Update as of 11/05: my membership was cancelled by Cathy for leaving the fair, constructive review below with three stars (a satisfied rating).

I'll start with the pros:
- The facility is never busy and the front staff are kind and make an effort to remember your name, which is much appreciated.
- The equipment is overall nice and well-maintained.
- Ample stretching room and cardio equipment.

The cons and suggested improvements:
- The towels are cheap and falling apart. This is frustrating when people are paying a higher monthly fee for a self-promoted premium gym. The towels should be soft, big enough to cover my waist, and not look like they have been washed 10,000 times already.
- There is still no real pull-up bar, and the ones they have are insufficient, especially for tall people (which I am not). One of them has had its soft-grip ripping off almost as long as they have had it - this should be an easy fix that is prioritized quickly.
- I never see staff walking around cleaning the equipment like they did at the old location.
- Kettlebells are often scattered and not re-racked.
- The locker rooms and accompanying bathroom often appear dirty.
- There used to be an essential oil fragrance supplied in the sauna, it lasted like a week and is now just the idea of one. I liked this addition and was sad to see it disappear so quickly. These small amenities help 'premium' gyms to stand out.
- The other amenities in the men's locker room, like razors and ear swabs seem unnecessary; I rarely see them being used. A better investment would be nicer towels.
- The soap dispenser in the men's locker room is often coated in soap and/or out of soap.

Overall, some small but meaningful improvements can be made that will go a long way to helping the patrons feel like their membership to SLC's premier 'Executive Gym' is worth the higher price tag.

What a great workout spot! The equipment is vast and well maintained, the space is welcoming and the staff was very helpful. I received a tour by a super informative young man named Julius. Just the type of spot I’ve been looking for! You’ve got to check it out.

The gym was very clean! Management and customer service was amazing!! Maya especially! The equipment is up to date and in great condition! Everyone makes you feel very welcomed! and the location is perfect being in the middle of downtown for close and easy access. I would say this gym is definitely worth checking out and signing up!!!!

I haven’t personally trained at this gym, but I feel it’s important to share what happened to my partner. After they left a fair, constructive review noting that some equipment needed maintenance and a few amenities could be improved, the gym cancelled their membership instead of addressing the feedback.
That kind of response says a lot about how management handles criticism. For the prices they charge, I’d expect professionalism, transparency, and a willingness to listen to members—not retaliation for honest feedback. Potential members should be aware of how the gym treats people who speak up respectfully.

This is a place with 5 star potential but 1 star execution. Management is horrible and the worst I've seen at any "premium" gym. It's honestly abhorrent. When you're almost paying $100 a month for a gym membership, you expect everything to be at a much, much higher standard than what is found here. Also, they are rated F by the Better Business Bureau, so take that for what you will. There's definitely better options in the area.

Solid gym — clean, decent equipment, and usually not too crowded. Staff is friendly, especially the front desk, always welcoming and easy to talk to.

I was in SLC for a soccer tournament and this was the only gym close by to our hotel. The gym is very nice and has a great assortment of equipment. If you go off peak hours you pretty much have the entire gym to yourself. The staff are friendly and the locker rooms are great!

Got a day pass while on travel, and it was excellent overall. Well equipped, clean, not crowded, very good towel service, spacious day use lockers and clean showers.

I had a membership at the old gym at City Creek. When they moved I cancelled. MONTHS later my card suddenly started being charged again without me noticing for two years. I read reviews and found that there are multiple cases like me. What a dishonest business!

I joined The GYM this week to get away from the insane crowds at EoS. This is a great gym! It’s clean and spacious and never crowded. It has all the equipment you’d ever need and free fresh towels offered at the front desk. I’m super happy I signed up.

But, there are two reasons I can’t give it 5 stars.

First is the parking. There’s plenty of parking, but you’re limited to 1.5 hours for free (w/ validation). That’s usually sufficient, but I have had to rush a few times. Signs in the parking garage say there’s a maximum 2 hour parking limit, so it seems weird that we can’t just get 2 hours for free.

Second is the organization. I can’t figure out how it was decided to place machines in certain locations or directions. It makes no sense and my OCD desperately wants to rearrange the place.

Overall a great gym and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller crowd in a fresh, new space.

I love this gym, it’s peaceful and not at all crowded. The only problem I find is 1.5 Hr Parking time is not enough.

Too expensive. I liked it but vasa or eos are $50 cheaper, and this gym doesn't distance itself from it with better equipment well enough to make up for the price difference.

Best gym in SLC: never crowded, clean, towel service. HOWEVER, you need to live close by, as they only validate parking for 90 minutes, which is not enough time for a warmup, workout and a shower. I have a dozen or so friends that said they would join if they extended validation for 2 hours. 90 minutes is a deal breaker for everyone I’ve talked to that’s not within walking/biking/public transportation distance (however, I suppose it keeps the gym empty, but a really weird business practice from a cost-benefit analysis standpoint).

The other negative is that people leave weights on the machines far too often. The gym should put up signs to re-rack weights and some employees should walk around and look for weights to re-rack like every other gym I’ve been to throughout my life. For the price I’m paying, it would be nice if I didn’t have to take weights off a machine every time before I used it.

Negatives aside, and ONLY if you live walking / biking distance, it’s a no brainer if you’re a dedicated gym goer in SLC.

Clean, never busy, always has available machines for a good price. Highly recommend The GYM over EOS, or other commercial gyms.

Probably the best private non-commercial gym you'll find near downtown SLC.

I regret joining this gym. I left Utah and have been attempting to contact them both via email and phone for a long time to cancel my membership but they do not respond to my emails nor answer their phone. Their phone mailbox is full. Their billing company refuses to terminate billing unless The Gym tells them to. I enjoyed their equipment and the staff was friendly but unfortunately, in my opinion, this scenario is a sign of a serious issue with their company.

So the place is absolutely empty ! I worked out yesterday paid 20 dollars . Today the price changed and they can’t proceed with the payment . They don’t even have the decency to find a way of how to help ! The machines are extremely old , the locker I was given according to the gentleman yesterday had no key. Locker 29.
Very unorganized and unpleasant for a Friday morning.

2023 I signed up and the gym closed down 1 month after I had paid all the fees, etc.. without notice.
2024 Cathy contacted me to come sign up for a new membership. I didn’t ever go in. They started charging my card for 2 months this year and I never re-signed up…. This is very dishonest. I had to go dispute the charges with my credit card.
