Joe is such an awesome teacher, I love coming to his class! He makes class more fun than other yoga classes I’ve been to. I love that he gives examples of how to modify the poses for different skill levels and even if you have an injury.

Best yoga I've been to hands down. Jai is my favorite instructor. Great yoga mixed in with just enough dad jokes.

Nice yoga studio. The price is right, I love the little sound bath they do at the end, nice community members, good instructors, not crowded at all (although I’m not sure why this is, it should be way busier!), love the candle light yoga vibes @ the 9:15 pm classes!

This studios is great. Jai is an amazing yoga teacher. I have been practicing yoga for over 14 years and consider Jai my most influential yoga teacher. He makes yoga practice fun. His jokes lighten up the mood, and even though he makes similar jokes every time, we are always chuckling. His yoga practices are more on a spiritual side. You don't even notice how u learn Sanskrit names of the poses and simple chants at the beginning and the end start to make sense. I aways look forward to savasana. He makes time for it (I am glad it's never too short), guides you into the state of relaxation, slowing down your mind. The cherry on top is a sound bath at the end and pranayama exercises after savasana. He gives to the community so much. In the summer he offers free Sunday dharma yoga practice on Sundays up the Provo canyon at Timpanogos park which is usually attended by close to a hundred people coming from as far as Salt Lake, and Park City. Dogs, kids, significant others are a usual sight at the park yoga. I recommend Jai to anyone of any level. He always gives options for each pose and encourages you to go at your own pace and level. Thank you, Jai and Yoga Shala! 😊

I’ve been practicing yoga for about 20 years, exploring countless instructors and styles, and I can confidently say that Yoga Shala is my favorite place to bend. I first came here about 10 years ago for their free community class, and ever since, this studio has felt like home.

They specialize in Dharma Yoga, and whether it’s the style itself or just the way they teach it here, I’ve never experienced yoga in a place that felt so personalized and adaptable. Every class is truly what you make of it. If I want gentle, restorative movement, that’s exactly what I get. If I’m feeling strong and playful, I can follow progressions all the way into contortionist circus tricks (or at least try!). They always start with the most basic version of a pose, then let you choose how far to take it.

More than any other studio I’ve practiced at, Yoga Shala embodies a true “come as you are” philosophy. Many people worry about starting yoga because they think they’ll feel watched or judged. I’ve definitely been to studios where that was the case. But here, the vibe is incredibly welcoming and chill. You can try, fail, watch, modify, and truly make the practice your own. It’s a perfect blend of tradition (Sanskrit, chanting, breathwork) and playfulness, with plenty of humor thrown in.

I’ve never felt stagnant in my practice here. Other studios have started to feel repetitive over time, but at Yoga Shala, there’s always room to explore, progress, and have fun. If I try a modification at another studio, I sometimes get tsk’d for it - but here, it’s encouraged!

Their free Sunday class is an incredibly generous offering for the community, but it fills up fast especially in colder months. In the summer, they take it outdoors to Timpanogos Park, which is absolutely magical. You can also enjoy smaller classes all week with a punch card or pass, and I was blown away by their pricing. I even got HALF off for signing my kid up for karate!

This isn’t just my favorite yoga studio, it’s the best-value studio I’ve found anywhere. Yoga Shala is truly something special, and I can’t recommend it enough!

I’ve been to a lot of yoga studios and will always come back to The Yoga Shala because of Jai and Kim. They are both very compassionate and skilled instructors and yogis. They offer modifications and variations for all levels, and are some of the most genuine and kind people you’ll meet. They also have a deep knowledge of yoga philosophy which they live by.

This studio has a very calm and welcoming atmosphere and a beautiful community which I’m grateful to have found and be a part of. I have brought beginners here and they have commented on how approachable and fun Jai has made yoga.

My own yoga practice has evolved and developed so much in the years I’ve been coming here, and my understanding of yoga in a broader sense has deepened in that time as well.

I love this yoga studio! ♥️

Jai is the best yoga teacher. He takes a more spiritual than exercise approach while at the same time not taking it to serious. I love that he incorporates breathing into his practice and mindfulness as well. He does a great job at teaching everyone at all levels and brings several different options to each movement. Highly recommend.

The Yoga shala is a wonderful yoga / martial arts studio.

Jai is a care free teacher who makes you laugh one second then give you a challenging new pose to try.
He loves telling an interesting story and really cares about community.

Jai has a masterful way of teaching hard poses. I feel like I've accomplished more and progressed more in his classes than any other studio.

They offer free yoga every Sunday. Sign up for a spot or it will be full.

In the summer they do free yoga outside in a park.

I have attended the Yoga Shala a few times a week since April. Joe is a great teacher and makes every class fun. His classes are safe and welcoming places. Whether you are just starting yoga or have been practicing for years, he will show you how to adapt your practice so that you get the most out of it. Joe can also answer questions about the philosophy of yoga, including how to open yourself to good things in the universe and gratitude.

Shala means compassion and the yoga Shala offers that exact feeling. Joe and Kim have created a beautifully safe space at this studio. It’s a place where you feel warm and welcomed and EVERYONE is welcome there. They make yoga fun and light but also create space for the energy and emotions you may be releasing. Candlelight yoga is my absolute favorite! Such a cool concept doing yoga but candlelight. It creates a beautiful ambiance. They also host fee community yoga on Sundays - that’s how I first heard about the yoga Shala. I love that they create a community space for all that want and need to experience that. Thank you for your hearts and your time and for your yoga space 🙏🏽❤️

Although I'm young, I've frequently experienced lower back pain that spasms when trying to sleep/lie flat, etc. I've been attending a Dharma yoga class at the Yoga Shala once a week for three months now. My back has felt amazing and I almost never have issues with it anymore (no more nightly back-popping routine). I know it's from all the backbend and spinal twisting exercises that loosen and strengthen my entire back. The owners (also instructors) are so friendly (and goofy and awesome) and you can feel their love for yoga and for helping others while they teach. Definitely my favorite studio!

I was new to yoga and was worried how much I’d stick out because I don’t look like your typical yoga student as a former college offensive lineman. But Joe and Kim embraced me and made me feel welcome and part of the group since the first day I joined. They don’t single out their new students like I’ve had before in other classes and got embarrassed with all the attention now on me.
Their respectful yet constant support helps push you at the pace you feel is best and still invite you to feel uncomfortable without pushing you too much.

The culture they have established and the feel of the ambient they’ve created there does make you feel at home with their windows facing the great wasatch mountains. You look forward to coming back every week after a long day of work. We love the types of music they play, and when you’re lucky enough Joe will play an instrument and sing! He is incredible. Or Kim will lead you in some guided breathing meditations that are serene. Especially during candlelight yoga at night time. X

Besides building confidence and health through the flexibility aspect of the class
The meditation and relaxation at the end is always my favorite. You feel like a burden has been lifted off your shoulders and you can be completely vulnerable and relax and focus on your breath which has done wonders for my anxiety and clearing out my mind making everything more simple.

Try it out, it will change your life if you let it.

I have been doing yoga here for years. The teachers are top notch and I absolutely love this yoga gem. I feel blessed to have stumbled upon the Sunday Funday class (9am, free community class). I was biking and stopped by when I saw them practicing. The main teacher Jai greeted me by saying, "Welcome! Do you need a mat?" I said, "Yeah!" and the rest is history. Jai incorporates stories from his travels to India, yogic singing and breathing, and meditation; which are all important parts of my yoga practice.
tl;dr - this place is a treasure and has blessed me with outstanding instruction in yoga.

For years I kept hearing about the benefits of yoga, but I was a little apprehensive to start. I heard really good things about The Yoga Shala so I decided to take a free class. I was totally blown away by how good I felt after my very first class. My only regret is not starting sooner. Jai, the main instructor, is an amazing teacher. He made me feel comfortable from day one. He is so positive and his enthusiasm is contagious. Classes are welcoming to all levels from totally new to very advanced. Jai always knows how to help you get from the point you are at to the next level in a gentle and kind way. There is a great positive vibe at the studio. I have not felt any judgement or competitiveness. Everyone is so kind and helpful. I especially love the evening candlelight classes. For a while I have struggled with anxiety and stress, which is a big part if why I decided to take up yoga. I'm happy to say that yoga has dramatically lowered my stress and has helped me to be a calmer, kinder, happier person. My wife has noticed a huge difference. In fact, she now insists that I go as often as I can because she can see first hand the effect it has on my life. Go in for a free class. You won't regret it.
