Showed up to watch my daughters perform. Was told at the door I needed to pay $30 to watch them despite hundreds of dollars I've already spent on concert fees. Apparently there's a small window of time where you have to go pick up the tickets in person or you're hosed. No exceptions. Was gifted a single ticket by someone in line (thank you!). Wife went in and talked to the Director. She was told to leave by the Director. Director came out to talk to another family in the same situation (lots of people weren't aware they they needed to go in person and pick them up). Made absolutely no exceptions. Paying the concert fee apparently doesn't guarantee you a spot to watch your children. Lesson learned. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I have gone to this place for many years. I had 4 dancers going here. Most of the dance teachers are teenagers, they have very little idea as to what they’re doing. The dance routines don’t turn out very good. If you try to ask a teacher a simple question, the teachers won’t know the answer because everything goes through the main person, Jill.
Jill is the only person the runs this place. She’s hardly at the studio and awful to work with when she is at the studio! I was scammed into buying extra dance shoes from her simply because she insisted my daughter try the second pair of dance shoes. Then she argued that I had to buy both pairs of dance shoes (which were very expensive) due to “sanitation”. She has very little manners when you ask questions. I did not like working with her!
Jill made all the parents pay for a dance recital at the end of the year. Dozens of parents and I didn’t see the announcement to pick up the “tickets” we paid for at the studio ahead of time. When arriving at the concert, dozens of parents and myself were told we had to pay $15 per person to get in. They didn’t care that we had already paid for the event. It was a joke, and many parents were very angry, expressing to “never go back to the dance academy again”. Year after year, I stayed quiet about how I felt about this company. I wouldn’t suggest putting your money in to I this company. It’s worth going somewhere else.

We love The Dance Academy!! My daughter has danced there for 13 years. It is such a positive for her and I’m so grateful the music, costumes, and dance moves have been held to a high standard the whole time she has danced here. The teachers are amazing. They lied to our team saying they can have their original teacher and their original class if they joined the studio. However, they told the teacher she could not teach there and made the girls dance with kids not on their levels so they have not learned anything making this entire studio useless. The owner lied and is trying to make a buck scamming these parents. They then pulled these girls dance from the recital after they already bought the costumes and know the dance. $15 tickets for a recital where you pulled there dance. Not happening. You’re not getting another cent from our original studio nor any of these girls parents. You scammed them and made them hate your studio. Good job.

We came to TDA after my daughter's original dance studio closed. We had been with her original studio for many years so the move was very difficult and my daughter was not looking forward to joining a new dance "family". Growing up in a family that owned and ran a dance studio has honestly made me quite particular about choosing a studio for my own kids. The Dance Academy offers a really outstanding dance program for all ages of children and teens. The studio is friendly and nice to work with. They really take into account ages and abilities to make it the best possible experience for your student. They offer a large variety of different dances so each person can see where their interest lies. They also offer combo classes, team, and traveling team opportunities. I’m not a person to write a bad review, but lately I’ve been disappointed with this company. We were really hopeful that this dance studio would be a good choice for our 5 year old. We put her in an open class. The Fall/Winter season was good but during the Spring season our daughter didn’t end up learning her full dance until less than a month before the show. When I emailed my concerns about this the company responded with a “thanks for letting us know”. No issues with the actual teacher just the unfortunate way the situation was handled.

TDA’s owner Jill has been amazing to work with. We are first time dance parents with a very shy toddler who has a hard time leaving mom. I can not say enough good things about TDA. This was our 4th dance studio and I will never take my girls anywhere else. I love that TDA helps and wants the dancers to become their best selves. Jill and the other teachers are very supportive. I have not had one bad experience with them and we’ve been there for over 2 years now. My daughters love and look forward to going to class. TDA has helped my 7 year old become more confident in herself in dance and at life in general. My daughter has danced here for 3 years, the last two on a competition team. I love how organized they are and how prepared the dancers are for performances. I also appreciate that the dance moves and costumes are all age appropriate! My daughter has grown so much as a dancer but also developed confidence and is less shy because of her time with The Dance Academy. The studio is super easy to work with and all of the instructors as well as the owner are 100% there to help our kiddos succeed.

I have also appreciated how well they have handled the COVID-19 situation. They have followed all state guidelines and are going above and beyond to make sure the kids are clean when they attend, that nobody is sick, that there aren't too many people etc. They have made it possible for our dancers to follow the guidelines and still complete their competition season which is no small feat. Even when we were all quarantined, they provided online classes to keep our dancers active. I can't imagine being a business owner during this pandemic and hey have handled it legally, professionally and in a way that accommodated everyone and their comfort level.

We love TDA!!! My daughter has been going here for 4 years and has absolutely loved every minute of it. We love the talented and knowledgeable teachers, age appropriate costumes and the safe and friendly atmosphere of the classes.

My daughter has learned so much and continues to grow with her dance and tumbling skills. She has made so many friends and looks forward to dance every week. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place for their daughter to attend!

We love The Dance Academy. The instructors really care about my girls—are personal, kind, helpful, engaging, disciplined, structured, & build their skill set and confidence. The dance choreography is fun, unique and creative; plus the moves aren’t suggestive & the costumes are modest. I’ve had four girls dance here—ranging from toddler beginners who delight in the princess and other-themed days to grade schoolers who enjoy this hobby in a no-pressure environment to girls who’ve wanted to advance in tumbling to a daughter who lives for dance and loves being on a company team with competitions, more intense instruction, and greater opportunities to shine. This dance studio decided to restart dance classes during the current health crisis, which seems very dangerous, and on top of that refused to refund me just because I didn't want to send my daughter to get SICK!

My daughter started taking dance lessons last year. The lessons were mediocre at best and overpriced. My biggest concern however is that this studio decided to restart dance classes in the middle of the current COVID health crisis. Not only is that likely illegal, they refused to refund me money because I didn't want my child or my family exposed to that kind of risk.

My 3-4 yr old daughter LOVED going to dance classes here, she loved the teacher (Starbursts class) and did so well in the winter recital despite only having been a part of the group for a few weeks. We were here visiting for a couple months, and it was so nice to have a fun activity for her to participate in. I can already tell it has helped so much with her coordination, confidence, and social skills. If we ever come back to Utah, this is definitely where we would want her to be. Thanks again! :)

We have been going to TDA for a few years now and have been very impressed with the progress my daughters have made. They absolutely love going to class and they have enjoyed their teachers. Mrs. Jill has taught my younger daughter for two years and she has been very kind and loving with her. I have watched her teach the class many times and I am very impressed with her patience with the young dancers! I am also very impressed with their prices! This studio is absolutely amazing! Both of my daughters have danced there for years. I started dancing for Jill when I was 3 years old I danced for her till I was 11 years old! With that being said, two generations dancing at this studio! I love that my children dance there and I trust her and her staff with my children. They always put the children first!

I drive from Herriman to Lehi 3 times a week because of our love for this studio, teachers, and their techniques. There are tons of other dance studios close to where we live but none like TDA. Jill and her staff go above and beyond for each and every student. That’s the reason they are worth so much more than just 5 stars.

As a dad, I can say that my daughter has had an amazing experience at TDA. Watching her grow over the years has been really fun to see. Her confidence has grown in incredible ways. From her early days jumping all over the stage as a toddler, to now being part of team’s receiving regular awards, I can’t imagine not having her at TDA.

My wife came home with our daughter on the second week of dance very upset stating that after class was done, our daughter was in tears because she was left unattended in the lobby after her class was over. She even told us that no adult stayed with her or even came up to her while she was crying. My wife was even on time when the class got done. We dropped her out of this dance class because of them leaving our child unattended. And safety is a major priority to us. You never leave children unattended. The instructors need to be with the kids until they are safely with their parents. And it looks like from other reviews, children being left unattended here is happening a lot.

Echoing the review above, I was there today when this happened. The 3 year old WAS left unattended (by staff), myself and one other Mom spent the hour trying to get her to say her name or her parents name and searching Facebook and Google for possible parents. We did look in the parking lot. The truth is Jill made a mistake in saying she wasn’t on the roll, sent the child outside of the class to sit alone (anyone could have easily walked off with her or she could have easily left herself out the front door). I know of 2 other moms who were upset enough today by Jill to take their daughters out of class. To make matters worse, when confronted Jill did not own up to anything. She argued with the Mom and made excuses. She seemed to be more worried about her insurance policy than the safety and well-being of the child. If my 2 year old had been left like that I’m sure she would be terrified. It would have been better if she would have just freaking apologized and been done. And not rolled her eyes at the Mom. I don’t blame the Mom one bit for coming unglued and using language.

This was my daughters first year (2 years old) and all communication I’ve had with Jill has been negative. She didn’t answer any of my questions nicely, but came across condescending and like I was stupid. I had been warned my multiple people about Jill but thought I’d give this a try anyway since Jill wouldn’t be her teacher and the price was right.

My daughter has danced at The Dance Academy for 8 years. I appreciate that they really focus on proper technique, qualified instructors, age appropriate routines, and modest costumes. I also love that they provide an environment that fosters great self esteem & builds friendships. We have never felt like just another number at The Dance Academy.

If I could give zero stars I would. The owner is a liar who doesn’t care for children at all. The way she treated my daughter was despicable. Jill decided to leave a three year old unattended in the lobby for the duration of her class because she claimed my daughter wasn't registered. I was in the parking lot for half of the class, did anyone look for me? No. Did anyone call me? No. Ask yourself what kind of person would treat a three year old like that before leaving them in Jill's care.
