My family attended a catered event at Sand Hollow last month. (October 2025). My sister paid a lot of money, only be treated as if she was not “good enough” to be there.
I will say, Miranda, the event coordinator, was so beyond unprofessional, down right rude, and condescending.
It is 2025. Nobody should be treated this way, especially as a paying guest.
If an establishment allows people such as Miranda, to lead events, they may want to think about furthering training, ensuring their employees are able to treat ALL guests with dignity and respect.
We are a very well established family in Southern Utah, and we will be sure to spread the word of the racism, eye rolling, overcharging, and absolute disgust we received as paying guests, from Miranda and employees.

We attended a catered event at Sand Hollow. My family paid a lot of money and got the worst service and coordination. Miranda l, who claimed to be I charge, was very unprofessional. She constantly rolled her eyes at us guests. She refused to offer extra lemonade and iced tea until my sister paid an invoice for it, on the spot. In my experience of hosting catered events, We would have just been asked to pay a final bill at then end. It is so unfortunate that a beautiful venue that costs so much, insisted on ruining our special day. Save your money, and go elsewhere. Miranda, you should be ashamed of yourself in your role as the event leader. Nobody should be treated this way when paying for a high end service. Shame on you!

Golf course played in pristine condition when I played it. Holes 12, 13, and 15 are well deserved in the top 100 holes in America. Bratwurst dog was fantastic too!

Let me first say the golf course is stunning and in amazing shape. My wife and I travel all over the country to play bucket list courses. The staff in the pro shop were friendly and great and the starter was gem. The range was ok, nothing spectacular.
Now for the bad…
The merchandise in the pro shop was dismal. They had about as much stuff in there as a local muni course and we couldn’t even find anything to buy despite wanting something. For a destination spot this was disappointing.
After the round I wanted a hot dog and went to the bar in the cafe and ordered one for me and a drink for my wife. Despite the whole dining area being wide open, after about five minutes of my wife being seated at a table she was told she had to go outside because the tables were only for guests ordering food from the kitchen. I guess a hot dog from the bar didn’t meet that criteria and a barren dining room is the look they were going for. I ate my hot dog outside and we left.
Overall for a destination resort golf course it was kind of disappointing due to some minor interactions. I definitely feel like people enjoy being able to have a decent selection at the pro shop and the dining experience left a bad taste in our mouth. Despite the course being beautiful, I feel there are better options in the area.

Played both the championship course and the links 9. Both courses were in fantastic shape. Greens rolled fairly quick and very true. The holes along the cliff are definitely the gems but the rest of the course was also good; high desert links feel for most holes.
Agree that the merchandise in the pro shop was a little lacking and the food/beverage prices were pretty steep but great overall experience.

April 2024. Zero hospitality or friendliness, they got even got cranky when I asked for my cart to go to the range, nobody even said hello or welcome the whole day. Beautiful course and scenery but course was not in great condition, fairways were in poor shape. Planned to eat at the clubhouse before our flight and it took a long time to get a basic lunch order, had to rush to catch our flight.

I am not sure what the other reviews are talking about. We played 27 holes today, both the championship and the links, and it was great! Everyone was friendly. New golf carts were awesome. Course was in good condition. We loved it. It sucks there is no hard liquor on the course but that’s UT’s fault not the course.

Played 9 on the links today and the course is in decent condition. As mentioned by so many others, the problem with this course is with the people. The cart king just has zero customer service skills. A friend didn't meet their dress code and he says, "can't give you a cart without a collared shirt." Guy buys a shirt from the clubhouse and at the end of the round offers them the shirt off his back to pass along to the next fool. Cart King refuses the gift and says, "The expectation is that you read the website." We've all met similar golf course egos before and Sand Hollow didn't disappoint.

Quite possibly the best golf course I have played to date. Got to play 36 holes there on a Saturday, greeted by a friendly starter, played a great morning round and then had some lunch, it was tight timing but with about 20 minutes left until our 2nd round the starter came into the restaurant and gave us a quick reminder, told us how pace of play was going and let us prepare to head back out. Very very well done by that starter. Second round was just as good as the first. Cold towels on the first tee with ice buckets ready to go was a savour in the 100 degree heat.
As a Golf Professional I was really impressed with almost every aspect, range was great, proshop staff friendly, restaurant staff friends, back shop could use some customer service training in terms of speaking to people and general golf course etiquette but that happens and didnt ruin anything for us.
Will return to play here one day. All 8 of us were blown away by the experience. You made my bachelor trip even more memorable!!
Thanks for having us!

Absolutely loved playing this course! It’s challenging but fun for those high handicappers. It’s a long course so be prepared to smash your hits and you will do fine. The first nine holes is similar to a links course and the back 9 holes starts to get tricky with elevated tee shots. Highly recommend this course to play on your golf bucket list.

They held us up spraying the greens in front of us and turning on the sprinklers on hole 12, 13, 14 and 15. Nick form the pro shop said sorry, they were not supposed to do that.... but couldn't offer any partial refund.
Made for a hot frustrating time.

Everything about our experience was great except for one rude staff member. A blonde woman stood there with a dirty look on her face while we were struggling to load our bags, offering no help whatsoever. She clearly saw us and chose to do nothing—just stood there watching like it wasn’t her job. It was frustrating and unprofessional, and it really left a bad impression. If it weren’t for her, this would’ve been a 5-star review. Management should really address this kind of attitude.

Sometimes it’s no wonder that golf is a dying sport. Every member of the staff that is older than the age of 25 is unfriendly and rude. They made our golf day quite miserable. Older front desk lady and the older gentleman that checks out clubs were some of the rudest people I have ever met. Beautiful course, but only interact with the younger staff.

Ridiculous that this is currently rated a 3.4. We visited all the way from West Michigan, where there is a ton of great golf courses, and we were not disappointed in any way. The front 9 leads you in nicely with some gettable holes and pretty wide fairways. The back 9 is full of photo opportunities and really makes you appreciate the surrounding terrain. All par 5s were under maintenance with aeration going on in the fairways. Easy fix was just moving the ball to a nice playable area. The ranger was friendly, the fairway mowers were robots (yeah they were the equivalent of golf roombas). The shop had tons of great logo'ed swag. Already planning a return visit to Southern Utah.

I’ll give this a more a 4.5. Was the course immaculate… no. Was it playable… absolutely. People will complain on the price but you’re gonna be paying the same in Vegas for conditions less than this. Greens played true and were in amazing shape. Course is under some slight maintenance but overall a course that will test you but won’t break you. If you’re looking for the “best” conditions… wait till later in the year. Signature holes were absolutely beautiful!!! Worth it in my opinion

It's Robbery to charge full price for the conditions. The repairs made for putts and chips to be altered. I don't believe it was an unidentified worm, I've heard a different story. It's a one time play for 4 scenic holes.

I’d heard the course was in rough shape, but wow was it in rough shape. I will say the greens were the exception and were very pure.
Multiple fairways were unplayable (see photo) in most spots, and tee boxes were quite rough. The range was also in rough shape that day.
The back 9 was better, especially their scenic holes.
Staff was great and very kind. Lots of drinking water on the course.
Hopefully they can get it back to their standards and being the awesome course they’re known for. As for now and the foreseeable future, I probably won’t be back due to the conditions and charging full price still, but will happily return once it’s back.

Being a local resident it would seem that SH would have some sort of local or senior benefit..none. But I bent over and paid $375 for me and my ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY son...right you guessed it.."no military discount either"...and then it got better: Driving range was closed..we arrived early to practice; tee boxes has all been aeriated and were in poor condition; putting green was was half under rebuild condition; ...and then, making the turn in 2 hours we found a new foursome of 2 asian couples in front of us..yep: they were allowed to book and only play the famous back 9..we waited on 9 tees boxes and over 2.5 hr back nine pushing into the heat..no marshal, and these folks got in their California SUV in the parking lot next to us..wow. Not to mention when I hit the 18th green in regulation I found my ball plugged in a ground under repair active sprinkler right on the green....sorry SH ..you are a legend in your 'own mind'..

What an absolute gem this place is! We played 36 holes here on a large group golf trip and they not only treated us with class but the golf course was pristine and such a blast to play. Such a cool layout with the majority of holes being fair then the flair of the holes on the back nine.
My favorite of all the courses we played on our trip to St George and one you have to have on your list when doing a golf trip to the area. Wish I could putt on these greens daily, so mint and perfect roll.
From the golf to the staff treating us like wanted and welcomed guests of theirs instead of nuisances like some other places... A 10/10 experience!

I read some of the very recent reviews and was pretty nervous going into our tee time that the course was going to be in rough shape.
That was not the case at all. The tee boxes had been punched recently but that didn’t affect anything and the course was in above average condition. I wouldn’t say it was prestine but it wasn’t worthy of a 1 star review.
I’m not in a position to opine on their interactions with the staff but ours were rather brief and positive.
Overall, it would be very hard for them to screw up a course that is located on such a beautiful piece of property. The holes and views are insanely cool and I would 100% play here again.

The customer service is just horrible here. We played Black Desert and Coral Canyon on this trip as well and both were WAY WAY nicer in terms of how they treated us.
The first greeter was okay, but he made sure to correct me that I was in Hurricane and not St George Utah in a rude and condescending way.
We had a 5th person who was just going to walk the course and they denied him saying the back 9 was "too aggressive to walk". I have to disagree since I've push carted similar hilly courses. It wasn't a breeze, but I've done it in the past. He would've had no clubs either. It's really only for holes 12-15 anyways, the rest of the course is pretty flat.
As we began our round and the starter started to explain everything she yelled at us as we were getting distance to "not hit the cart in front of us", which was about 300-350 yards away from our tee. I don't understand why she thought we were so stupid that we were going to hit someone's cart? We've golfed before.
The course conditions for the most part were like a C+/B-. Some of the teeboxes were pretty rough. They have this weird box/cross-hatch pattern that was in some of the fairways as well since the grass wasn't particularly smooth (see photo). The bunkers were for the most part fine, but several holes they were legitimately orange mud. The green on 18 was pretty horrible too, which is the cherry on top (see photo). The putting green near the clubhouse is also basically ground under repair, which is odd for what I assumed was an "elite" course.
Lastly, once we turned our carts in no one even cleaned our clubs or asked if we had a good time. I've played courses that cost $50 or less before and even they do both of those things.
I'll never ever play here again and will always recommend people to golf at other courses who ACTUALLY WANT your business.

From the first interaction, we knew it was gonna be a rough day. We brought a fifth friend as he wanted to take some photos of us playing a beautiful course, and we figured he would at least be able to pay a cart fee so he could ride with us. He asked a guy in the pro shop, and he was shot down right away because they apparently “didn’t have enough carts,” and when we finished our round, there was a 20+ carts not being used. So he had to drive back to our hotel.
When we got to the first tee, the lady giving us instruction on how the course works, and she talked down to us and treated us like children.
While the course was beautiful (well the back 9 was), the customer service in the beginning really put a downer on the day and ruined the overall experience.

We traveled from Ohio to play Sand Hollow in Utah. For the last round of our weekend, we had a 4:52 p.m. tee time, but our start was delayed by 20 minutes. Our group decided to play a scramble to ensure we could finish all 18 holes. We completed the front nine in 1 hour and 45 minutes without seeing a single backed-up hole. We didn’t stop at the turn to get food, prioritizing pace of play. However, when we arrived at hole 10, there were five groups playing or waiting. We considered playing through starting at hole 12, but three groups were already waiting there. At that point, we decided to end our round, as finishing 18 holes was impossible. As we drove through the back nine, we passed groups of five, six, and even eight golfers. This should not be allowed, as it significantly slows play. When we returned to the pro shop to discuss the issue, the staff’s lack of customer service was appalling. They checked their computer and dismissively claimed everyone was still on a 4-hour pace. This was clearly not the case. Rangers should be on the course to prevent such delays and ensure proper pace of play

Unacceptable Delays and Dismal Customer Service
Sand Hollow was a huge disappointment. Our round was delayed by 20 minutes at the start, and the back nine was a mess with multiple large groups clogging the course. Hole 10 had five groups waiting, and groups of seven and eight players were allowed, slowing everything down. No rangers were monitoring the course. Worst of all, when we addressed this at the pro shop, the staff’s lack of customer service was infuriating—they nonchalantly insisted the pace was fine, showed no concern, and provided no resolution. We couldn’t finish our round and left frustrated.
Beautiful course and scenery ruined by mismanagement of players.

Poor Course Management and Unprofessional Staff
We drove hours to play Sand Hollow, but our round was a disaster due to poor course management. Our tee time was delayed by 20 minutes, and by the back nine, we were stuck behind large groups. Hole 11 had four groups waiting, and we couldn’t play through. We gave up after 13 holes. When we spoke to the pro shop, the staff’s lack of customer service was unacceptable—they dismissed our concerns, claimed there were no pace issues, and offered no solutions or empathy. Rangers are desperately needed to keep things moving.

Gorgeous course. Poor hospitality and management. The cart attendant was extremely rude to everyone in our party of 16. The fairway sprinklers were turned on for the last 4 holes of our round. The carts were in poor condition. Our tee time was delayed almost an hour. When I emailed management with these issues, instead of just apologizing and offering to remedy the situation, they just keep asking for additional details - even after going back and forth 5 times. The other courses in the area offer similar landscapes and much better hospitality and value.

We played Sand Hollow for our 4th and final round of the weekend with a group of 24. Tee boxes need quite a bit of help, but greens recovered well from recent aeration. The staff and marshals were extremely kind. The course really has 4 cool holes (12-15) and the rest of it is a little underwhelming. They charged $56 for a 6 pack of beer. For the price of beer & golf, the Ledges is much better value. For the price point, I would probably never come back. If Wolf Creek is a 10/10, this place is a 6/10.

Friendly staff. Had to share cart. The course was in good condition. Sprinklers were off/on in-between groups. Greens were still pretty quick with recent aeration. Practice facility was nice and club house had some great views. Course did not disappoint. Was slightly challenging while still being fun.

Dont waste your money. Scenery is gorgeous but the course was in horrible condition. They advertise it as a world class golf destination and its closer to a muni. Greens were diseased, the collar of almost all the greens had rows of grass alternating with dirt similar to planting crops. Plus the red rock sand is really just compacted dirt. At almost $500 for 2 people it's so not worth it. The head pro and director of golf would not return my call which shows they aren't interested in customer satisfaction

Probably 3.5. Course is pretty. Views are uniformly great. Some on the back spectacular although you can get similar in other areas of southwest. At face value 175 was for but as some said course conditions were spotty. Back 8 better but lots of uneven lies areas around many greens were a mess making a putt turn into a hip because the grounds was uneven. Likely reasons but course should say something. Some tess were a mess. That being said we still had a good time. It’s a solid layout but needs some tlc.
Food at turn wasn’t good. Hot dog was a little scary and my chicken wrap the chicken wasn’t cooked. Staff was great super nice. If in area it’s worth a play but may not blow you away. If the course was in great shape would b a great lay out

Fantastic experience! Not sure how the overall google star reviews are so low, but don't let it scare you.
Pro shop is good, friendly staff and a decent selection of merchandise. I would say the main thing they need to improve or change is the course logo. Seems to be more of a resort logo instead of the course but that's just my personal preference on golf merch.
Practice facilities are nice, putting greens are a touch small but the chipping green is a good size.
Food at the turn was good and ready when we arrived after pre-ordering. The patio offers incredible views and a view of the 9th green. They do require ID for a drink order at the tables, only course that asked for this on our week-long trip.
Course itself is super fun...great mix of feeling isolated in the desert and obviously the signature hole stretch is pretty amazing.

First off, I have played Sand Hollow prior and really enjoyed it. We just completed a round, with visiting friends, and I can not over-emphasize how disappointed we all were with the condition of this course. It is in absolutely terrible condition and I would highly recommend you not play here until it is rectified- and that will be no time soon, fyi. We inquired and were told about some fungus in the turf, then it was worms/grubs, then it is winter. However, we played a course about 3 miles away, as the crow flies, and no similar issues? Some of those issues may true but then it would be a common courtesy to inform golfers, BEFORE they book a tee time, about how bad of condition the course is and also make an appropriate discount in the fees. The fairways are horrid, temporary tee boxes on many holes, patches all over, reseeded fairways, lies in fairways that were worse than in the desert, bunkers had no sand with chunky clay like material and lots of rocks, just really bad. I normally do not write reviews, but I am doing this as a courtesy to all potential players thinking of coming here, to not do it. I wish I had been aware and we would have saved our approximate $875 in greens fees. Our foursome consisted of myself, a 3, and a plus 2 handicap, and we, along with our wives, almost walked off the course mid round. While the scenery is still awesome, the golf is a far cry from it. If you only want views, pay the fees, if golf matters, run away, fast.

Seems irrelevant but we booked a tee time at 4pm for 18 holes and were kicked off the 11th tee due to the course closing at 6:30, which wasn’t clearly stated on the website. Paid full price for 18 holes and were basically able to only play 9. Their website should allow people to book tee times that will only be able to happen indefinitely. The website was even allowing people to book times through 10pm which clearly shouldn’t get booked.

Been playing here for 15 years but the conditions are now absolutely horrific after a nematode infestation. From near top tier conditions when we played last year on March 10th to almost unplayable 1 year later. Things happen but the reason for the 2 star review is that they didn’t disclose the infestation and the green fees were higher this year than last. Hope Sand Hollow can recover but it is unlikely we’ll ever risk it again due to the lack of disclosure or any kind of change in rates given the situation.

This is a first rate golf experience! The outside service staff were friendly and welcoming. Zach, in the pro shop was very helpful, friendly and professional. The starter was funny and informative. The front 9 boasts challenging, yet playable holes allowing for great scoring opportunities depending on pin placement. The back 9 has one of the most stunningly beautiful stretch of golf holes I've played all over the world. I highly recommend this golf experience to anyone visiting Southern Utah!

First off Dennis needs to be fired. He knows nothing about customer service nor how to treat loyal customers. If Roche Enterprises LTD is reading this I’d fire him so quickly! We asked 3-4 of his co workers if they like him and they said that’s the worst part about working there. Dennis made our whole experience terrible and doesn’t know anything about how to manage a pro shop. They also booked an 8some in front of us and they made our round 5plus hours. Attached is a photo. The course is THE WORST CONDITION I have ever seen and after today I’ll never play here again. Robert Roche has let this course go and it should be an embarrassment to their organization. Sky Mountain is in better shape and its half the course quality. I’ll never step foot here again and don’t recommend it to anyone thinking of going. Head over to the ledges & or cooper rock! Sad.

Terrible golf course and staff. Long review worth read. Do yourself a favor and play somewhere else for half the price. Played the links 9 hole. Made t time via phone. Went in to pay and said no cash unless exact change, never mentioned when made t time. No credit card so i had to pay extra money to play. I ate 15 feet away at the Cafe and paid cash and made change. Im a little Confused. Went to get cart name wasn't on roster and starter was very rude about it, said I was probably at wrong course. Then he mumbled something about the golf carts. I said excuse me I couldn't hear you. he just pointed over towards the carts. Went to play early,40 minutes, to hit balls on the range. Was on range about 3 minutes when starter came over and started pressuring us to go out early because he had a 2some going out. I declined only to be bothered about it 3 more times. The course. They should be ashamed to charge this kind of money for dirt fairways and greens. The greens had some fungus or something that looked like a waste land with cracked earth. Someone them it was almost half the green. They were kind enough to put a bottle of water in the cart, although it had been opened and drank out of. This is truly the worst golf course in southern utah. Including the rude staff. I can see why they have t times when the other courses are booked solid. Save your money and avoid this golf course at all costs.

I come to Saint George a few times a year to play golf and love this course. The people are very friendly and the championship course is incredible, so pretty and fun to play. I even really enjoy their links course, sometimes a tee box or two are a bit worn out but for the price it’s a beautiful and fun links course.

The older gentleman at the first tee box should NOT talk down to people who are:
1. Dressed according to standards
2. On-time
The simple fact that it was our first time at this course should not be the reason for being disrespected right off the rip.
Incredible views on the back 9. Greens were in 2 out of 5 shape, but the undulation made it challenging and fun. Not a good first impression golfing in this state for the first time while I visit my twin brother. Hopefully the Ledges offers a more welcoming atmosphere today.

We traveled from Ogden to play Sand Hollow and a few other courses this week. Knowing it was a busy weekend we called ahead a couple hours before our tee-times to see if our 70 yr old mom and our teen could get a cart and ride along with us instead of just driving around St George while we played. The person who answered the phone told us riders were welcomed! I asked how much it was for the extra cart and they put me on hold for a minute and then told me $25. I asked if I needed to pay now or at check-in. They said check-in.
We arrived 40 minutes early for our tee-time and were greeting by friendly gentlemen at the bag drop. They told us they didn’t have carts for us yet, but they would have them before we started. We went into the pro-shop to check-in and we were met by Dennis. We told him we needed to pay for an extra cart. He told us that was not an option. They didn’t have extra carts. I told him that was disappointing since I called ahead and was told we could and we now had two extra people here with us. He told me I couldn’t have called ahead since there were only three people in the pro-shop all day and he would never had said that. He couldn’t produce the third pro shop staff member. When I showed him my cell phone with the pro-shop number and the time I called, he still insisted I couldn’t have spoken with the pro-shop and there was nothing he could do. I asked who else I could have talked to who misinformed us and he said it didn’t matter. There was no way anyone would have told me that and he wouldn’t accommodate us. Worst customer service ever! If the situation had changed and they were indeed out of carts, he could have admitted that and apologized for the misinformation, but instead, basically accused me of lying to him.
We made arrangements to send them off into town. Then, when we went to pick up our carts for the round, the gentleman at the cart stand ask if we wanted to ride together or separate or ride in the extra covered carts they had. Interesting, since Dennis was rudely admitted that there were no options for our extra riders.
Overall, we were excited to play Sand Hollow again, but there are too many equally as good (or better) courses in St George to deal with pro-shop staff like Dennis. We’ll go elsewhere next time we come down for a golf week. I’m sure they won’t miss us. But if Dennis is in their pro-shop, we won’t be the last golfers they lose.

Sand Hollow Resort is a must-stay if you’re in St. George! I decided to stay here after a business trip and it was a fantastic decision. There are so many options for rooms and the one we have is big and spacious. The beds are some of the comfiest I’ve ever experienced in a hotel! There are three pools and two hot tubs here and you have access to all of them with your room card. The views are absolutely insane from the room! We got a beautiful view of sunrise! It’s close to Sand Hollow State Park and close enough to St. George if you want to go into town for food or events. The nice thing about it is it’s secluded, so there wasn’t any noise for us! We also went in November and the resort was practically empty - see all of the empty parking spaces! I imagine in spring, summer and early fall, this place is far more rocking, due to the OHV trails. Absolutely exceptional stay!

The resort is huge, with three swimming pools and spacious rooms. We had a Queen Suite with cosy beds and a very nice view over the golf court and some red rocks. The hotel is very clean, except of the pools that weren‘t cleaned up. A diaper was swimming in one of the pools today which was really ugly.
We missed some room service, no beds are made up nor the coffee cups filled up again.
Besides, this is a beautiful hotel for a stay and we will love to come back once again. I can recommend this hotel.

Don't waste your time and money.
Beaches dirty, major swimmers itch, NO SHADE TREES or CABINAS. Utah DNR is only interested in fees. Control freaks, and very RUDE.

Booked at the resort for my boyfriend's birthday & it came heavily recommended by friends
Cassie was very knowledgeable, professional & personable. She did a remarkable job at noting all my needs & concerns to make this a special stay. Upon arrival, all staff were especially hospitable & managed to get us checked in a couple hours before check-in time.
Our room was beautiful with an incredible view and located closest to the park.
In summary, it was a wonderful stay & we will be back; they have set such a high standard!

Resort, grounds and golf course are very nice. The Grille has good food and amazing views. Our disappointment was with our room - no phone, no coffee, no hangers, short shower curtain, tiny TV, thermostat a pain. Fitness center is small with old machines and no water. Pools are nice but had no clean towels. We were planning to return for a family vacation, not sure now.

I had a wonderful time at this resort. I am not a golfer. I spent a night here on a family vacation. Everyone at the front desk was really nice. The room I had was great. The pools were fantastic. The property was well maintained and very nice. I have friends who have golfed here and they love courses. Hopefully someday I can visit again.
