I love Westside Studio! My sisters have danced here and have absolutely loved their experience! The performances are always stunning, the dancers show practiced technique, and I love seeing their smiles throughout the show! My favorite is Westside's annual showing of "The Nutcracker" during Christmastime! The dancers tell the story perfectly and amaze me with their choreography. Watching "The Nutcracker" gives me that special Christmas feeling! And the staff are always so polite and kind, always willing to help in any way they can! love Westside!

We love Westside Studio! I have been bringing my daughter here since she was 3. She is now 9 and is trying out different styles of dance this year. My 4 year old started ballet last year and loves it as well! Miss Sheila is just so cute with the girls and we always look forward to the performance of Défilé in May. 💗

Westside Studio has been a fantastic place for my daughter to learn not only how to dance, but how to have integrity, how to take personal responsibility, how to respect others (and herself) and how to build self-confidence. Joining the Westside family is one of the best decisions we have made. The lessons and memories my daughter have made there will last a lifetime. I couldn’t be more grateful or recommend more emphatically!

After being a part of the dance world in California, I was so excited when we moved to Southern Utah and found Westside Studio. I took the time to visit all of the dance schools before I selected one for my daughter who was almost 5 at the time. She has now been at Westside for almost 6 years and I am constantly impressed with the quality of dance training, technique and caliber of the staff. Westside Studio is a dance family that supports your child and enourages their growth in a positive manner.

My daughter considers this her second home where she learns ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, broadway, and tap. She works on a team and shares her love for dance with other dancers. Teachers are beyond exceptional. Performances are amazing. Bravo!

I absolutely love Westside Studio. The environment in the studio is one where growth and learning are continually promoted and the teachers have a genuine love for their students and their success. I personally know that every teacher in the building has a genuine desire to have their students learn from them and to develop a love for dance.

My daughter attends classes at west side Studios as of this year. This will be her only season there. This is not the first dance studio she has attended but this is the first dance year where she has wanted to change classes since her former ballet instructor and owner Shiela Bailey was going around class trying to encourage proper arms by using a (push pin/tack) whom she refers to as Mr Poker Pin to keep young (age 8) dancers in correct posture. My concern is that the owner of a well known dance studio in our community is teaching dance through either physical punishment or the idea of it. My 8 year old is afraid of Ms. Bailey. She does love her other teacher but what in the world are we teaching our children. Maybe you should ask you child if they have ever been threatened by Mr. Poker Pin or in fact poked. This is not right! It’s a form of abuse and bullying.

We were so excited to start my 2 yr old in Ballet classes as she loves to dance. This would have been her first time in any classroom type of atmosphere and even a setting around other girls her age (she’s been an only child for a while). She does have delayed speech, but is very interactive and involved, although it has affected her ability to stay focused. We hoped this would allow her to learn and progress.
Her first class she got into everything thing, but with every class she participated a little bit more and more. Of course a lot slower than the other girls in the class. The instructors approach is to not force the girls to participate, so my daughter did her own thing the entire class without any encouragement to join in. I watched and waited to see if she would try to include her, but that was never her approach.
One particular class my daughter wandered off and did her own thing with the hula hoops and some of the other girls followed. I felt really bad because I didn’t want her to be a distraction but that’s exactly what she was doing. As soon as the class was done all of the Mother’s went downstairs to accompany their daughters to tea time. To my surprise the instructor walked out and decided it was appropriate to announce in front of everyone that my daughter “was not ready for this class and needed to attend another class” I was completely caught off guard and totally embarrassed.
I couldn’t believe she said that in front of everyone, and wasn’t very nice about it. I walked into the bathroom and just cried because it made me feel like a failure as a mother. I felt ashamed and as if I didn’t prepare my daughter to behave properly in these classes.
My daughter loved the classes, but I realized maybe she really wasn’t ready for this type of learning atmosphere and needs a more hands on type. This ballet class is not that, which is totally fine, but I didn’t need to be told in front of everyone that my daughter was not ready-it was inappropriate and disheartening. We are going to find somewhere else to take her. Sadly I paid till May and we will now be out of that money.
