Too many pieces of equipment left in disrepair, very limited stair masters. They have only four and 25 unused olypticals. This gym is way out of balance. I asked to speak to the manager one time and he did not have the time of day for me. There are much better options in town.

There’s a particular kind of madness that takes hold when you walk into a gym expecting civilization — steam room hissing, hot tub bubbling, machines humming — and instead find the whole damn place held together with duct tape, apology signs, and corporate indifference. That madness has a name, and its name is VASA Fitness, St. George, Utah.
For months, the steam room has been a myth whispered about like Bigfoot sightings. The hot tub? A tepid graveyard of unrealized promises. And the equipment — dear god, the equipment — goes in and out of service with the reliability of a desert peyote vision. One day it’s there, the next day it’s tagged, bagged, or ripped apart like the aftermath of a bar fight.
But don’t you dare blame the frontline workers.
No — the staff is the only thing keeping this circus tent upright. They’re running triage at the gates of hell, doing their best while the corporate suits, somewhere far away in a climate-controlled bunker, stroke their spreadsheets and ignore the slow implosion of their own facility.
This is not a maintenance problem.
This is not a “whoops, parts are delayed” problem.
This is corporate mismanagement wearing a fake mustache and hoping you don’t notice.
You can almost hear the boardroom pitch:
"Why fix anything when the memberships auto-renew?"
Meanwhile, paying customers wander the gym like battered pilgrims, clinging to the hope that one day — one blessed day — the steam room might actually emit steam again instead of disappointment.
If VASA corporate is looking for feedback, here it is straight, unfiltered, and served with a fistful of mescaline:
Your St. George location is a ship slowly sinking in a bathtub, and the crew deserves better than the executive clowns steering it.
Fix the damn facilities.
Stop pretending broken amenities are a natural disaster.
Give your staff the support they need.
Until then, VASA St. George will remain exactly what it is today:

I’ve been a member of this gym location since *2003*, back when it was still Gold’s Gym, and I’ve never felt more disappointed and disregarded than I do now under VASA’s management. The steam room and Jacuzzi have been out of order since *June 12th*, remained broken on *Father’s Day (June 15th)*, and as of *Monday, June 16th*, they’re *still* not operational.
This isn’t a one-off issue. Time and again, I’ve watched VASA treat the maintenance and cleanliness of these amenities as an afterthought—despite them being a major reason many of us pay for a membership. These prolonged closures suggest either a lack of competence, a lack of care, or both.
What’s most frustrating is the complete lack of communication, urgency, or accountability. Members are kept in the dark, and nothing ever improves. After more than two decades of supporting this facility, I’m beyond tired—I feel neglected, dismissed, and frankly, *abused* by the ongoing disregard for basic upkeep.
If VASA can’t manage to maintain its core amenities, then maybe it shouldn’t be offering them as part of the membership in the first place.
Do better.

So Vasa's steam room has been broken for nearly a month. In that time, I've been told that they're trying to locate a replacement part from nearby Vasa gyms, are ordering a new part... or, are going to replace the entire steam room infrastructure. The primary reason I pay to use Vasa's facilities is because they have the only steam room in Southern Utah. I have no interest in a fashion-foward meat market where you are either prey or predator. My hot-tip for whom ever manages the St. George Vasa facility is simple: Maintenance the equipment that you market for profit or face an exodus of disgruntled customers.

The worse location that I've been to. The hot tub was closed, and had been for some time. The place was crowded and small. The showers were completely unacceptable. The shower area smelled like a swamp. Showers were filthy, in need of major maintenance, and had an insect infestation.

The employees themselves are great, they’re kind, and they take good care of the environment. However I’m thinking of switching gyms as vasa NEVER fixes their equipment, I’ve reported issues that have caused me injury on machines that are the exact same, and machines that have been broken since before summer are still broken. It’s tiring; even when the gym isn’t busy, there’s always a line for the equipment.

Vasa has a ridiculous visitor policy or lack of one. My friend visiting from out of country for just a month would have to pay $140 with the sign up fee/month rate/cancel fee just to lift for a month. Go to a more friendly gym if you value reasonable policy.

The staff is great! Always super friendly. But you’re basically paying full price for a laughable amount of broken equipment, drinking fountains, urinals and more.
The showers are pretty gross and even a couple urinals were broken for like a week. The smell was rank cause people kept using it regardless.

Extremely Disappointed – Facilities Neglected for Months
The hot tub at this VASA location has been out of order for months. The pool was closed for about a month and only reopened recently, and the steam room has been down multiple times during that same period. To top it off, the spinner for wet trunks has also been broken for months.
The employees themselves are friendly and do their best, but their hands are tied — all maintenance decisions come from upper management. Unfortunately, corporate seems completely disconnected and indifferent to paying members’ experiences.
The excuse we’ve been given is that the gym is “preparing for a major remodel.” Even if that’s true, management has failed to properly communicate with members — no email updates, no transparency, and no timeline.
Bottom line: this is how a business ruins its reputation — through neglect, poor communication, and lack of respect for loyal customers.
VASA, get your act together. Your members deserve better!

Outstanding Service from Rylee!
Rylee is absolutely amazing! Every time I walk into the gym, she greets me with a smile and makes me feel welcome. She’s always willing to help, whether it’s answering questions, showing me how to use equipment, or just bringing positive energy to the space. You can tell she genuinely cares about the members and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great experience. People like Rylee are the reason I love coming here!

The restrooms are clean and they have five to six stalled shower stalls and a pretty decent sized locker room area for changing and putting your stuff away. Definitely out does my south Jordan location back home in that aspect alone. Keep it up St. George!

When I first started here, I really liked it. But since becoming a member, you really get to see behind the scenes.
This place is filthy, I don’t think it is ever cleaned, all you have to do is look inside the locker and see the years of dust buildup and you’ll know that what I’m saying is a fact. The pool was closed down for over a month and they said they were waiting for chemicals to balance, seriously a month. And the hot tub has been pretty much closed down for about a month and a half now , they had vendors out once, twice, three times, four times.
I’ve been gone for over two weeks on vacation and just got back, figuring that it should probably be open by now, right?
No, they said they are waiting for chemicals to be shipped in so they can balance out the hot tub.
So the only question I have to ask is, you are a facility that has wet areas and you’re telling me you do not have chemicals that you need to balance out the tub and the pool?
And a sad part is when I asked the person about it before I left on Vacay. They gave me an attitude because as being a general contractor for over 40 years if you have a vendor who cannot fix your equipment after two times I always found a different vendor because that tells me they don’t know what they’re doing or they’re just ripping you off and make an excuses
So if you ask my opinion, is this place worth it, if you don’t mind nastiness, crowdedness, some of the facilities not working quite a bit of the time and you just wanna save money, then fantastic , but if you care anything about cleanliness and taking a shower in a really nasty shower that hasn’t been cleaned in months and months and months Then find somewhere else to go

The price is good but so many pieces of equipment are broken and it takes months and months before they get fixed. They don't even have a full rack of free weights. I have been going to this gym for over a year. I get there at 5:00am every morning and when it opens and there are dumbbells missing. They keep talking about remodeling. Everyone would prefer if they just fix the equipment. The staff are friendly, however, you can tell upper management does not communicate with them at all because they never know what's going on.

Great local gym with all the amenities you could want. The best part of the gym is the great staff and especially the group fitness instructors. Jamie has an amazing spin class every Monday night that sets my week off right. Jamie also teaches studio red a few times each week that always gives me a great workout! This gym could use a good cleaning and maintenance crew. Love the location and the equipment, when it is working. The locker room floors and showers haven't been cleaned or mopped in years. Steam room and sauna are in need of disinfecting and scrubbing. Hot tub and filters are disgusting. Try telling the staff and they agree..to do nothing. Even area around parking lot is trashy. One plus is the swimming pool.
Update>>This gym is going downhill fast. The pool was down for weeks, up for a few days and down again. Hot tub down (again). Steam room hasn't been cleaned for over a year. Showers are filthy. Drain flies in the wall between hot tub and women's showers. Many machines broken. Why?? They don't have a maintenance person or cleaning crew.

I have been a member for several years. Recently, there has been a rash of machines in need of repair with signs on them. There are 5 as of today. One has been down since June. I was actually told by staff today that they are not fixing machines because of potential upcoming renovations. That is unbelievable. As a member and former club manager I have never heard a more unacceptable response to a question about this situation. Having these signs on equipment throughout the club is not a good look. Fix the machines for your members!

I live up in Salt Lake and visit St. George from time to time. I've been to double digit vasas in multiple states and this is by far the worst one I've ever been to. I don't know what they do with the money allocated to them from the company but it's definitely not used to update equipment or turn on the air conditioning. The floor is falling apart, half the equipment was made in 1950, the other half is out of order, and the squat rack section is absurdly bad. How Vasa can build brand new amazing gyms but let their already existing gyms be this out of date is puzzling. I'm rarely here, so I don't have a true dog in the fight, but for the sake of the residents here, I truly hope Eos or someone else comes to St. George. Maybe then Vasa would feel the pressure to actually care about the state of their gym.

I mean it’s a gym. I swear it’s the first Vasa ever because the equipment is old, old. Not too sure why they pulled the clocks off the wall… doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Water fountains are warm. Hot tub has been out for months. No power racks other than the one that my grandpa used that could fall apart any day now. And we’ve got to get at least the hydromassage chairs up in here. The staff is cool though and if you’re looking to get a workout in it’s not thaaat bad

If you're okay with these issues, then Vasa is the place for you. You shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes to use a machine or other things. Vasa is cheap and do not care about their values, or their customers. This is possibly the worst gym in St. George. You'd be better paying an extra few bucks to go to any other gym and not have these issues.

Vasa Fitness is an excellent gym. My husband and I used to be members of Vasa when we lived in the area. We have moved to Wyoming and still come back to the area to visit family. Each time we return we choose to workout at Vasa. They have a variety of equipment and very friendly staff. The gym has a community feeling and their memberships are very affordable.
Eric, the General Manager of the facility, treats veterans with honor and respect as well. It's nice to see an institution that honors veterans for their service.
We will keep coming back each time we are in town.

This Vasa is super nice. I was a member back when it was Gold's and it was great back then and still is today. I live out of town now and whenever I'm back I always get a pass for Vasa. The gym has lots of equipment and a ton of room to move around. It's nice and cool, has good air circulation and is very clean. The staff is always super nice and greets you when you come in and leave. The gym just has a really friendly positive vibe. All in all, I recommend this gym to everyone.

Staff make being as unhelpful as possible into a sport, and boy is competition fierce. I paid 50 dollars more than I should've due entirely to staff negligence with my payment information and the only reason I paid was because I physically couldn't swim up river anymore, i felt like a hot potato every time I wanted to speak to customer service. I’m giving VASA Fitness one star because way too much equipment has been out of order for over a month — and nobody seems to care enough to fix it. The front desk staff has no idea what’s going on and honestly, I don’t blame them — they’re making $11 an hour, which is ridiculous for a business that expects them to maintain any standard of service or accountability.
The attitude here is “it’s broken, deal with it.” No updates, no repairs, no communication. We pay for this membership — we deserve working equipment, a clean and safe environment, and a staff that’s supported enough to care.
We need to raise our expectations — this is a perfect example of why we’re “making America great again” — because places like this should care about doing better. If you’re considering this gym, just know you’ll be paying for a lot of out-of-order signs and not much else.

Whenever i'm in St. George, I need a solid gym to stay on track with my routine - something that’s really important to me, especially when visiting family - The last thing I want to worry about is if I’ll get to work out, and this gym made me feel completely at ease from the moment I walked in.
I was greeted by Riss and Claire, two incredibly sweet and helpful young women who made the whole process seamless and genuinely welcoming. Their kindness set the tone for my visit, and I left feeling grateful — not just for the facility, but for the people inside it :)
I also want to shout out Eric, who was down to earth and clearly leads by example. He made time to chat and created a space that feels both professional and personal — a rare balance.
This gym absolutely stands out as one of the best examples of what customer service and human connection should look like. If you’re in town and looking for a gym, this is the one. You’ll feel like you belong the second you step in.

Visited from Atlanta — Now I Need One in My City!
I was visiting Tucson from Atlanta, GA and decided to check out VASA Fitness—and I was seriously impressed. The gym is massive, clean, and has everything you could want: top-tier equipment, a great layout, friendly staff, and a motivating vibe that makes you want to push harder. The recovery and functional training areas were a big plus too.
Honestly, this experience made me wish there was a VASA in Atlanta. If one ever opens there, I’ll be the first to sign up. Highly recommend to locals and travelers alike!

I visit the St. George Vasa mainly for group fitness classes, weight lifting, and running/elliptical equipment. It's been difficult finding a class with challenging athletic/cardio routines. Most group fitness classes tend to focus on choreography rather than intense, athletic moves. I know that Studio Red focuses on the athletic but is highly repetitive whereas a group fitness class has the potential to continually make the workout exciting with music and diverse, unanticipated moves. There are two St. George instructors currently providing great workouts: "Pump" with Monica and "High Fitness" with Emili. Thank you for the phenomenal workouts! Mind you, there are likely other classes fitting this category but not at the hours I usually attend...

I've tried to cancelling my daughter's membership which is a minor, neither me or my wife signed any paperwork to give her permission to get this membership. They keep coming up with excuses for not letting us or her to cancel this membership. She has only used the GYM a hand full of times and has not been there in months. These owners / operators in my option are one of the most dishonest and greedy companies I've ever dealt with. BUYER BEWARE before joining this place of business. The next step for us is getting our attorney involved.

The location is ok, plenty of good equipment. Bathrooms smell bad and they only have air dryers, no hand towels. I don't like when the instructor can not go to teach the class and then they replace with the subs I don't mind if they replace but they should say that in the calendar so I avoid all way to coming, then you ask to the manager and she said : when the instructor can no come in the last minute we replace .....
But my question is and doesn't matter what the clients expect???? Also in the movie calendar they offer the princess bride but in the theater is El zorro movie 😭 I don't like this details so I won't recommend vasa , because I don't enjoy anymore.

It is old and dark and dingy. Give it some fresh paint and or add skylights to brighten it up. Also update the machines their older equipment and dirty and to many diff machines that make it cluttered. Needs to be cleaned and dusted as well. Weights are ok, adjustable benches are old and outdated, all that $$ buy new stuff. Need to update drinking fountains to. Mainly just get some new stuff and make it seem fresh, bright and inviting.

I would love to see another vasa gym location in St. George! We love your gym but this city has grown so much and we would love to see an earlier start time like 4:00am or 4:30am just so people that have to get to work early are able to go. Thanks

I was wanting to sign up with Vasa because of the childcare and talked to two different people about wanting to drop my child off between the 9:00 - 11:00 am hours and neither one of them told me that those hours are the most busy hours for the childcare and very hard to get a spot scheduled. So I went ahead and I signed up and tried to schedule childcare and there was no morning availability for at least a week (unless I brought him at 8am but I am not going to wake up my child to go to the gym). I decided it would not be worth it so I called and had some questions about canceling. The silver lining through this whole situation was the front desk girl letting me know they had a 3 day grace period that I was still inside of and I was able to cancel my membership with no fees. Leaving a one star review because I signed up being led to believe I wouldn't have a problem getting my child in in the morning.

Always to crowded, can't ever find a bench or machine to workout on. Also, I had a $10 per month membership on auto pay. I canceled my card and got a new card forgetting to update it with Vasa. No call, email, text nothing, and they cancel my membership. Now I am left with a $177 balance to a third party attorney who calls me daily with threats that the balance will reflect on my credit. This company only cares about your money and will screw you over like they did me.

The kid care recently changed and I can’t get availability like I used to last year. They took away spots, now I feel like I’m paying for kid care I can’t even use. It’s stressful and a huge pain now to book kid care when I’m not sure of my plans two weeks or even a week ahead. I have to worry about fees and availability, which is the opposite reason I joined vasa two years ago.

This gym literally is garbage now the set up the feel. The thing that irritates me the most is they changed the light switch into a lock for the sauna that has white leds in there now. I came to vasa to relax all the time now it just feels strange and overly corprate. The shop is gone like there no community in here. I guess you guys got what you wanted finally up in HQ.

I signed up for my membership specifically to attend spin classes. I've been going for a little over a week now, and I have attended every class since I joined. All the instructors are kind and welcoming, which makes me want to keep coming back. I've noticed that no one books the spin classes through the app; everyone simply walks in. I was a bit hesitant at first, thinking it would just be the instructor and me, but the classes are almost always full. I'm excited for my next class!

I'll start out with the positive: very friendly staff, they're always willing to help and answer questions. When stuff breaks down, the repair time is pretty quick, just a day or two. Also, the pool is probably the cleanest pool I have ever seen. Like crystal clear, their pool guy is amazing. Same with the hot tub. Jets are always working and are powerful.
I have to give big deductions for the following: There is always a shortage of weights. They have a zillion 60-90 pounders for people, who, IMO if they need those weights, would not be in a VASA working out. But for the common folk who need the 10-30 pounders, not even close to enough. I'm not sure what happened with that planning?
Next, as someone who appreciates the ability to shower and go straight to work, I use the showers every day. But the smell in there is absolutely awful. It's like people are taking a shit in the next room and its flowing underneath the shower drains. I honestly wonder sometimes if the fumes are harmful to my health and/or if the health department has ever had issues with fumes? There is also nowhere to put your personal toiletries. No little shelfs or extra hooks, just one big one to hang your towel on, so you have to put them on the ground, or balance stuff on their soap dispensers or ADA bars.

This gym is great and all but needs new barbells all of them are worn out or bent. Indeed of a powerlifting barbell please all of the other barbells are Olympic barbells and aren’t great for lifting heavy weight. Also Men’s bathroom definitely needs an air freshener.

Overall, love this gym! Super affordable and conveniently located. Has most of the machines I use, and isn’t super busy. (Unlike most of the other Vasa’s) they also have an amazing turf area that is out of the way. It’s the best part of this Vasa.
Biggest downside is that most of the equipment is pretty old. And it wouldn’t hurt if they stayed open a little later.

Seriously, this guy is the BEST. He's always greeting everyone with a smile, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the members.
