Not friendly to new people.

My partner and I came for the first time today. We got here early because it was our first time. We struggled for ten minutes trying to figure out the bike adjustments. I was able to help him on but I couldn’t figure out my clips. The instructor started the class while watching me struggle and just watched while I struggled for at least five minutes. Finally the other staff came in to help me figure it out. No one explained to us the hand positions or the resistance wheel.

It’s so vulnerable going to a new gym and trying a new thing. I wish the instructor would’ve taken even three minutes to orient us since she knew we were new and we were some of the first people to arrive. The workout was fine so if we already knew what we were doing it would’ve been a fine class. I would recommend it if you already know what you’re doing. If you don’t, I’d go somewhere else.

Probably the worst spin class I’ve been to. I left midway through because I was not feeling it. I came to exercise not dance with my elbows. The class was kind of empty, and the bikes had no screen that displayed RPM or resistance. I would also expect that when booking on classpass shoe rental would be included but it was not. I won’t be back.

10 out of 10, would recommend. Rebel House is by far the most inclusive, friendly and challenging fitness experience I’ve ever had! The instructors are incredibly dedicated and so willing to help, the front of house staff is knowledgeable and incredibly friendly, and bonus!!! It’s women-owned and operated by a really incredible person! I couldn’t recommend it more.

This is the BEST fitness studio I’ve ever been to. No exaggeration. I’m someone who’s always found it hard to exercise regularly — I’ve tried lots of gyms, apps, types of exercise, etc and just haven’t managed to find something I could commit to and enjoy consistently. Rebel House finally did it! Here’s everything I LOVE:

• Variety. A Rebel House membership is basically 3 gym memberships in one, with boxing, cycling, and yoga. I personally love them all and it’s fun to be able to mix it up — it makes it so I can go really frequently without getting bored.

• The workouts themselves. I joined knowing I liked yoga and thinking I wanted to try cycling. Boxing turned out to be my favorite class! But I love all three. I never leave a 45-min workout without feeling totally sweaty and like I worked super hard (with the exception of yoga restore classes). And for me the crucial thing is they’re FUN — somehow the music & the energy & the format makes them enjoyable & not just in a “feels good once you’ve done it” way.

• Theme classes. This helps with the FUN aspect! But I enjoy getting to pick and choose based on not just the class type but also the music we’ll work out to.

• The schedule. They have lots of class offerings throughout the day (even if you’re like me and you’re not an early riser) and on weekends.

• The app. It’s great. It works. I’ve never had any issues. Scheduling is super easy.

• The staff. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable being a total beginner here! And every instructor has their own personality/music taste/style but they’re all great.

• The space itself. Stylish, inviting, clean, always smells nice. Even the merch is cute. And the vibe is supportive. My sister visited from out of town and said she’d never felt so comfortable working out at a gym as a woman!

• The value. A monthly membership is pretty comparable (even on the lower side) to other gyms I looked into in the area but again, here it’s like you’re getting 3 gym memberships in one. I genuinely think you can’t beat it.

I just checked and I’ve now been to 78 classes in the ~3.5 months since I joined. I don’t see how I could ever go anywhere else! Highly highly recommend this gym!!!

If you’re a Utah local, visit their website and get the $29 one-week pass — that’s what I did and it was the perfect way to try out all the different types of classes :) see you there!!!

Rebel House is a “boutique fitness studio”, but it’s more than just a place to move & sweat. I’ve been coming here regularly for almost 2 years and I never want to leave!
I love the consistency of the class routines (every instructor has their own style within a structure) so I feel comfortable trying new things and not just sticking with what I know. I like the options to have spin, boxing, or yoga. I find that I feel better when I am doing a combination of all 3 classes in a week.
I’ve made great friends coming here! The locker area is public for swapping out shoes and putting on coats (there is private changing space in the bathrooms if you prefer) so hanging out and yapping after class is just as important to me as getting a good workout!
I did the one week trial and I’ve been obsessed ever since!

As someone who’s been spinning for years, and has cycled on multiple styles of road bike with multiple shoes over the years, i genuinely do not understand why rebel house has made the clipless style choice they have. i legitimately never got my right foot to clip in, the front desk associate acted like she didn’t care if i lived or died and didn’t help at all and kept trying to leave when i was improperly clipped in. the instructor was nice but selected songs that were too fast to be doing with the complicated choreography because over half the class couldn’t do it, and the instructor would often stop riding herself and try to give verbal instruction rather than demonstration for the choreography. i was so excited to try rebel house and left feeling disrespected and honestly concerned about how riders are taken care of in the studio. won’t be returning and will encourage anyone who wants to spin in slc to go to rideologie.

I had high hopes because I have heard such great things about rebel house and have just been waiting to go, but the class was not what I expected. As soon as I entered the building, I was not greeted with a smile. After I checked in, I was told to head to class and what bike I was on, but had to ask where everything was because I hadn’t been there before. (At other studios, when I’ve joined for the first time they go out of their way to do a tour when I’ve mentioned it is my first time). The music was alright and the class was nearly empty. The instructor had energy, but not enough that it made me enjoy my ride or feel like I was having fun. Maybe I just didn’t vibe with the instructor? The studio and amenities were very nice though. Shower water pressure is super low. Hair dryer, elastics, shampoo/conditioner, and etc. are all available. Overall, based on this experience, I will not come back.

I've tried a few cycling studios in SLC and this one is definitely the best! Prices are all pretty similar from studio to studio here, but the instructors at Rebel are AMAZING. Obviously you gotta find the people you vibe with, but the classes I've taken have been really fun! Plus the front desk people are really helpful, they rent shoes, have free earplugs if the music is too loud, and are so friendly.

Rebel offers so much to its members! Physically it allows you to come in and try a variety of movement classes that meets your needs at any given time in your life. I thought I was someone who did not like boxing, well, I thought wrong. Their trainers make it fun, unique, and challenging every time you step into a class. Mentally and spiritually, each class you are encouraged to meet yourself where you are at and never feel like you’re not enough just as you are. EDIT:
One of the owners of Rebel House has reached out and was extremely caring about his studio and resolved the issue.
Genuinely seems like this was coming from one employee and is not in line with what Rebel House represents.
I have not attended any of the other classes in their other locations, but did love and recommended their classes at the downtown location to friends.
I fell in love with cycling at their studio and would likely return in the future!

***********

Frustrated & Disappointed. Credit card charged after canceling my membership.

Started with the the studio I was going to closing without anything posted in the building.
After trying to call, text, email, and sending a message on Instagram I went into their other location and spoke with their front desk and she said she would text whoever was in charge of membership to cancel for me and I was still charged.
I went in again and talk to the same person working front desk she was surprised my account wasn’t canceled.
And once I finally heard back from the person running membership she acted like I didn’t try to cancel my account has ignore my text and will not confirm if my account is canceled.

Worst experience. I was so excited to go to a spin class. I was really needing the movement and was ready to try something new. I signed up and paid online but when I showed up for class the studio was all locked up. I called multiple times and text the number with no response. Then I emailed to let them know what happened and asked for a refund. They replied asking for my confirmation of payment, I sent it right away and now have had no response for days.
So disappointed and can’t believe I still haven’t gotten a refund. I paid $30 for a trial week and now I have nothing for it.

I have been regularly visiting Rebel downtown for nearly four years, and Sugarhouse since it opened. The space is beautiful, the equipment is awesome, and there's plenty of space to change, and have an amazing workout, especially amidst a pandemic. Both studios provide a great place to workout, but the freeway access and ease of parking have helped make the extra distance for me, a no brainier.

Today I took my 17th class at Rebel House. It was Fiesta Friday with Meredith and it was by far my favorite class here yet! Overall, the classes here (I've only taken a mix of boxing and cycling classes and 1 restore yoga session) have been so much fun. Some trainers have been more of my style than others but I love the variety and their positive energy. I've never done cycling before Rebel House and now I love it. I'm still getting use to riding to the beat of the music but that brings me back to Meredith's class today. It was intense but worth it. The way she set up the moves to the beat helped me keep up and actually push myself to keep up because it was so fun. I'm thankful to have found this place after recently moving to SLC.

I cannot give this place enough praise. The classes are SO much fun while also being challenging. The instructors are all so kind and encouraging, and the overall vibe is fantastic and uplifting. The only downside is the cost - it is much more expensive than your average gym, but you are paying for the experience. While a monthly pass isn’t in my budget, I will continue to attend classes here and there when I can purely for the experience that is provided! ❤️

Beautiful and specious location! Great classes, Lacy and Mere Lynn are my favorite for RIOT and SPIN but all instructors are really talented! RIOT and RIDE classes are a great workout, especially if you’re looking for studio fitness that you wouldn’t expect to find outside of major cities like NYC or LA. They offer a 1 week traveling REBEL pass that can be used at either location which is great if you’re looking for a good workout while on a work or ski trip.

Only complaint is that traveling Rebel pass doesn’t include shoe or glove rental. For $98 per week it would be nice to have those included considering an out of towner would likely not be bringing shoes or gloves with them. The extra $2 fees aren’t awful but would be a nice addition for the week long pass!

I absolutely LOVE Rebel House. Here’s why: Until about 2 years ago I had never before been a person to go to any gym, let alone a boutique studio. I was terrified of feeling judged or vulnerable. But a friend of mine recommended I tag along to a spin class. The staff was extremely welcoming and helped me get clipped in and explained how to use the bike. Since the room was dark and the music was loud, I didn’t feel so exposed as I stumbled through my first class, and the positivity and support of everyone in the room made me want to come back and get better. Over the next 2 years and 200 classes, my experiences have only been positive.

Things I recommend:
- Theme classes are always a blast. Throwback playlists and explicit hip hop classes are my favorite.
- Monday night boxing, because who doesn’t want to punch something 1,000 times on a Monday?
- Restore yoga is the most lovely and relaxing hour you will have all week.
- Get to know your trainers!!! They are all inspiring and badass humans.

Finally, a few notes regarding less positive reviews: You won’t be allowed into class late, because of the dark atmosphere. This is for the safety of everyone and having people barge in and try to get set up while class is going on is distracting. It is dark and it is loud - that is on purpose. There are earplugs too, and nobody will judge you if you use them. Lastly, yeah, parking is rough, especially if there is an event downtown. If you live at all on the south end of the city, check out the new Sugarhouse location, complete with a parking lot!

I know I wrote a novel here, but I seriously can not recommend this studio enough!

I love having this space to help me meet my physical goals, and encourage me to set new ones. This studio has some real OG ride, boxing and yoga instructors here in the SLC area. Give them a try- I am sure they would love to show you around the place and let you try your first class for free.

Since I started with Rebel House I have never looked back to traditional gyms / studios. I finally found a place that is inclusive and makes me feel like I have potential. I have a place I can look forward to going to VS dreading. I take their ride + rehab classes and here soon I will be trying riot as well. I definitely like ride because traditional running / HIIT is hard on my joints and with ride I do not experience any joint discomfort but get the benefits of HIIT. If you are sensitive to loud music they offer ear plugs ! They have mats, gloves, and shoes for rent if you do not have a series on your account. Everything is sanitized and clean. Staff at Rebel House are friendly and supportive. Overall I am happy to spend a little more monthly on a series with Rebel House and get what I need / want VS spend a lot less on a gym membership to a gym that is crowded, dirty, has unreliable equipment and rude/uninterested staff. You get what you pay for. I think of it as an investment on myself. I highly recommend giving Rebel House a try with their Utah locals "New Client" 2 week pass or "Traveling Rebel" 1 week pass! Another added bonus is they have a functioning app that is easy to use.

I am thoroughly impressed with Rebel House! It can feel intimidating coming to a new gym, but walking in my first time everyone was so welcoming and made sure I knew exactly where to go and what to do. It really just feels like home now. And it is truly the best workout of your life!! The staff and trainers are exceptional. I can't say enough about Rebel House.

I had a Pure Barre membership and I loved it, but had to leave due to transportation issues. I wanted to find a new gym, and Rebel House was within walking distance. I decided to give it a try and boy oh boy! Let me tell you, this place is amazing. I love the variety of classes and types of workouts. I was very skeptical about giving boxing a try, but I absolutely love it! It's challenging, but so rewarding in the end. I never realized how much frustration I needed to get out after taking one class. I also don't think I've ever sweat so much after a cycling class before. The instructors are so friendly and helpful and they try to push you to do your best. Overall, I have no regrets about switching gyms and am so happy I was able to give Rebel House a try!

I’ve been going to the downtown location for about a year. It’s convenient because I also work downtown, but the Sugarhouse location is literally on my way home, and it’s even more convenient! They did a good job utilizing the space for all 3 rooms. I still get the same vibe walking in there as I do from the downtown location. It’s all the same great trainers and staff.

This place gets rave reviews for a reason. I've been to several spin classes here and they are fun and engaging (though I think that the music is terrible and consistently played at truly harmful volumes). It's a great workout if you go all in, prepare to leave sweaty and whipped. My two star review is based on the primary domain of communication. This place is nigh on impossible to contact. It seems to me that for the amount of money Rebel charges, they should have an easy conduit for questions, concerns, and general point of contact services that a person has come to expect out of any given service provider. For example, I recently wished to purchase a gift certificate for my love for the premier winter holiday. I called, and called, and stopped by, and stopped by again, and called again and couldn't rouse anyone (at the time of writing I notice that the website now offers gift certificates, this was not an option in early December- review upped to 3 stars) In between these efforts I emailed. I eventually (2-3 days) received an email response which stated that they'd call me back at my preferred time. I stated that my preferred time is anytime before 9pm. 2 days go by and no call. I was finally able to reach them on the phone and purchased a gift certificate. This required me to provide my name and purchase info 3, yes three times! I think that the phone attendant I spoke with realized she embarrasingly asked me for payment info 3 times and felt bad. All in all, the place delivers a good end product, but is run very 'bush-league' Rebel House, if you're listening, step it up. It's soon to be 2020 and people still have a reasonable expectation of easy to access, competent service when they are paying premium prices.

Update 8/21/2020. I haven't been to Rebel House in a while and my wife purchased me a $20 drop in pass for a relax and restore yoga class. I must say that tonight was the least relaxing and most assaulting yoga class I've ever been to. Primarily, this place continues to play music at extremely high volumes. It must be high enough to raise OSHA concerns and I'm not joking. On top of that, the instructor's PA volume has to increase in order to talk over the music. Additionally, the stereo system was clipping and full of static. It honestly sounds like something is wrong with the system or it's simply being operated above it's designed volume range. A simple solution would be to turn it down. It was violating and expensive. And the floor was gritty and dirty. Definitely won't be going back. Just turn the volume down to safe levels. Pigeon pose was nice, though.

So two years ago I got dragged to a REBEL class against my will. I HATED cardio but it was for a friends birthday so what are you going to do. So class starts I'm on my bike and the first song comes on... It's "CORE" by RL GRIME, an absolute high-octane banger of a song , and that was followed up by another banger and another and another. Next thing I know 45 minutes had passed, I had the BEST group fitness experience of my life, and now I will only go to REBEL. So do yourself a favor, go to Courtney's spin class, ask her to play some RL GRIME and lose yourself on that bike. Or if you want to chill out, go take Dre's yoga class. She did a PowerFlow with Post Malone class that not only stretched my body... it also stretched my heart.

Love this studio, not so much their policies.
I’ve gone to multiple cycle studios and never have I been required to rent shoes. In the instance where it’s company policy to wear cycle shoes, studios have always provided them for me. Anyone trying out the studio or purchases class packages is required to pay an additional fee for shoes.
At a time when anxieties over finances are higher than ever, you’d hope a studio wouldn’t ask more of its paying guests. It’s a bummer REBEL has to be that much more exclusive and will turn away guests if they can’t afford unnecessary rentals.

The staff and classes can't be compared to any other studios in the downtown area. They are always welcoming and I leave the class feeling motivated and strong. The classes are so different and entertaining I never feel bored or as though they are repetitive. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who enjoys classed based workouts. Wonderful facility through and through.

My best days always start here! I love the atmosphere, and feel totally spoiled. I was so intimidated to try spin before this place, when I realized that this is the best place to go at your own pace, but have a great time rocking it with motivating, talented, and kind instructors!

Now, I'm totally addicted to spin and going though withdrawals amidst the quarantine, and seriously can't wait to try their online class options!

Studio is fantastic! I love the vibe and the instructors/classes are phenomenal. However, parking is not free and can be a bit of a nightmare in downtown SLC. I live in the sugarhouse area (about 15 minutes away) and a 45 minute class ends up becoming a 2 hour ordeal with me to ensure parking and getting to class early. If the studio and classes were more convenient to attend this would be one of my favorite studios in the area. However, there are many other options that always provide free parking and shoe rentals.

It was great to come down and do a spin class at Rebel House. I wasn't as excited about the room being really hot, but it ended up not being bad and I got quite the workout. Come early enough to rent shoes for the spin class and allow the instructors time to get you situated in your bike. That was a mistake that I made. Also, if you have a chance to take Bryan's Wednesday evening spin class, I would highly recommend it!

It's my first time trying out boxing and first time at Rebel House. Boxing is intense. I liked that the class was broken into two groups so that when one group practiced boxing, the other on high intensity aerobics. Then the two group switched programs, which we had 10 rounds today. It's a great work out, fast pace and you will definitely sweat. Our instructor Courtney was great.
Rebel House is a trendy, well designed, and extremely clean facility. I loved that towels, toiletries, and blow dryer are provided. They use natural biodegradable, environmental friendly products exclusively, which is rarely seen at any other gyms.
Rebel House also offer yoga and spinning, which I plan to do in the near future.

This place was ok when it was the only one in town, but it's honestly a little ghetto. Front desk staff is rude sometimes, parking is a pain, and the water for the eucalyptus towels looks sketch. What did it was the billing, I kept getting my card charged for classes I did show up for. Will NEVER go back. There are a couple other studios soooo much better. TORRENT has the most honest to goodness owners, and amenities. They also design their own workout clothes! Rideology isn't super downtown, but also great! And there's MOB CYCLE opening up soon too!

I’ve never met a business that actually does nothing to welcome or even except new customers! A policy that says if you’re three minutes late you can’t join the class when you have never been to the building didn’t realize parking was so difficult is insane. I was hesitant to get out of my car due to someone looking into my car across the street. When I got out I was followed and screamed at my a man on drugs practically into the building and then told I was 3 min late and couldn’t enter and no matter what the system wouldn’t save my paperwork for when I came in again so I couldn’t even get started. Got the feels they aren’t concerned about having new people join their classes!

If you want to try it out on classpass come say early or they won’t let you in!

Every time, I walk out feeling better than when I walked in. Rebel is a community of hard-working, positive people. It’s inspiring and makes my workouts a lot of fun. I love how it’s all based on rhythm which helps me find flow states, and as a drummer, i get lost in the beat and it makes time fly. It’s also a place i can find serenity if I need it that day. I appreciate the culture of riding for a cause and with intention. It’s a place I feel at home and miss it when I spend too much time away from it.

This place is not your regular spin/cycling gym! I started going to Rebel back in September 2017 and have consistently left each time feeling better about myself both mentally and physically. The instructors are wonderful and take the time to get to those in their class. They guide you through a cardio packed, fast paced, 45-minute spin experience that will leave you dripping in sweat. Majority of the class is out of the saddle, with all the tap backs, around the worlds, corners, and push-ups your heart could ever desire. I also love how involved Devin and Nina, the owners, are with all the customers. They are so genuine and truly care about making sure your experience is nothing short of amazing! I'd never taken anything like this before, but I wanted to see what it was about. The staff are super friendly, upon arriving, Devin got me set up on a bike, and the instructor made time to come over and welcome me to the class, mentioning that I should definitely try to keep up, but if I need to, take it at my own pace. The playlist was great, lots of energetic House music, and mixes of stuff that most people know. I was in my zone in no time! This place is great! They have a few problems, first, parking sucks. It’s street parking and it’s limited. Second, even when you reserve a bike on the website like in the back which is where I like it, you’re not guaranteed the spot. Which is annoying if you reserve the spot you should get it. Other then that the music is great, everything is new and it has a cool brand. Every instructor has been amazing and it’s a 45 minute class, it fits your busy schedule! I would recommend this place.
