This is the second time I’ve ever been to a planet fitness in my life. I am a personal trainer and I work at two different gyms, and travel around to many others between Massachusetts and Vermont…You guys blew me away tonight with the level of cleanliness, all equipment in good working order, front desk staff were great, Riley was very professional and helpful! For a long time I boycotted planet fitness just because of the stigma that came with the Brand, you guys changed my mind tonight. Didn’t plan on keeping this membership… I think I’m gonna hold onto it for a little while. Well done, I will be back the next four days I am in town. You great are a great example of how a commercial box gym should look, feel, and operate!

I've been to quite a number of planet Fitness locations and this is far and away my favorite location. Good size gym, nice machines, friendly staff, clean, and in general the crowd that frequents the place is pretty courteous about re-racking weights, wiping down equipment, etc.

The best gym in Rutland.

It is the only gym that is modern, well kept, and has new equipment and modern features.

It has modern music, modern styling, it has ac and heat.

Nice maintained public showers with privacy and changing rooms.

Extra features such as tanning, redlight and massage chairs.

I love it here, it is also one of the only places I have been in Vermont that is modern and nice, and doesn't look like a guy named Ted built it in the 1900's.

The staff are helpful and friendly. It has an open, modern layout. It promotes all types of fitness, not just weights.

I'd give five stars, but showing Fox News on 1/3 of the TVs flies in the face of their "inclusive" mantra. Fox is proudly anti-LGBTQ and showing it in a place of business can and does make people uncomfortable and feel unwelcome. Do better.

Corporate policy is solidly against members. Typical gym ripoff regarding cancellation dates. PF just wants to squeeze one more month out of cancelling members. Pure greed.

They have you over a barrel as you must provide both CC and bank information.

Gym says call customer service, there is no way to speak to a CS rep regarding cancellation. Phone recording refers you back to the gym.

Stay away and go to a locally owned gym!

This is a fantastic fitness center! And right in our hometown three blocks away.

The staff there is phenomenal. Their friendliness, courtesy, professionalism is like no other gym I’ve ever been to.

This gym is clean, organized, well taken care of, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The black card spa is very calming and spacious. Would 10/10 recommend this location over the one in Queensbury NY. I’ve been going here for a year and have had zero issues!

Disappointed with Declining Standards
When the Rutland Planet Fitness first opened, it was a fantastic gym—clean, well-maintained, and open 24/7 as advertised. The staff was friendly and attentive, constantly cleaning, running the floor cleaning machine, and keeping the locker rooms spotless. However, over the past year, things have taken a noticeable turn for the worse.
Due to staffing issues they are no longer 24/7. They now open at 5AM. Typically the opener arrives 2 minutes before 5AM and doesn’t open the door one second early. Unless it’s a day like today and the opener doesn’t show up at all. It’s incredibly frustrating to plan to start your day at the gym at 5 AM to be met with locked doors and no communication. If an opener doesn’t show, there should be a backup plan in place, whether it’s a manager stepping in or an emergency contact being called to ensure the doors are open at 5AM.
Additionally, the cleanliness of the facility has drastically declined. Floors are constantly filthy, especially during the winter months, with salt and debris left for days. Monday morning the trash can in the locker room overflows with paper towels, showers are often dirty, and leftover shampoo bottles and hair sometimes stays in the shower for days. This is a stark contrast to how things were when the gym first opened.
While I have shared these concerns with management, nothing has changed. It’s disappointing to see what started so strong decline so much in such a short period. With limited options in our area, I am hopeful our Plant Fitness will find staff that want to work and take pride in their facility and I will happily update my review.

I do like that it's pretty cheap compared to a lot of the other gyms, but also the equipment is new and I'm not worried about using something that'll break. What does suck is that it's not 24 hours and I've been to planet fitnesses that are. Heck, I didn't realize they didn't even open till 7:00 on Saturdays which really sucks because I wasted my time driving here. I am aware of staffing issues, but since all the other planet fitness I used before were 24 hours it's less than ideal.

Betty from the front desk took her time and strength to help me get my key out from under a locker! Silly me to put a key fab on the top of a locker and went to reach for it and it fell to the side and down under. Betty said " I'm not leaving until we get this key" a few tools and some teamwork later She saved me from buying another 1000$ key fab. Betty ran right to the tool box, had great attitude, and showed how much she really cares about the gym guest ! Thanks Betty!

Gym equipment is not screwed to the floor which poses a safety risk. You never really know if they're actually going to be open during their hours or not. The gym has been closed for the past week because of some sort of incident and of course the owner hasn't reached out to anybody at for a refund for the time that have they have had the gym closed but yet we're all still paying for a membership to a gym we can't walk into.

***Okay what other local locations though? You mean the one in South Burlington over an hour away? You can't be serious... Who has time for an over 2 hour round trip drive to go to the gym when you work full time ? What a way to solve an issue. Great job.

I'll start with, the staff is great and friendly. One common complaint, there is only 1 infrared bed available, yet 6 tanning beds that are rarely touched. For being "judgemental free", I felt very judged every time I walked in the door by anyone who was in the facility. Now my biggest pet peve, I have been trying for 2 months to cancel my membership, as I have health issues that prevent me from going. I have both tried in person, and contacted customer services. This is my final chance to have to canceled before I have to once again switch banks to stop being charged randomly throughout the month.

Rutland doesn't need a corporate gym that undercuts existing local gyms. We need a movie theater. The Gymnasium is great and has a more community feel to it. PF wouldn't even do the bare minimum of courtesy to show me around their facilities without requiring all their paperwork filled out and giving them my personal information. The staff is super rude. Support our local gyms! Rising Star CrossFit and the Gymnasium!

I love it here! The staff are super friendly and the gym is kept very clean! They have a huge variety of machines and it feels very spacious! I love working out here. It's easy to put headphones on and do your thing without being interrupted or someone crowding your space!

Absolutely love the variety of great equipment, how clean the entire facility is, and the helpfulness of the staff as we joined the club.
A special shout- out to Paige at the front desk, as she truly went above and beyond to help us join, as she climbed the wall behind the front desk to find the correct size t-shirt for my wife.

This is the best gym in rutland, equipment for free weights, assisted racks, treadmills, rowing machines, ellipticals, hiit and functional training room with ropes and pull up bars, health and wellness, like hydromassage.
It's a good size so even when crowded it feels open and accessible. I have been to 2 other gyms in Rutland that are tiny and way more expensive, go here for any fitness level and access to modern equipment.

I also wanted to add, a lot of the negative reviews seem like people that have a personal problem and would rather complain about being offended than workout, if you enjoy a good workout and aren't a judgemental self absorbed skinbag you will love this gym.

This is a really nice PF, and I've been to many locations. This location is much larger, and the blackcard spa is as well. The showers are great and the water is HOT! Wonderful experience coming from a hiking reprieve.

I've been to many locations in the overnight hours and surprisingly, never see the equipment or facility being cleaned then. The two workers there that night were doing only that. So yeah this is definitely one of the better PF's

For a place that claims to be against discrimination and to welcome all, the truth is far from that. They have tons of discrimtitory rules and the management is really rude. I ended up canceling my membership in the first month and I don't regret it for a second. Much better options in the area, don't go there!

Like a lot of folks in town, it's nice to see a gym that offers so much but doesn't cost an arm and a leg to join. I think it's a great asset to our community. I have noticed two flaws since going. One is an easy fix. There is a Relaxation chair that offers guided meditation, breathing exercises and other guided features. While in it, I could hear the hydromassage bed going off and the fluorescent lights should be dimmed for a better ambiance that reflects what the whole purpose of being there is about. Those seem to be easy fixes, dim the lights and have people go when the hydromassages are not in session. Now the hugest flaw I see which is a major safety risk and as someone who goes much later in the night, the main door is wide open. It is great to be welcoming but that offers no security to patrons as everyone knows the plaza is a very active area which doesn't always invite pleasant interactions. Overall, I am so happy we finally got with the times in our city and love we have a modern affordable gym for all to use.
