I'm new to cedar city, and I've had a Vasa fitness membership for about a year now, started it in Salt Lake city. Retro fitness is definitely better, has more space, less crowded, and all and all just a overall better gym for training. Only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is the mens locker room always smells terrible, Retro needs to install some sort of air freshening device or whatever can alleviate the smell, unfortunately some men just don't stay on top of hygiene or don't understand curtesy flushing the toilet while dropping a deuce. It's terrible. RETRO if you see this review, make the air freshener strong. Thanks for nice gym and great staff. 👍

This gym used to be the nicest gym I’ve ever been to back when it was new but I went yesterday well visiting family and it is now the most disgusting gym I’ve been in, the gym smells absolutely awful and the bathroom was so bad I couldn’t stand to even enter it when I got home my clothes still smelled like the gym, the equipment cleaning stations are microfiber rags being reused used and over and over. The temperature was uncomfortably hot. I don’t think I’ll return to this gym again.

I really have enjoyed coming here the last few months, all the staff are friendly and I love the sauna and that they offer childcare. However I feel like I’ve seen a steep decline in cleanliness lately. The lower parts of the ellipticals are covered in dust and hair, the same sock was sitting in the locker room for a week, and bits of TP all over the floors in bathroom area, items sitting on the cubby counters by the treadmills sitting there for days. I mentioned this to one of the employees who said he would get it done but the next day sadly things were still dirty. If I see improvement I’ll be happy to update my review.

I canceled my membership and invested in a Tonal and Wahoo Bike Trainer for a home gym—an overall better experience. The gym is often overcrowded with people not working out, machines are frequently out of order, and the restrooms and sauna are filthy. It’s surprising they can’t maintain basic upkeep despite the steady income from members. Recently, a police raid on the gym over alleged drug activity added to the long list of concerns. Save your money and consider a home gym instead—it’s a much better investment.

I like the gym I really do, but I know I'm not the only one that is paying $37 a month just so I can also use the suna. Yet it's down at least half of almost every month. This honestly seems criminal that they don't hire someone that can I don't know do it right, or at least offer some kind of compensation to the people that are paying to use something and the gym can't guarantee you can use it even though you are paying to use it.

I have been a member 4 over a year, I went in today with a guest to have a nice workout and use the tanning beds. I was told by an employee that my guest had to pay for a tan. I have a ultimate membership which includes tanning now, because I questioned her and showed proof that I was correct and she was wrong, they have told me to leave. Never come back and canceled my membership with threat of calling the police on me and charging me with trespassing. I would avoid this place like a plague. All they want your money and are very rude.

Love the variety of machines, weights, and other equipment. I also love how many treadmills there are. Even though they’re frequently used, I’ve never had to wait for an open spot. I’m a big fan of the drinks and supplements sold as well, as I enjoy having those on hand. I’m also a fan of the point system. Earning points is motivation and encourages me to be consistent with my gym attendance.

Retro, however, can be VERY crowded during peak times. It’s important to map out when the busy hours are, as avoiding those will greatly contribute to a better gym experience.

Been going to Retro for a little over 2 months. A few things I noticed.

1. Great gym with alot to offer in terms of equipment.
2. Equipment is in great condition. If there is an issue with a piece of equipment then it is handled quickly.
3. the people that work at Retro are all extremely nice and professional.
4. There are busy times but I have never had to wait or change my workout durring the busy times.
5. A great environment to workout and maintain your health

This gym does not honor military serving their country deployed.

My husband and I are both military and have been members at this gym for four years. I deployed with the military overseas for the last year. Before I left, I froze my membership and was to come back and re-activate my membership at the same rate with no additional charges. Upon my return I was informed my membership had been cancelled and my contact information given to a manager to call me. When a manager called after the third time into the gym asking, he told me that he had no record of my membership being frozen. I provided the email to him but he told me that I would have to sign up for a new membership at a higher rate since mine was cancelled and the rates "had gone up". I inquired as to why my husband's membership could remain low but since I was serving my US military, I had to return and pay a higher rate. He told me he would get back to me but never did after three weeks. I have since gone to another gym and my husband is also cancelling his membership. This is how the gym treats military deployed overseas, shameful.

You'll get kicked out of the gym for the noise you make when you're training seriously in your top set. Because your voice is interfering with other people's banter. If you train seriously at this gym, you'll look out of place. You must use break between sets to discuss and greet others for 10 minutes.
Instead of a gym, it's more like a social place for the villagers of the town. If you follow or know any bodybuilders, you should know that it's perfectly normal to make noise in the top set, I'm doing what I'm supposed to do. But congratulations on getting kicked out of the gym if you try to explain it all to a manager who shows no signs of training! And And I've been racially abused by so many people at this gym that it's hard not to suspect that the manager isn't.
If you want to train seriously, enjoy the training time belong to you, the time focus on yourself. I recommend vasa in this town. this retro doesn't respect people who train hard.

Soooo much to love and appreciate at Cedar City Retro! The staff at the front desk are so chill and helpful, always ready to keep the gym clean especially while it's busy. I'm grateful they provide the childcare ctr, theyre so amazing with all the kids every time I've checked in and my kiddies have grown to love it. I love it too!
The first few weeks of working out was a little stressful; Understandably so, everyone uses the turf and it gets pretty crowded, so we changed to the Strong membership. Sooo much better and I'm relieved the equipment is readily available to help our strengrh training! The people in Strong tho.. they're the most kind members at Retro that I've met! Favorite gym I’ve been to! It is the cleanest gym I’ve been to. There is always someone cleaning no matter what time of day I have gone. They have tons of equipment for just about everything you can think of and there is a good amount of space. Noone at the front desk explains how the membership works. Such as, they don't mention that you can't cancel unless you give a one month notice which means if you don't like it during that first month you will still be charged for your 2nd month and the $52 "maintenance" fee. The sauna has been down for almost a month. The kids that hang out there sitting on machines on their phones are disrespectful. Front desk workers eat their dinners standing at the front desk. Who wants to smell spaghetti when they are working out. Jessica one of the yoga instructors was the only good thing. I would not recommend joining this gym.

Beware of the smoothies!!! Found a wad of hair in my smoothie. The owner refused to give me a refund. The gym itself is meh. There is a lot of space and equipment which is good. Especially comparing it to the local Vasa. I found alot of the weight machines to be awkward and uncomfortable. Especially the treadmills there is no easy way to toggle the incline or speed up and down without typing it in on the screen. I also found it to be expensive. $60 for a month pass and that doesnt include any classes or anything but gym equipment. It is Cedar City so you have to take what you can get. For Cedar City its a decent gym. The two stars are mainly because on the way home from the gym I almost threw up in my car after coughing up the wad of hair I found in the smoothie and the fact the owner refused to give me a refund is ridiculous.

I had to cancel my membership in January due to getting a new job and just no time, I got the yearly fee which is expected and I should have canceled before, my fault. Anyway I also got the monthly fee but Retro charged me an extra 25 dollars. After I saw this extra transaction I went to the office to sort it out. I have had the best experience at Retro Fitness. I love the cardio machines, weight machines, and the smoothies bar. I’m hoping to try some of their classes soon! I’ve been training Leeann W. and I’m so grateful for her! I have been struggling with radial nerve damage and tendinitis. I am trying to get my strength back and my arms and I am literally starting from scratch. I was worried Leeann might be too cautious and not push me enough, and I was worried that she might not be cautious enough and push me to do more than my body was ready for. She was the perfect amount of cautious and she pushed me past what I thought I could do. I am SO happy I found her!
