This place is amazing. I'm not super fit, myself, but I have been a few times and they are wonderful. They're attentive, patient, and I can tell that what they do works. I especially appreciate that my best is good enough and that they're helpful and encouraging. Best gym I have ever been to.

Weights always seemed so intimidating to me.
I joined RFT a bit more than a year ago and I couldn't say enough about how much I have loved training with them. I have found a place to face a lot of my fears when it comes to weight training - functional training. I love the way RFT has challenged not only my body but also my mind.
It is a given that you will see changes in yourself after you step into each of the workout phases.. but what I never imagine about joining RFT was that I found myself feeling incredibly proud of what my body can accomplish if I train it properly.
Thanks RFT (Matt)! I am excited to see you keep growing.

What can I say? This place is one of the best places that I've ever been to to go work out, the owners are amazing and willing to work with all of your needs to get you to where you want to be.
The perfect stress reliever! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I unfortunately had to stop attending for a while but look forward to returning asap.

I've been a member at RFT since 2017 and love it. I joined the gym to get in shape for my first Spartan race and have stayed because there's no way I could continue to train at this level without the help of owner/coach Matt. Smaller class sizes allow Matt to watch closely making sure you're pushing yourself and using proper form. Highly recommend.

Great coaching and programs!
I signed up with RFT 2 years ago. After trying it for a month I sat down with the coaches and told them my goals. I said ā I want to be at a competitive level with Obstacle course Racing. If you can get me to that point by the next race, 2 months away, Iām in for life.ā Not only did they make a plan that got me there it got me to a better level than I was expecting. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. You get results from RFT coaching.

I started working with this gym in February of 2017. At the time I was attending their OCR course a couple times a week to get ready for a Spartan race in the summer. They helped take 15 minutes off of my previous time. After that, I signed up with Matt for online training. With his guidance, I have become faster and stronger over the last two race seasons. I moved from finishing in the bottom third of the elite heats to the top third and even finished this last season with a 22nd place finish in an elite heat (out of 100).
The coaches know what they're doing. If you have concrete fitness goals, they can help you reach them.

Great atmosphere & 1st-class programming. Loved my time at RFT! Matt & coaches are educated, experienced, & care about your well being & progress. They are dedicated to tried & true complete fitness, to make you well rounded and healthy. Highly recommend RFT to all, from the less experienced to the highly dedicated athlete.

As a fairly smallish skinny guy I've been amazed by the improvements in results I've seen in the half year i've been coming to rft. For someone with little experience with lifting free weights matt will really help you as many times as needed to get the right form on free weight lifting. For a middle aged individual this is extremely beneficial so as to avoid injury and get the maximum benefit from the training. theres a lot of variety in classes as well that really challenges your cardiovascular conditioning as well. the classes here are really worth checking out its one of the best workout experiences i've had in SLC and I've gone to many places in town over the years.

Started going here three years ago when I moved to SLC and haven't gone to anyone else for fitness since. I've lived in and out of the country but whenever I'm traveling I still go to Matt for online coaching. He'll work with whatever's available to you. Even puts up with all my complaining (because I actually hate working out) and does his best to motivate.

Fun atmosphere that was less intimidating than I had expected. The people that train here are really chill, and the trainers are great. They are super knowledgeable about the movements and can explain/teach them well. I'd recommend giving this place a try if you are looking for a place to train.

My brother-in-law asked me if I wanted to go to a gym to start working out. I was hesitant at first, but I'm glad I made the decision to go because RFT coaching is literally a life changing experience. I have only started going for 2 weeks and I already feel so much better physically and mentally. I love the feeling of getting up early and feeling stronger as I know the program is well-designed and it WILL work as long as I put in the effort. I highly recommend anyone who wishes to improve their life style to join RFT coaching!

The best gym I've ever been to, period. The coaches here know their stuff. I've worked with plenty of different personal trainers over the years and have never seen the results that I've gotten in the last year with this place.

Awesome gym. Matt and Chris are very knowledgeable coaches. Where else can you get personal attention from the coaches, small classes, and most importantly, real results quickly, in a supportive environment. Love it! Highly recommended.

RFT coaching delivers results as long as the work is done. The coaches take time to know the people they coach and work with them to reach their goals.
I started here last year so I could do OCR competitively, and in 2 months of working with them my stats went from top 100-150 in my races to top 20's in my races and top 100 overall.

Chris and Matt are phenomenal coaches! The classes are challenging and well designed. The atmosphere is fantastic with the 20 person max class size. Fellow athletes (ranging from Elite/Competitive Spartans to beginners) are encouraging, friendly and positive. Pricing for the training, coaching, guidance, nutrition assistance, etc. is an amazing deal! Chris and Matt only want you to succeed, they are conscious of your unique needs based on everything from your goals to past/current injuries, they ensure you are using proper techniques.
On a personal note, I loathe gyms-I LOVE RFT! There are absolutely no creeper meatheads, no flakey bimbos, no mirrors, no bragging stats walls, just good people that are working together to make it through one hard hour of intense training.
There are so many wonderful aspects to RFT, I'd highly recommend!

Between the chain of basic cardio/weightlifting machines and the sea of CrossFit gyms this place offers the best of both worlds. You'll obtain the high intensity workout as well as the functional weight bearing training. Chris and Matt are amazing coaches, they take the time to explain each movement, are constantly pushing you to the limits while keeping you safe. It's always fun to be around them. I highly recommend this place.

If you're like me, you look all over the place reading review after review trying to find the best. If that sounds like you, then this is the review you need to read right here:
If you want to get in shape and if you want to do it right, look no further than Matt and his brother at RFT. Matt is a prior Marine, and he knows exactly how to get you in shape the RIGHT way. He is knowledgeable to a T, explains things clearly with patience, pushes you to help build your physical AND mental strength, and can teach anyone of any age or any health situation.
The class I train with is a mix of age ranges from 20 to 50+. Even in a group, he personally trains and instructs each one of us, custom tailoring to our personal fitness needs and goals. I've gotta say, the class is starting to feel almost like family. It's rare to find a genuinely good company run by genuinely good folks like this, and I am so glad that I did.
Even though I am part of a class with about a dozen other people in it, Matt works so hard to give everyone the customized attention they need that it feels just like you're being personally trained one-on-one.
All around, the training has been TOP NOTCH. Their prices are unbeatable for the professional level of training you gain. I'm trying to figure out what more I can write here to express what a gem this gym and the trainers are. They just flat out ROCK.
Nothing is more important than your health. Make sure you are in the right hands and go with the pros at RFT like I did. Your body and mind will thank you!

I started training with Chris to improve my ranking as an Elite Spartan racer. In just a couple of months I was able to qualify for the Spartan World Championships! I keep improving my abilities and speed which excites me for what the future holds. I completely owe that to RFT coaching!
My training program is specific to my goals and is adjusted weekly. RFT has all the equipment in the gym to help me improve on my races. The coaches have extensive knowledge to help people of every level, as their beginner and elite athletes have experienced.

As a rugby player at the University of Utah, I am always looking for ways to elevate my game. Over the summer, I've gotten bigger, faster, more powerful and stronger in every plane of motion. I'm going into this next season extremely optimistic about my abilities on the field and my durability and ability to stay on the field. Coaches Chris and Matt really know how to put the screws to you in an intense and intelligent manner that really allows you to continue training without injury.
As a veteran, I love this place. It's a place where I can get a bit of that tough love when I'm feeling sorry for myself through a workout. The best part is that they really know their clients. The way they treat me as a veteran (with some tough love) is not how they treat all clients. They seem to know exactly what to say to get through to everyone and encourage them through these toughest of training sessions. This is a great place for anyone and everyone!

Being a Collegiate athlete, I thought I was in shape. RFT Coaching has helped show me what it means to be in shape. Chris and Matt have given me a program that is both tough and smart as I prepare for my final season of college rugby. If you are a serious athlete, or just want to get serious about being healthy, Chris and Matt have the tools to help you achieve your goals.

RFT is such a great gym! I have only been a member for a few weeks and I absolutely love it. The coaches (Chris and Matt) are very professional, knowledgable, and kind. This gym is great for all types of fitness levels, beginner to advanced. If you are looking for a gym that will provide you with challenging and dynamic workouts then RFT is for you. Not to mention that the other members are so nice and inviting; the gym has a great vibe. Come and try them out, you won't regret it!

Unless you make that choice in walking through the doors of RFT coaching then, and only then will you appreciate what they have to offer. I've been coached by Chris Judy for the past 3 years and to me that says a lot. He knows me will enough to push when needed and back off when I've reached my limit. Chris also knows my facial expression that will lead into a "the bucket is right there"...hahaha! His brother Matt Judy is also a coach here and they have the same goals for you in general but, different ways of coaching which is awesome. Your always in for a surprise everyday when you come in for your workouts. At times even the coaches will get down and do the WOD with us as a group. What I love the most about RFT is the "no image" feeling. You workout with awesome people who have similar goals. No one cares what you look like, how much you can lift, what size you are or if you don't know the lingo. RFT has become my "Hanai" family which means adopted. In 2015 I never expected to be blown away in acheiving to rise above myself in a year. I ran my first Spartan race with our coach Chris, did my 2nd with my team mates while coach Matt ran his heat and waited for us at the finish line. I also completed a Trifecta with coach Matt along with my team mates who are now my best friends. I'm also currently doing Chris's online coaching for my Triathalons as well. I feel that what I want matters to them so they will take the time to assist you in any way to accomplish your goals.
On a personal note, I turned 43 years of awesomeness last year and I wanted to do a workout for my birthday. I ended up going to another gym to do it with some of our team mates because RFT was closed and I had texted Chris about it. His reply never seems to amaze me. He text back word for word "All you would have to do is ask! We're a family here remember?".... Nuff said!

RFT has fantastic coaches who support you and help build your confidence in the gym. I've been working with these coaches for over two years and have seen many changes in myself. I am stronger, leaner, and happier than when I wasn't training with RFT. The people that I train with are also supportive and have become some of my best friends. If you're looking for a gym with knowledgeable coaches, friendly people, and a place where you succeed, RFT is for you! I hope to see you there!!

RFT Coaching has become my "home away from home." As a gym beginner, I was very hesitant about what to expect and how anyone would be able to work with my lack of gym skills. The past few months have proven amazing. Just as an example, I have gone from struggling with a 45 lb bar to lifting in triple digits. I have been treated with kindness, patience, and respect. I have not only found a gym that pushes and works my body but one that has helped build a mental fortitude and toughness I was lacking. The coaches have fostered a sense of community, hard work, fun, and family. I love going and being supported and cheered on by my other classmates. I am so lucky to be a part of the RFT family. By far, the best money I spend on myself!
