My boys, 6 years old, have been training here for 2 years. Thiago and his family teach this class. They are by far the best instructors I have ever encountered, especially the kids class. I train at a different gym and teach Jiu jitsu as well. Ive been training for a long time and seen many gyms classes. Thiago’s kids classes are by far the best I have ever seen! The only reason I don’t train there full time is because I teach at the gym I train at. I do take private lessons from Thiago, his attitude, demeanor, knowledge, and skills are world class! Thiago is one of the greatest teachers Ive encountered. Thiago and his family have become mentors for my boys, like a second family. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone, kids, adults, old guys like me, or anyone who wants to learn Jiujitsu!

My children have been attending Renzo Gracie for a little over 4 months now. I can not say enough about how great the instructors are. I have 3 children in classes here. Ages 5(boy), 9 (boy) and 14 (girl). My kids are all so happy here and would come to train 6 days a week if they could. We were at another gym before this one and we had to switch because my kids were getting board. I have seen so much growth with all of my children. Growth not only in physical skills and technique, but also confidence. I encourage all parents to have their kids train in jujitsu boys and girls. These are skills they will keep with them for their whole lives. Jujitsu not only teaches great self defense techniques but also helps build confidence and problem solving skills. I’m so thankful that my family has found this gym it’s been a game changer for us.

I wish I could give this gym more than just 5 stars!! The main Instructor, Thiago, alongside his family are not only extremely knowledgeable in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but they exemplify a discipline and lifestyle that has been picked up by my 14 year old son and given him not only skills in jiu jitsu but also a community and belonging that has been life changing for him and our family. If you are a parent looking for the entire package from skilled instructors that extends to a community of belonging for your kids, choose Renzo Gracie Utah! Thank you, Thank you! 🙏

Training at this jiu-jitsu gym has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The coach and his family are not only outstanding instructors with deep knowledge of jiu-jitsu, but also truly amazing people who genuinely care about each student. They’ve created an environment where respect, camaraderie, and mutual support are part of everyday life.

Thanks to them and the group of teammates that make up this family, I’ve been able to grow both technically and personally. During tough times in my life, this place became a source of support, motivation, and growth. I’m deeply grateful for everything they’ve given me and for the chance to be part of such a special community.

100% recommended—not just as a gym, but as a place where you truly feel welcomed and valued. 🙏🏽

Thiago and his family have completely changed my 14 year old son’s life. He’s found his passion and confidence because of them. We could never thank them enough for what they and Renzo Gracie Utah have helped him achieve . Thiago is a passionate, caring, knowledgeable and invested coach, my son has competed in several competitions and has grown so much because of his influence.
I cannot recommend Renzo Gracie Utah enough they treat everyone like family it’s so much more than jujitsu lessons.

I never thought of martial arts for my girls (6 and 3yrs old) but now I can't imagine them without it. At Renzo Gracie, they are not only having fun, but learning important life skills! I personally love that this gym is family run. Along with his wife, two sons and daughter, Thiago has created a culture of love and support for all. For my girls, Sara (Thiago's daughter) is an incredible role model in how to be a strong, independent, hard working and supportive woman.
I feel lucky we have found Renzo Gracie and will continue to tell anyone who will listen how great they are and the importance of the skills they are teaching.

Both of my daughters (6 & 4) take lessons here. I wanted them to learn a valuable skill for life and the importance of hard work and discipline. Renzo Gracie Utah is exactly what we wanted. The Cub classes are the perfect mix for younger kids to learn. Thiago, Mikaela, Nathan and Sarah are fantastic instructors. They make classes fun and my girls have learned so much in just a few short months. We also have private lessons with Sarah and my girls love her. They can’t wait for every lesson.
I strongly recommend this gym to anyone that wants to learn the fun and fundamentals of BJJ!

Not to get into too much personal issues. I want to start off by saying my son (7) was so excited to learn Jujitsu. We have him in many different sports but even though he's a tough kid we felt like it’s important for him to know how to defend himself. We joined this studio with the highest hopes. My first issue was that the class is 45 min long, and 35 min of class was “warming up” and then 10 min of “sparring and teaching”. So very little time to actually learn technique and there was little to no explanation on what they are doing and why. They are shown a technique and told to then partner up and practice on each other. They had guidance on technique but No real explanation. No lessons that had explained how to de-escalate situations before getting physical. A few weeks in he was allowed to spare and yet my son was often left confused after class on how and why they were doing what they were doing. My son was in a situation where he was choked during sparing and it physically hurt him and scared him. He wasn't even aware that choking was allowed because no one told him or taught him how to. Though I didnt have an issue with learning chokes and how to get out of them, I felt like they just threw my son in the situation. My son had tapped out and the kid continued to to choke him until my son started crying. Afterwards the kids approached me while trying to calm down my son and encourage him to get back in and try again. The kid told my son he shouldn't even try because he was going to repeatedly choke him again and again to which escalated the situation where the instructors wife and I got into a heated argument and she just said i can opt out of sparing if i wanted to. Not to mention she was supposed to be watching them to prevent this situation from happening. Not once did she listen to me or try to understand what I was saying. The studio then tried to push blame on me as a parent rather than trying to take accountability in where they lacked teaching for these kids on why or how to choke and then how to get out of it. Fast forward a month, that same kid had attacked my son at school and hit my son in the face repeatedly during recess and the school contacted me to inform me. I then contacted the studio to inform them and to request that this child not be partnered up with my son to protect my child. And they said okay. (My son was hesitant on not wanting to attend Because of this kid But still wanted to learn jujitsu). We showed up for class and They then took both kids aside and asked if the kids were simply “over it” and my son was the only one to respond and say yes and they said “okay then”. After watching how they handled that situation and the first, along with the lack of care of they given my son during his experience here We have decided that this is not the best studio for us. My son deserves to be in a studio that will give more instruction and explanation on how and why they do things. As well as feeling safe in an environment that will teach and explain chokes to him. Its frustrating that this studio made me and my son feel like the problem. There is a lack of teaching at this studio. Though the instructor is nice and does well with kids, they are lacking structure and instruction. I just want to share my experience for parents and to give them a heads up on our experience. Attached is a photo straight from gracie university, unfortunately this was not what we experienced or learned here.

He has an encyclopedic knowledge of Jiujitsu and a way of teaching that makes learning complex moves easy and fun. My kids love it here.

Renzo Gracie is an academy of family. With the first branch of the family comes with the professor. Professor Felipe is an amazing instructor with detailed and professional teaching skills. The gym is one of the biggest gyms I have ever seen. The mats are cleaned everyday so it takes care of the cleaning-ness. The techniques taught are very detailed but easy to learn with the help from the instructor. I want to give a thanks to Renzo Gracie with providing this amazing academy.

I love going here! The class sizes can range from 5 or 6 people to 20 people and there is a huge mix of experience levels and belts so everyone benefits. It's a great place for beginners and women! There aren't huge egos here and all of the instructors are amazing. I especially love the teaching style of Filipe and Justin. Graysons classes are a lot of fun too and Josh is great but I haven't been to his class yet.

I have been going here since April 2022 and I love it. An incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and supportive group of students and instructors. I was nervous at first being an older guy going to try this for the first time, but the atmosphere has kept me coming back. I'm only able to do the early morning classs for now, and the instructors are top notch. Detailed instruction is always followed with practice, and in my case, plenty of constructive criticism for improvement. Can't recommend them enough.

Visiting from Vegas, we come back frequently to see family since we used to live here. Looked around for a place to drop in and train and after struggling with 3 other schools, called up and spoke with the owner who was super chill and really nice. Dropped in to the 6am class. Very small class but really good guys. Felt extremely welcome and got some good instruction. Definitely going to keep dropping in when we’re up here.

Dropped in from out of town around Christmas time while I was visiting some Family in the area. This was probably the best drop-in experience I’ve ever had at a BJJ gym. It can be very awkward occasionally if you want to train at someone else’s gym, but the owner, instructor and students were all very cool and welcoming. Definitely look forward to coming back next time I’m in town. Oh, I forgot to mention the instruction was top-notch.

This place is simply great. Cameron, the owner and head instructor runs a very comfortable gym. By far, the biggest matted surface I've seen at any gym. Very welcoming to visitors! Cameron quickly replied to my email and let me know I was very welcome and would have fun. On my night that I visited I was fortunate to roll with a number of very skilled, safe blue belts, and it was even promotion night--so we were treated to an heartfelt promotion to purple one...tears and applause, it was great to see! A good mix of ages, gender and experience level made for a great open gym. Although I can now check Utah off my 50-state BJJ list, I hope to get back next time I'm through...thanks to Cameron for opening the door, and Josh, Jacob, and Dave for the rolls!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if you want your son or daughter to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I Would recommend anyone to come and try it out. even if you don't think you can do it. You will learn a move and be begging to come back and learn more moves! Very fun and a good work out too. You leave the gym very happy and with a new sense of empowerment!
