Easily my favorite workout of the week. I'm new to boxing and have found the 101 and hit mitts classes really helpful. Coach is patient, supportive, and doesn't let me avoid the skills I hate doing (i.e. jump roping). I appreciate that he corrects my technique and makes me repeat combos until I get it right. I always leave feeling about a million times less stressed. Could not recommend more.

King James is great! I decided to learn how to box to lose weight, get in shape, and most importantly defend myself. I started taking private lessons with him and he’s exceeded my expectations. We first do strength training exercises and then we box. I LOVE boxing, it’s the most fun workout I’ve ever had! He makes working out fun. I’ve also seen results on my weight loss and strength as well. I highly recommend him!

Getting back into boxing after some time off. Just moved to the Burlington area and feel super fortunate that King James is training here. This guy is the real deal. James is the kind of coach who picks up on every nuance. He noticed some mistakes I was making right away that coaches in other martial arts gyms never bothered to correct. Plus, he switches up the workouts so that nothing is ever boring. Boxing is some of the toughest conditioning out there, but when you work with James his sense of humor and the light-hearted mood he creates makes the experience feel much easier. If you are looking for someone to give you just the right blend of encouragement, motivation, and feedback, then look no further than King James Boxing.

I recently started learning how to box on a whim without any prior experience. King eased me into the sport from the start, going over the basics in an easy to learn manner. He's a great coach, very welcoming and easy to work with. He encourages you to push yourself, and provides constructive feedback throughout to refine one's technique and form. I leave every session feeling like I've challenged myself and gradually improving, always looking forward to my next session. My son Theo wanted to learn Boxing. I thought Where in VT could we do that?? I googled Boxing and King James Boxing came up. We signed up right away. In the last year of boxing with King, Theo has grown stronger not only physically but also mentally! He’s learned boxing skills on the bag! It’s an amazing workout!! He’s also learned about respect — respect for your body and for others. I am really impressed with King. He’s been a great mentor for theo!! King James Boxing (run by the gym's namesake, a Former Middleweight Champion) is a great place to train, workout and spar. The Box N Burn class is fun, hands-on (and gloves-on!), and a great, invigorating and demanding workout. Don't let King's mellow demeanor fool you; he is dedicated to the sport of boxing and, at every class I've been to, gives each student one on one time for sparring and pointers. Highly recommend this gym.
COVID bonus: Taking classes outdoors is a super fun and refreshing way to continue to safely exercise in groups. (There is also an indoor setup, which is equally well equipped and a great space to train.)

I had my first session today with King James and to say that I am excited for what is to come is an understatement. As someone who has never conditioned my body I was very nervous to start this journey. Discussing and working with King today I felt no shame or guilt.
King listened to my wants and needs as a client. He asked clarifying questions, and wanted to know about my previous injuries and their effects on my body and any concerns I may have surrounding them.
He got me right into it and worked me for a solid hour, pushing me but never outside of my comfort zone as a beginner.
Leaving Kings gym I immediately booked more sessions!
I can’t believe I finally found someone so positive, encouraging, and willing to meet me where I’m at!
So excited for what the future holds!

My very first class was about a month ago and I have been hooked ever since. The class is a variety of cardio, strength, boxing, and core and it is a KILLER! One of the best workouts I have ever done. King is also a great coach and will work with you on form throughout the entire workout. He will push you, encourage you, and help you. You will leave feeling like a million bucks....and sore for the next 4 days. I highly recommend checking this guy out!!

I just started boxing, as a beginner I already love it because of how I’m getting trained both mentally and physically. The trainer is precise, motivating, enthusiastic and an excellent traine in general.
