Stayed in town for the month- I went to the PF in south of salt lake…..weird vibes. But the downtown location 10/10! Javen ,Eric , meldog? and a tattooed guy in gray shirt. Super engaging with people and myself. Facility is great and super clean! Everything is spaced out and the layout is 10/10. The only downside is the showers…..I think an upgrade is long overdue. But overall service 10/10.

This is a very well organised and welcoming experience. This is a huge huge huge gem with each of the workout zones stationed in an efficient spacious way. The staff are extremely friendly. They even prompted us to scan their planet fitness QR code so that the parking we had already paid for would be cancelled and free parking would be allowed. The car park is spacious and there are a lot of signs Peter park however when you go into planet fitness if you are a member or a user, then they will cancel the parking payment and you scanned the QR code and everything is free. Thank you so much for welcoming us to the gym. We will be back.for sure.

The customer service is terrible, though when I believe I am the only patron to attend on a mobility scooter yet still have the courage to workout, and I am also the only one I see treated this way, I believe they think I am faking things and are judging me. My wife has observed and feels the same. On the few times I have needed to address issues, Javan has been egregiously rude, and I know she trash talked me to Erick after, behind my back, because yesterday on a legitimate issue, he talked down to me, swearing over his glasses and talking like I lost my marbles! Now that I know the owner monitors this, you may wish to find more competent management before this becomes an ADA complaint. My wife already stopped attending due to management "gymtimidation," and we will be making a discrimination complaint to corporate tonight.

This place is a gem. Everything else in SLC has blown up into an unrecognizable, bastardized conglomeration of ever-other-city-ish in America. We've been amalgamated and with that has come crowds no true local SLC person can recognize or stand. NOT HERE! There is never a crowd. The people who work out at this gym are not pretentious. They're not aggressive. They're not territorial. They don't stare you down. The staff is fantastically helpful. They keep the place clean and are cheerful. The bathrooms are not great but they are good enough for me to dump all my other memberships and call this place home. Everything you want from a gym. All the things. None of the crowd. None of the cliques. From a person solely focused on his fitness goals: I love this gym. (Plenty of parking!)

As a tourist, the parking seemed as if it had to be paid to park in front of the building. It was very confusing and there were no signs regarding parking for Planet Fitness guests, whether there was free parking or validated. For traveling members, I suggest clarifying this in the parking lot. There are so many other PFs in the area, I went elsewhere, according to where I would be visiting each day.

Bad customer service, I have a classic membership and I just moved to downtown area, I came here to work out and I asked if they transfer my membership to here, the young lady said I had to call the planet fitness where I used to go. Ok, I asked if I could train today because I was ready for that. She said I HAD to call first.
Me as I member I could not use the gym before calling to transfer? I think that was very disrespectful for someone who is already a member. I am definitely not coming back here.

I’m upset because when I first came to planet fitness to see if I would l sign up for a membership, I got a free pass to try it out, and now that I’m already a member for over two years and I moved recently to a new location and I didn’t know I had to call my previous location to transfer that to me because I thought you guy could do that. I was ready to work out and I was told I couldn’t do that before I call to transfer locations, that is upsetting, you deny one day entry pass for a current customer.

Don't pay attention to all the negative stuff you hear about Planet Fitness because this is one of the best gyms I've gone to. The workers are amazing and kind, the equipment is adequate if you're not trying to be a power lifter, and all those fake rules you hear online don't apply to this PF. I've only heard the lunk alarm 3 times in the 2 years I've been going, and it was because a goof was screaming for no reason. It's never that busy, and even when it is, there's plenty of equipment for everyone. I would completely recommend this PF to any person whose main goals aren't becoming a power lifter. There isn't a free bench but plenty of Smith machines and some free weights. If you're thinking about going, i would say that you should hundred percent check it out.

I’m from Wisconsin but was in Salt Lake City for work and wanted to stay consistent with my strength training. I decided to check out the local Planet Fitness, and I’m glad I did—it was my first time at one, and the experience was great!

One of the staff members (curly dark hair, glasses) was super helpful in getting me started—shout out to him! The gym was clean, well-organized, and had everything I needed for solid workouts.

I have recently been going into planet fitness’s gym downtown Salt Lake City and I asked Brighton who is a trainer there to assist me with a piece of equipment. He helped immediately and that turned into him scheduling a class for me, which turned into more classes which was key for building a foundation for my fitness program! He is great at explaining exercises, form and the muscles that are involved. Thank you so much for your help and being an awesome, supportive and informative trainer!

The WORST planet fitness location I’ve ever been to by far… And I’ve been to over 10 locations in multiple states. They have a 2hr parking limit but ONLY those who subscribe to the most expensive membership are eligible… No premium membership, no 2hr free parking. You can barely get in a decent workout and a rushed shower without worrying about paying to park.

I came into the planet fitness over here in Salt Lake and the assistant manager. Eric gave me an attitude. He wouldn’t let me access the gym because he said that my payment was past due and I spoke with customer service and they said that I should be able to enter the gym. I canceled my membership and they still charge me for it after I canceled it two weeks before the ending day, they need to work on their customer service here at this gym.

Music is too dang loud. Solid variety of equipment, free weight/focus machines and more than enough cardio options. Mostly clean and nothing falling apart which for the price is a good deal. Always purchase memberships for any gym with caution but for the base price here your getting your money’s worth.

Major complaint is music volume. I can’t even hear my own ear buds (not going to turn it up that causes hearing damage) Too loud to talk to anyone you end up running into or even asking someone if they’re done etc. without yelling over it. Just turn it down by 20%, no one is here for the top 100 music.

I went to this gym for over two years - it was fine for my needs. But when I wanted to cancel, I went in person to do so, they said I had to call. I called to do so, and they said I had to send in an email, so I did. And then I find out they've been continuing to charge me MONTHLY for over 6 months. I have proof of everything. I understand it's a classic case of "predatory gym membership practice," but in the state of Utah, you can record phone calls.

There are several steps that you can take to get your money refunded, I'm learning. To help future victims out, you can:

1) Contact your credit card company and dispute the charges as unauthorized. You can often get relief through this process and it does not cost you anything to pursue it.

2) File a complaint with your sttae's Attorney General Office of Consumer Protection. This office investigates unfair trade practices and can often get companies to review a policy that has an unfair effect on consumers.

3) File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB is often successful in helping consumers resolve problems. Gym memberships are a big common problem when they delay or refuse cancellation. So the BBB is aware of the types of issues in these situations.

The above cost you nothing to pursue and you can do any or ALL of them.

4) You can sue in small claims court, but this process will cost you money and there is no guarantee of success. But sometimes the suit or threat of suit is sufficient to get a company to revisit a situation. You can get the forms that you need from the local small claims court clerk.

To initiate a suit you want to first send a good strong "demand letter" to the Gym's Headquarters. A well-written letter often resolves these issues better than a phone call because it lets the Corporate structure know that you are serious.

It's a hassle, but they've already cost me hundreds of dollars, and on principle alone I will be pursuing all of these routes if they do not cancel and refund me appropriately based on my numerous requests and following their due process.

The gym itself is fantastic, the parking is a nightmare. I have the black membership and applied the parking validation and left the lot well under 2hrs, I received confirmation I left the lot and then get charged for parking 5 plus hours as the camera failed to notice me leave but I get a confirmation?!. Whilst visiting America I decided to check out planet fitness just so I could hit the gym a few times.
Whilst the prices are absolutely rock bottom, it's very clean inside, and the staff were nice. I cannot recommend this place for various reasons.

The dumbbells only go up to 75lb. This is not enough weight.

They have no actual set up to do a bench press or incline bench press. You will have to use a smith machine for that.

It's a short walk from my office, so I use it, but it's pretty bad. I use the stair climber a lot. They have 6, but 4 have been broken for months. They haven't had hot water in over a week. The showers are either gross or busted (or both). The downtown location brings a lot of crazy into the locker room. The air circulation is horrible. The glass in the front door was kicked out and hasn't been repaired in weeks.

My issue is the hours being misleading. They advertise online that they are open 24h, but they are not. During weekdays, it's closed from 9pm to midnight and weekends they are closed at 7pm. Which sucks. Who in their right mind would decide to go to the gym at midnight ???
They also don't have that much space for a cooldown area. There could be much more space if they don't block so many areas with dumbells and weighted medicinal ball.

I understand cleaning is important. But when you see someone doing heavy cardio you and another staff member should NOT go on both sides of the machine the person is working out on and spray heavy chemicals. I do not want to be breathing that in. PLUS when wiping down machines THE STAFF should not be wiping down the peddles and then wiping down the handle bars with the same rag! On my way out the same 2 staff members that were spraying the heavy chemicals on both sides of me were literally trying to wipe down and dust off a treadmill a guy was running on! He had to get off and walk down to another machine. When I tried to speak to someone about this on my way out, there was no one at the front desk and 2 people waiting to talk with the staff.

I’ve been coming to this location for YEARS. Overall, it’s a great little gym. There’s just one thing….lack of air conditioning! If there was an option for zero stars, I would choose that option. I have tried numerous times to cancel my membership here over the phone and they would not allow it. I joined here on a work trip and do not have the luxury of driving down the road to cancel in person or extra time to write and send a letter. After reading the contract I found out you can cancel via email, which was never explained to me over the phone or given to me as an option. Planet fitness is a money grab and I highly recommend never becoming a member of any of their gyms.

I’ve had a good experience here. The gym is smaller than expected but that’s not their fault, I think it’s just location. Machines work and weight equipment does too. I’ve gone in the evening and morning and I’ve always seen one of the girls cleaning and wiping down machines. The women’s locker room is also clean. I’m not sure why the bad reviews about parking are blaming PF.. it’s very obvious you have to pay for the parking.. like c’mon it’s in the middle of downtown you basically have to pay for parking anywhere and there is a QR code for black card members to scan to get free parking which I think covers 2 hours, IMO that seems generous. If you don’t like paying for the parking each time might be worth getting the black card, just saying.
I am cancelling my membership only because I want to go more to the gym and I need a gym that offers daycare services. If PF ever offers those services I’ll be back.
Also, I haven’t experienced any hidden fees I’ve only had to pay my monthly and the annual fee.
I’d recommend going here if you are just beginning or just need a simple gym.

I’m an active duty soldier that travels a lot. I utilize Planet Fitness as my source of fitness when I travel and up until this point I haven’t had any issues. The Salt Lake City Planet Fitness is poorly manned. I brought an issue to the staff regarding personnel maintaining several pieces of equipment with no utilization. The staff responded, “Sir go find another.” I explain that I had canvassed the entire gym and the only one within the gym was laying on the floor not being utilized. The staff never tried to address the concern. They simply told me to wait or trying again another day. I’ve worked in gyms all over the country and have never been treated in this manner. I definitely would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Busy place. I like how their TV's marked. The downside of this location is paid parking. I paid 9.99 for 3 hours, and that's half of my monthly membership fee.

Customer service was top-notch. Lizzie and Ricky were great. Clean showers and bathrooms. The dressing rooms were dusty the times I went in, but everything else was good.

My first impressions are not good. I went in for the first time and had no idea where to park. I ended up paying for parking, only to learn I get free parking with the black card. But I still don't know where to park.

When I finally got into the gym. The kid at the desk said they needed my picture, so they knew I was a new member. They took the picture, said thanks and nothing else. Didn't give me a tour, didn't talk to me about parking, or the spa, or anything at all. The other person working was chattering, so maybe they were distracted. Every other gym has at least offered a tour so you don't have to figure things out as you go.

I was told they sold locks for the lockers at the front desk, but they were out when I went in, so I just left without getting to workout.

Basically, I paid ~$4 for my first visit to the gym and didn't even get to work out. First impressions are important, but I'll update my rating if things get better... and if I can figure out where the hell to park without a fee.

I purchased a basic membership. I went in to workout out and realized I had to pay for parking . Only black memberships get two hours of free parking. Planet fitness should be notifying people that parking isn't free. This is a big inconvenience for ppl. We should get free parking and not have to pay . Planet fitness should be covering these fees. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Waste of money being they should provide parking for their customers.

Trying to get myself back on track and healthy and planet fitness helps me do that, they are always very clean and friendly staff make it pleasant to visit. I like all the machines they have available as it makes it quick and easy to get the machines you need and get on to the next. The extras they offer are great, massage chairs in multiple styles and tanning beds , just wish they had a pool and spa.

The service is great. The Captain who runs the desk in the morning is very personable. The equipment is good. The free weights fill up and it wouldn’t hurt to have more mat space, but there’s always a bike or a treadmill available. And of course the black card area is very comfortable.

If I had to choose one thing to improve, it would absolutely be the locker room set up. Bring a robe and travel light because modesty and places to set your soaps and etceteras are limited. Sure, there’s space to undress and there’s lockers, but they aren’t conveniently placed for a quick in-and-out shower before work or school.

Female employees are going into the male locker rooms any time they please… It’s very uncomfortable and they don’t even let people know ahead of time or close the locker room before coming in…. The gym sucks nothing works either… Also in the summer they don’t turn on AC.

Not enough squat racks, benches, or dumbbells for how busy this place is. Needs to make room by getting rid stuff they have way excess of like treadmills. Also don't use the apps crowd meeter, it always says low when not true, use Google maps meeter instead.

El ambiente se nota tranquilo por la noche los de recepción muy amables, ya que hoy fue mi primer día un poco confuso lo del estacionamiento que deberían de mencionar algo en el app o a la llegada por uno entra y pues no sabes cuánto te saldrá el estacionamiento que eso como que molesta por qué tú vez otras sucursales sin cobro en el estacionamiento y por qué este que está en el centro si, y pues crees que es un costo extra. Pero como lo menciono lo de recepción muy amables. Y algo que mencionar es que esta muy limpio el lugar
