Studio Red at South Jordan VASA is the best because of Adam! He does an amazing job building community and making every class fun, challenging, and welcoming. There’s a reason his classes are always full! He helps people get to know each other, cheer each other on, and look forward to coming back again and again. He creates a safe, inclusive space where everyone feels supported, no matter their fitness level. If you’re thinking about trying a Studio Red class, this is the one to join!

Much improved vibe. Always open on time. The kids at the front desk are always friendly and helpful. The weights in the free weight section are pretty beat up and could use some love. Otherwise, I haven’t seen a lot of downtime on equipment. Overall it’s be a good experience✨

Going to the gym has been incredibly challenging as of late, but the only time I will go is if Adam Dastrup is the coach for Studio Red. From moment one, Adam makes everyone feel comfortable, included, and seen-regardless of their fitness level. Adam brings a positive attitude and energy that is unmatched by any other coach that I have come across. Adam genuinely cares about everyone that walks through that door while providing a safe space to escape the realities of life, even if it's just for an hour.

I cannot express how much his guidance and friendship has changed my life for the better. While some only care about metrics, Adam cares about what is best for the individual and realizes that everyone is on a different journey and that fitness is not one-size-fits-all. Adams music choices are top tier and I appreciate that I can block out the sounds and focus on my goals for the class. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, I cannot recommend Adam enough. If you are looking for someone to push you, he will celebrate you along the way. If you are looking to focus on your workout, he can recognize those nonverbal cues and celebrate you in a way that's appropriate.

A big thank you to Adam and the genuine soul that he is.

Love the gym and the amenities, but the real reason to go is for the classes, specifically for any that Adam teaches. He pumps you up and makes working out fun. Give the guy a raise already! 😁

Adam Dastrup is hands down one of the best coaches I’ve ever trained with. His energy is next level and makes every class fun, challenging, and empowering. What sets him apart is how he checks in with each person individually and makes sure everyone feels safe, supported, and seen, no matter their level.

I originally started with Adam as my Studio Red coach, but now I train with him one-on-one and even started coming to South Jordan VASA just because of the impact he’s had on me. He’s created such a strong community vibe in class that makes people want to keep showing up. You can tell he truly cares about every member and puts in the effort to help us grow. VASA is lucky to have him.

Go check out his classes.

Adam is seriously the heart of this gym! He has such an uplifting energy and makes everyone feel welcome, seen, and heard. You can tell he genuinely cares about people and has built a community that would (and do!) follow him anywhere. His positivity is contagious, and he makes working out so much fun! VASA is lucky to have him.

Dear VASA South Jordan Management,

I would like to propose the addition of a Step Class to the morning schedule at VASA Fitness South Jordan. As a dedicated member, I believe this class would diversify your offerings, appeal to a broader range of members, and help address gaps in the current group fitness schedule.

1. Meeting Member Needs Amid Changing Class Formats

With VASA’s recent shift toward paid boutique-style HIIT and yoga classes, many members may feel underserved in traditional cardio group fitness options that were once included in a standard membership. Step Classes offer an accessible, rhythm-based, low-impact cardio workout that appeals to members who may not enjoy HIIT or yoga but still value instructor-led group exercise. Adding this option can help retain members who might otherwise feel left out of the new class formats.

2. Enhancing Member Engagement and Retention

Group fitness classes remain a key driver of member satisfaction and retention. By offering a Step Class, VASA can attract members seeking a familiar, engaging cardio experience, encouraging attendance and long-term loyalty. This addition would complement the existing boutique offerings rather than compete with them, providing a balanced mix of options for all members.

3. Competitive Advantage

Local competitors, such as EōS Fitness, provide a mix of traditional group fitness classes, including Step, Zumba, and Boot Camp, alongside newer boutique-style formats. Introducing a Step Class positions VASA South Jordan as a club that balances innovation with classic fitness programs, attracting both new and existing members who value variety and inclusivity.

4. Positive Impact on Membership and ROI

Expanding group fitness options to include a Step Class can enhance attendance, increase member satisfaction, and ultimately contribute to higher retention and a positive return on investment. By diversifying the schedule without requiring additional boutique fees, VASA can strengthen the perceived value of a standard membership while maintaining its competitive edge.

5. Resurgence of Step Aerobics

Recent trends indicate a resurgence in the popularity of step aerobics. According to Athletech News, step aerobics saw a 124% increase in interest in 2024, signaling a renewed interest in this classic workout format. Additionally, Self.com highlights the benefits of step workouts, including improved cardiovascular health, joint-friendly exercise, lower body and core strengthening, enhanced balance and agility, and mental concentration akin to a brain workout.

6. Offerings at Nearby VASA Locations

It is noteworthy that several nearby VASA locations, including Sandy, Herriman, and Van Winkle, offer Step Classes. This consistency across locations suggests a demand for such classes and an opportunity to standardize offerings across all VASA locations, ensuring all members have access to the same variety of fitness options.

7. Optimal Class Timing

To maximize participation, I recommend scheduling the Step Class in the early morning before 9 a.m. or in the early evening. These time slots are convenient for members with varying schedules and can accommodate those who prefer to exercise before or after work. Offering a class during these times can increase accessibility and attendance.

Conclusion

Adding a Step Class to the morning schedule would address a gap in the current offerings, appeal to members who prefer traditional group fitness, and enhance overall engagement and retention. I am confident that this addition will be well-received and further support VASA South Jordan’s mission to serve the diverse fitness needs of its members.

Thank you for considering this proposal. I look forward to seeing how VASA continues to evolve and meet the needs of all its members.

The amount of fees you have to pay is absurd. You have to pay to cancel your membership even if you’re past the 6 months mark. $16 just to cancel. They’ll snatch your money in any dishonest way they can. Never coming back to a company like this.

I don’t care what your policy is or how poorly you communicated it. It is a major money grab the way you have it set up.

I’ve been coming to this Vasa location for nearly 2 years now, even through an inconvenient remodel and the opening of a new EOS just down the street. The only reason I’ve stuck with Vasa despite the newer equipment at EOS is the basketball court. But what good is a basketball court with no basketball? The only basketballs Vasa has to offer are completely flat, bulging, or skinned. This has been the case for months, and it is making me consider EOS much more seriously. Please get new basketballs.
Edit: Vasa has since got more basketballs. Thank you for paying attention to feedback.

This is for the employee at the front desk named Jayden (or Jaden if that's how it's spelled). This guy greets me every morning at 6am in the most welcoming/genuine manner, and it's not just me, he greets everyone that way. He is the perfect example of how having someone that cares and goes the extra mile in their job can make a huge difference in the patron's experience. I hope management recognizes this and compensates him accordingly. See you in the morning brother! 💪

It’s okay, I come to this one because it has the cardio cinema but they can’t get the volume right, either too loud or too quiet. The picture quality is terrible, so dim it’s hard to see on most movies. The cinema in Ogden is much better. On a brighter note they had someone from the Kidcare come design the sauna floor.

I love the studio classes, especially Studio Red. However, they keep increasing the prices, and eventually members are going to stop going to this gym because of it. It used to be 8 hours or more you could cancel a class, and it was $3 if you cancelled in less time than that or if you’re more than 5 minutes late or miss the class. But now, they’ve increased the cost to $10 per late/missed class, and you have to cancel more than 12 hours in advance. And it would be one thing if this was just for full classes, but all the classes I miss or am late to are never full. Then at the end of every single studio class they try to sell you more things. It would be nice to be able to relax at the gym, and at the studio classes which cost more every month, without constantly having to be upcharged or sold things. They should focus on fixing their machines and training their coaches better instead of trying to upcharge the people who are already paying to be there.

I joined this gym because it is a very short commute. I am looking for a different gym because they take months to fix broken equipment The adductor machine is broken more than not. I call about every other day to see if it is fixed. The answer is no. We have had a membership here for a few years. I do not think an unreasonable expectation is to have working equipment. I get that equipment breaks- but taking months to get it repaired is unacceptable. I am tired of having to drive to riverton- which seems to be a much better run facility.

I’ve been going to this location for a long time. They have some of the best teachers and classes so they’re always full but there’s never enough weights for everyone. I’ve started bringing my own mat because they just don’t have enough stuff for everyone who comes.

I love the classes at this location because the instructors are so good but obviously so does everyone else because the classes are packed. Sadly with all the supposed upgrades that vasa did to compete with eos they didn’t bother to improve ANYTHING in the class department. They never have enough weights, mats, or equipment for the classes. We show up a half hour early just to make sure they aren’t out. The ellipticals here ALWAYS have issues. Whether they squeak or feel like one side is going to fall off or uneven and clunky. A quarter of the treadmills always have a sign saying they are trying to fix the problem. I just wish they would have spent some of their money on the aerobic machines to upgrade those. Or at minimum at least fix the old ones and purchased more equipment for the classes. This has been a problem for years of us coming to this location and I know there have been complaints and so far NOTHINGS been done. I am hoping by finally leaving a google review corporate will see the need for other improvements at this location. 🤞

Never join VASA! I completed my two year agreement and they still charged me an exit fee. There staff is always rude young males that care more about flirting with members than helping. Last time I was there one staff member kept throwing mini paper airplanes at me. The personal trainers try to employ bully methods for motivation. I had to pay too much to get away from them, which is sad but in the end worth it.

Absolute garbage gym. I’d give it a 0. Switching to eos. I went to cancel the stupid membership and only had it for a “free” month like the deal said in October. UPDATE: I was contacted by a corporate representative who assured me that the machines that were broken would be fixed. I was also told that the issues i needed fixed with my account would be addressed and i was told i would be compensated for the inconvenience. It seems they wanted to make things right, which i appreciated. Many treadmills continue to be non functional but i feel they are attempting to be better.

I would recommend this gym if you enjoy treadmills that are constantly broken or off balance, also if you love that it is impossible to downgrade or cancel your membership. Trying to contact corporate to down grade your plan? You will enjoy being on hold for an hour. We have been coming to this gym since it was Golds gym and it just keeps getting worse. I would switch to a different gym but the instructors for the classes are amazing and the only thing that keeps me coming.

Three adjustable benches? Seriously?
For a gym this size, three adjustable benches is ridiculous. My $60 annual fee could surely help fund a few more! Every time I need one, I end up waiting 10-20 minutes, only to give up and move on. Meanwhile, the flat benches sit empty, barely getting any use. A simple solution, replace some of those flat benches with adjustable ones. It’s a small change that would make a huge difference for members like me.

$300 per month is not worth it. I get gyms are notorious for making it impossible to cancel but this one takes the prize. My wife signed up with our son and got a personal trainer package. They went with the personal trainer twice but then he couldn't accommodate their schedule and no one else could so it was a waste and they decided to cancel. She had to call over 6 times to cancel and then they charged us an additional $500 that we were not aware of. Just make sure you really want to commit to this long term if you sign up with them, otherwise it will end up being more than $300/month. That's how much we ended up having to pay for 3 months if you add up all their little fees, etc.

Updating review from 7 months ago.

- The gym underwent some fairly extensive renovation. New flooring, a few more machines. Bathroom floor and new stalls
- The entrance is cleaner and more spacious
- They got rid of pickle ball courts and out more studio classes there. I don't do classes but they made them look nice

Now that I gave you your flowers here's the some feedback.

- Why the hell can't they clean the restrooms? Why do they always have to be so disgusting? I don't get it. The only thing I see cleaned up is when some toilet overflows and they clear it. But dammit, the floors, walls, sinks, surfaces, urinals... Most gas stations restrooms are cleaner than this. Is it really gonna eat so much into the owners profits to clean the restrooms once a month?

- Broken machines: I get they break. That's normal. Cables snap and stuff. But why does it take months to fix them? It looks like the sort of thing you could literally order off Amazon and fix it yourselves. It ain't that hard.

But seriously my only real gripe is those shitty bathrooms. There is no excuse for that. You must have spent at least a couple hundreds G's renovating the gym to make it look nice. Drop $500 a month and get someone off Angi or Thumbtack to do it to clean the damn restrooms.

*Original review*
This gym used to be a flagship location for Vasa. I have been coming here since it opened. It used to be very clean and well managed.

I don't know what happened a few year ago but it has gone downhill.

- Bathrooms are never truly cleanedl. I've been looking at the same blood stains in one of the shower walls for at least a year

- Urine soaked bathroom stalls to the point some of the metal baseboards are rusting

- A perpetual stench of dried urine

- shower curtains hanging by a few loops and totally brown (they used to be white)

- Machines that remain unusable for months at a time. Like a leg extension machine that hasn't worked for a month now. It needs a very simple repair

It's a great location, but I genuinely think whoever manages the South Jordan location doesn't give a damn. Because people go there anyway. You can go in at 6am and you can't find a parking spot. I can't wait for EOS to open so at least there is some competition. I am definitely switching if they don't even show signs of trying at Vasa.

Vasa has everything you need and want in a gym.

**However, their new system isn’t user friendly for long time members with disabilities. My brother been a member for 30+ years from when they took over Golds Gym. His eye sight is close to blind, doesn’t use computers, uses his phone strictly to call only….the gym staff expected him to upload the app, use the app so he can utilise his companionship pass that he’s been paying for since Gold Gym merged over. It was sad for me to watch him fumble around with his phone so I had to navigate everything for him just so (I) his sister from Australia can get in one workout while visiting.

My brother paid in about 2,400.00 for this buddy pass to get me in when I come from out of town. The total use of this pass probably maybe at most 6months worth over span of 25years worth of buddy pass payment he never complains.

So I’m complaining for him. He loves vasa, but it was humiliating standing infront for 30 minutes trying to figure it out. My brother had to sit down. I had to re open, upload, down load, erase some apps to make room for the vasa app just to see that his phone was out dated that can’t upload the app. And now, vasa suggested for him to buy a new updated phone.

For weeks I’ve asked that they change the TV channels. The Olympics have been going on, but when asked to change the channels, staff only give excuses and say they need manager level help or even corporate approval.

Vasa is going downhill and getting rid of amenities. The South Jordan GM also has bad customer service or anger issues. I called today to make sure my membership was cancelled and request an annual fee to get reversed since they just charged it and I don’t use the membership and I canceled it. She said since I won’t let her talk (as she cut me off several times when I was talking) she just put me on hold and gave me the support phone number to call which didn’t do anything because they can’t refund fees either after I called them to. They don’t help with anything and practically tell you you’re sol. I’m so happy I canceled and will be going somewhere else, plus it’s not the cleanest gym or pool area.

Can’t be trusted!! I froze my membership because the gym is an absolute disaster and cluster with no cycle classes access to bathrooms drinking fountains equipment you name it. I froze it on June 6, but on June 7 the credit card payment came out. I’m attaching the photos of the Email and charges, I’ve seen a lot on reviews and they are scam artists. Now I am canceling it. Disputed the charges too-Losers!!

Recently they've been doing construction and remodeling at this location. It's been unmaintained and very loud to work out in. It's not a great experience and I've had to swap over to a different Vasa location farther away to do my workouts.

I went to Vasa Fitness South Jordan today. It was recently remodeled and expanded within the last six months. It's been awhile since I was here. What I found was frustrating. I pay $20 a month and every quarter an additional "gym improvement fee" of $50. As far as my knowledge goes, everyone pays this extra fee. I think that fee is being used for something else. What I found was 19 different things that are broken or missing. Now these things have not been broken for a few days or weeks. Instead, they have been broken for months!!! MONTHS! There is one seated calf machine and it's been broken since before the remodel. Some of the dumbells are loose and WILL fall apart... on someone's head. There aren't enough barbells for the number of bench presses. The shower curtain in the men's locker room is in worse shape then one that has been trashed. This is ridiculous and 100% unacceptable and the manager is completely to blame. These next to be fixed and promptly. I'm not the only that feels this way. As I was taking these pictures other patrons were commending the action and helping me find the equipment. Take care of it! #vasa #vasafitness

Update 5/2/24. Finally giving up and will be going elsewhere. They are FINALLY renovating some of this run down old place. Unfortunately they have no idea how to plan things properly. Today they are tearing apart the useless desks they had up front right in the middle of the day while the gym is still open. Dust and toxic smelling fumes everywhere. Spoke with both the assistant and general manager. The only explanation they could offer is that the company doing the work only works during the day. SO WHAT? Close the gym then, or send an email to your "members" to make them aware ahead of time. Total disregard for people's health. I normally wouldn't have been here at lunch time but figured I'd try to come in early today to avoid the high school pajamas crowd, but this just put the nail in the coffin for Vasa. I can't stand this horrible place anymore. I cancelled immediately today and signed up for a competing gym in the area.

Old review from when I first started going here like a year and a half ago:
So far it's ok. Good things - they have a basketball court and racquetball courts, there's a lot of equipment covering most things you'd possibly need, and a couple (sort of) open spaces. Bad things - they need to replace all of their basketballs (they're all warped and half are coming apart at the seams), it's almost always way too crowded so it's a bit difficult to get a good workout, there's usually a few pieces of broken equipment, and I've had a couple treadmills stop running suddenly with weird error messages. I haven't tried the pool, but I'm also not sure I'd feel comfortable doing so. The bathroom/locker is definitely not as clean as it could (should) be. This place could be much better if they just kept up on cleaning and maintenance to a higher level. Also, the fenced off area in the absolute middle of the gym is super weird and should be done away with. It's so awkward.

They need a hose in the steam room! The Steam room is always pretty gross and smelly. When you sit in the seats in there it feels like there is spilled preworkout/protein on the seats but you can’t spray it off because they aren’t replacing the hose in there. If they would just replace the hose it would be so much better. I’ve asked them to do this and they don’t seem like they want to make it a priority. It doesn’t seem like it’s ever been cleaned.

Someone broke into my locker breaking the lock and taking everything I had inside. When I reported the situation at the front desk they told me I was the 3rd person to report theft of personal belongings. When I asked for help requesting some help with accessing the video from cameras I was told only police can request that and that cameras are not really helpful because of where they are located. So not much help from VAsa which doesn’t seem to care whether you feel you’re in a safe place for you or your belongings. I was expecting to see a sign warning patrons of wave of thefts or something similar. Vasa if you care a little bit about your reputation you should do more to prevent this from happening in your facilities.
With regards to broken equipment. It takes forever to get it fixed adding to the long waiting times for certain specific machines.

2 stars because the employees were fun. Other than that a big NOPE. Cell phones EVERYWHERE. People even sit in the sauna and hot tub with their phones, scrolling. Of seven people in the sauna, five were on the phone and fully dressed with shoes and backpack 😆 There is absolutely no feeling of zen or privacy anywhere. Not sure how this is even legal.

Hello, before going I looked for information about this gym and it seemed excellent, so I decided to go to this vassa to sign up and pay the membership and thus start training, but when I arrived and asked if there was any staff who spoke Spanish to help me They told me that there was no one who spoke Spanish. The 2 guys who were at the reception took a while to attend to me and when I turned around to leave, they started laughing, I don't know what made them laugh? Could it be because I'm Latino? I felt like they were making fun of me. What a bad experience, I just wanted to sign up and pay my membership to start training since it is the only gym that is close to my house. 😔

Vasa Fitness, my friends, is a place of strength, power, and respect. The equipment, it's like the muscle of the family, sturdy and reliable. The facilities, well-maintained and pristine, command admiration. The staff, they operate with a certain authority, ensuring every member receives the utmost care.

In the world of fitness, Vasa is a don, a force to be reckoned with. Loyalty to your health is their code, and the results, they speak louder than words. When you enter Vasa Fitness, consider yourself part of the family. It's an offer you can't refuse if you're looking to make strides in your journey to a healthier, stronger you.

Where do I start… This has to be THE dirtiest gym I have ever been too, the restrooms are so filthy that you are concerned you may get sick just being in there, it looks like they never clean the toilets, sinks, or mirrors. It always has a fowl smell of urine. The sauna and steam room look like they haven’t see a brush and chemicals in months.

There is never a day at the South Jordan Vasa, where there isn't at least 2 machines broken or at least have a sign on it saying it’s broken. They don’t seem to manage their equipment in any way and when something does break, it takes them months for them to even fix it.

I have not seen any other of the Vasa’s look as bad as this one. This lead to me finally canceling my membership, would’ve definitely stayed if everything was well maintained and not disgusting.

STAY CLEAR of this location.

VASA is an adequate gym. It has all the necessary equipment and at the lowest membership price it is a good return on cost. However, the gym frequently fails to open on time, so if you are an early morning gym goer you might do better at a 24 hour gym.

I've been doing here for 3+ years. The turnover here is pretty high, the bathrooms are often very dirty and 40-50% of the time on Saturdays when I've attempted to go when the gym opens (5am) no one shows up to actually get it open. They're attempting to update the equipment and have new dumbbells but there needs to be a better focus on overall upkeep of the gym.

I've had mixed feelings about my experience at this gym. It's usually not super crowded when I go so I'm usually able to find a spot to workout and find equipment available for my workout. The cleanliness of the locker rooms/bathrooms is questionable. And the equipment is not well maintained. I've informed employees of equipment that needed maintenance and they didn't mark it out of order or make any repairs, even weeks later it was in the same condition. The childcare has been a good option for me to be able to bring my child with me to the gym. It's not my favorite place to bring him but he likes it enough and as he's gotten used to it, I've felt more comfortable. Overall, I've kept coming for the convenience of a gym close to home with a child care option. I am considering shopping around for a different gym with higher quality equipment and a cleaner facility.

I came to Vasa a year ago in hopes of improving my strength and balance. It seemed the right thing to do after a life altering injury that required a couple of surgeries and lengthy PT. Having not been satisfied with my condition after being released from the Physical Therapist, Vasa recommended Jacob.
I quickly learned the Jacob had the right background and experience to help me reach my goals. We started off focusing on my concerns to which I quickly overcame with Jacob’s guidance.
Over time as I grew stronger and more confident, my goals evolved and Jacob has kept pace and inspired me to continue reaching further as I’ve grown stronger and healthier. Every week I learn something new that has empowered me to continue.
Huge thank you to Vasa for hearing my concerns and signing me up with Jacob and of course to Jacob for walking me one step at a time to a stronger healthier life.

Vasa Fitness and this South Jordan location is a complete joke. If you have any card or any questions about billing don’t go in just call Paramount. If you have any questions about billing the workers in location can’t do anything for you and send you to a phone number that is always busy and never picks up. The workers are lazy and sit on the back counter with their feet off the ground like its a playground as well as not clean the bathrooms whatsoever. After years of going here it is enough. The employees don’t know their own company to help guide their members and the equipment is always broken with new parts somehow never coming in to fix it.

Maybe if the staff were actually useful in cleaning, fixing, and helping the members that pay their wage Vasa fitness wouldn’t be being overshadowed by Planet Fitness, EOS, and Lifetime. Only good thing about Vasa is they have a Basketball Court.

I like vasa and the value I've seen. The issue is with the very poor maintenance in the spin classroom. I joined VASA for the spinn classes because CycleBar shutdown and my daughter and I needed a new place to work out. The mic for the instructors hasn't worked properly since I joind and the clock still reads an hour late I'm assuming since daylight savings started. One day a pedal fell off of a girls bike while she was taking the class. The instructors report the issues but they continue to not be resolved. We have to sit in the front row to hear the instructor try to yell at us. I will still come to the classes because the classes could be good with a little effort from the vasa maintenance people or if you need real IT help maybe get some. Sorry to complain. For being a corporate gym and for its size it’s lacking in some areas. The gym gets the job done I just think a few improvements would go a long way. If improvements aren’t made will likely join EOS when the South Jordan location opens up in 2024.

1. A good amount of the dumbbells are so worn out the weight amount informing you how much it weighs has worn off. Please replace your dumbbells, it look’s trashy and is annoying!

2. There are not enough dumbbells between the weights of 15-30. You are usually waiting a long time to grab the desired weight. Please purchase more dumbbells!

3. There are not enough adjustable benches in the dumbbell area, there are currently 4 which are split also to be used by the two smith machines. If the gym is any bit busy they’re always full. There is plenty of room to fit at least 4 more adjustable bench’s in the dumbbell area. Please buy more!

4. There is only one assisted pull up and dip machine which is very popular and always occupied. Would be great if there were two. Please purchase another machine!

5. Not enough attachment for the cable machines, I’m constantly walking back and forth between the two cable machine areas looking for attachments I want to use. Please purchase more attachments!

6. Machine maintenance is much needed, a lot of the pads on the machines and bench’s are torn up. Please fix the padding!

7. In general I feel the gyms machines haven’t been updated sense the gym opened up in 2014. Would be nice if gym machines and some equipment were updated.
