Spencer and Karen are great. My husband surprised me with a private yoga class and then glassblowing class for my birthday and it was the coolest and most fun experience.

Karen nailed tailoring the yoga class to our preferences and is SO good at hands on assists. She’s got a beautiful balance of warmth and openness and a wicked sense of humor. It was an ideal start to the day, she’s so talented.

We loved our morning with Spencer, and in what could’ve been the words of Tolkien…Spencer spoke of glassblowing as if he were telling a grand tale by the fire, full of sparkle and marvel. His eyes gleamed like freshly polished lanterns, and his words danced about us like firelight on a winter’s eve. Before we knew it, the hours had skipped along faster than a hobbit late for second breakfast! What might have been a lesson felt instead like an adventure with an old friend.

Needless to say, we had a great day and we’ll be back.

My girlfriend and I attended Spencer’s Pâte de Verre class and had an excellent time. Spencer was a great teacher and explained the whole process very clearly. He also knows a lot about the area, had recommendations for our time around Warren, and has great facts and stories from across the Northeast and UK. I would highly recommend taking any class at Salt and Sand, we intend to return next year for the pumpkin making class and/or doing Pâte de Verre again.

Been three times now and can't stop coming back! My parents were gifted a paperweight class as an anniversary present, and my dad loved it so much, he took me back the following week to try it for myself in a 60 minute class. Spencer was super patient, and made me feel competent and capable in the hot shop despite my lack of experience.

Since that first time, I have brought back friends for the ornament experience (perfect for those looking for a half-day activity while driving up/returning to NYC or Boston) and they LOVED it just as much as me! Then another time to try my hand at actually blowing a cup. Each time, we were building on the knowledge from previous classes, and Spencer graciously handled our questions and excitement.
Thank you for letting me live my best glass-nerd life... already researching hot shops back home... :D

My husband and I took the beginner paperweight class, it was great! Spencer was friendly, kind, super informative, and a patient teacher. My husband was the reason I booked this outing but I had as good of a time as he did! It's a cool learning experience and you get your own personal souvenir that you made. If you're thinking about this experience just do it, you won't regret it!

My fiancé and I spent a weekend in Vermont this past October and happened to drive past the studio where we noticed a sign for their glass pumpkin pop-up. We signed up for a session the next day and went in to make our own glass pumpkins. Spencer and Karen were incredibly friendly and welcoming, telling us all about their studio. Spencer guided us through the pumpkin-making process, letting us assist along the way. We both got to pick out our own colors and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We're looking forward to stopping in again for the other seasonal popups throughout the year.

Yesterday our family of four had a wonderful time learning all about glass and how it’s made. Spencer was a fantastic teacher and was patient with everyone (we had no experience). Everyone enjoyed talking with and watching Spencer’s demonstrations. 100% recommend!!!

This is a long overdue review. We were on our annual trip to ski in February and wanted to find an activity during our non-ski hours. Spencer is incredibly patient and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our first class so much we signed up for another class the following day. My wife never worked with glass before and thoroughly enjoyed both classes so much that we are hoping to take a class whenever we are in the area. I recommended the studio to the hosts at our bed and breakfast that we stayed with to add to their “things to do in the area” list. See you the next time we are in the area!

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and spent an afternoon with Spencer having a great time making some really cool beads. He was very knowledgeable, patient and kind with how long it took us to get the hang of things haha but we all had fun doing it and that's what matters. We definitely recommend coming here and trying your hand at glassblowing and why not some yoga while you're at it!

I hired Karen for a pre-wedding yoga class for my friends and I at the Inn at Round Barn. Karen was very easy to communicate with and arrived on time with mats so we didn’t have to bring them! She led us in a really great class that met our needs, leaving all of my friends impressed. I would highly recommend taking one of her classes!

Karen is an amazing teacher. She has a longstanding practice of yoga in the studio and out. She is present, composed, and provides a beautiful setting for new and seasoned yogis to enjoy in her sweet small studio. I love her assists, she is present and not "trying to adjust" but rather allow my body to see what is inside to find my own inner state of ease. I highly recommend her studio.

Don't think just book it. My husband and I did the fused glass plate making class earlier this week and throughly enjoyed the whole process. Spencer was the perfect teacher - super knowledgeable, personable, and patient. You definitely walk away with a respect for glass crafters. We'll be back in the area in the near future and I'd love to do another class with him.

Our family took a glass plate cutting and designing class with Spencer on a rainy morning last week. It was the highlight of our vacation! Spencer is an excellent and patient teacher who was willing to answer every question we had. The studio setting is beautiful. Our daughter is already planning the next class she would take there if we were in the area 😃. The plates have come out beautifully and are a lovely souvenir of our trip. Wholeheartedly recommend!

My wife and I attended a paperweight class with Spencer this week. He was very knowledgeable about glass and the entire process. We appreciated the care he took regarding safety precautions. He took his time to model what we would do and then guided each of us to make beautiful paperweights we could take home as souvenirs. All in all, we highly recommend taking a class and hope to visit again soon.

One of the best yoga classes I have ever taken. Completely amazing yoga experience with Karen. Her passion for yoga truly shines though with her supportive yoga. I look forward to coming back to VT and taking classes in the future.

Karen is a really fantastic yoga instructor! Small classes means she can give each person individual attention. This is quickly becoming a required stop each time I come up to Warren.

My mother also did a glass blowing class here to make a pint glass and she really enjoyed it.

The Couples Date Night was a lot of fun, so much that I'm sure we'll return for more glass blowing with Spencer. He is an excellent teacher and the studio was cozy and very clean. Great way to spend a cool Friday evening!

Our group of four did a private glass blowing class with Spencer yesterday and had a great time. The workshop is a super cute old barn and it's nice and toasty in there. Spencer gave us the perfect amount of history, science and art instruction. We got to design our own glass paperweights, including coloring and shaping them. This would be a fun activity for kids or adults. After we got our weights in the annealing oven Spencer gave us a demonstration of how to blow a glass. Fun, engaging and we even learned a bit!

I attended a weekend yoga retreat at Salt & Sand Studios this past September. This property was in the most glorious setting nestled in the National Forest. Hosts Karen and Spencer could not have been more welcoming. I enjoyed yoga classes, a walking meditation, participated in a glass blowing class, and had a wonderful time trying new activities in this beautiful setting. There is an Airbnb room on the property, which was already booked, so I didn't stay on site, but it was an altogether delightful experience. They are right in the Mad River Valley ski area, Sugarbush is about 15 minutes away if you like to #Airbnski - I highly recommend.
