I can’t say enough good things about SF CrossFit! The people here make this such a positive place to be. I always leave feeling better. I’m in my mid thirties and am doing physical things I never thought I’d do, like rope climbs. If you’re looking for a positive place to create a healthier life, this is it! Love it so much!

I love this place. It is hard! They push you and push you until you either collapse or cry. haha It sounds like a bad thing but it is amazing. If you want the body you see on Instagram it comes with sacrifice. This is the best place I know to get that. Becky, Jana, and Fern. Thank you for encouraging me to join! It has been life changing already and it has only been a few months. I can only imagine the results you could give me if I came more often haha. 😄

I love coming to SFCF, aka The Den. Friendly people and friendly environment. Zero intimidation at The Den. If you’re wanting to just work hard and unwind from your day this is the place. They also have a class for those who want/ like to do more work at a higher skill.

Fernanda, the owner, is an encyclopedia of fitness knowledge and is ready and eager to help.
All of the other coaches are fabulous as well. You can show up to any class time and have a great, safe and fun workout.

I don't normally like gym settings since I don't know how to use the equipment most of the time. But here you have someone guiding you the whole time while ensuring you are doing the workout correctly so you don't get hurt. Best part is if you are injured they will make sure to have other work outs for you to do. If you love to work out in class settings, and love a challenge this is definitely the place for you!

Above. And. Beyond!! I’ve only been with SF CrossFit for a couple weeks but I have to leave a review because this place is the real deal in every way! I was coming out of years of not working out and facing so many obstacles from inability to complete a lot of the movements to scheduling concerns and everything in between. I’m also pretty overweight and have never had much upper body strength and that was a big concern for me but that didn’t end up being a problem at all. Austin was so patient and helpful even helping me brainstorm novel ways to rearrange my schedule and get to class—not at all in a pushy way, you can tell it’s all from a sincerely helpful place.

First I completed a few one on one sessions which consisted of learning and practicing movements as well as a (serious) workout using the new movements I’d learned. All throughout we talked through what level I was at and key performance indicators individualized to me for each movement—for example for biking, I should aim for 45 rpm, for rowing 2:15 per 500m. For ring rows I should place my feet here, or move them forward a little as the movement gets easier. For each movement the coach watched me to gauge where I was comfortable so that by the end of the 1:1 sessions I had a great idea of what I was capable of and how to ramp it up as needed. We also talked about the transition to group classes, how they work and some common modifications I should expect to use. There was a lot of focus on consistency and approaching the whole process in a sustainable way that was going to be worthwhile long term, but I still got a KICK BUTT workout each session. Went home with rubber band limbs and was super sore! In a good way! Even though I have some CrossFit experience, the individual sessions were worth every penny and more to have a clear idea of what I was capable of and confidence in how to approach the group classes.

When I did go to group class not only was I well prepared but the coaches were SO HELPFUL. I have done CrossFit before and I can tell you I get a LOT more personal attention here. Each time I’ve been to class the coach has taken the time to review and demonstrate every single movement during the workout, and to talk to each class member to confirm they know what they’re doing before the workout starts. When we discuss my modifications they really listen to my opinions and concerns and always have great solutions, a lot of times they think of things I haven’t thought of before! A couple of times this has been a multi-minute discussion but they take that extra minute to get the plan right.

And then they watch you like a hawk to make sure you’re doing ok, and check in after to see how you think it went. They’re not chatting or looking at their phones, they’re not multitasking with other tasks like cleaning. They are watching and engaging with the class the entire time. And they don’t just do this with me the newbie—everyone gets the royal treatment. People have come with injuries and there are always a few mods going on but everyone knows what’s going on.

Today just blew me away. I had hurt my back over the weekend (not working out) and I texted Austin frustrated and thinking I definitely shouldn’t work out—I wasn’t in much pain, I just thought working out with a tweaked back was a big no-no. He surprised me by suggesting that I go and gave me specific movements to try. Seriously above and beyond. And guess what?? My workout went great, I got to keep up my new habit of going to the gym, did not further injure myself, and my back actually feels better now than it did when I finished working this afternoon. So proud of myself for prioritizing consistency and getting in a workout today. Thanks Austin! And Heather!!

This place definitely deserves its 5-star rep. Everyone should go here!!

PS My initial consultation happened to take place while the place was being cleaned and I was impressed with the thoroughness. :) Everyone wipes down their own equipment after workouts too. Very clean professional environment!
