Was a good gym- the setup was a little different than what used to. Would like if they had an area for more CrossFit, that still felt close to where weight area was.

Just two things I consider issues with this facility. The equipment and the locker rooms.
If you like squat racks this is the place for you, but Iβve found they donβt have most of the machines I use at my main gym. Also, much of their equipment has weird ranges of motion and most of their leg machines have pretty weird mechanisms. (All of them move your body during the exercise in a very unnecessary way.)
Also, the unoccupied lockers are all locked such that they stay permanently open. Makes changing in a semi-public place just that little bit more uncomfortable.

Took a team here with a charter bus. There was absolutely no where to park. I had to go find a different parking lot to park and wait.

The Front desk experience was atrocious. They're students and they act like students, so don't expect to actually have a professional experience, I doubt they're even getting paid because they don't act like it, as someone who's not an alumni or student that was there for the human performance lab - You're going to have a very awkward and unwelcoming experience.

The two stars are for all the young students working there. Always welcoming.
(This is what I overheard: "However, when it comes to the school/admin, you get an idea where the priorities are. As a student the pool's availability used to be quite restricted and randomly "not available", let's see how it'll go this time around. The female locker's showers appeared, well, some kind of sick joke, complete disregard or a cheaper solution to monitoring the area against crime and at the same time fight the non existent draught, π")

Average gym with inconvenient hours. Frequently closed for random events and school brakes unlike traditional gym.

Always clean when I go in. Never had a negative interaction with staff or patrons. Wide variety of equipment to use. There is a lower track and a upper track to run on.

Very underwhelming in the weight lifting sections. Probably 60-70% of equipment is older or starting to show signs of wearing out. Cardio stuff is good. Idk about the pool. I thought it was going to be a really nice facility. It focuses on the tracks, and basketball courts. Those are nice. Itβs just a little underwhelming if youβre looking for weight lifting. Follows the trend of the whole campus. I honestly donβt really know what all the tuition and parking tickets pay for. Itβs just a really basic campus, and the gym is no exception.

I love a gym thatβs got all the stuff and isnβt crowded (summer semester) that also doesnβt blast pop music from the radio. Points off for the cold showers, but otherwise sublime

The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because the school's cheerleaders are so disrespectful when they're training in this gym. They blast their music at an insanely high volume which makes it near impossible to use the track or most of the weights area. It is unnecessarily louder than it needs to be.
They usually have their stuff strewn out all over the track, and frequently cross right in front of runners or sit/stand right in the middle of the track while it's in use.
I think WSU should hold them to the same standards as other patrons. I also pay my dues to use this gym, but if I, or anyone else, were behaving the way they do we would be asked to correct the behavior or leave.
It reflects badly on the school and sets a poor precedence that student athletes are exempt from certain standards.

An indoor track event was great at this location. Plenty of room on the basketball court to set up with a blanket or folding chair for the day while waiting for our events.
If not there for the organized track event, the gym appeared to be well equipped for weight lifting, exercise bikes, and there is a climbing wall.

Weber State Army ROTC had a new Instructor onboarding and he and I, the Admin for the department, received the grand tour of Swenson Gymnasium. It was very thorough and informative. There is soooo much available in this facility and all of it is for the betterment of our health. They have a great team at Swenson and we at WSU are lucky to have all of their options available. Keep up the great, Great, GREAT work Swenson Gym staff!!

The gym itself is nice but it's hardly ever open for the convenience of the students. They close randomly and without notice, and sometimes Google isn't notified. You'll drive all the way out there to work out just to find that it's closed.

They play wack music when working out. Most of it is never work out music but weird slow depressing old people music. All 4 of their touch screen treadmills broke down and it's been 2 months since any of them have been fixed. These treadmills are my favorite. They are taking away the private work out room. They always show propaganda news FOX news on the t.v.'s and sports channel on every other channel. Someone played Ellen's Game of Games once and everyone enjoyed that but they don't play any interesting shows on t.v.
There showers and restrooms are kept real clean. The running track is large and sturdy. Staff are pleasant and greet you often when coming in.

It's nice that they have tables outside the gym if you need to step out. I recommend ear plugs as it is extremely loud and I wish they sold earplugs at the place. They turn off the vending machines during games so you have to get food from their snack bar.

Only building on campus that requires checking in via wildcat card/number to get inside-even if you're not going to the gym itself (a good half the building is classrooms). Super irritating and pointless.

I have been a member at almost every gym in Ogden. There is no better gym than WSU's. They have bumper plates and racks for Olympic style lifts, two running tracks, wall balls, kettle bells, and everything you can think of for the "average" gym patrons. It can get busy in the fall and spring so going off hours means no waiting. When I was a student it was free. Now that I am an Alum the community price is well worth it. Since they upgraded in 2011-ish, this is hands down the best gym in Weber county. I rarely interact with staff but they are friendly...and sometimes the weightlifting team is in there and they don't mind when I ask for advice on form :)
