I really love the lessons here, so it makes me feel bad that I’m no longer taking my baby. Unfortunately, the business side of this place feels very sketchy.
They constantly run promotions, which is what originally got me interested. After my paid month ended, I asked to cancel my membership and just pay as I go. Even though I paid in cash at the front desk, they still added a $15 charge to my account, and I kept getting emails about it.
I’ve also received multiple emails advertising “50% off punch passes,” which I was told would be $70 for 10 passes. When I called on 11/17 at 9:30 AM to purchase it, the front desk told me the price was actually $125. When I explained the offer I received, all I got was, “Sorry for the misinformation.” No accountability, no honoring the price.
It really feels like the prices change depending on who you talk to, which doesn’t inspire trust. The lessons are great, but the inconsistent pricing and lack of professionalism make the experience frustrating.

Paige has changed everything about how my daughter sees water. She went from disliking it to loving it and her instructor! Swimkids has turned into an activity my daughter talks about all the time, just waiting to come learn. We love it so much.

Swim Kids has turned my son into a confident and capable swimmer! He went from clinging to the edge of the pool to jumping into the deep end switching from backfloat to breast stroke and everything in between!

We have been doing fast track lessons with Ari for about 6 weeks now for our 2 year old and it has been great. She is such a patient and kind instructor and because of the he has been making such progress in the water. The location is clean has a nice play area for before or after lessons which is so nice. All the staff is friendly. I'd say it's worth money

DO NOT PUT A CARD ON FILE!!!!!- Was happy with the lessons and progression until they made an unauthorized charge and refused to address it since it was the weekend, even though they’re open. Was given no one to call, no supervisor (in the text I had to use, Avarie claimed they were the supervisor but had no ability to do anything besides text apparently). Was told a manager was “unavailable” but then was told they had been reached and responded, but still wouldn't do anything about it. I was told they “accidentally” didn’t put a drop date on the lessons I signed up for as the reason for the charge. As someone who isn’t rich and only was able to put her kid in lessons due to a discount offer, guess my family is going without groceries this week. They don’t care though cause they have my money and will supposedly get back to it at some point next week when they’re not busy being crooks.

Their experienced instructors, they're great with the kids, they have a playroom for when you're waiting for your return to swim or after you have your swim lesson that kids can go play in it, my child early seems to like her instructor and i'll let you know right away if your swim lesson has to be canceled and they put a credit on your account for a different day so your child don't miss a swim lesson.

Agree with other reviewers. They have bad policies for parents and overly strict cancelation/makeup rules. They were Unwilling to accomodate the way we needed for special needs. However, Instructor was very nice. Though she didn't explain why we did different things. Like what was the point to some of the games? What skills were the kids learning? That would have been really nice to have explained. We are sceptics. If we do go back it'll be because there aren't many places that teach infant survival skills.

This place was so lame. Didn’t do anything I wasn’t already doing with my baby, which was below basic. On a day there were only my baby and another, I thought it would be great to be able to to get more instruction but the swim “teacher” brushed me off and chilled by herself on the wall of the pool.

Very disappointed. Infrastructure of the place is good, instructor was kind to all the kids but besides that it just feels about the money to me.
Prices are ridiculously expensive and it feels they just try to trick you with different policies, etc to get your money. I also enrolled my daughter through text/phone call where they were nice but just after I paid.
We couldn’t make it to the second class, we got a text from them saying that we missed it and that for next time we can change it, etc. Which was nice so then I was making some questions about how to make up a class. I asked if I could make up the class we missed since I didn’t know and she responded “Hey Maria! Were you unaware you had a lesson on Thursday? I see your classes are scheduled for every Thursday at 5:30 :)” which sounded pretty sarcastic/sassy to me. Believe me, I know when my daughter has those lessons but I don’t think I had to explain what’s going on in my life to tell you why we couldn’t make it. I’m just asking if is possible to make up the class, if it’s not, no problem. I was just checking but that attitude it’s not necessary and then she kept going but when I asked for her name she changed her attitude and was nicer.
Anyway, not recommended, not going back, not worth the money at all. It’s cute to see your kids in the water but this wasn’t for us.

Swim Kids Layton is doing a complete highway robbery for its loyal customers! We have been a swimkids customer for 2 years now, then they went blindsided us completely. They are charging $39 for a 15 min lesson. Thats almost $160 per hr! Wow! They even copied my military ID (that's supposed to be 20%) and I am still being charged the full $39 per 15 min swimming lesson. Called their office directly and asked if I can talk to the manager directly and they said they are on a retreat. I guess the managers are having a nice ol' retreat using our money to enjoy themselves! This is still on-going and it happened back in August. As of posting this, still no refunds, phone call, or even text back from any managers.
If you need an easy stealing high money from customers and individuals, I guess apply for swimkids layton instructor! You are getting paid $160 per hr or maybe their managers whose enjoying their retreat that's stealing most of it!

My child loves it (just because she loves the water, but after starting this she is starting to not want to go) They don't try new things with the kids to help them out. Every kid learns different and it seems they just stick to the same thing over and over again even if it isn't working for them. My kid sits in there screaming for me and they just keep doing the same thing and dont try something else and come back to it. Some instructors are great but you just have to find the right one. I took her out of it because of that and also, they randomly up their prices without telling you and just laugh in your face when you ask about it. They said they sent out an email but I went through everything and did not see anything mentioning this. I would have loved to keep going but my daughter isn't even close to swimming after 3 months. This may be a good place to go if your kid already knows the basics and you just want to get them better at swimming but not for beginners.

We love Swim kids! My sis got my 2 year old a punch pass for Xmas. Her neighborhood has a pool so she wanted her niece to have some safety swim lessons. The punch pass has been amazing to try out the different instructors and get a feel for it. The instructors have all been patient and kind and have great techniques to teach her how to swim! I will be continuing her swim lessons after the punch pass and I feel like the price is a great value.

My son enjoyed the lessons, but the chlorine in the water was so strong that it triggered a severe eczema flare-up, which has now become uncontrollable after just two lessons. He had to get a skin injection three days after his first lesson, and now I need to take him to a specialist since his eczema isn't responding to treatment anymore.
We attended one trial session and one paid session, but because of their no-refund policy, I won’t be reimbursed for the annual fee or the lessons I've already paid for, even due to medical reasons.
Additionally, my son is at Level 3, and I informed the instructor about this (same instructor for both sessions), but she didn't make a note of it. She repeated the same conversation at both sessions, just one week apart, and focused on basic skills he already knows. The instructor said she would move him to Level 2 next lesson, but I didn’t have time to explain further since the next child was ready for their session. I would recommend finding a different place with more competent instructors.

I bought a punch pass last year for my kids and was surprised to see a $70 fee pop up at the start of the year in addition to what we already paid. Their policy states “An automatically renewed, $30 per child Registration Fee is required for all students enrolled in a single lesson or class.” Makes sense, except we’re not enrolled for any classes yet. I wish I had known about the policy and wish the staff was more willing to work with us.
TLDR- plan on an extra $35 per kid on top of what you pay for lessons and DO NOT buy a punch pass

This is not for every kid. My oldest daughter had a great experience and took well to the lessons. My son did not. Hundreds of dollars later and he does not swim. We were done once the instructor watched him sink and struggle at the bottom of the pool. She was irritated having to save him from drowning although that was a situation she put him in. I also tried my youngest, a toddler at the time and the instructor started dunking her head in the water without any notice or previous instructions. Each visit that's all they did was just continuous dunking. She was screaming to get out each time coughing up water. Terrifying to see. Two years later and my daughter is still traumatized of water.

Everyone there is super kind, they make the kids feel very comfortable. For my son, once a week private lessons didnt result in a lot of progress after several months, but once we moved to twice a week they were able to get him really swimming in about 2 months. They have a variety of instructors, which is great since different kids respond best to different instruction, just make sure to find one that is a good match for your kiddo. They definitely teach safety first, but make is fun for the kids. A great option to keep kids active in the winter.

Decent but I wouldn’t recommend them. They have levels that each child needs to pass off on before moving to the next level. My son has done great except for one part of a level that he wasn’t getting. From my understanding they wanted him to be able to flip over faster but everything else he did perfectly. They worked on that one skill for 4 months. In my opinion, if he isn’t getting it, then try teaching him a different way. There’s no reason to be paying for a private lesson when they can’t actually tailor it to help the child learn. I wasted a bunch of money when I should have spent that money on either a group class or an actual private class and I would have gotten better results with either one, don’t make my same mistake by thinking that you’re paying more for a better value, you’re not.

I've put my six-year-old in swim lessons for two fast track sessions. He has gone from always wanting to wear a floaty in the water, to swimming and floating on his own. I feel much more confident about having him in the water with the skills he has learned here. I appreciate that the lessons always start right on time and the full 15 minutes are fully utilized. The teacher always gives me a report of how he's doing, what he did well and what he's still working on. FastTrack is definitely the way to go so they get multiple lessons in a short period of time and not forget what they're learning in between

First of all, swim teachers are great. That's where the good ends.
This place has no flexibility. Need to reschedule? Make sure it's 2 WEEKS OUT. Parents know that plans can change suddenly, but too bad, you just have to eat the cost. Kid is sick? At least you have 24 hours.
You find out your kid is too afraid and you want to work with them and postpone classes? Nope. No flexibility.
Also, high star reviews are probably from them fishing for them. "Write a review and get a free treat", "give us a review to enter for a chance to win free swim lessons for a month"
High prices (which are fine because the swim teachers should get paid decently), but then have better policies around flexibility.

I would not recommend this place based on their cancellation and rescheduling policy and total inflexibility to work with varying children. There is lots of fine print and they are not flexible at all, which if you have kids you know things never work out as expected and there needs to be some flexibility. The front desk doesn't know their own policy and gave me wrong information. I tried to reschedule a class a week ahead of time and was told I have to give 2 weeks notice. My child was sick and throwing up a couple hours before a lesson and they said I just lost that lesson. When I found out the lessons were 15 minutes I should have followed my gut and found somewhere else. They cut off lessons sometimes before the 15 min which are already too short are up, because they have another kid coming in right after. My child was scared of the water at first and would not get in. The teacher was nice and worked with him but the lessons are booked back to back with no buffer time and the front desk would give no options for rescheduling, changing the type of lesson or tips or anything to help the situation. We were late one time because my kid of course had to go to the bathroom right before we left the house and took his time, when I got there the teacher had already gotten out of the water and I was told I just lost that class. I had to pay for those 15 minutes whether my kid was there or not so the teacher should have been there for whatever minutes we could get there for. I am a working mom with multiple kids and on those days you need a little grace even just a few minutes but this place doesn't have any to spare. Maybe if they didn't have so much overhead with such a big space and paying for their franchise they could be more flexible, I would suggest another place. The teachers are good the staff have not been helpful. Also they do a lot of promotions to collect good reviews which is why they have so many.

My two kids have been taking lessons there for quite some time and there are a few points I want to make. First the lessons are short (15 minutes), but they are 1 on 1. I think the kids are getting more quality instruction in that amount of time than a group class for on hour. Second, Yes the lessons are "expensive" but if you are going to spend any serious time around water, I can think of something that's a lot more expensive that you really don't want to pay for. Third, the instruction method works and from multiple examples works well. One of the earliest focus areas is how to float on one's back in a survival situation. In other words, your child is swimming and they get tired and need a break etc. I have seen both of my children use this technique while playing in the pool multiple times since starting the instruction and seeing that alone makes all the time and money worth every bit of it. There is more I can say but this is long enough. Bottom line, you'll never regret your child learning to swim.

Staff is friendly but has given me terribly false information on several occasions now.
The make up policy is an absolute mess, I was told make up tokens are automatically applied to the following months billing (which makes perfect sense) but apatently that wasn't true....you have to call and schedule a make up outside of your regular appointment. Make up tokens expire in December regardless of when they were accrued. All management does is say "well you signed the paper". I was forced to sign on the spot , the day of his first lesson. He was gifted these classes by his grandmother and has not improved whatsoever. It wasn't even a paper I signed, it was a screen. The play room is an absolute disaster area with broken equipment that isn't replaced.
After we use these make ups, so I'm not out almost $300, we will be switching to another swim school. Kids get sick, especially in winter. I highly encourage management to be a little more understanding. I called today to cancel for the year, that's when I found out we were already charged and ZERO REFUNDS will be given, no exceptions. Eventhough we've all been incredibly sick and my little guy has a 103° fever. Oh yeah, and the make up Apts cannot be scheduled more than a week out so we're now forced to slam these in between other activities, work, and medical Apts. Before they expire in 2 months.
Not acceptable or accommodating at all, I know they aren't doing very well right now but I'm sure this has something to do with it. People just don't put up with this type of zero exceptions policy.

We love swim kids. We have both our kids enrolled and they love it. Karli is very patient and fun! My only difficulty is absences have to be 2 weeks in advance to get makeup token which is impossible most of the time with my job and illnesses.

SwinKids is absolutely amazing!! We enrolled our granddaughter two weeks ago and she has excelled so quickly. The swim instructor is amazing, Miss Olivia. The staff are so kind and helpful! The establishment is very clean and there are many options such as family changing rooms and a very nice locker room with multiple showers and changing stations. Swim kids also had a playroom for children for after swim which is so fun. It’s a wonderful place for toddlers and all ages of children to establish social skills and to meet kids their own age. I highly recommend SwimKids! Come take a tour and see for yourself!

I have several small grievances that added up to a very low over all rating.
My kid took several “fast track” lessons. The first few were with student teachers and they did really well. Once they switched to Olivia they actually regressed in their swimming. She was very rude with the kids, and seem like she hated being there.
Their scheduling process is a pain and if you have multiple children you want enrolled it’s hard to do it without spending multiple hours there.
Their make up policy is lacking, and the reoccurring lessons are just awful.
They NEVER answer their phone, and very rarely return phone messages (1/3 and they texted back) Overall very disappointed in my experience. We’ve used hunsaker swim in the past and love them, I had hoped we could make swim kids work, even though they are much more expensive, so that we could continue lessons year round.

We love this places. My daughter had a water phobia and they were very patient with her, gently pushed her and encouraged her to do better. First we only came to help her get used to being in the water and now she loves swimming. They also offer a nice indoor playground if you arrive early or have to wait between lessons. We would definitely recommend.

I was so excited to have my sons swim lessons here and I was put on a waiting list for months. When I finally got scheduled I took the first 3 Fridays off of work so I can experience his first lessons since my husband was going to be the one taking him. They canceled all of his lessons because their building wasn't ready yet. I was really bummed and frustrated especially since they don't refund your money because of the documents that you sign. I think its truly unfair that they are able to keep my money for a service I didn't recieve. I am now going somewhere else and we are way happier there.

We have loved being able to take private swim lessons during the winter! I think it’s so important to keep swim skills during the cold, and so this is wonderful to be able to have somewhere to continue learning. Our Coach, Olivia, was so patient with my 4 year old. He struggles to always listen, but she never got frustrated or annoyed with him and just keep gently reenforcing what she wanted wants him to do while allowing him to enjoy the water.
I love private lessons and feel like my kids have improved so much more with a private instructor.

Update- we've gone through the fast track and private lesson program. They set my kid up for success and got her interested in competitive swimming. Kennedy was an amazing teacher and we're sad to be at the end of the program!

Swim kids is great. Most of the actual instructors are amazing and deserve 5 stars. However the company itself should be a 3/5. They never let us know when a lesson gets canceled or rescheduled. To the point we walk in like we normally do every week, 4 year old so excited to swim only to be turned down because someone from the office didn’t care to reach out. Again. Great instructors, poor customer service.

Lessons are horribly overpriced for what you are getting, especially with the pool being so small and out of a house. After trying out 3 different teachers for my 5 yr old, it was very clear there is an inconsistency in training and working with kids because each session was completely different (and not in a good way). On top of that, when we decided it wasn't worth it and wanted to cancel lessons, Swim Kids had to rob us for every last penny possible instead of listening to genuine concerns about their ridiculous cancellation policies. Would not recommend to anyone!!! YOU ARE BETTER OFF TAKING YOUR KIDS DOWN TO THE REC CENTER!!!

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. It's an absolute nightmare to cancel lessons, they'll keep billing you even after you cancel, then send you to collections and eventually sue for their incorrect billing. Very difficult staff to work with, and very unreasonable. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else for your kids' swim lessons.

Brianna was an amazing teacher for our 2-year-old son. It was easy to book classes over text message, and the punch pass offered us the flexibility we needed during the summer. But, wow, classes are so freaking expensive- costing over $20 per 15 minute lesson. This is our first child, and our first experience with swim lessons. I was really disappointed, when I talked to other parents who had their young children in one-on-ones swim lessons, to find they were paying half the price that we were. And then just a few weeks in, they moved from their Kaysville location to their Syracuse location, which was not as nice and took us way out of our way. So between the steep prices and the poor location, it brought our experience to a 2.5 star rating.

The teachers are great! My boys learned quickly.. But the "office management and billing" is awful! I paid for a Fast Track but the weekend before my son started they told me there was a booking error and he needed to do a different class. So we settled on once a week. I paid for 9 classes and received 3. And when I asked to makeup the extra classes they CHARGED ME AGAIN! I called them and spoke to someone that said they would put in a refund request. I have also sent an email. I'm hoping this company will do the right thing and I can amend my review.
Edit 6/26/2021: Customer service to refund my money was quick. They contacted me via phone and text to let me know that they were indeed in the wrong and sent me my refund immediately. Changing from 2 to 4 stars because of this.

It’s pricey for swim lessons, but worth it
If you get the right instructor. My son has sensory issues and went through 2 instructor before getting Brianna, who’s an angel, and he loved her. She was so patient and caring. I had 2 kids attend and it’s made a huge difference. My 5 yo swims like a champ.
Admin is very difficult to work with, it’s difficult to cancel a class, difficult to reschedule, and difficult to talk to someone in person. So if you vacation or need to change schedules often, I wouldn’t recommend. My son broke his elbow and was out for 4 weeks, even though he wasn’t taking classes I still was paying to keep his spot. They kept billing me, but after the 4 weeks they kept scheduling other kids for his spot (even though they said we were back on the schedule)and never put him back in his spot. We showed up 2 times and they denied lessons, even though they said we were good and billed us foe lessons. We ended up canceling and paying a month of lessons that he never attended.
They are great foe winter lessons cause it’s indoor, but if you’re looking for just summer lessons , especially in Davis County, there are a ton a private swim lessons in the area that might be better.

Our experience with Swimkids was filled with frustration and we were pretty discouraged with a lack of progress. Our 4 year old was comfortable in the water to begin with and honestly made few improvements during his time there. We did 17 (!) lessons over the course of 2 months and never increased in levels or skill set. They were so focused on a certain set of skills being met (rolling over on his back, floating) that he never even got to practice actually just swimming. This program seems more designed for children who are scared of water and parents want them to become more comfortable in the water, not for learning to swim the length of the pool or learning to jump in and swim. Our other frustration was with a lack of communication overall. We signed up with a specific instructor and changed our lesson time halfway through to accommodate her schedule and be able to stay with her. However there seemed to be a miscommunication and we were passed between four different instructors in a two week period and it left my child feeling confused about who he was working with. On the positive side I will say the facility is very clean and the heated pool was nice during the colder months.

My daughter started at 4 years old with ZERO swimming experience and after watching 2 classes I thought it was hopeless, she would never learn... but hey, she couldn't get any worse! Fast forward a few months and she can actually swim, turn and float!!!! She is almost 5 now and has a long way to go but boy the progress is REAL!!!!! I am so glad I didn't give up, she loves the classes and it gives me peace of mind since I lost a brother to drowning. Swimming classes are one on one, quick classes once a week but at the child's pace and focusing on necessary activities to actually learn! Definitely recommend them!!!
