It’s a great and affordable place to workout. Although there are other gym options with more diverse essentials planet fitness has basically everything to get you both activated and built if you’re on a budget and want to get straight to the money. Some pros are the equipment is rarely broken at this location so everything is almost always available. If assistance is needed the staff is always available unless busy. The mirrors are always clean and the floor clear on paper and clutter. Some cons are the bathrooms sink areas are almost always splashed with used water and paper towels aren’t available. Some of the gym subscribers don’t clean the equipment and seats after working out and some sneeze unprotected in open areas allowing germs to spread through the air. Some people may be weird and walk up to you during your set and may do and say something weird so beware of the cons.

I know my own personal experience isn't necessarily an indication of this planet fitness but today I kindly reminded a woman of the no cell phone conversations policy because she was especially loud and disruptive and I didn't bring my headphones (and shouldn't have to wear them to have a decent workout).

She didn't understand me (I think she was speaking Russian) so I pointed at the sign next to her that said "keep phone conversations in the lobby". She responded violently by yelling at me to mind my own business, so I went to the front desk and she followed me shouting at them "I've been coming here for years and you're gonna let this nobody guy tell me what to do?" Apparently being able to talk loudly on your phone on the floor is an entitlement?

Nonetheless, the guy at the front desk tried to remind her of the policy but she stomped away and with an louder voice and stayed on her phone back on the floor again.

The guy at the front desk later informed me that I should've not talked to her and just came to them directly. I guess that's the culture we live in these days, apparently there is so much hate and lack of consideration for others that we can't even ask someone politely to keep it down.

They should rename this gym to “Planet Cardio” because that seems to be their main focus. I counted AT LEAST 90 cardio specific machines. I estimate their cardio equipment accounts for 40% of their total gym floor. That’s insane. The heaviest dumbbell is 75lbs. Also, insane. This business (not just this location) has this “no ego” mantra which I find very uninspiring and unmotivating. While I personally do not believe in “ego lifting” because it hinders progress, this company is going overboard with their seemingly WOKE stance on fitness. They hide little stickers all over the gym that constantly remind you “ego is bad”. I’m not even kidding, I had to laugh out loud. It’s ridiculous. I agree, being egotistical can be bad, but in the context of personal development, especially in a gym setting where the goal (should be) to increase body health, lose fat, and replace it with lean muscle, constantly telling your customers to “take it easy, guy, this is a no ego zone” in my opinion will do nothing but hold people back subconsciously. I could go on and on about this particular topic, but that’s not what this review is about! Anyways, some positives I found at this location, and keep in mind, this is the only PF I have ever been to: the men’s locker room was very nice. No bad odors, soft lighting, clean, tons of space and lockers. Two thumbs up for the locker room. The temperature inside the gym: very nice and clearly air conditioned. It was 95 degrees outside when I worked out here, and the ambient temperature inside the gym felt very nice and cool. The staff: I came into the gym having already downloaded their app as the Internet said it was the easiest way to obtain a free day pass. When I arrived I told the guy at the front that I had a day pass, he said ok, I scanned it, he said enjoy. No unnecessary tour, no sales pitch. Very nice. The crowd: not crowded at all. It was 2pm on a Friday when I was there and I didn’t see there being any wait for any piece of equipment or machines ESPECIALLY the cardio machines HAHA! Final thoughts: If your main goal is gentle, slow muscle growth with very little inspiration or physical discomfort, this gym is for you. If your goal is cardio, THIS GYM IS FOR YOU. But if you’re looking to build large amounts of muscle, be motivated by a likeminded atmosphere with likeminded athletes who are also there to push themselves to the max in order to achieve the body of their dreams, this is 150% not the gym for you. And no offense to the patrons of this gym, and I was only there for an hour (I couldn’t wait to get out of there), 9 out of 10 people looked out of shape and bored. And that’s a very good indicator of the atmosphere. No ego, no results.

I'm diabetic. My sugar tanked halfway through my workout. One of the people working there ("Sunny") was so helpful. He made sure I had a sugary Gatorade to drink. While I waited for my sugar to regulate, Sunny frequently checked on me. Even after I resumed my workout, Sunny checked on me one more time. Thanks for the great care!

I’m a truck driver so parking is first concern and thus location worked for me. I might have gotten lucky with it being Easter Sunday but I parked out back because the front lot is small and I wasn’t bothered. Showers were hottish, water fountain was cold, all equipment was up to par, and it was a nice clean facility. Water pressure in the shower was the most powerful I’ve come across in all the US haha. Hopefully I’ll be back

It's a scam! They have secret fees! And if you don't cancel them long before you're supposed to they charge you an annual fee I canceled my annual fee before it was due they still charged me they won't transfer me and they closed my account before they would transfer me to another gym!
Corporate never made contact after I made a complaint!
And the manager at the gym, Mike. Tell me I should have read the fine print!
You have to cancel the account 5 days before they charge your annual fee otherwise you get charged!!

My experience was horrible this is one of the worst gyms I've ever been to!!!
Most of the controlled weights were missing pins to set the weight.
There wasn't enough free weights available to do my routine without collecting from multiple other sources which I had to wait for them to finish just to collect their weight somewhere else!
The showers didn't work in the bathrooms neither did the toilets except one!

I paid over $100 to work out five times in a horrible environment! Did all they would let me do is closed my account not transfer to another gym incorporate was a joke they're impossible to get in touch with!

This has been a horrible experience and I plan on giving them bad reviews as long as they have my money that they stoled!

I'm sure you'll agree with me after you read the contract and they're hidden fees don't get scammed by these guys like I did

I wrote an amazing Yelp review on this location a couple months ago, but I do want to voice my locker has been broken into once at this location (yes I had a lock, it was cut). Today I walked in 7/14/24 around 3:15 and there was a lady at the front desk in what looked like a genuine satin sleep set tank top and short shorts with no shoes on, sitting on the counter of the desk. I thought it was extremely unprofessional and made me a little uncomfortable walking in. I hope management addresses this, because I’ve gone to planet fitness for over 5 years, know plenty of people employed here and this is not the standard the uphold for their employees.

They just got 6 new machines and put them in the already limited free weight dumbbell area, right as the new years rush starts.

There is a massive amount of space for rows between machines behind them, but rather than moving them closer together to accommodate, they shrunk the dumbbell area. Now you get to enjoy people doing shoulder raises right above you as you use a bench.

I always liked this location and hope that they'll figure out a better solution going forward.

Friendly staff and so far has always been clean. I would love to see more variety in equipment. Get rid of half the treadmills (I never see more than half being used at once anyways) and add an olympic bar set or even smith machines that aren't angled. Also, there is no boxes/platforms that I've seen. Would be nice for some glute exercises at the cable machine

The option was available to sign up for Total body enhancement, which I did. After an employee asked if it was usable in which (I’m assuming the manager) said yes, but bulbs were out. Then they set me up to use the red light therapy, and specified they had to schedule it to turn on (which has not been the case at any other planet fitness I’ve been too). I then got ready to use it and waited 5 minutes and the machine never turned on. So I had to get dressed again and go to another gym to use the machine. My experience felt inconsiderate and full of poor communication.

I am really enjoying this facility. The crew that works here is always kind and open to comments.i spoke to them recently about mats in the absence of and stretching area. Space management and usable mats seems to be a problem. And newer cardio equipment would make this a superior facility. There is one treadmill I can pair my watch to and get accurate info in my logs for my distance training. More of these machines would be phenomenal especially during the winter months where outdoor training is more difficult.

Is this planet fitness has been pretty good so far in the last 6 months that I have been a member. If the showers are sometimes out of order, but that is because people do not treat the mechanical ends decently or gently.
The staff has always been mostly friendly. But not highly engaging when you walk in.
Most all of the equipment seems in good general order. And the place.
Is kept pretty clean. And I've never heard those annoying alarm sirens ever go off. Never super packed the few times I go during the week. So I'd say it's a good location to go. parking can get a little packed up. But overall never really found a trouble with this location.

I Got harassed by a club member, who broke all the “nonjudgmental “ rules. He approached me unprovoked on a calm Tuesday afternoon. When I notified management, their response was “ oh I know adam, that doesn’t sound like him” well I had Adam come to the front and basically I was told not to engage with Adam if HE COMES TO HARASS ME. I have been to almost all the locations around the valley and I have to say that the South Salt Lake location on 3300 south is by far my new favorite.
This is especially due to their staff, particularly this new blonde girl Amber. She was so friendly and helpful, and you can tell that she actually cares about her job and is always making sure the tanning beds are pristine and is always taking care of cleaning the equipment, while other locations make me want to cringe sometime because of the poor job taken to be wiped down.
I hope she is getting paid well, because she makes it so that I only want to go in when she is working since I know that I will have peace of mind that I will always feel welcome and safe when using any of the exercises equipment or tanning beds. Thanks for being so Awesome Amber, you Rock!

I like this gym simply because it’s low key compared to other gyms in the area. That’s not to say that it doesn’t get busy at times, but it’s bearable in comparison to the other gyms. I am a planet fitness believer and this place is no different. The machines are clean, well maintained, and they all work. Even if the gym is packed there are plenty of open machines and spaces to get an effective workout in.
I do wish there were a couple of cable machines or lift racks set in different spots and not up front directly in front of the mirrors, but I believe this is standard of all planet fitness gyms.

This location needs to seriously pay attention to maintenance needs. Just for example. The men’s locker room has had two showers broken and running water for weeks. This is my first time being a member @ Planet Fitness, I'm usually a Vasa or 24 Hr Fitness member holder... My brother insisted that I gave Planet Fitness a chance. A Judgement Free Zone, nice equipment amazingly friendly staff, nice massage chairs and hydromassage beds toped of with tanning beds and a unbeatable price. I only gave it a 3 start rating because I really wish it was 24\7 days a week Monday-Thursday is not that convenient for a lot of people. But really the locker rooms are roomy & clean. I think the facility is nice. I think there are some employees who are willing to do their job, are amicable, and ensure the cleanilness of the equipment. Others don't. My biggest issue was that my wallet was stolen here in my locked locker. While I think the staff were helpful, I think my issue is that because people are sometimes cleaning equipment, there is no one in the front to monitor who walks in/walks out. Also, if I was a manager at this gym and someone had reported an incident like this to me, I would at least attempt to call the person that this happened to, yet I recieved nothing of the sorts, especially when they are potentially liable for this happening.

I love the layout of this gym and the fact that the equipment is up to date (unlike many other gyms where they consistently have broken machines), but there is definitely an issue with cleanliness here. Every time I come in I see wads of hair and dust all over the floors, sometimes in the same spot(s) for multiple days. There is also an issue with the restocking of paper towels. I feel like I’m always searching for them and they’re constantly empty, which is annoying when you have signage stating to wipe stuff down yet these precautionary measures aren’t taken by staff. Also, today I went by at 6:30am, along with many others (4 of us gathered in the parking lot at the same time) and the doors were locked and no one was there. The place was supposed to open at 6. There was no signage or notice that they would not be open. This is extremely frustrating as a customer when you plan around your workout and would like to have a reliable gym and not waste gas and time.

Very discriminating, during the night the person who attended only stop smoking and very unhygienic, nothing more for outside smoking than inside and the bathrooms super dirty... terrible place became planet fitness tonight for that man. This was the first fitness planet I visited in those unique conditions.

I use this gym temporarily, as I am visiting here from Idaho and the quality of this planet fitness is so much worse then the one there. Many of the machines have broken knobs, they lack an ankle strap of any sort, the paper towels are always out, and the sprays are always empty. It's also always busy. But most importantly it just seems dirty often. I did a tanning session and was given a dirty bed... I understand it happens sometimes but that was just so gross to experience.

This club is a scam! They make you sign up online and yet you can’t cancel online. Their site shows written and mailed by the 10th for cancel of the month to not receive a charge next month. I went in person to my “home club” did not have to have any paperwork and said I wanted to cancel to be told in the end you still pay next month.

I had to drive out of my way back to my old club just to cancel since you can’t do it at any of them.

Ilove their hours of operation 12:Am-7pm on the 1st DAY (sun) 👍🏼 clean shower 🚿 & I like this location 🚿 head a little Better than the hand held one.
Not too crowded next to a little river string that has huge cat fish swimming against the current, but I love the sound of running 🌊 water in the parking lot in a 🚍

My wife and I are from Texas and we came to visit our son in SLC for two weeks, so we decided to visit Planet Fitness to workout while here visiting. Let me tell you, this is the most cleanest gym we’ve ever been to. We both travel a lot so we visit quite a few gyms wherever we are staying. We’ve never seen a gym as this particular location. Wesley and his team are amazing, super friendly and courteous. The cleanliness of the gym speaks volumes of Wesley and his team. We saw one of the employees (I believe her name is Victoria) cleaning one of the treadmills with a scrub brush yams soap and water. Never have I seen this at any other gym. This is why the gym is so clean. You can see that the employees at PF take pride in the jobs. Great Job to Wes and his team!!! We definitely will be back to visit when we are back in SLC.

I’ve been to 5 planet fitness locations around the salt lake valley and this had to be the worst one. Everything is dirty and very poorly maintained. Would not recommend making this location your home gym. Will not be coming back to this location

The graveyard shift that guy is so lazy. I go in at 4 AM every morning and it is so freezing in there. I have to wear a coat to work out my second biggest complaint is that guy never cleans , the paper towel dispensers are never full. Either are the bottles. I’ve asked him several times to please fill the paper towels and he’s got an attitude about it.. third complaint it’s filthy in there he could be spending time cleaning but instead he’s outside in his car, And you have him representing planet fitness gym the way he carries himself and I realize that they don’t get paid much but still you need to pick a better guy.

The manager Wes is driving this location severely down hill. The way that he treats the employees is so demeaning and demanding and very unprofessional. He tries to force employees to come in while waiting on COVID test results; He is rarely there and when he is he is completely ineffective. It is very obvious that he does not care about employees or members and it’s really disappointing to see that the actions of one can overshadow the effort of an entire company

I travel a lot and go to a lot of planet fitness locations. I won’t be coming back to this one. It’s a bummer because the building is nice but it’s very poorly maintained. Super dirty machines/equipment. Bathroom was disgusting. All of the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty & half of the paper towel machines were as well & all of the trash cans brimmed. Staff was rude and rolled their eyes at me when I asked for a massage chair appointment. Plenty of locations in salt lake area, I recommend avoiding this one.

I liked the place but it's ridiculous that you have to give 2 payment methods when it's supposed to be month to month plans with no contracts. There's no way they are getting my account and routing #s as well as my credit card information. That's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS and uncalled for. And they won't take cash payments. Give me a break I'll go to the local Recreation Center!!!!!

I come here twice a week in the morning. The management staff is amazing. The other day, there was an issue with one of the cars in the parking lot and the front desk employee talked to every single person in the gym till he found the owner so they were aware of what was going on. Today, I left my headphones on the treadmill and the same employee was so friendly and helped me find them. I love it here - would never go to another gym.

Horrible cancellation policy. We have moved, so I called to cancel our membership and was told I could only do that in person (which isn’t possible). The other option was to move the membership to another location and then cancel through that location. This is a completely unacceptable and NOT customer friendly.
