for a very long time. Since they have moved to their new facility things have gone downhill very quickly. All you have to do is show up and see how many people are being crammed into this new gym. I urge you to take a look at the coaches and see how young and uninvolved they are while the kids are practicing. Ryan K is the owner of this facility and has been for a long time but since the move to the new place they have lost many of their experienced coaches . Thay have way too many people in the gym at one time. For the money, the time and everything that parents and children put into this sport there are better options. Please look again before you sign up there.

Great Gymnastics program that pushes their athletes to be their personal best. In our experience (6 years) coaches are engaged and passionate and they care about the young people they work with. That starts at the top with the gym ownership. As any coach in any sport will say, some young people respond to one way of coaching, others respond to a different way they’re pushed and coached. I’ve appreciated the different approaches taken by different coaches to build and strengthen my daughters both physically and mentally. Our daughters are progressing and having fun while working hard...they love it!

I would not recommend. Not what they used to be. I went here from 1995-2000 and they were very serious and pushed us. My daughter has gone 2 years and is about the same age as I was when I attended, and I would be surprised if the coaches actually knew her name. From watching others, they seem to put time into girls on team, but anything else is basically overpriced daycare at a gym. There was an issue with my daughter- none of her coaches checked up on her or returned any phone calls and the owner didn’t care when I expressed my frustration at how impersonal they have been. Super disappointing.

Updated review-
Though we had some issues about class placement, the school resolved it. The teachers are good, and my daughter loves coming here.

I have been associated with Olympus Gymnastics for 10 years. My daughter was a gymnast here. Ryan was her bar coach and helped her get a full ride gymnastic scholarship to Oregon State University! Her college coaches told me that Olympus is one of only a few gymnastic gyms in Utah that they come to look at to recruit new gymnasts. During her college career, she was welcomed back to work out during the summer and times when she was back in Utah. They are an amazing gym with great coaches. Their recreation program is set up for success with options for girls that really want to follow the gymnast path or for those that just love it as a fun thing to do.

Can I just say that Olympus Gymnastics has been a huge blessing in my daughters life. My gymnast has been a part of the Olympus gymnastics family for 8 years now. My daughter is going into her 4th season as a level 10 gymnast. She like most every gymnast has been through a series of ups and downs which I believe comes with the sport. She has battled on and off injuries through out the last 4 years and I have to say that with out her amazing coaches by her side and her teammates Im not sure she would have stayed in the sport. Today my daughter is who she is because of this gym. She is strong, kind, motivated, successful and an all around an amazing young lady who is thriving and working toward her dream of being a collegiate Gymnast. Thank you Olympus. This is by far the best gym to have your child at in the state of Utah.

My two girls have been at Olympus for 3 1/2 years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this gym and the coaching staff. Gymnastics is a hard and time consuming sport and they have given my girls the confidence and discipline to succeed far beyond their gymnastics careers. We love this team and theses coaches so so much!

My daughter has been at Olympus for about four years now. It is her second home, and is her favorite place to be. She loves her coaches and teammates like they are family. The coaching staff knows what they are doing, and I feel like they truly care about my child. The rec coaches are so fun and are trained very well. So grateful we chose to take our daughter to Olympus!

Great coaches who care about my child as a gymnast and as a person. I know when I drop her off that she is in capable hands. They have helped shape her into a competitive gymnast and a confident, disciplined little girl.

I love Olympus Gymnastics I went here for six years and it helped me make amazing friendships and is a great involvement for children to learn how to grow and become independent. I learned not only how to do gymnastics but how to have good relationships with my coaches and teammates. I was such a bad gymnast but my coaches were always there to encourage me and push me to do my very best. They believe that anyone can do anything they can put there mind too. Not only are the coaches fair and honest they will praise you for your achievements but they will also help guide you when your struggling. Now the coaches are human and have there off days just like all kids, parents, teachers, and the whole entire human species, so we can’t expect 100 percent perfection from them every day all day but because of there amazing reputation Olympus gymnastics has very high standards for there coaches. Olympus is the best gymnastics training center in Utah and is one of the nicest facilities as it’s brand new. It does have wheelchair access and all new equipment. The owner and head coach of the gym is one of the top uneven bars coaches in the country. They have some of the most amazing athletes training at this gym and becauseof this they have a stricter workout schedule and moving up levels is harder, and it’s all because they want there athletes to be as healthy mentally and physically as possible so they are prepared to preform more advanced skills. Most parents have a hard time with there conditioning pass offs because there athlete didn’t pass off or advance and they take it out on the coaches when it’s not there fault. The coaches only do these pass offs to make sure the athlete is less prone to an injure, and doing a harder skill then there body can handle at that time is a fast way to get injured. Olympus Gymnastics is an amazing gym that loves there athletes and, works to help them progress as efficiently and safely as posible.

Olympus has been a part of our lives for last 5 years and before that I had an older daughter that did the rec program. We have always been super impressed with the quality of their coaches, the impressive athletes they produce and the positive atmosphere that exists at this gym. My daughter is currently a level 9 gymnast. She has excelled at this sport because of her coaches and teammates at Olympus! Through the ups and downs of this competitive sport she has had the support of all these amazing people. Watching Olympus athletes compete shows the amazing quality of their coaching. We love this gym and love our Olympus family!

My daughter was at this gym for 3 years before we moved out of state. She loved it before we moved and the difference between Olympus and the other gyms she attended was huge! She came back to Olympus with a lot of self confidence issues and they have been amazing. She is back to the old self she was before we moved and loving everything about what she is doing. I cannot say enough good about this gym. Her coaches are VERY well trained and definitely know what they are doing. We love Olympus! The facility, coaches, staff, owners, gymnasts and parents are amazing!

I am a gymnast at Olympus Gymnastics and I advanced so much, I was in bronze and now I am in gold in only six months. The coach's are so supportive and helpful. The atmosphere is amazing you get welcomed right when you step through the front door. You can also get private coaching from some of the top coaches.

No flexibility with make up days. If there is a holiday and your class is cancelled you still pay the same. If you miss your day there are no options to make up classes. It would be nice if they have some classes that are not full you could sign up and make your class up. Also for small children there is no formal check out process. Literally your child could walk out the door and no one makes sure the parent is down stairs waiting for the child.

The feeling at this gym has changed in the past few months. Much less approachable, less concern for the development of the recreational gymnast. My granddaughter spends half the session sitting or standing around. Lead coaches don’t seem to be concerned about consistency of the coaching quality. Student to coach ratios run 7-8 to one. Often a skill is repeated only once or twice a week, at times, some students don’t have an opportunity to practice a skill others have practiced that session. Do not expect much progression for a recreational gymnast past silver as the quality of coaching and class size does not promote advancement.

My daughter has been attending Olympus since she was 3 years old. She is now 6 and the level of coaching you experience at Olympus is the very best/ highest level. Their team has some of the top gymnasts in the country and their facility is state of the art.
After 3 years with Olympus we would recommend them to any of our friends or family.

It is a nice facility with lots of equipment. It is getting a bit dated and rough around the edges. All that said, the kids had a blast and there was plenty of space and different activities to keep them entertained and moving.

We LOVE this place. My daughter has been a gymnast here for almost 5 years and has done nothing but improve. She loves her coaches and team mates so much! My daughter tore her ACL last season and I have been so impressed with the care they have given her and the ability they have had to get her back to 100% again. She is now back to full gymnastics ready to start a new season thanks to her awesome coaches.

We've been with Olympus for over two years now and are very pleased to be at Mary Wright's facility with her background in training Elite and Olympic gymnasts. Luci Collins 1980 Olympic team, Marie Rothliserger 1984 Olympic Team, Kathy Johnson 1980 & 1984 Olympic team, Jessica Duke who won level 10 Junior Olympic All-Around competed at Univ Of Utah and now coaches at Olympus, Jacey Draper International Elite Gymnast who coaches here, too, to name a few.

Coaching: Our coach, Heidi, is extremely good at training the team safely with a strong emphasis on excellent form, great conditioning, helping the girls excel at new skills when they are ready, and outstanding team spirit. My daughter has struggled with ankle issues for about a month, and our coach is consistently communicating her concerns and thoughts about that with us. My daughter is not the type to show she is having pain, but Heidi explained last week how she knows. She was SPOT ON. It's very subtle and only I've known the clue, but Heidi knew it! There was a bit of coach turnover on the level 3 comp year for us, but for Level 4 (and apparently up) the coaching has been consistent.

Competitions: After competing in meets for 2 years I am so pleased at the strong emphasis on good sportsmanship. My daughter and her team mates have complimented and cheered for their teammates in and out of competition and done the same for other teams. We have been to many meets, and my daughter has complemented other team athletes on their performance. Interestingly, most of them usually responded with a snide remark instead of "thank you". That really surprised her and disappointed me. I'm pleased that the coaches instill that great team spirit regardless of the facility the athlete is from since you never know if you'll end up on a future team together in college or elsewhere. By the end of the meet season last year our team took 1st place at every meet and won the State meet. Apparently that has been true for many years. So this is a great organization to be a part of if you have any longterm interest for your daughter.

Longterm Goal: Which brings up another point, this gym is focused on getting these girls groomed for college scholarships in gymnastics. As a parent, I really appreciate that with the investment involved. The goal is not to rush the girls through levels they are not ready to compete just to move them up the chain. They safely advance them when they are ready and are conditioned to handle the level they are moving to. So far 5 of the 10 level 10's have been invited to compete at the collegiate level when they go off to college next fall. I don't believe the other 5 are graduating this spring.

Expenses: This is an expensive sport at the competition level, so be prepared for more than you anticipated no matter what facility you choose. There will be tuition, meet fees (roughly $500 this year for the meets we chose), coaches fees(roughly $25 meet), leotards to buy (they are unexpectedly expensive so keep your competition leo's at home for just use in competition, about $200 GK brand - which re-sells on ebay well), sweat suit (about $250), and any travel expenses. I came into this completely clueless and was very shocked at the expenses, so hopefully this forewarning takes the shock out of that part and helps you prepare. After talking with a friend whose son competed in So. Cal. and spent more money 10 years ago in that state then we do here today, I consider this part of the investment now. Each meet pays for judges (unaffiliated with the gyms), facility rental if their gym is too small to host, medal and trophy purchases, and more, so each meet can range dramatically in cost.

This is a financial commitment but know you will get great training and safety here, good team building skills, and a chance for a scholarship if carried through, all at a facility with leaders experienced in all levels of competition.
