I have been a lifelong exerciser and a gym dabbler throughout, but not until my 50s did I figure out I needed to focus on strength training. It's been almost a year since I started in Ren's program, and I've never been fitter -- I keep coming to class because of the community he's built, the structure of the workouts, my confidence in the coaching, and the progress I'm seeing in myself. It's the perfect recipe for success.

Ren’s small group strength classes have changed the trajectory of my active life. I started working with Ren in 2020. I feel strength is an important skill as people age and being in my late 50's I was looking for a way to maintain my strength. I had started to experience small but annoying injuries from trying to put together my own programs or working in large groups where it’s impossible to get individual feedback.
In a small group, Ren has direct communication and gives very specific directions regarding form and technique to prevent injuries. He has a plan for his workouts and changes and adapts the workouts day to day. My functional strength has improved dramatically, and I am back to doing some sports and activities that I thought I would have to let go. The community within this program is wonderful, so supportive and encouraging. I was not the type to feel the need for community, but I am now so grateful that I have it!
I highly recommend Ren and his programs. He will meet you where you’re at and make sure you get the full benefit of services offered to support and expand your health.

To start at the end of this review, I don’t think you can find a better trainer than Ren – period. In our first meeting about five years ago, Ren asked me about my goals and listened carefully to my list of challenges. He proposed a personalized plan, and he’s been sure to keep it the core of my training. If routines need to be adjusted, Ren substitutes alternatives easily, helping me to relax during training and be healthier as my balance, strength and endurance improve.
Ren has always taken me where he finds me, whether it’s on a given day or whether he’s adapting long-term plans for my success. His vision and his confidence in his suggestions for training to my needs are routed in his extensive knowledge and his experience as a trainer. Ren serves up all these skills with lightheartedness and obvious happiness for helping me to succeed. Time with Ren is terrific.
What else could I ask for? I don’t think you can find a better trainer than Ren – period.

I started my strength training journey almost 2 years ago. I’ve worked out before but not with a coach. I always gave up because I wasn’t seeing results and feared getting injured. REN’s program is awesome. He provides the exercises, customizes them to meet you where you are yet helps you continually improve and gain. It is exciting to see myself lift something I never would have thought I was capable of. REN’s fostered a fun, friendly community. Everyone is encouraging and fun. I look forward to going to the gym and I never thought I’d say that.

Ren is always striving to learn new techniques and to keep growing professionally. Ren encourages his athletes to constantly improve and challenge themselves so we can remain healthy for life. Ren is also fun to be around and will quote almost any movie…adding humor into fitness is a real gift he gives to his clients. Good to take life a little less seriously! I highly recommend Ren!

I’ve never stuck with a program as long as I have with Ren and his phenomenal coaching. (Since October of 2020!) Not only does he bring deep knowledge and thorough training approaches, but he’s also a genuinely incredible human who brings lightheartedness and joy to every class. What truly sets Ren apart is the strong sense of community he builds — it’s rare to find such a supportive and welcoming environment, and it’s entirely a reflection of who he is. As someone who has been teaching exercise science at UVM for the past 28 years, I can without hesitation say that Ren is one of the best fitness professionals I have met. I have been training with him for about 3 years and I have never been as strong as I am now. He balances careful exercise prescription with just the right amount of “pushing you past your comfort zone” to elicit noticeable progress and great results. Ren is an excellent personal trainer! He has a great personality, knows how to keep things fun, and always brings a sense of humor to the workouts. He can joke around and make you laugh, but at the same time he knows exactly how to challenge you and push you to do more than you thought you could. Ren's Forever Fit classes for age 65 and older are great! They're tailored to improve agility, balance, strength and bone density. He's got eyes on everyone for teaching and maintaining good form throughout the exercises thereby promoting safety and optimal training results. He's an excellent teacher with years of experience in both personal training and fitness classes. These sessions are fun and very well thought out.
